Quote:Paragon is fond of the hide and surprise marketing technique, the players aren't.Can you just tell us what it is Zwill, so I know whether it is worth logging in or not tomorrow?
And can you slap the Marketing guys around till they get some sort of damn calendar up, your competitions has managed that for like forever, I dont like surprises they irritate me. -
The end for some "former local luminaries" didn't come fast enough, so glad they are gone. Now if the rest of the local luminaries lurking around here spouting the same nonsense would just go all will be well.

Opening a revenue stream it did since prior to SSA's there was no SSA revenue stream, that is not made up mate. I did say that to what degree we will never know, so not really sure what exactly that I wrote you are taking such an exception too?
-
So Necroing is ok in this case Mod 13 and 19?
-
Well, it would be nice if they would allow the personal preference use of temp powers in all of the trials.
-
Yes, chrono shift helps to get to perma PA. Ill/Time is very very strong you will not be disappointed high level.

Ok....It's been on BETA for at least four months. So are they changing the sounds again or what? Not really understanding the delay with this set? Is it coming out this month or not let's end waiting game.
I hope to goodness this is not related to some surprise bunny vanity pet that would really suck nether parts. -
No worries mate, I understand you have a good heart concerning things here, it just caught me off guard as very different from your normal posts.

Quote:So you are mad that it does not line up with the movie lore? I have to say I am more than sure the sole purpose of any licensed game like this is not to convey lore to the next generation, the revised movies stand tall for that job.Just to clarify, this is Han Solo and Lando Clarissian doing a dance-along cover of a Jason Derulo song somewhere on Cloud City.
Those things make no sense to anyone who doesn't already know Star Wars and will only mystify and/or enrage people who do, so why do it? When you add in the other parts of the game, like the "strip-along with slave Leia" it starts verging on a self-parody.
There are plenty of ways that Lucasarts could have brought Star Wars to the attention of "the next young generation" without stooping to whatever the hell this can be called.
And I'm not even a massive Star Wars fan.
This is the sesame dance street type treatment to appeal to the young people into that sort of thing. I doubt that restricting the dance songs to lore based stuff etc... would make any sense business wise and that has to be strongly considered as the primary focus here.
It's a built in audience of young and older folks that are into the kinect dance deal, how can they just ignore that revenue stream and be considered being responsible to their stockholders? Serious question. -
Everyone knows I am a casual lore guy at best so I can understand if those tied to the lore are upset with Statesman getting whacked.
Nethergoat mentioned the fresh new ideas deal and that is where I found myself so I might just have a preference for things moving forward vs revisiting old lore or expanding on it. I thought that they did a decent job with the SSA's, but the ultimate determination on that is how many more they sell moving forward.
IDK, I may just be overjoyed with the balls they showed in not being afraid to whack the old dude and make room for what may come. As hard as I am on these guys I am only after giving them a full chance, especially for stuff like this.
Whacking Statesman ROCKED and opened to door for what is to come. For a casual lore person at best, they actually got me to care about what is to come. I consider that a feat worthy of note since I have played these games from the start and it is increasingly difficult to get me to care about any games storyline/lore more than casually as I have basically seen it all and don't care ordinarily. -
I'd say he cares very much providing a license to a product that hits the next young generation almost four decades after his original product. What would you expect him to do, "NOT" capitalize on a ready made revenue stream?
Help me understand your perspective. -

I noticed that I am able to use temp powers in the DD Itrial but not any others. Is this WAI?

Quote:My central point was good for the game not that it would necessarily draw tens of thousands of new people, maybe just a small bump. And I disagree with them.
Yes the idea of the SSA's could bring a lot of people to the game, but they haven't really have they?
Besides the writing and quality assurance on the last batch have been enough tocrush any good they could of done.
IDK if SSA's have brought more people to the game or as I stated converted more f2p to vip, it was the speculative hope of same. Only the devs know and they are not going to say.
"It was good for the game because it opened the door to a nice new revenue stream in the SSA's. That is good for the game"....Check it did do this, to what degree we will never be told.
"It also opens up a new content tool that can be used to make new stories and expand the lore well beyond its roots into the future. That is good for the game".....Check it did do this.
"It got some excellent free press for making the SSA's and that draws new players that would not have considered COX prior to the comic book episode deal. That is good for the game"....I am going to say check it did do this. The press is undeniable the draws new players part we will never be told.
"I personally think some of the missions and cutscenes were some of the better ones in the game. That is good for the game." Acknowledged as debatable.
"Killing Statesman was a bold and risky decision yes, but it brought a lot more attention to the game than just about any other plot they could have thought up." Check, what other plot would have drawn more attention from the press and how is that not good for the game? -
There are at least a few of these threads floating around here that were all referred to Kristin's AT thread if I remember correctly.

Quote:You are right, they should get started soon if there is going to be a sequel.I honestly think 5-6 years down the line to start making a game that should come out 2-3 years after that is way past the point of no return. The writing is on the wall. They're shutting peripheral services down now. We know they're dividing focus internally on another IP and production. If a sequel doesn't happen soon I doubt it is ever going to happen, and that's the end of CoH.
It's all down to opinion, anyways. Nothing a few people on the forum say will influence them to do something they can't or don't want to do. -

Quote:Having run two toons to 50, a Staff/wp scrapper and a Staff/fire brute I can only think you did not run one during BETA. If you had I think you would number one recognize/acknowledge the AWESOMESAUCE that is Staff fighting, but you would also be chomping at the bit for it too.Interesting. I have heard of protection mode, but I think it is more logic than anything, as I am not overly excited about the set. I am not even planning on buying it immediately, as I would prefer to team with some staff users first, see the set in action, and check out some numbers.

Quote:First that trial guy sounds like an idiot and I am sure he will find that view more prevalent than people agreeing with that stupid ish.Yeah, they are pretty much all apples. I just had a guy on a trial tell me scrappers were just not good for min/max players. That was a first, and not true imo.
I have tried to be pretty clear that I think they are all even at this point, and that I just want something unique for scrappers.
No, I don't have end issues with any of my scrappers, but the end buff seemed like the lease breaking thing I could think of at the time. Really, I am not sure what could be given to scrappers that would not just be a buff. :/
I am not going to quit playing scrappers by any means, and I still wish they had their own unique mechanic.
Next, I am going to say this because I actually like you, get over it mate. I mean really the entire unique for scrappers campaign is beneath the kinds of posts you made prior to embarkation on this crusade.
More endurance is not needed and the entire just throw them "something" has no base/foundation/roots in the things usually needed to make those types of changes.
I don't want to rehash that unique deal I just had to address it since you just keep pounding away at nothing IMHO. -

Quote:It is called protection mode. Your brain takes over and moves the date ahead by a week in order to avoid crushing disappointment if it is not released.Personally, I'm banking on the 10th. I mean, I would love to see it tomorrow, but for reasons I cannot explain, my brain thinks the 10th is more likely *shrug*
I think the entire keep them blind and dumb tell we "spring it on them" approach is WHACK. But hey it is their marketing team. -
Quote:Right an option different from the other apples. My point is they all have a different point of emphasis within the melee class and all play differently. That is one of the things that has been bothering me for a bit, and why I just took a MA/SR to 50 as an experiment. You no longer need to play a stalker with the hide and strike approach. It is an option, and a tool, but not required like it once was. Shoot I didn't ven take placate till lvl 49 on it.
I noted on the stalker boards that I think there will be a clash between the old way of playing stalkers, and the new way. Time will tell I guess.
For me which of the three I pick will end up boiling down to concept from this point forward. My Staff/EA toon is a priest, a Shepherd to Humanity. So stalker and AS, don't fit, and Furry doesn't quite fit (but I have an idea of how it may), so scrapper is the most likely.
