I say let'em argue till their pencils run outta lead. Meanwhile, I am well into my second Staff toon after having taken my new main Staff/WP MoonKnight scrapper clone to 50 on a joyous ride and he is now enjoying incarnate content.

Nothing more fun than jumping into a X8 spawn and swinging your stick till nothing is left standing. No math can equal the fun of that experience for sure.

If they did this I would even buy some Supergamble Packs, but I doubt they will.
  3. None of what you suggested is needed. What is need is for the devs to pay attention to their self professed schedule and keep updating AE one issue behind. Until that happens all these other things don't register on the to do meter.
  4. I knew Bill would be disrespected in this kind of thread..
  5. I think the devs are more concerned about something that is a true revenue builder being turned into an inf/inf sink effecting their RL revenue. Supergamble packs are serving the purpose they were designed for(revenue stream) and because of that I see no reason to change what is working so well.

My thoughts are it looks interesting enough to give it a run through on BETA. Other thoughts are reserved until after that seat time is done.

Now the only question becomes what do they do about it? The simple answer so far has been nothing and just ignore it until we can get all of these revenue builders like LIGERS onto the market first. Pathetic.

Later this year we "might" see this acknowledged and addressed in a professional manner. All we get right now is the standard pound sanding silence they give us when things get uncomfortable for them to deal with in a more direct manner. Typically pathetic.

However, I have a surfeit of Reward Points that just keep accumulating (and nothing to spend them on, save a new costume set every 3-4 months). So I can be philosophical about dropping a bunch of RPs for a few. If you walk into a casino and they had you a club card with $50 for the machines, why not?
That is an outstanding point. I personally have used my Paragon points for powersets and other useful items like additional trays, storage and other account wide items, but don't begrudge "anyone" for using them as they see fit.

I was also surprised to see they are coming out with additional Supergamble Packs, but why should I be based on the success of the first version.

Go PS collect that revenue and reinvest it into our game!
  10. I enjoyed PvP in this game to some degree prior to I-13. After the devs decided to murder PvP in I-13 I made a decision that it was no longer for me. I have played this game since I-8. PvP was murdered in I-13 and we are going on I-23 now.

So ten issues later and only one dev gives any real personal time to PvP in this game. I think that actions speak louder than words.
  11. I don't know I would have to give it seat time on BETA before deciding just like I have with all of the for pay sets. I don't know what else would make any sense for me other than personal seat time and evaluation after that time gives a clear indication one way or another.

I have not and will not buy any Supergamble Packs. Having said that I am under no illusion that my view is the majority, just looking at Las Vegas, Indian Casinos and Gaming parlors' success shows these kinds of things work very well and are revenue booms.

Cheers to those of you that are providing a nice chunk of revenue for PS to reinvest into our game. Thank you.

If I felt passionately about this I'd re-frame the debate along the 'discount for using Wentworth's' line noted earlier, but as it's more of an impulse thing I'll just keep fishing for reasons beyond "players shouldn't have to see anyone!" or "bad idea is bad because I don't like it!"
/AH is a longtime earned reward and in view of that fact charging people to use it makes no sense.

In terms of fishing yes you are principally because the idea itself is flawed and you are bored so you just keep it going having already recognized what little if any merit the actual idea has. Have at it mate.

But I miss being able to pop in to Wentworths and find a bunch of folk hanging out doing their thing. IMHO the game needs *more* public gathering places where your character can feel like part of an actual CITY of Heroes.

So, how to incentivize players actually using the actual market locations?

    Well, I'm glad you asked...

A convenience fee on remote transactions!
In a world were banks happily charge you $2 to pull $20 out of their ATM, surely the Market deserves to gouge for the unparalleled utility of the remote AH screen!

A small, flat fee would make the physical market more attractive without putting a serious dent in the utility of /ah. Also, INF SINK!

Say, 5 or 10 inf per transaction?
It has nothing to do with no haz meh money etc... It has to do with the idea of what /ah is all about (not having to travel to an AH or 'interact" with people there) and what you stated you are trying to achieve(social interaction) and how those two things don't go together.

The entire deal overlooks this inherent flaw and pushes forward looking for something already determined to be incompatible. People have not and will not use the AH as a place to socialize with each other since there are several places that serve the function already.

Frankly, I would not be content to be a follower in this case. BETA is pretty busy and trying it out for yourself is the best way to see how a set works for you.

Gotta remember the forums only represent a super small minority of people for any given game and going by the "verdict" of that few like minded people can be extremely misleading and might turn you away from something "you" might actually like. YMMV.

Don't give up on a set that you paid for and that you enjoy just because of hearsay.

That aside, the complaints about staff come down to its hypothetical performance with top end purpled-out incarnate builds. If that's the main part of the game that you care about you could perhaps give staff's detractors more credence. I'm of the opinion that there's a lot more to the game than constant 50+3 trial grinding, and I'm also of the opinion that staff's performance even at that level is being mischaracterized.
Yep pretty much this. This is just one reason for the devs to be careful about basing what they may think the "players" feelings in the game are based on such a small purpose focused group of forumites.

The store bought procs were fine as they were. Crafted IO procs could have simply been made to work the same. If there was a need for anything it would have been a floor so quick recharging powers weren't screwed.

Instead people who paid for store bought enhancements because they worked a certain way are having their purchased products "remotely firmwared" into something they would never have paid for with no mention at all of any sort of recourse for return/reimbursement.

At least I'll have the satisfaction of knowing, without a doubt, that sales for SBE's will go down because of the change.
I though they were going to make them all the same, which making them all like the SBE procs seemed like an easier solution.

TL;DR: I'd like to make the formula less punitive for players with global recharge bonuses and for powers with large area factors.

More excellent stuff from you. What the hell are you trying to do become my favorite dev or something?

I like the direct way you are handling this entire deal and support your extensive efforts to make it right. Cheers.
