That's correct.
However, I don't think a reasonable person would argue against the fact that since the custom critters are indeed tougher than PvE critters, It does indeed take more time to kill them mob for mob.
This is not because customs have more hit points, but because of the amount of additional damage you take and the adaptive tactics to deal with same. -
The damage scale of custom critters makes them tougher "without" an over the top ranged attack added in addition to more powers on standard.

The "ticket cap" is interesting for many reasons. Peoples reaction to it even moreso.
I see nothing posted that would make me think anything was "wrong" with how you are playing the game. Sounds like you are having fun and plan to continue to have fun. CHeers.

BTW Darth, have you noticed that someone made a map of nothing but Voids? I think the arc was called Dubya Tee Eff or something of that nature. Talk about a challenge arc for a Kheld...

I've seen a couple. Not exactly what I was looking for. -

Am I way off base here?

No not in the fact that MA critters are tougher. The devs said as much when they told us they were using the players damage scale instead of the weaksauce PvE damage scale players with good builds can melt with ease.
I think it is a valid issue and the devs need to seriously look at this imbalance. Of course they will not do this for whatever reason they make up and that is their choice.
I just don't want anyone to come in here saying PvE critters are as tough and therefore the same risk vs reward is being observed, it is not and everyone being honest knows it including the devs.
The only difference is they are too stubborn to be honest about it and will wrap it up in some kind of developer spin about keeping abuse down etc. which is total feldercarb. -

Anyways, the cap is irrevelant and a nice instance of "Dev-spin".

This is something I don't think either side realizes.

Oh I realize it -- though I don't believe I fall into either one of those sides.
It was a lazy, half-baked Band-Aid.

In a way I guess it could be viewed that way. I see it more as kind of cosmetic change so yeah you are right. -

You get the same xp/inf for PvE mobs as you do for MA mobs, the difference you are seeing is the patrol xp. You get no patrol xp in MA.
-
I'm sorry if you don't want xp turn it off. Any suggestion of the player taking risks and getting no reward or even a reduced reward is a total non-starter.
Risk vs Reward. -
I think its a good question and the answer for me is I've tested at various levels. The bottom line is it "still" outta whack in the amount of damage and needs to be brought in line with PvE critters.
In addition to that don't forget that instead of just having a couple of attacks on standard they now have even more and have just become too deadly overall. Things like standard minions getting darkest night.... -

what exactly is the 'friends and family' program supposed to be?
[/ QUOTE ]
I could come and say it plain as day, but that is not only not allowed, it's denied by all who are part of the friends and family program, plus a few goofy sycophants. Believe me if you are not a member of the friends and family program, and you try to use a few of the "features" of CoH often enough, and your not a sycophant fayboy, you'll find out what "not" being in the program means.

FiberOptic, you must have lost your mind if you think that "anyone" here other than you would describe me as fanboi, that is comical. You need to check my post history mate.
In terms of the real issue regarding xp/inf you need to just come clean and admit that you made an error and all will be well.
Name calling and making yourself look out of touch with reality is not the way to go mate.

Guess you missed this part where I called him on his more than obvious mistake, which was the real issue at hand.

No worries mate. -
You can wrap it all up in a nice bow, but the fact remains it is stinky.
The fact remains for the increased risk of CC's we get the same reward, no problem. They then not only give them a ranged attack WAY outta whack with PvE critters, but making it so you can get "any" form of balance across AT's as if it were not already a nightmare. Immobs and holds are weaker against CC's and this take you down in two shots ranged attacks ends fun for most squishies, overboard.
I don't care what the tutorial says the feature is broken for CC's when they are this overpowered and im talking for high level toons. Lowbies cannot use CC's in missions now and that is not making any sense whatsoever. -

I would like to see the same kind of attention and intensity that Positron showed toward the balances in over rewards focused NOW on these overboard custom critters.
Failure to do that is going to limit the success of this feature if people are "forced" to use PvE critters for the majority of the arc due only to CC's being grossly overpowered.
It is a BIG issue and it needs some immediate attention, IMHO of course. -
Yeah the devs went overboard with the customs. Orginally they were already harder because the use the players damage scale and not the weak scale of the PvE critters. This was good.
Then they not only gave the CC's an WAY overboard ranged attack, but they added A LOT more powers to the "standard" critter powers options. So in essence they way more of a challenge than before even for high level toons. Low level toons HAVE ZERO chance angainst the current custom critters. Brilliant! -

Wow, if this is true why do AE arcs give a 10th of the XP a real mission does. If you use custom baddies that is what you get.

Probably is which is sad. Some people are going to have this reaction no matter how you try to frame the story for a wide variety of reasons and yes griefing is one.
-
IDK, if an xp cap is something that is needed, good or doable with the large variety in map sizes. Making that attack in line with the PvE critters seems to be the logical answer.
Taking Battle Maidens troops as the standard bearer they have the arrow attack and then the main melee attacks. Going beyond that level of damage is overboard for "whatever" excuse they try to use, IMHO.
Using custom critters in your story arc ramps up the difficulty quite a bit and with this new deadly ranged attack just throws things way too far outta whack for the risk/reward/time compared to PvE criters and that should not be the case. -
[ QUOTE ]
Once you can cherry pick custom critter powers, it shouldn't be a problem. Until then, watch out for custom foes.
[/ QUOTE ]
You won't be able to cherry pick powers. The custom critters will come with a standard set of powers the devs pick and then we can "add" more powers to them. Obviously since the custom critters are already overpowered this change is not helpful to balancing things out the way they need to be.
I don't think this is helpful in any way to MA missions using "customs" as they are just too hard to "balance" when they come out the shoot already way more powerful than the PvE critters and that is not something that is hard to figure out. -

I wish that the AE never ever came to CoH because "FOR ME" it ruined the game...I can never find teams...everyone is always at the AE. and i don't like those mishes...I like the CoH created ones...and why doesn't any go to farm at paragrine island(i dunno what its called) any more? I LOVED THAT PLACE! now its empty...
[/ QUOTE ]
Its early in the AE cycle and adjustments are being made that will return more hardcore farmers that charge 1-15 million per run back to Granville and PI as they have already started moving back there tonight. Now you can go back there and be frustrated by not finding 40+ teams there not farming just like the old days. Happy? -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm asking for something rather reasonable, I think -- for custom mobs to be approximately equivalent to normal enemy groups of the same level. We know that MA mobs are somewhat more powerful, but it's not sensible for them to be overwhelmingly more powerful, especially when their ranged damage exceeds that of their primary, melee powers.
[/ QUOTE ]
It is getting tougher to be patient with people that are not dealing with this core issue. -
No I thinks its alot eaiser to scale the ranged attack like it is for PvE critters.
