    Illu/storm

Just started an Illu/Storm... and as usual when i start a new toon, i've tried to foresee what powers i would get, and its slots... and came across the problem that I like so many powers in both builds that i just run out of power slots. Any build or hint would be appreciated, mainly on the storm set, which i'm not familiar to yet

FF gets very useful repel and knockback powers that can in some situation be better than controlling ones.

    [/ QUOTE ]

One thing to remember, most of those repel and KB powers (especially Force Bubble) will make the least defender member of the team the biggest target. That would be you by the way

[/ QUOTE ]That's what PFF is for

    PFF rulezzzzz
  3. KK add DB too, if we need Illu/rad, Illu/rad we r gonna get
  4. Errm, now i'm puzzled.. how can a troller hold a regen thru integration? (I'm a noob in PvP)
  5. Dark_Blasphemy_EU

    */Empath

Hasten is really handy not only to boost ur heals and holds, but also ur PA, that will be ur tanks. Now that it's not perma I really miss it lots when it wears off (although i'm lucky i have AM, which minimizes the loss a bit).
Given that u already got group invis, i take u dont take superior invis. I like sup invis better for pve (snipers or ninja cant see u, and its a toggle, which enables u to ghost safely, unlike with group invis, that can wear off suddenly when u r in a mob), but group invis for pvp (so that ur pet is not spotted).
About stamina... u need it IMHO
  6. Dark_Blasphemy_EU

    */Empath

I use both a lot too, so I actually wouldn't know which one i would get rid of... but not having a travel power seems like a pain alright though.. i'd even go for both of them before group invis (unless u plan to PvP), or some empath powers like absorb pain (and if I really had to choose, before regen aura or even adrenaline boost, although i love those powers). Hasten is included in ur build? because IMO its a must for every Illu troller

    */Empath

Awww but deceive is so much fun! and very useful for voids/quantum/malta... and for AVs, to mop up minions around himself ^_^, pretty useful if ur team is not very crowded or u dont have a tank to take the alpha (u really dont come across many things as fun as seeing Infernal... destroy the portal on his own, or Babbage being a robot-icide ). But as someone said before, both sets have too many good powers, and that means that u'll have to miss some of them... So good luck and enjoy ur new troller!

The single hold is just the same in every troller set but with different secondary effects. You shouldn't be able to hold a boss in one try...'cept if it crits which doesn't happen very often. Why should accuracy have anything to do with this?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well I dont have any problem holding bosses +3 or +4 with my other trollers (actually that's what kept me alive often, tbh), and with my ice/emp I really can't hold -5s.
I thought the critics was just for scrappers, but if u say holds do crit, then I've learnt something new.
... And I'm not sure I understand the last sentence about accuracy not having anything to do with success in holding a boss at first try... I'm quite possitive that the higher ur acc is, the more chances to effectively hold

I'd never pick ice unless as a concept build... Its holds are horrible, and pet sux incredibly

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Shame on you Dark!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hehe, I agree about ice pitch. It's a very useful power... as earthquake is on earth, bonfire on fire.... Slow secondary is nice but I think it doesnt cope with such a crappy hold. Main single hold, with 3 acc SOs, wont hold a boss -5 at first try, unless the boss is previously debuffed with another ice power (severl ice trollers tried to, and none could even with yellow inps), and that's something that i had never come across before with any other troller
  10. Hehe had forgotten the ED-perma-moaning blaster?... Ur only 50... altoholic!
  11. [ QUOTE ]
/kin is the best secondary for dmgoutput + endurance (after lvl 35 when you get transferance)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well imo best for endurance is empath, but dont really recommend it. If u plan to pvp a lot, go for storm. If it's intended to pve, depending on the primary (Fire looks cool with kins or ff, whereas Illu suits nicely with storm and rad, for instance).

The first fire combo I tried was the classic/kins, but I found that since imps, although the bigger DDealers and prolly the most fun pets in the game, in teams were leroys, and all the aggro came to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

All aggro generated by your imps will stay on your imps. It takes alittle micromanagement when to fire off tranfusion but solo or in small teams it's still fairly easy to keep the little madmen alive . Granted, in bigger teams they die quite abit more but in that case the aggro usually spreads out nicely.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, if you tell me you can handle your imps in teams of 8 I'd like to see that :P
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Id say rad is actually harder to play than kinetics... or at least harder for the TEAM to play as you constantly have t tell them not to kill the anchor, and to play well you have to cluster enemies around the anchor...

    [/ QUOTE ]

IMO rad is much easier to play than kins. I never bothered warning people which the anchor was, and yet it kept working like a breze to me. Just anchoring a min beside the boss in a mob will do, since the whole team charges boss first. Besides, using rad u focus on the enemy, which is much more comfortable and more fun than having to keep the team list and team active powers on all the time to see if they all are constantly buffed (or get annoyed with the "sb please" or the classic "if i need healing the last thing i want to do is go near the mobs, dont u have a decent heal?" (swear I had more than 2 saying that).
I think rad best combo is illu, because u can send decoys first to keep the aggro and then debuff safely (rad debuffs work great, but are sooo aggro [censored]), using another combo you'll probably need a tank to rush in the mob and then debuff, or alpha attacks would faceland u more times than desire. It makes soloing on invincible really easy since early levels (I changed my rep to invinc at lv8, when I got sup invis and havent changed it since (ghosting for glowies; ghosting untill u get to the guy u need arrested to complete the mission and then deceiving him so that he kills the minions around him, and then hold+sw him, ghosting and killing the 2 minions around hossies not to aggro the enemies around.... that's all easy at that level already). In teams it also works great. Since debuffs are AoE, u can have a big mob debuffed, once u get 2-3 different debuffs it works like wonders, and accelerate metabolism buff will have your team happy too. IMO the best set for AV killing (buffs->decoys->debuffs->holds and sw is a chain that always work ^_^)
The first fire combo I tried was the classic/kins, but I found that since imps, although the bigger DDealers and prolly the most fun pets in the game, in teams were leroys, and all the aggro came to me. FF compensates that, PFF is a life saviour (and at low levels, crossing hollows is a walk in the park). It has good defense buffs, for you and your team mates, and mez defense too, which is always really nice. U can laugh at and slap up an av (u wont hurt it, but fun still =P) as he can“t hit you while in pff.

Both sets worked great to me in PVE and PVP, and I just can recommend them =)
  14. And i'm asking this from the distance, since I never really played a scrapper (my highest is somewhere around mid 20s), but, and I'd like all those people who say that ma/regen is the best scrapper build, what makes ma a better combo with regen?
For what I know, BS deals quite more dmg, at the cost of more endurance and slower recharge. But with stamina and quick recovery can't you just afford hasten? or even one slots of rech red? Besides bs pool has parry, which would fit nicely with tough. Am I missing something then?
  15. Tank? and when there's no tank?? ... well then..

    1. Put PFF on (this step must not be skipped )
    2. Go herd 2-3 groups
    3. When u got their attention, turn a corner
    4. Turn off PFF
    5. use bonfire on the corner
    6. Summon imps
    7. Turn on PFF again
    8. Go for a ciggy
    9. Go back to ur seat, foes will be dead and imps beside u waiting for some bananas as a reward
  16. Bonfire is an excellent AoE knockbacker, can preveng u from being attacked and its specially usefull in corners and narrow corridors. Since u got FF as a secondarie it will be mainly teamed-oriented, but also handy when soloing if u want foes dead quicklier :P (more info on the guide posted below (http://uk.boards.cityofheroes.com/sh...fpart=1#404831)
  17. Hey thanx a lot for the info. Actually i am still soooooo confused :P. When i had made up my mind on bs/inv, now u say bs/regen is better... and what about ma? :-s
  18. Still tons of fun! Happy happy joy joy FTW!
  19. Just chill, play and enjoy ur game experience . If people goes rude, just "arena" them, or get ur 50, sk them to fakes hunting and unsk them when there... or if u r with healer just tp them into a good mob.... or.. well i guess u got the picture
  20. Well the main reason why i took the psi epics is because Mind over body Dmg protection is 50% bigger than Fire Shield (following CoH planner 1.5C) and whereas Fire Shield protects against Smash, Lethal, Fire and slightly against Ice Damage, Mind Over Body protects against Lethal, Smashing and Psi Dmg, which is much cooler since psi foes are more common (and hated) at high levels (it's always a fun seeing a whole team alphaed by Babbage assasine cone attack -stone tank with minerals on included- and u standing as the only survivor not even orange, or ask people what they think about Mother Mayhem, an av that would need at least 7-8 blows to faceland u, and just 3-4 to do that to the tank). Besides, Mind Blast dmg is just the same as Fire Blast, but the number of foes with psi resistances is inferior to the ones with Fire resistances. Just to finish, I gotta say that i love the Psionic Tornado, which is AoE, power recharge decreaser on foes, and such a high damage it does, (that's even better with containment, have u tried the Fire Cages-Psionic Tornado combo? I use it like a Pseudo nova )
  21. I'm feeling like starting a new scrapper, but don't wanna feel like that time i blindly started a tanker (yeah my first character here was an (OMG!) ice tanker -sic, noob me-, so i wouldnt like to start a toon and delete it when it's already 42 -sic stubborn me-...
Globally and from a nobel point of view, i have liked mostly regen and invuln scrappers, and primaries broad sword and martial arts.. any experienced on any of those builds can help? Appreciated
  22. Suppose u can focus ur troller like that, but tbh I just use Hot Feet with Personal Force Field, so i can't attack at all! Thats why I don't need End Redx, because just using Hot Feet and Pff, my endurance recharge rate is by far enough too keep my blue bar full all the time. The reason why I don't slot Dmg is because it is not me doing the Dmg, but the imps. I mean I just use them in a panic situation , as a combo: PFF makes me invulnerable and hot feet keeps the aggro on me, so that foes don't attack teammates or even imps. Actually that combo enables me to "tank", if we understand tanking as keeping the aggro on yourself while others do the killing. An easy way to kill a non AoE AV -aka Nemesis, as I said before- is using PFF so that he can't touch you, and Hot Feet, so that his attention is on you all the time. You can't attack yourself, but
AV can't injure you either while you are in your bubble. That's why, with the aggro Hot Feet provides, AV will miss u on and on while imps kill him slowly, yet safely
  23. I see u drop acc and hold dur to get rech red. Well having auto Hasten I don't seem to need more rech red, and I never run out of attacks, so I put my money on safety that 3 acc provides, as long as 3 hold dur (can hold up to +7s perma on a 1 vs 1, and let imps kill them slowly, but it's not worth the time really). About Hot Feet I never used it to do dmg, imo it isn't worth slotting the little dmg it does. I do use it to keep the foes aggro on me, playing the tanker part when team mates are in danger, since my pff prevents me from being hit... and I also use it to keep the aggro on me (again with pff on, which keeps me safe from all harm) while imps do all the killing unharmed (I did solo Nemesis AV after ED using that tactic, shame it doesnt work on AoE AVs though, since they kill imps while trying fruitlessly to attack me .
  24. Hey guys, this is my build for a Controller Fire/Force Field, which I found was lots of fun. Don't mean to say this is the best build for this AT, but in any case I found it great to solo and for teams, mainly after lv.32
