The interview with Dark Respite is my all time favorite article. Excuse me while I pester Dark with praise and questions.
[/ QUOTE ]
BTW, having watched Sentai Sage's stuff, I'm thinking that SS should be the next Featured Video Artist.
Cheers again to Dirtwolf for the harassmen-... er... free publici-... um... interview!

I've been blown away by your work since I first saw it. Looking forward to the next one.

Thanks very much for the compliment. I actually JUST found the music today for my full I-11 trailer, which will totally rock, even if I do say so myself.
And give NaNo a try - you never know how far you'll get.

That edition was so good it was downright spoooky! Great artwork, great articles, great everything. I also loved the interview with Samuraiko.
PS she's already made a couple of videos so cool that Cryptic should totally hire her already!

From your mouth to Cryptic's ears... and thanks for the praise!

Hooray! I'm in the Scoop!
One small problem! My username doesn't appear next to my actual name! (It just has ", also known as Michelle Travis"!)

I like it... but, minor bone of contention, shouldn't the 1940s be the "rise of the 5th Column"? The council's "rise" was very recent, although they'd existed previously.
[/ QUOTE ]
According to one of the timelines I was provided, the Council split off from Arachnos in 1940. So I used that.

And as so often happens, I trip over the perfect music for the full I-11 trailer. And no, I'm not telling, because I want it to be a surprise. But thanks to everyone who offered suggestions!

Very funky... I have the Gladiator score (I ADORE Hans Zimmer), and am familiar with classical music as well. I was toying with the idea of using Apotheosis' version of "Carmina Burana" if I can find a better version of it...
Thank you for the suggestions!

Actually, does anyone have any good recommendations for instrumental music?
Michelle
aka
Samuraiko/Dark Respite -
Both are good suggestions, but I tend to use more orchestral music for my videos like that. I have a few ideas, I just need to find one that's a bit more appropo.
Thanks though!

Very nice! I wish it were possible to get you some action shots from beta to include in this, but it would violate the NDA. Hopefully when Open Beta comes you can get some good stuff.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's my intention. Of course, I have to figure out what music I'm going to use for the full I-11 trailer I do when it hits open beta, but I'll think of something.
Thanks again!

Are you looking for COH vids we've done? I've got two...
One for the Rikti Invasion, one for I-11. Both can be found on my website at http://www.samuraikoproductions.com/Videos.html (along with other non-COH vids). Send me a PM if you need more info!

Yep, Samuraiko Productions is at it again, with a new teaser trailer video for Issue 11. I will say it RIGHT NOW - this does NOT contain footage or information from the closed beta, because quite frankly, I wasn't invited to it. This is ALL done from what is available on the main servers as of right now, plus a little help from the official I-11 wallpaper for the Ouroboros logo. And some creative interpretation.
All that being said, it's still darned cool!
And it is available in high quality (~34MB) on the Samuraiko Productions website, and in not-so-high quality on YouTube.
As usual, please do not directly link to the high quality version - just send folks to my site. Enjoy!

Two files - same move, smaller one is just easier to download. Stupid Joke that I modified to fit the CoH universe. Hope you like:
Smaller file: Big, Orange Head (4702KB)
Larger (better quality): Big, Orange Head (12835KB)
Hope you like.

Damn you for making a video better than mine. Well done, very funny, and an instant death wish if you watch it while eating french fries because french fries are not meant to be inhaled while laughing.

Well, I submitted it to FileFront to have them add it to their library. No idea when it will become live there, though.
Does anyone know how long it takes the devs to actually respond to stuff? I'd sent a PM to Lighthouse a few days ago and got the "read" receipt, but no response...
I hope this is not the "let's call in the lawyers" calm before the storm.

FileFront's just a site for gaming content, and users can upload gaming videos like yours for hosting and video streaming. I've been playing WoW for the past two years and that community uses it a lot, but I was poking around today and I noticed there's like zero CoX content up there, not sure why. Just something that popped into my head, don't mind me.Back to the comments about how awesome your video is!

I don't mind at all, now in the process of getting it uploaded there.

I can make no guarantees when it will be available on YouTube
[/ QUOTE ]
How about... NEVER? YouTub (sp!) would make a mockery of this presentation. Knowing well its awful re-compression, non-WS presentation and MONO... yes MONO-compressed audio... this video, with all the love and care that went into its creation... would be sacrificed upon the alter.
[/ QUOTE ]
True - which is why the original, uber-cool versions of my videos are always available on my Web site. YouTube is for folks who do not have the Internet connection to really appreciate my video in its pure, unadulterated form.
(I can't really mock, though - for the longest time, I WAS one of those people.)
I'm glad you enjoyed it, though, thank you very much!

Amazing video, and a very nice website. I will have to look more into your writing (I am an aspiring writer new to the game, got any advice?). I had to laugh at the special place spammers had.
If you don't mind I would like to make a suggestion about the website. Some links open new windows, I personally would prefer if they all opened in the same window.
[/ QUOTE ]
The site opening separate windows for certain pages was originally to allow people whose lousy browsers (*coughcoughAOLcoughcough*) hated backing up to earlier-viewed pages. However, I will consider going back and cutting down the number of pages that do that.
Advice? Write, write, write. I got good by writing until my brain felt like a lemon at half-time. (And I have a COH story as well, on the FanFiction.net site, called, "Faith, Hope, and a Few Unlikely Superpowers.")
And yes, the spammers deserve what they get. Trust me - I work in Technical Support, I know how to hurt them.
And thank you for enjoying my video!

Most people don't realize that doing titles is harder than it looks, therefore "simpler." I liked the music transition, too.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, okay.
Thanks - that's actually five separate pieces of music edited together for the video. Go me.

[ QUOTE ]
Really well done, big props. And I don't say that about too many videos.
I particularly liked the shot of the Heavy shooting the camera and it going to fuzz, the bomb dropping on the hospital, as well as the "simpler" manipulations of the titles. And they were very good titles indeed.
Also, I apologize for not getting my invasion demos to you -- the PC that had them on decided to break and I completely forgot to send you a PM about that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks! And you're forgiven - I figured SOMETHING must have happened, but as chaotic as my own life has been, I've not been following up on things I should be. Grrrr.
"Simpler"? Not sure I understand that one.
As for the shot going to static and the Rikti bombing the hospital, these were both shots I'd intended to get from the start, but the hospital shot was the VERY LAST FOOTAGE I shot in that game. ARGH! (The Rikti would never invade Skyway when I NEEDED them to, or when they did, I couldn't get there in time to catch that flyover.)
Thank you again, I appreciate the compliments! (Especially knowing they're not handed out that lightly.)

Now if I'm REALLY lucky, Statesman and Positron will notice and I will be on my way to fame and fortune as Cryptic's latest video creator...

Really nice! Surprised to see JetWolf and Ultrace mentioned in the credits, as I've known them for quite some time....
[/ QUOTE ]
Thank you, thank you, and thank you.
And yes, Jetwolf and Ultrace both sent me footage for use in the video, so of course I had to credit them!
The dying montage was fun to do - timing it was a pain, though, but at least I had an excuse to have characters die during the invasions! ("Oh, well, at least I can use the death shot...") And no debt... heh heh heh.
Trust me, dying was the only way to get some of those shots.

Samuraiko (aka Dark Respite, Johanna Sinclair, Embermage, Rhiannon Vendredi, etc, etc, etc) -
Yes, ladies, gentlemen, and beings of indeterminate gender, the infamous video is now DONE! (And though I do say so myself, it is unbearably cool. I have truly surpassed myself.) And it is now live! Currently it is available on the Samuraiko Productions Web site (on the Multimedia>Videos page), and I am in the process of getting it onto YouTube.
I can make no guarantees when it will be available on YouTube (sometimes stuff goes up really fast, other times it takes a dog's age), or how long they'll let it stay there (given their propensity for just taking stuff down). However, like all my other videos on there, this one has the tags "Samuraiko Productions", so a search for that will pull up all my videos.
For those with a fast Internet connection, the version on my site is roughly 75MB, with good quality sound and video. YouTube, of course, is not nearly that hot, but it's also not nearly that BIG.
Also, spoiler warning! Watching this video might clue you in on things that you previously did not know.
If you love it, you are welcome to tell others, but PLEASE, as a courtesy, do not just link straight to the video. Just point them to my Web site.
Cheers!
Michelle
