I had a big response set but based on what others are saying I think you get the picture that you guys are way way off track by trying to force a paying playerbase to play an open ended MMO ANY way other than the way "THEY" want to play.
Your attempt to get people to play the other content "YOU" want them to play makes no sense and cannot be explained away.
Very sad to see you guys doing this. Matt remember the old days with Pat Cook and FPS FB. "That" was a game made to allow players to do what they wanted and not what you as the devs decided for them take a note mate... -
Thats the point mate, they are presenting you with a choice of playing your way and getting no merits or playing the way they want you to, and getting merits. Ain't it great?
-
Hmm...excuse me a sec I think im going to be sick after reading all of that...
-
Gosh, I wanna be positive for I13 after Castle did such a GREAT job on the Kheld changes and toggles for all. But the merit misrepresentation and the now you have to grind four times as much for a chance at something good, thing has me a bit chaffed.
-
WOW, maybe you are right mate, I had not considered that possibility. What a shame...

But like the Black Market last winter, all the inf in the world can't buy stuff if people aren't selling it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok here it goes. They didn't have to care about the supply in BM last year. I bet with merits the moment something rare is not on WW/BM to buy without having grindmerits, they will have to do something because this board is gonna light up.
In other words if merits adversely effect the supply of recipes that can be bought with inf on the market, people are going to explode in rage and angry here on the boards. -
Why, dont you get it? Because this is all in their plan to time sink people into playing more/longer for more profits. This has nothing to do with our fun, risk vs reward of any of the BS they have spewed in advertisements and on this board.
Its all about our time=money. Now that I see that is their prime objective, I will just inf farm and buy the stuff I want. I'm not going to chase their fuggin merits. -
Not gonna work.
On the otherhand, it looks like good'ole inf farming is the best way to get your stuff. That way it does not really matter how much stuff cost as long as its on the market. Getting inf is MUCH faster to get than grinding for merits alone.
I'm done with trying to discuss it. -
I don't think you understand the new system. Once every 24 hours, so if you do the tf anytime during that 24 hours then the second reward of merits will be based on punishment of returns. Very Major change and totally not what was advertised for months by Positron.
As it is now you run a Eden get your random drop. You can run another and just log the toon for 3 hours and get your random drop. -
Yes consecutive in a 24 hour period. It seems the 3 hour system was not punishment enough, now they have you on punishment for 24 hours. Brilliant!
-
Except you get less merits each time due to the punishment of returns. These devs are so smart, its so strange to see them false advertise, mislead and make VERY poor decisions on the implementation of something that COULD have been good. Now it just stinks like a smelly river.

Good day everyone!
Merit System:
Next up, we have a new Merit System for playing through content in the game. Players will no longer need to farm particular missions or Task Forces for a specific IO. Now you can accumulate Merits and simply purchase that IO outright from the new Merit Vendors sprinkled throughout Paragon City and the Rogue Isles. Practically everything you do in the game earns you Merits now and the amount you earn is based on our datamines on how long particular things take to accomplish in our game. This means that really fast Task Forces or Trials will earn you fewer Merits than ones that take longer to complete. Merits dont have a level associated with them either, so you can earn Merits in your low-level career, and save them up to purchase IOs that will be most useful when you are level 50. The choice is now in your hands, and out of the random drop tables these missions had previously.

Thank you for the notes. I do however have to express my utter frustration with what appears to be false advertisment and the classic bait and switch routine concerning the new merit system.
For the past several months the PUBLIC comments concerning this system have been these:
[ QUOTE ]
The last big addition to the game is called the Merit Rewards System: What this does is add an alternative reward system to Task Forces, Trials, Strike Forces, Raids, etc. At the end of the mission arc you will be able to choose either the set rewards for the arc or a Merit Reward, choosing a Merit Reward will give you a certain number of merit points that can be used to buy Enhancements, recipes, or other items you might want. The harder the mission arc, the more points you receive. This will allow people to save up for the reward they want, buy something random for a smaller output, or go with the normal choices. It could, however, take longer for someone to get the exact item they are looking for - Positron says this should work out in the end and keep everything balanced so as not to overflow the market.
Heres Positrons word on the subject of Merits:
Basically:
Upon completing tasks in the game (Task Forces, Trials, etc.) you get an option of receiving Reward Merits instead of a normal reward. The number of merits is based on the difficulty of the mission, how long it takes to complete on average, etc. Thus things like the Katie Hannon TF have minimal merits associated with them, and things like the Shadow Shard Task Forces get bunches.
You can then trade those merits in for specific rewards, like recipes and the like, or trade in a smaller amount for random recipes if you feel lucky.
This should allow players who want to work towards a specific reward to be able to do so, but it will most likely take longer than the random rewarding of that item generated. This should keep the value of highly desired items in the Auction House (but most will likely see a fall in price). People still want instant gratification, and that is what the AH brings to those with the Inf. to spend.
[/ QUOTE ]
Obviously, what is on test is NOTHING close to what has been PUBLICALLY advertised for the past few months or even a hint that the system would be getting rid of the current end of TF drop. No it actually is saying just the OPPOSITE.
How do you explain what looks like the classic bait and switch false advertisment and lies that the software industry has been accused of in the past? -
You can laugh, suspect and pound sand all you want mate. On Freedom all of us (ie. multiple 8-man teams) were experiencing bad lag. Your help(attempt at humor) was not requested as the post was to Lighthouse.
I fired up Virtue and it had a playable amount of lag. Freedom just has too many people for these events to run smoothly on weekends. -
What about the horrendous lag?
I mean you guys have got to do something about the degradation of your servers during these LONG events. We should not have to suffer the type of lag we are because of these events.
You need to find a way of having events that don't lag the servers, stop having the events or return the pro-rata portion of subs fees for the time the servers are going to be lagging to the point of not being playable.
Im sorry this is just not acceptable, IMHO. -

We proceeded to design out the set based on the theme of "Controlling, giving and taking away pain." It would have been very easy to cross the ESRB Teen rating with such a thing, so we were very careful to ensure that nothing crossed the line, despite the thematic temptations.

This makes no sense in light of a game that is all about killing bad guys or creating mayhem robbing banks and such as a bad guy. You can call it "arresting" all you want, its KILLING and thats all their is to it...
The truth is they don't want to have to deal with other compaines that already have chain wielders etc....ESRB my butt. -

Guides that say "never invite" or "always bring" are [censored].
Third fastest CapSF I've ever run was All dominator.
Only one of the runs in my top 10 had a brute.
Buffs and Debuffs are key for most teams, if half your team buffs or debuffs, the rest of the team can be pretty much anything.
Truthfully though, the only real marker you need is number of people who know what they're doing. Most of the team knows what they're doing, and it's Easymode.

Gee golly I hate agreeing with you mate, but you are right this time. -

To all of those that flamed me for suggesting this two years ago and said it would NEVER happen.... I told you so. You were wrong. How you like me now.......

Just kidding on the tease, but I did say they would do this because it makes good business sense. Kudos devs. -

Double XP is on!
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm really really sorry LH and Company, but this is TOTAL BS. Every single time for the past 21months when double xp weekend comes the servers go FU BAR. Market interface goes wonky, you can't invite ppl to your SG if they have logged another toon because of shadows of the old toon, friends list goes FU BAR, powers don't recharge or lag out etc......... ad nausem.
If you people can't get the servers to run at a quality level then you need to STOP having events that your servers cannot handle, its stupid, annoying and poor customer service.
/end rant -
WOW, just WOW! Bravo!!!!!!!!!!!

There's no need to nerf MM's. However, everyone knows they can solo AV's as they are an entire team in one AT. I just wish heroes had a Team Leader AT with controlable pets, cause I just can't get into Villians as much as heroes.
-
Glad to see this positive move. Always felt losing powers was enough when we had to really work to get these rewards.
-
Thats true, but this issue needs to be bumped up, its been bumped back enough for coding reasons in the past. Keep the pressure up I say.

DB and WP look very nice. Actually those blade attack animations are just SICK!!!
How many Deadpool knockoffs are we gonna get.
