The other nominees were mentioned in Mekk's thread as well. But congrats here too!

Quote:Well, by that example, I'd have to say anyone that has played the game for more than a year fits that description. They may say they create something for "concept" (something I could claim as well), but even within that concept, people will do the analysis you described above. Once you play the game long enough, that analysis becomes subconscious... we may not all be making the "right" decisions (all depends on who you askAll it really means is getting the MAXimum out of your character, for the MINinmum amount of "resources". Resources in this context meaning slots, enhancers, etc.
When a lot of people here say they are "just-enoughers" that's really in the true spirit of min-maxing. I think many confuse min-maxing with powergaming, which is getting as much of the POWER!! as you can, whatever the cost.
EXAMPLE: A powergamer might spend 500 million inf or more for 2% extra defense if it will get him or her to the soft-cap. A min-maxer might make a cost benefit analysis and be happy if they can get to 40% defense for the a much lesser price.) in that analysis, but we all probably do it.
So in summary, yes... the server is probably full of min/maxers... but a bunch of them will probably be surprised that you would call them such. -
Quote:And so begins Neutra's long planned take over of Paragon Studios...I finally finished my Bachelors of Game Development at Full Sail after a long, hard 21 months and it was the best experience of my life.
Whoops, was I not supposed to give that away?
Seriously though, hope you find somewhere fun to work. If you're ever in the Phoenix area to check out one of the few developers around (especially the one I'm at), let me know... I'll buy you a... whatever your drink of choice is. -
I am expecting that we might get fewer people due to Hero Con. This is why I picked the common co-op ITF. If we only get a few signups, we'll run around trick or treating and killing zombies or something.

For the most part, everything went fine for the one run we finished. Thanks go to Killer for organizing the hero side of things and recruiting PvPers as things progressed. Also, thanks to SuperGoober we were finally able to take down Statesman. The PvP changes definitely make a huge difference in fighting these AVs. While most were handled pretty well, Statesman was a bear that took 3 (I think) attempts before we finally managed it... and Goob switched from heroes to villains to gives us one more body to throw at him.
Since PvP picked up by the time the second run started and we were down a couple people, we ended the event after that.
If anyone wants to try this again at some point for either side, be sure to remind me via PM in a month or two and I'll set up another one. -
Quote:I'm still not entirely sure how much the PvP changes have impacted this. The last time I did this was before all of that went in and we didn't have any issues.Although I suspect that more participants will show up tomorrow morning than we see here, I would suggest that people try to have Shivans and nukes if possible. I don't know if these Heroes really are tougher than their in-mission counterparts, but they always seem like it to me.
It definitely never hurts to have the utility of those temp powers just in case they are needed. -
Sorry about that. I updated the original post with the times. 1pm eastern time is when I usually try to start this. Depending on where in Australia you are, that would be anywhere from 4am to 7am for you I believe.

Yep, it's time to head to RV and hunt some AVs. We'll be after the hero AVs this time, so that means teams of villains that are interested in the badges or the AV fighting. We'll also need a few people hero side to retake pillboxes. I'm willing to do two runs if we have enough people that can stay/switch hero side for a second run. When signing up, make sure you specify whether you can switch, or if you wish to only help out on the hero side. Please specify any and all characters you want to bring for each run, and make sure they are all parked in or near RV for Saturday.
Apologies for forgetting this part: Meet in RV at 12:45pm eastern time and hopefully we will start by 1pm eastern time.

Quote:One of the few times I was in a PvP zone I ran in to this. I think it's Siren's Call where you get bounties for players in-zone. I missed the /broadcast announcement by a couple of people that were dueling or rep farming (this was before the fix for that) or whatever it was they were doing in the corner. Being clueless to what was going on I defeated my bounty and was promptly subjected to all sorts of nasty /tells about it. This was followed by drone teleporting and other fun things before I finally managed to get out of the zone. Is still the only bounty kill I've ever managed to do though I think, but then, I'm not a PvPer... was just curious how the bounty thing worked.Dueling in zones is like having sex in the park. Yes, it can be fun and exciting, but don't be surprised if someone interrupts you and catches you with your pants down. If you want privacy, GET A ROOM!
That said, you don't HAVE to break up duels if you don't want to. There are plenty of times I have let people have their one on one. And other times where I have broken them up. -
Quote:Two teams man... two teams.you seem to have enough but ... I will still sign up ... just in case ...
I have a sonic/Ice (35) corr (Night Siren) that I could bring ... or some 50s if prefered.Ice Mistral only requires 4. The follow up ITF on the other hand, we might have to get a few more to get two teams for that.

It's back to the red side this week for an Ice Mistral run (L35-40). The usual 1pm eastern time applies with gathering in the casino in St. Martial at 12:45. Also, this SF is usually fairly quick, so I'll offer up the possibility for a double header if things go well and there is enough interest. Let's say... maybe... an ITF afterward since it also involves crystals.
If anyone would prefer something else as a follow up, mention it when you sign up!

1. Darkbridger - Pain Threshold (L35 Elec/Pain Corr)
2. Allyriah - Ampyriah (L35 Elec/Elec Brute)
3. IceKnight
4. CinderSpawn
5. ArwenDarkblade - Acid Raine (L35 Rad/Rad Corr)
6. PhantomEnigma - Whine Cooler (L35 Sonic/Cold Corr)

Quote:Yep, that's the problem right there. I'm sure they have some reason for it, but I find it questionable that whatever reason it is, it is more important the inconvenience of their customers. EU Servers should go through maintenance on an EU time frame. Sadly, the Australian players get left out in this no matter what, as they don't have a dedicated server to get the schedule changed for. While I believe that trying to coordinate server maintenance between 3 server sites is a flawed idea at best thats what they seem to want/need to do.
Hopefully this whole process will go through further restructuring. -
Popping into the middle of this because the thread was intriguing, and there are points here I agree with, to some degree.
Quote:I readily admit I am one of these players. The purples I've gotten as drops I still have as I haven't decided whether I might want them on some character somewhere. I think I have 6 or so amongst all my characters. Mostly, it's time. I don't consider myself overly casual, but I just don't enjoy logging in and "farming" a mission for several hours. It gets boring and tedious fairly quickly. I'm also not a marketeer... it's just not how I want to spend my time in the game. But im sure there are probably tons of players in the real game that have just written off the idea of ever earning these rewards because of cost, or time, or how they would have to play to earn them steadily.
Quote:Even someone that commonly wants to run TFs or mission would probably like to have a character that is that strong when running a STF or LRTF and such.
Quote:But it does kinda feel like there is a tier of this game that is simply off limits unless i want to funamentally change how spend my time in game. And i personally dont feel that is the best design to follow for a game that has so little to actually use that next teir of abilities agianst.
I applaud the market gurus and the purple farmers, because you have far more patience than I do for such things. The more of you out there doing it, the slightly more likely it is that I might someday have a purple or two to rub together on a character. -
It's true, I despise the shadow shard. So in a rare event, I'm going to offer up one of the TFs for the Matinée. We'll go with the Saga of Lanaru (L44-50) at the usual 1pm eastern start time. Feel free to cast a vote for a non-Shard TF if you're also a shard hater like me... if prevailing opinion is for something else, I can switch.
1. Darkbridger - Cold Caress (L46 Cold/Ice Defender)

3. Katfood
4. Killerhurtz
5. Cinderspawn

7. syrusb - Capacitor Tekk (L? Rad/Elec Defender)

Quote:You misunderstand... it's not that she won't fall in line, it's that the artists are on her payroll too. If the two of you were to have a falling out, an artist civil war could very well erupt, endangering the entire server in the process.Muah ahahahahah fear teh artists! Also Kat will never fall in line. Damn catgirls anyways...
-
How have we put up with you? Easy... everytime someone even starts to think something negative about the TA, an artist slips from the shadows and silences them forever. The rest of us kind of fell in line after the bodies started turning up... except for Kat of course.

Can't... resist... urge... to... channel... Cacophonous Rex...
Yeah
You are my fire
PvP desire
Believe when I say
I want it Swiss way
But we are two rounds apart
winning from the start
when you play
you take it the Swiss way
Tell me why
Ain't nothin' but a heartache
Tell me why
Ain't nothin' but a mistake
Tell me why
I never wanna hear you say
I want it Swiss way
Am I your fire
PvP desire
I know I won too late
But I want it Swiss way
Tell me why
Ain't nothin' but a heartache
Tell me why
Ain't nothin' but a mistake
Tell me why
I never wanna hear you say
I want it Swiss way
Now I can see brackets falling apart
lose your way to the final match, yeah
No matter the record
random final show
Deep down inside PvP
You are my fire
PvP desire
You are
You are, you are, you are
Don't wanna hear you say
Ain't nothin' but a heartache
Ain't nothing but a mistake
(Don't wanna hear you say)
I never wanna hear you say
I want it Swiss way
Tell me why
Ain't nothin' but a heartache
Tell me why
Ain't nothin' but a mistake
Tell me why
I never wanna hear you say
(Don't wanna hear you say it)
I want it Swiss way
I want it Swiss way

Quote:Fixed apparently... or will be soon... from the test server patch notes:That was before the revised rep levels, so it may be intended to vary with rep now. I'd love to see a 55 Recluse and sig vills on the STF. It would actually force you to work at it, if only for a whirl around the block.
Level 54 Archvillains / Heroes should now appear in Task / Strike Forces again.
Added restrictions to prevent player difficulty from affecting Task / Strike Forces
