  1. BTW, gentlemen, as part of my workshop, I will be recognizing the many and varied contributions of the CoX videographers. I'll be distributing a handout/packet with lots of useful info and references, and will be including stuff like links to:

    Scuzzbopper's CoX Demo Codex site
    Leandro's Splasher Program
    Zloth's Demo Player and Editor
    Balshor's Demo Editor
    And more!

I may be the one presenting, but there are so many other people who contribute so much to the videographer community, I want to make sure you guys get your due.

Now I want to go really really bad!!!! Still can't, but I wanna!

Will somebody make a video of her making a video?

    [/ QUOTE ]

John said I should record myself doing the workshop and put it up on YouTube. Problem is, no videocamera.

Can't skip that, that's your best one! (Though the I12 trailer would have been best if, instead of "Oh my god!" you had said "Hmmm, I think I should have turned left at Albuquerque!") <just kidding! just kidding!>

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, the CoVIDEOHELL vids I'm working on extensively quote Bugs and Co... including...

"Ho! Ha! Guard! Turn! Parry! Dodge! Spin! Ha! Thrust!"

    "Yoiks, and away!"

"Kill da wabbit, kill da wabbit, kill da wabbit!"

    And many others.

Although now I'll have to add Daffy screaming, "I'm rich! I'm wealthy! I'm independent! I'm socially secure!" while having a villain rob a bank on a mayhem mission...

What would REALLY be entertaining is having the Rikti start attacking PvP zones. Or the hazard zones they have thus far avoided. (And I wanna see them invade IP - just to see Lusca taking a swipe at a low-flying dropship.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Recorded inside the Bom'Ba raiding ship earlier today:

"Bombing: Engaged. Path: Fixed. Area: Independence Port."

"Commander: You have: My thanks. Fixed paths: Boring."

"Agreement: 100%. Request: Moment: One. Object: Unknown. Position: Port: 20 degrees."

"Scanner: Engage. Database crossreference: Earth, Rikti records."

"Match: Found. Earth records: Culinary. Name: Calamari. Type: Edible, tasty."

"Engage: Tasty treat. Port: 20 degrees. Lasers: Energize: Medium-rare."

"Orders: Acknowledged. Request: Attention. Target: Movement detected."

    *SMACK*
    *SMACK*
    *SWISH*
    *Pprrrrrrrrrtttttttzzzzzzzzz*
    *SPLOSH*

"Action: Evasive: Immediately. Windscreen wipers: Activate. Ship wash: To be performed. Speak: This: With nobody."

    "Agreement: 100%: Captain."

*wonders how much work it would take to create that in a /demorecord file*

    Confused

YOu have to use a program that will convert it to a video file, such as FRAPS.

    Stealth effect

Only way I know to do it is to record it with said person there, convert that to video. Then edit the demorecord to remove that person (your camera will still track as normal), and play it again, and convert that to video. Then layer one on top of the other at partial transparency.

  10. Easy - in Zloth's Demo Player, just turn off the option for text. Voila!

  11. So once I do finish this, do I just upload the .txt file onto my server, send in the link and the first part to hook people in, and that's it?

  12. I can get you a screenshot of the room on the Crey map with all the containment chambers hanging from the ceiling... would that work?

(And this betrays my geek origins, but when I saw the poster SUBVERT, all I could hear was the whispering voices from Alpha Centauri: Alien Crossfire going, "We must dissent...")

OMG! I loved that game! I so heard their voice when I read that!

    [/ QUOTE ]

My husband and a friend of ours (who also plays CoX) play that - and when they play networked and teamed, John plays the Spartans, Chris plays the University, and they WALK all over everyone else. No contest.

    Speed up time?

Surprisingly enough, when I film on Triumph, enough of the PvPers there know me by now that when I say I'm in the zone to film, I get a flood of tells for volunteers.

I just had to ask them to please not fly in front of me.

    Speed up time?

Time does not move in CoX in a demo playback. You can stand there for HOURS and you'll SEE the sun/moon move, but when you play it back, it stands still.

The only way to get movement of the sun/moon is to turn off all the HUD, and use FRAPS (or some other program) to record IN-GAME while it's setting/rising/whatever.

(Trust me on this one - I had to do it myself for a video I'm working on - and standing in one place in Bloody Bay shooting the sun going down screams TARGET!!!!)

  20. Yes, it sometimes feel like you're wading through WAR AND PEACE to get a haiku's worth of demo out of it. Unfortunately, short of coding your own so you can try and streamline it as much as you want, if you're /demoing in-game, brace yourself for a TON of stuff you might not need.

  22. Is there a MAXIMUM size for this? I've not yet had a chance to experiment, but I need a character who is downright HUGE. Like 100 ft tall at a MINIMUM. Maybe even bigger.

Hey Dark, I finished checking out your other videos. Here are my thoughts on them:

Born of the Night: wow, this one actually makes me care about the midnighters story arcs. I just kinda breezed through them on my brute so I could get to Cimerora. Guess I need to go back and redo them now. CURSE YOU SAMURAIKO!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Mwahahahahaha.

    [ QUOTE ]
A Stitch in Time Trailer: Very well done video, Lots of really outstanding shots in it. Only thing I would point out is the last shot where the two versions of your character are facing off agianst one another. It took a moment, and I had to read the "more info" link on the video, to get what that was representing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's another video I'd like to slightly re-shoot, having learned a lot more since then. I hadn't learned at that point how to map in characters, and I think it would 'clarify' the storyline a bit to re-shoot it the way I'm imagining it now.

    [ QUOTE ]
A stitch in Time: first panel of text is a bit fast. If you're not waiting for it, and ready to read it, you miss the last word or so. Very cool transisional scenes as you went down the time line, and then went back up it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That was one where I wanted people to go back and watch it more than once to go, "Wait a sec, was that...?" It's one I still very much enjoy, though, because of how many people LOVED the ending ("Get ready to REMAKE history").

I'm glad you enjoyed my work, though! I did answer your PM, btw - we'll see what we can come up with.

And as for what you could do to help me convince NCSoft... I've no earthly idea. I've asked, I've applied, I've offered to bribe with my brownies, and no luck yet. If you've got a better idea, I'm all for hearing it!

Okay Dark, got good news and bad news.

The Good news: I've gone through and watched several of your videos. All very impressive. I'll post my thoughts on them in a moment.

The Bad News: For some reason I can't view some of your videos. Probably some sort of bad width switch on my side or my verizon modem getting ready to melt down or something. I'll try to check 'em out later.

    [/ QUOTE ]

YouTube routinely says it can't find some of my videos. No idea why.

    [ QUOTE ]
    Now my thoughts:

Time to Start: loved the group dancing scenes.
Foot note: Why were there civies up on top of Paragon Hall?
The dancing school bell wanna be Carnival was just kinda weird

    [/ QUOTE ]

There were civvies on top of City Hall because I wanted them there.

    [ QUOTE ]
Etiquette: Pluses: Really well done, great shots (both as a sniper and as Videopgrapher)
Minuses: It's kinda hard to explain, but it just didn't seem to move anywhere music wise. Personally, I say take this one as a plus, normally I'm never at a loss of descriptions

    [/ QUOTE ]

Of all my videos, that one I look at as 'technically' great, storywise not so much, because of the music restrictions. If I could have used the music I *wanted* to use, it would have been very different.

    [ QUOTE ]
Invasion: Okay, I gotta give you so many freaking mad props for this one! I'm actually doing a fan comic that deal with an alternate verson of the invasion, and I had kinda lost some of my enthusiasm for doing it. This video just revamped my enthusiasim for it!!!!!!!! Very dark, dery cinema esqu. Ranking on You tube asside, This one is going in my favs list.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My very first CoX video, and while the footage could certainly be re-shot, it remains one my favorites to this day.

    [ QUOTE ]
Incarnate: WOW! okay that one really just blew me away. If they do ever make a movie/tv series of City of Heroes, and they don't talk to you, I'm sorry I would have to write off the entire production!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hence why I have been repeatedly lobbying for a job at NCSoft.

    [ QUOTE ]
Midnights secrets: This one was kinda slow to get started, but it kept a good pace and was easy to follow. Some really fantastic shots in this video. When it really got moving it wasn't BAM IN Your face kinda moving, it eased into it, which was good.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The only real in-your-face shot I wanted, as it were, was the scene where the camera zooms around to reveal Cimerora. Everything else, I just wanted to convey scope, rather than speed.

    [ QUOTE ]
Value of PWNage: Like you said: Priceless!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I still get hate mail for that one.

    [ QUOTE ]
Make Love and war: Damn and I missed it! Really cool vid! Lots of fun to watch.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Great fun to make!

    [ QUOTE ]
Countdown to the Future: Really cool way to remember the history of CoH.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That was my entry for the PERC contest. And I won second place with it!

    [ QUOTE ]
I'll admit, this is gonna be a little biased, but what the heck. So far I like Invasion the best. Until I get to view your other videos I'm gonna put that one at the top 3 list (Not nessicarially 3rd, but somewhere between 1st and 3rd)

    [/ QUOTE ]

I really should re-shoot Invasion, keep the same music and general stuff, but now that I have a better computer, get some better footage, and I've learned so much more since I made that.

Looking forward to your comments on some of the others...
