He is NOT at Cryptic. His LinkedIn page very definitely has him looking for employment.
And if I knew of a place in Seattle, I'd refer him there in a heartbeat.

Damn it, now I'm depressed. Chris was one of the nicest devs at PS - for me at least, he was generous with his time and help in working with his animations in demo files, making suggestions for models and animations, ways to improve models and ragdoll stuff in my vids, and so on.
Still, clear skies and safe landings wherever he ends up.

I SHOULD be there, but in my standard dress+trenchcoat outfit as videographer Johanna Sinclair. I am a NON-COMBATANT so I can film awesomeness.

Quote:Yeah! That way you could be a Villain but a "Secret Santa", or a Heroic "Scrooge"!I think this is a fantastic idea and should be repeated for every holiday event.
Hell, I don't think it would be out of line to add 5 tips, independent of the Fame bar, and then open up a special prize for completing a "Holiday Morality"

Personally, I would think that being stuck hanging around in IP with two psychics watching your every move from the other side of the hospital would be banishment enough. That's as close to another dimension as we can get short of hopping through Portal Corp.

For me, it's less about shunting him aside as the question of "who takes his place"? Who else would Paragon City (and the world) consider its shining beacon of hope? You've got the Phalanx as a group, which isn't too bad as a whole, but really there's no single living hero who might have stepped into that role.

Quote:Bah, I'm nothing special.I won't pretend to be on Samuraiko's level, but here's my go at it.
You're welcome... and again, I'm nothing special.Quote:I was worried this would devolve into what these threads usually devolve into: iPwn, Followed by Ninjas, Deja Vuvuzela and that sort of "joke characters," like that Malibu Ken I ran across the other day. Thank you, Samuraiko, for proving me wrong and restoring my faith
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed TCoSR! The next chapter is almost done...Quote:Well, Samuraiko pitched in with the Nerd Flirter herself, so I'd say it's been fairly serious so far. Why not try adding a couple of your own, try and keep it about good writing and believeable motivations
By the way, Samuraiko, I read TCoSR not that long ago. It was incredible. Thanks so much for all the hours you must've put into it.
Here, btw, are the actual in-game bios for Agent Tavarisch, Agent Blake, and one of my villains, the natural-origin Mercs/TA Mastermind, Profiteer. (I STILL can't believe I got that name on Justice, and as late in the game as I did... and then they created an accolade named Profiteer too! I was so stoked...) They'd have much lengthier ones, but the 1024-character limit is a pain.
Quote:Theoretical physicist, gadgeteer, and researcher, Sorina 'Tava' Tavarisch is one of the new generation of scientists and superheroes taking part in the cooperative efforts of the United States and Russia. (Her older brother, Stefan, currently serves as Molotov Svbody (Freedom's Hammer), one of the Valiant Defenders, based in Moscow.) After Vanguard was formed, Sorina joined when she proved talented at field-adapting Rikti technology. Later, when the Freedom Corps branch known as Star Patrol was formed, she was recruited by Agent Joelle Wright to further their mission as a more 'hands-on' division. Sorina serves as a Commander in the Star Patrol, and is their Vanguard liaison. As she is bilingual in English and Russian (with what she jokingly calls a 'minor in Rikti'), the others tease her by calling her "Comrade" instead of "Agent," as her name closely resembles the Russian word 'tovarich', or 'comrade.' Sorina is currently dating Dr Raymond Keyes, aka Positron. Quote:Funloving and psychic, Andrea Blake joined the Star Patrol for the simplest reason - the excitement. However, not being the physically strongest meant leaving the frontline combat to those better suited to it. Not the easiest thing in the world for the headstrong Andrea. However, after being shot and killed in the line of duty, she returned from the Netherworld wielding greater power - dark power. Now her body might not be the strongest in the Patrol, but her spirit is certainly the most resilient, and her repeated forays into death means that she can tap into the Netherworld and the depths of the human mind at will. Now as long as she remembers to stay near the stronger members (and keep them and herself healed), she can enjoy the excitement of being a Star Patrol member to her heart's content and her body's relief. (Andrea also on-again-off-again dates Steven Berry, aka Synapse, though neither expects the relationship to become serious.) MichelleQuote:For the mercenary leader Profiteer, the only thing that matters is the money. Whether you need someone rescued, kidnapped, exonerated, or framed, she'll take on the job if the fee is right. Need something stolen? Replaced? Planted? Profiteer and her mercs are the team for you. She works both sides of the fence without reservation, and holds no loyalty except to herself and her own men. Once she takes on a job, however, she sees it through... but there's nothing to stop her from turning on you as soon as the job's done if someone's paid her price. While her mercenary soldiers combine brute strength with covert stealth, Profiteer herself prefers the quick and silent method of archery. Her gimmicked arrows are outfitted with a number of stolen technologies to soften up opponents before her mercs mow them down. Profiteer is also one of the foremost smugglers and purveyors of goods from Paragon City to the Rogue Isles. From the docks to the dives, she knows where the goods are... and who will pay for them.

Incidentally, I'm also doing the "Instant Army" arc, but I'm copying all the text and whatnot so it can be added to the ParagonWiki.

It's a reference to the three main stars of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog - Felicia Day, Neil Patrick Harris, and Nathan Fillion.

Let's see...
Agent Tavarisch (tech, grav/kin controller) is one of Vanguard's leading scientists. She doesn't have any powers of her own (or so she tells everyone), but she's fantastic at reverse-engineering other technology to help metas control/enhance/suppress their own abilities. Most of her abilities are ones she's adapted from the Rikti.
Agent Blake (science, dark/psi defender) on the other hand was born psychic, and with a reckless streak the length of Independence Port. When she jumped into a mob of a dozen Skulls surrounding another young woman, determined to save her, they shot Blake several times and threw her body into an alleyway. Imagine their surprise when Blake came back from the Netherworld, channeling its power as her own, and promptly wreaked havoc on them while saving their intended victim.

So I'm running the new variant of the Tina MacIntyre arc (in Ouro, it's "The Instant Army"), going along, enjoying it immensely...
... then I get to the last mission. Oh good, helpers. Thank you, Vanguard - help is always appreciated.
Their names? Day, Fillion, and Harris.
I nearly got killed by the Clockwork mob that wandered into me as I just stopped in the hall and was like, "oh you MUST be joking..."
/facepalm

It's a known issue. Sound has been gone since I think I-18/GR (or some time around that). I don't know why - I have done experimenting every way I know how (using Zloth's Demo Launcher, using drag-and-drop-launch, using DOS commands), but with no success. Doesn't really bother me since I'm not usually using the in-game sound.
It's been submitted as a /bug, but I suggest doing it again, just in case. I know it's LOW on their priority list, but do it anyway.

To the OP:
In the meantime, keep running the LGTF - each time it's completed, it spawns a Rikti invasion right afterward. Only problem is not knowing which zone it'll be in (including red or blueside). And as long as you're not going for the MoLGTF badge, you can probably haul through it reasonably quickly.
But I agree, I love Rikti invasions. Talk about a great place to get a lot of your badges at once - healing badges, damage badges, mez badges, mentoring badges...

Quote:*grins*Exactly the kind of creative rush that had me do an introduction course, a part-time 32-week 3DS Max course last Sept '09 to June '10... And wow is it complex!, I mean to get a really good animation of a decent length with a high poly model and all the animation weighted and timed right to look realistic with real world physics. Definately gave me a new respect for the ridiculous amount of work that goes into every frame times 24 of every second times every render pass of every animation. Nightmare.
Makes you realise that a lot of these animations are truely collaborations of a great many specialised artists; modellers, texture artists, animation artists, vfx artists, enviromental artists and script programmers. No mans a mountain but subscribing to digitaltutors.com, gnomon workshop.com or lynda.com helps.
Thanks for the links, I will definitely give them a look (although finding an actual class for Blender would be wonderful - I learn better in that kind of environment). But where am I going to find a team of schmucks as dedicated to making free videos for this game as I am? :S

Wow... damn it, I wish I could learn how to USE stuff like this. My brain is immediately going, "CGI vids for COH, WOOT!" But then I look at programs like Maya and 3dS and my brain promptly melts.

Quote:1. FemaleSo I'm writing a research paper for my English class on the differences between male and female gamers, and since CoX has such a high percentage of female players (myself included) I figured this would be a good place to gather some information. So, if you all could answer a few questions for me, that'd be great:
1. Are you male or female?
2. What ATs do you mostly play, and for what reason(s)?
3. Redside, blueside, purpleside, or any combination of the above?
4. What are your favorite story arcs?
5. What makes you like this game?
6. What other games do you play?
7. How long have you been playing?
8. How many alts do you have, what is the average level range, and how many are level 50?
9. Do you bother with softcaps, set bonuses, and all that numerical stuff? What difficulty settings to you normally use?
2. Blasters (trollers/defs/corrs close behind), because I enjoy beating from range
3. All of the above
4. Adair's arc (from I-17), the Warden/Resistance arcs (especially Aaron Walker')
5. The story, the setting, the community, the FUN
6. AION
7. Since July 2007
8. Probably 30 alts total, I think 7 50s, average level range about 25-30
9. I don't bother with the math, and tend to run on 0/x2 on everything except my MMs, who run usually at 0/x8.
Good luck with your paper!

Red is the symbol of good fortune and prosperity in Chinese culture (hence the reason you see it often used so prominently) - almost every wall/ceiling hanging accessory has a tassel like that at the bottom if it's meant to bring good fortune into the home.

40-54. As I mentioned, I'm less interested in a review of the story than I am in the mechanics of timed missions and bosses, etc. The story, as Venture pointed out, needs work.
