And now there's water spewed all over my desk.
Paragon City really needs a football team. I personally think the Paragon City Enforcers works...

Whatever it is, I hope to God I'm not expected to do an ad for it on this short notice.
And Clockwork, feel free to do your sociological research. But remember, you will need to submit it for review upon completion, and I will be checking your work.

That's actually the 'avatar' of the article's author, not the usual 'stock photo' thing. I wonder if she's actually a COH player, or if she just found the pic and thought it was cute.

Quote:AAAARRRGGHH! When I started reading this afternoon I was hoping you'd finished your story! On the plus side, I can pass the time until the rest of the book daydreaming about punching the temple tyrant and Cende's fiance the way God intended. I just hope they're psychic, so they can see my fist is an inseperable part of their future, like Mother Mayhem did.Quote:Working. Working. I blame Samuraiko. She's got too many projects, she writes slow.
Quote:I saw Samuraiko's Heart Divided video, and like everyone else wondered who Cende was and when we'd find out more about her. In TCoSR II we learn she's Star Patrol, but curiously she isn't listed at Star Patrol.net.
Quote:We think we got the timelines straightened out. Took a couple of hours over lunch but we think we got it worked out. We need to finish putting in some details, and then we can post the timeline to current publish.
Quote:... I put the kind words first, so you'd know I enjoy your story and appreciate you writing it. However, the story takes a long time to get going, as you acknowledge in your opening post, and her job at Longbow doesn't seem to accomplish anything. I think it would flow better if the first chapter has her getting off the plane with the stated goal of killing Statesman for the valley king, and doling out temple scenes as flashbacks every time one of the characters calls her out on her skimpy history, when the Seeker astrally projects to her apartment, or on each of her visits back home. I don't expect you to change anything, but I thought you might not have looked at it from this angle.
*goes back to writing the next chapter of TCOSR II*

My Grav/Kin controls the ebb and flow of dynamic energy all the way down to the cellular level thanks to her gauntlets. She's a natural telekinetic (albeit a very weak one), but this just ramps her power up significantly.

My, my, my... aren't they just the naughty boys?
*smirks* As if Posi should be complaining when he scores with a hot Russian scientist. Even if it does inadvertently lead to them having an accident in the lab...
Yeah, you're skating pretty close to the line on some of those, but they're still amusing as hell.
(BTW, Synapse is actually an accountant, according to quasi-canon... but I'm sure you could have come up with equally risque innuendos for working with aggressive takeovers and benefits negotations... etc etc etc)

Personally, I'd love to see it done like YouTube.
Like/Dislike. Bye-bye star ratings.
You can subscribe to authors whose arcs you've enjoyed, receiving gleemail notifications when an author you've subscribed to adds a new arc.
And the UI shows "because you played X, you might like Y".
And the front page should CONSTANTLY be random, with say 2 random DCs listed first, and the remaining 18 (or however many display per page) being random arcs. If people then CHOOSE to sort by "Likes", "Title", or some other search feature, fine. But STRICTLY FOR MYSELF, I am so sick and tired of seeing the same 20 arcs on the front page. Give me raw variety every single time.
As far as anti-griefing measures:
a) you must complete an arc before you can rate it.
b) you cannot PLAY more than 5 (or maybe 10) arcs in a 24-hour period.
c) you cannot RATE more than 5 (or 10) arcs in a 24-hour period.
d) put a cooldown time between arc ratings to minimize the likelihood of griefing.

Quote:+1 rep for the reference to one of my favorite characters and series of all time.I'd like to live just long enough to be there when they cut off your head and stick it on a pike as a warning to the next ten generations that real money transfers come with too high a price. Wait, who's this John guy? I don't know about him, but I'd be nervous about being so close to someone married for nine years to a guy named BloodSpeaker. Sounds to me like he's just asking for an ***-kickin'.
And I have no problem stomping on him when needed.

Quote:*laughs*Quote:
- After deciding to hold the wedding in Vegas, being told by Caesar's Palace that as "they advocated traditional values, a pagan handfasting would not be welcome in their establishment"
But yeah, humor always helps ease the stress of the ceremony. As my dad was preparing to walk my sister down the aisle, he gently remarked to her:
"I just want you to know, I'm not wearing any underwear."
But hey, it worked
Happy Anniversary
Yeah, when my mom and I were checking out various resorts in Vegas for where to hold the ceremony, we checked out... Paris, Caesar's Palace, the Venetian, the Bellagio, and the MGM Grand (where we ended up having it). Paris's chapel was too small, the Venetian HAS no chapel, and the Bellagio was just too expensive.
In each place while talking to the convention/event services agent, I would 'mention' to my mom (while holding a copy of the ceremony) my concerns about whether there'd be enough room. Apart from the Venetian, each agent would then look at me and inquire, "You mean this isn't a traditional wedding?" "Oh, no," I'd blithely reply, "it's a pagan handfasting. Still got the white dress and the tux, but totally different ceremony."
The one at Paris just sort of nodded, as did the one at the Bellagio. The one at Caesar's stopped in her tracks and gave me this very disapproving look (ironically right after we'd almost chosen to have it there because their garden courtyard is lovely), and started lecturing me. So much for that.
On the flipside, at the MGM Grand, when I mentioned that incident, not only did the services people think it was neat, but the RABBI that officiated there loved the ceremony and wanted to perform it for us... except for the fact that we were scheduled to get married 10 minutes after sundown and he wouldn't be able to.

I won't need the costume file, but I WILL need a demorecord of your character.
1) Log into the game on whichever character you want to appear, and wearing the costume you want to appear.
2) If you've got an SG base, head into it.
3) Once inside the base, type /demorecord CoVHNAME (replacing NAME with your character name as one word, so for example /democord CoVHdustraven ).
4) Count to 10, then type /demostop.
5) Go into c:\Program Files\City of Heroes\client_demos.
6) You'll find the file as a .cohdemo file (it's openable with Notepad).
Send me a PM via the forums when you have this and I'll give you my email address. I have ideas for some seriously bada** shots of you and Mysterious Mike.

Quote:Here's a bit of history for you -If that's not a freaking superhero name I don't know what is.
Anahid - pagan goddess of fire, war, and poetry (related to Anahita)
Nersesian - patronymic name indicating "son/descendant of Nerses", who created the Armenian alphabet system
Michelle, of course, being the female derivative of Michael, or "who is like God" in Hebrew.

Quote:Middle name - Anahid (AH-nah-heed) (Armenian)Now I am very curious, what is your middle and maiden last name? O.O
Last name - Nersesian (Nurr-SEHS-yuhn) (also Armenian)
For the most part, pronounced how they look, but nooooooooooo... crap, I had people constantly mispronouncing both. Ugh.
When John and I got engaged, I threatened to make him change HIS name. We agreed it'd be cruel and unusual punishment.

Quote:Actually... our wedding video does not in fact contain the vast majority of the comedy of errors leading up to our wedding, which includes (but is not limited to):6) Watch Wedding video together... complain about all the errors and mistakes... shake head at what a noob you were back then...
- Having to explain to my devout Methodist father-in-law-to-be that a pagan handfasting did not, in fact, involve the sacrifice of pigs
- After deciding to hold the wedding in Vegas, being told by Caesar's Palace that as "they advocated traditional values, a pagan handfasting would not be welcome in their establishment"
- The jeweler mis-sizing our rings 3 weeks before the ceremony and having to have them resized
- The best man finding out a WEEK before the wedding that a) his paycheck was being delayed and b) they weren't authorizing his requested vacation time to attend the wedding
- Having to have my brother step in as best man
- The tux rental place losing John's tux TWO DAYS before the wedding
- My in-laws-to-be missing the rehearsal dinner because they couldn't find a parking space and hadn't thought to valet park the car
- Breaking one of my teeth on SALAD at the rehearsal dinner
- Realizing that we had neglected to bring bread and wine for the ceremony so my brother dashed off to get some - and came back with a full bottle and a football-sized loaf when all we needed was a glass and a slice
- Seeing that the mother of the bride getting married just BEFORE me in the chapel was wearing the same dress as MY mother - we have a picture
What it DOES include, however... is the best error of the lot, and easily the funniest.
In the typical rush of the rehearsal, while going over the vows, we... sort of glossed over things. I mean, the officiant went, "Okay, and it'll be, 'I, John... blah blah...' then 'I, Michelle... blah blah blah...'" and that was it. We didn't think anything of it because we were repeating our vows, so there was nothing to memorize.
Cue the wedding. The bride is radiant. The groom is handsome. The mothers of the bride and groom are quietly weeping. The fathers are stoic and proud (and the Methodist is uncomfortable but making do). And we get to the vows. And the officiant, reading from the script we'd given her, starts so John can repeat after her.
"'I, John Franklin Travis, do take Michelle..."
And pauses.
Now, we both know the ceremony, so we wait for her to continue... because she's supposed to say MY full name. And we wait. And we wait. And then we glance at her. She has a very perplexed expression on her face.
Now the camera happens to be zoomed in on our faces, and kid you not, the dawning comprehension of "Oh, S***, we forgot to tell her how to pronounce my middle and last name" is written all over our expressions. John *tries* to sotto voce it to her, but it doesn't quite reach, and I start giggling up at the altar, just as my parents realize what the problem is. My dad thinks this is funny - my mother does not. My grandmother is HUGELY smiling at this.
The officiant gamely takes a shot at my name (gets it wrong), and John and I promptly crack up laughing (I tried to hide my face in my bouquet - it didn't work). John corrects her more audibly, and now everyone in the chapel realizes what the problem is, and everyone laughs (including the officiant). She tries again, gets my middle name right, LAST name wrong, we correct her again (I'm now doubled over at the altar, while my matron of honor and junior bridesmaid are giggling, and my brother is facepalming and muttering "you idiots"), and on we go.
We were smirking all the way through the rest of the ceremony.
Ahhhhh, we are such fun.

I'm just glad they continued to use in-game footage. There are few things that irritate me more than games that blow their advertising on all CGI that looks NOTHING like the game itself.

Today (9.28), BloodSpeaker and I celebrate 9 years of marriage.
City of Heroes has been a source of a lot of great memories for us. John got me into COH (he started around Dec 2006, I joined in July 2007). Our two mains are en/en blasters and masterminds (his is necro/dark, mine is mercs/TA). Our first REAL vacation together was HeroCon 2008. Some of our closest friends now came into our lives thanks to this game.
It really is true - the couple that plays together, stays together.
Though if he gets one more purple recipe on one of MY tip missions, I'm gonna kill him.
DING!

Seems they actually contracted this one out (hence its serious standout difference from the usual COH ads), rather than doing this in-house ("in-house" referring to the NCsoft Creative Services team up at Seattle HQ). I was just happy to see it wasn't a series of 'animated patch notes'.
Misleading or not, it's still a spiffy looking ad. *sighs, but brightens* But hey, this means that now they actually are spending $$ on the ads, which is promising!
(So now I can stop making trailers again, and go on with my projects for music videos and stuff.)

FINALLY!
After four years, a balls-to-the-walls, OMG-I-want-to-play-this-NOW trailer that the game has needed and deserved! (And I want that music!) THIS was the ad that should have been shown at SDCC...
Wow. And now that we have weekly content/market/stuff, I can go back into retirement. The ads are now in good hands.

Quote:I'd actually love to see all of Skyway done like that, a huge revamp of the zone (and part of Talos completely wrecked, same for Steel and Kings) - let's see the fallout from the Praetorian attacks!Y'know, Skyway is sorta redundant. I like the zone a great deal, but after the Sutter TF, I could see it going away. Or getting a revamp.
If we're looking at zones that got bombed to hell and back, Kings Row and well, the zone that showed up in the recent Signature story could get radical facelifts.
