Actually this change is going to make me drop Wormhole from all my Grav builds. The increase in disorient duration tells me that the power is going to go live as an AoE.

I used Wormhole as a placement power to pull, push, and move individual anchors and troublesome foes but the AoE change has killed that for me. I'm not going to use it to pull because I can't just get one when soloing and teams don't need the controller to pull the entire group. I can't push with it anymore because I can't control what I send away and what gets left behind. Moving stuff around in battle has the same problem as pushing but with the added problem of knockback, I could take CF to deal with that but then I have to slot two powers to replace one unslotted power.

You know, now that Wormhole is AoE, it wouldn't be stepping on any toes if they improved Teleport Foe to act more like the old Wormhole did (minus the disorient and knockback, of course). You could place single foes where you need them, remove eminators, etc. And since Teleport Foe has no prerequisite, it could easily be taken instead of the current Wormhole, for those who don't like the AoE version. Or take both for even more fun.

The only hang up with that idea is it will take up one of your power pool slots.

    XP and I5

    [ QUOTE ]
Couple of changes we're making in I5:

    1) Instead of the first five levels being debt free, the first TEN levels will be debt free.

    2) XP debt will be halved on mission maps (that includes outdoor mission maps, too).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hmm... Option 1... while interesting, I'd honestly prefer to see some sort of in-game reason for this. Heck, one that explains what debt is "in-game" would be nice. My personal take on Option 1 is that 1-5 should be no debt. 6-10 should be 1/2 debt. 11+ full debt. A good reason for this is that the city understands that new heroes need an ajustment time and this is to help them adjust to life in Paragon City.

Option 2... I like it. I won't have much use for it as I don't die much in missions anymore. I know of several people for whom this will be a godsend though.
  3. There's a phrase that every dictator / ruler needs to learn...

The tighter you squeeze, the more that slips through your fingers.

The tighter they make the game restrictions on how we can play, the more likely it is that people will simply walk.

I have plenty of tolerance for my characters being adjusted, if I can be shown a definite need for the action. I don't see a need for this action even with the statements given thus far. This action doesn't address / accomplish their desired goals.

Earlier in this thread, I gave an outstanding idea on how to gut PLing via restricting the upper limit on a per mob basis of how much xp you can get. In a nutshell, cap earned xp per mob at character_level +4. That would mean a +4 mob and a +8 mob are worth the same thing... a +4 mob. That takes the heart right out of herd PLing because it's no longer the xp cow it once was.
  4. That's a lot more hoping and praying than I prefer to have when playing my controller.

Then again, I suppose that's why I use the three brothers Darryl when occasions like that come up.

These changes to Wormhole aren't enough to make me want to get it. That's too bad really because it sounds like a fun power but it simply doesn't mesh with my playstyle.
  5. CB, what about casting times though? GDF & GD aren't exactly the fastest casting powers in the game.

Will that disorient last long enough to cast both GDF & GD?

Heck it gets a bit to bogged down for me, but it's just so darn flexible. In my opinion any system that wants to do Superhero must have that flexibility (if not the large amount of mathmatical formula and charts.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

This right here illustrates my biggest gripe with PnP RPG players - that they require a "flexible" system. What the hell? Every RPG system is 100% flexible! When did "if its not in the rules it can't be done" become the PnP way? I've encountered the over and over with RPG players for some time now and it boggles me.

You need something or don't like something that the rules have/don't have. MAKE IT THE FUNK UP! The more simple the system the better really. I think RPG players have gotten bound up in numbers, charts and rules and forget what the they are actually playing.

Damn lazy as GMs and tightass players refuse to think and will only accept what is presented to them in 12 point B&W font.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Very true. In fact several of the D20 books I have for D&D also state that if you & your group don't like something, CHANGE IT.

PNP RPGS' heart & soul is the creativity of the players & GMs. With their creativity, a good system becomes great.
  7. I guess I'll be the one lone dissenter... I don't really care for Striga. I don't like the feel or the atmosphere.

Sure, the missions are a bit different but the last few I've had there are "Ugh, this is making me sick". I was actually getting nauseous from a couple, not due to content or story but just from the atmosphere and "blah" of it.

BTW, whose bright idea was it to put a Purple Elite boss in a Heroic difficulty mission (Hercules/Herakles)? Said elite boss was also +2 LEVELS on the character (level 25 boss, character was 23). Needless to say, I ended up with 2 bars of debt before he was defeated. Before anyone says "team up next time", none of my friends were on and I don't care for pickup teaming.
  8. Another problem is "/follow"

The list says it's /follow = 1 to follow the selected target and /follow = 0 to stop.

If you type /follow = 1 or /follow 1, the game returns a message saying /Follow only requires 0 arguments, you gave 1.

/Follow is now a toggle instead of argument driven. If I could always toggle it on when I execute a /bind or a /macro, it'd greatly make playing my scrapper easier.

All I'm trying to do with her is set it up such that when I have her attack a target, it queues the attack, and turns on follow. Obviously, there is no auto-attack. I also want to have it tied such that everytime I hit that button, it queues the attack and turn /follow ON.

The problem is, if /follow is ON, hitting any button with /follow will turn /follow OFF.
  9. Can anyone here help me with a bind?

I'm trying to set up a bind that will...

    1. select the target for attack
    2. turn follow on
    3. attack the target

What I have right now sort of does that.

    /bind 1 "powexec_name divine avalanche$$follow"

The problem occurs that when I hit 1 again, it does the attack but ALSO turns follow off.

    I tried the following:

    /bind 1 "powexec_name divine avalanche$$follow 1"

but all it did was complain about me giving follow an arg when it requires 0 args.

Is there some way to force FOLLOW on when I press a button rather than toggle it based on its current state?

What I want is a one button solution that readies the weapon, turns on follow (each time I hit the button), and proceeds to attack one time.

    Suggestions?

    Quick update...

Welcome back. I hope all went well for you..
  11. The mission scales up based upon your level...
  12. That said... I still wouldn't mind seeing the broadcast thingie saying "Villain Group X is attempting to break Bobby the Knife out of Prison" as a call for heroes to come stop the jail break.

And of course, vice versa if a hero group is trying to save their friend from a villain's holding cell dungeon. Think of it along the lines of your friends coming to break the door down in the 5th column prison cells.
  13. I've made more changes than that in a year's time and the only time I ever had to reactivate was when I did a clean install.

BTW, if the changes are made over time, the activation counter does normalize to your current configuration. So if you only changed sound & video one month and a few months passed before doing more changes, the system will have normalized to the changed hardware and treat it as baseline.

So bashing XP because you don't like activation is bunk. Even moreso since your cited reasons are false. It sounds more like sour grapes towards Microsoft than being anyhting wrong with Windows.

Perhaps you should read up on how activation works rather than spout off anti-Microsoft crap. Otherwise, you just appear to be nothing but a Linux fanboi.

For the record, Windows & Linux are both good. Just how good depends on what use you have for them.

    What gives?
