Quote:Agreed.I hope the people who run this game will reexamine this strategy of stringing out releases.
The idea that releasing two sets at the same time would piss off customers seems pretty ironic in this case. I'd say you'd have a lot less upset customers if they had a choice between two powersets at the same time, rather than making a large chunk of your paying customers wait on a set you've dangled in front of them for weeks while trying to get them to spend points on ligers and blessing of the zephyr io's. And if said customer had a desire to buy them both, they'd buy them both regardless of when they were released.
The reason I complain is because I like this game, and I want the people who run it, to run it intelligently so it sticks around for a while longer. So hopefully, the way this situation was handled was just a singular mistake, and not something that becomes commonplace. -
Quote:I think the part that resonated with me was "There is a sweet spot between being exposed to a set on test and slowly losing interest in it as time goes on."Huh? It is? This is something that is completely alien to me. Why would anyone lose interest in something they are interested in over the course of a month or so? About the only way this makes sense to me is if the people in question are not playing CoH at all, and they end up being away for so long that they get engrossed in something else instead and never come back.
I honestly, truly cannot grasp that concept.
I viewed it as the being used on BETA in early January, getting level bumps to 50 mid January and testing high level DA incarnate content in late January. The time in between that and the release next week was much longer than a month.
Yeah this. -
Quote:I am glad you made this post because it is in fact so true it brings a smile to my face. This is a YMMV situation for sure. As a person who has never been invited to a closed beta, it certainly felt like an entitlement mentality to me when some closed beta testers took to the "normal" boards to tell the rest of us not to bother commenting because it was already discussed in closed beta and a decision was made. There are some players whose opinion I generally respect, but "entitlement" is definitely the word that comes to mind when I have to characterize my interactions with several closed beta testers that I, the paid customer who didn't get to voice an opinion, was forced to deal with. While I obviously don't expect the developers to listen or even read what feedback I have, I can't really say I'm sad the same small group of people are no longer dominating the direction of feedback.

Quote:Hmm...interesting I am sorry I missed this when it was posted.Seriously what the hell logic is this. You dont tell us how to spend our money. You have it totally backwards as usual for what the customer actually thinks and sees. I could give a crap about all those enhancements you guys are releasing especially since they are so easy to get in game now. Your marketing department has always been epic phail and why this game will never reach its true potential. Everyone one of them needs to be replaced if they think this is how to get customers.

It is a darn cool idea and one I might have supported 100% prior to the revelations made by Z about how they work on and release things etc...
At this point there is just "no way" I could support this "wonderful idea" as it would invariably push something desired back three and a half months or more to put resources on it. Paragon is a small crew and they need to concentrate on releasing the backlog of stuff just recently revealed.
Something awful turned out to be informative and shared information is good. -

I use AE and make unique groups to fight specifically for the "different" factor.

Very true and critical point for the powers that be to learn from moving forward. This has been a central theme in terms of the discontent that has been expressed over the past few months.

I would expect some adjustments DOWN on all the new ATO's. Z basically said as much when the leak first occurred.

Quote:This is an excellent post and one they could really learn something from moving forward.~ There is a sweet spot between being exposed to a set on test and slowly losing interest in it as time goes on. I think the time to release staff exceeded that time for me. I was *really* excited for it, but now my enthusiasm has waned. That's probably something you'll want to get metrics on. Everyone probably has a different time scale before interest wanes, but my instinct tells me that the time to release staff after the players were exposed to it probably hurt excitement over the set.
I just want to take the time to thank you AND all the others that have given feedback surrounding this issue and can only hope that the powers in charge listen and learn. There are so many more people in game that have expressed this, but are afraid to come here to post, your are their voice. Cheers. -
Quote:I will be buying it of course because I have waited since I8 when I came to the game to make my Lunar Knight concept toon.Eh. Not particularly feeling interested in Staff now. Maybe I set myself up with way too big an expectation, but given what I've know about the set and how long I've known about it, combined with how long it's taken to show up just depresses me and leaves a sour taste in my mouth about the entire process. It won't impact overall sales in any manner I'm sure, but I'm not exactly interested in paying for it now. Oh well.
Having said that I cannot recall as many people in the forums and many many more in game saying anything like this for any other set. In view of that fact, it is more than clear sales will in fact be effected, to what degree is unknown.
It is my sincere hope the people in charge of how this was done learn from it and that the people that want staff will at some point still get it for their own personal enjoyment if nothing else. -

Quote:It was nice talking to you in game this morning. Thanks for the additional information you gave me. Cheers. On my staff/da brute doing a pylon test it felt like watching paint dry. I never actually wrote down the dps because of how slow it was. And this was on a min/maxed build with all purples/procs and stuff you could potentially have as well as having t4 alpha, interface, and destiny. The chain I was using was PS>SR>PS>SS. I also tried a build with a procced out mercurial blow, but that didn't really help. I even tried adding EotS to the attack chain on a couple runs (which actually wasn't that bad compared to the PS>SR>PS>SS chain), I think that chain I used was PS>SR>SS>EotS using EotS for the -res. Respectable to me is 300+ dps, which is probably higher than most other people consider to be respectable.

The production patch notes is the only one I am interested in since as we have seen things can and do change from the test patch notes to the production.

Quote:Seeing as how it was ready and doing the testing for the DA incarnate content in January I would say they have enough for a lifetime.Marketing feeds on your tears.
Delaying staff for a month to release Beast Mastery will provide enough to sustain them for many years.
