In Safe mode CoH crashes at start-up.
-
I will try safe mode but upon further investigation I see that my CPU is being run at nearly 100% and CoH is now using 90% of CPU cycles. W/o CoH running my CPU runs between 0-5% at idle.
I am also only using 58% of the memory at idle while in Oro doing nothing and the CPU is capped. -
According to the website information found under System Requirements I should still be able to play the game as I am above the minimum requirements and near the recommended:
Minimum PC System Requirements:
* OS: Microsoft® Windows® XP/Vista/7
* Processor: Intel® Pentium® III 1 GHz or AMD Athlon 1 GHz MHz
* RAM: 512 MB RAM or more
* Video: NVIDIA® GeForce 2 Series
Recommended PC System Requirements:
* OS: Microsoft® Windows® XP/Vista/7
* Processor: Intel® or AMD Dual Core processor
* RAM: 2 GB RAM or more
* Video: NVIDIA® GeForce FX 5600 Series (or higher)
I would like the game to work again please. -
Updated nVidia drivers yielded no change in the frequency of the Lost Connection To Mapserver error message.
Game still unplayable.
Has my rig just fallen below the minimum standard to play CoH?
Processor AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 2.01 GHz
2 GB Memory Installed
nVidia GeForce 6800XT -
A previously stable and playable system, not fast however, has been rendered unplayable by the i17 update.
"Lost Connection to Map Server" flashes up every 10-15 seconds and stays on for a similar amount of time. Movement across zones is fine for 10-15 seconds then I stop cold with the LCMS pops up. It does this moving or not moving, chatting or not chatting, in WWs or AE, or just in a zone. Pretty much all the time.
If a fix is not found for this I will be cancelling my game subscription as I don't have the money for a new rig.
Really?!? An update killed CoH for me? -
Hey,
When figuring out my final Def values, and the values for my bots, what should I be doing? I have the feeling that the final Def value is NOT the final in game value after the Protector bot shields you. Is this correct? How much will the bot be adding? How can I figure out my bots final def values w/o making the build and then seeing in game?
I am finding Bots/Traps to be some pretty complicated builds with all the options that are out there that seem to work. What do you guys think of this build for single target? (E.g. AV, GM etc...)

Yes, that would seem to keep the chance of some uber combination cropping up they were not aware of to a minimum.
-
Bill! Where did that quote from your sig come from!?! LOL!
-
Ah so when a Vill goes to Hero land and does a respec we are guessing that the Vill will have a set of epic powers to choose from that are different than what heroes can choose from? Brutes might get a mix from Epic sets avail to Tanks and/or Scrappers etc...
So some new possibilities but I wonder how much testing has been done. That is a lot of new combinations to test. -
Quote:
[Castle] A character who switches sides completely will retain their current Ancillary / Patron Powers until they respec. At which point, they will be forced to select from their "current" alignment. Heroes and Vigilantes count toward "Heroes". Villains and Rogue count toward "Villains".
I think is this going to spawn a whole new age of hero/villian designing. Let the games begin!
Is there a way to do this now in Mids?
Does this change open up a whole new range of possibilities or will the change be negligible? -
I thought we would have a few more opinions :-D Anyone?
-
OK with Going Rogue coming soon and Incarnate levels coming with it which of my shelved 50s do you think is most worth bringing back to life? What do you think your pick would be best used as or capable of? (i.e. Team toon, Solo AVs, Solo GMs, Farm Toon)
Dual Sword / Will Scrapper
Rad / Rad Defender
Fire / Ice Tank
Dark Melee / Invlun Scrapper
Ice / Storm Controller -
Good choice on the Rad/Sonic.
There are current rad/sonic builds which can solo GMs for more big game hunter fun. If they can solo GMs after the BotZ nerf remains to be seen but I think they will be able to. -
Cool - now I just need to see how my changes (Due to BotZ nerf) to reflect I am losing 1.5% ranged/AOE on my current build affect my recharge and decide between GFS-In-Cr or FS-In-Cr
-
So FS/Cr/In with BU and SC thrown in when up would be the attack chain of choice?
Oh and yes I did notice that recharge proc was on and turned it off in my mids.
AND! Now that I found out they are nerfing BotZ this build is a bit done. Back to the drawing board but I want the right attacks.
FS/Cr/In?
As far as end consumption goes, does Mids consider the Performance Shifter Proc in the Recovery value it shows? -
Was the attach chain question too complicated? I am surprised the number gurus didn't weigh in on this one. Or has it been done to death and my searches just missed the threads?
DPE = Damage Per Endurance? If that is the case then I don't really need to worry about DPE on this toon since as she is currently slotted she does not have end problems at all. -
But if I was on only a single target the AOE of FSC would apply to the only target in range? (I.e. An AV) And in an AOE does the proc have a 20% chance to affect each target in range?
-
Hey all,
Your thoughts on the following would be appreciated before I spend some big chunks of hard earned Inf.
I have been refining my Fire/Shield Scrapper. I am disappointed in her damage output and plan on respec'ing her to the attack chain of:
Fire Sword (FS) - Cremate (Cr) - Incinerate (In)
I am curious as to the effects of adding in Fire Sword Circle (FSC) and Laser Beam Eyes (LBE) if I were to put in the -Res procs in each. Also, does it make sense to include Shield Charge (SC) when its up. I get the sense it would because I see SC do damage >1000 pts to lower level mobs and 400-500 to harder targets if I recall correctly.
So how would an attack chain of:
FSC-LBE-SC-(FS-In-Cr)x3
VS
(FS-Cr-In)x4-SC
look? My math is bad but it looks like to me that if you have a damage bonus of 20%(given that the target has damage res to mitigate) running 40% of the time of the next 10 seconds then your damage bonus would be about 115 pts, which when added to the FSC-LBE damage would just about equal one cycle of FS-In-Cr dps. (Actually the damage bonus would be bit less because the -20% would be running 8-10 seconds depending on which proc hit.) So, if I am doing this right, using the -res procs in 1vs1 single target damage situations the procs will actually lower your dps slightly. BUT! In team situations the damaged added would be much greater and more than off-set the loss to the scrapper. Even in a 2v1 situation the addition of the procs pays off.
Please tell me I am correct in my understanding that Scorch has lower DPS and does not belong in an optimized attack chain.
I am posting my build below - please critique. The point of the build is having her at the def soft cap or close and single target damage, but she gets used to farm a little.
If I don't end up respec'ing the -res proc into FSC I would use the Alt slotting for FSC and Shield Charge. If I do that, then the question becomes, do I drop the Focused Accuracy and it's -res proc and the 1.5% damage bonus and swap into Grant Cover for the -Def Resistance and move a slot over to Incinerate and add a damage proc there?
Based on my desire to be near the soft cap how is my slotting? Have I given up too much def on ranged/AOE to get more damage? I will include my current build for comparison when I manage to locate it.

Like the guy who was buying a LotG which were going for 75 Million at the time for 750 Million? Ouch...
-
O.O
Well all I am saying here is that since a individual server is a subset of all the servers it can be a safe assumption (based on observations of chat lists, search results etc) that a trend that is effecting all the servers is likely affecting an individual server. (In this case Infinity.) -
Because the SG is worth, at current influence to prestige exchange rates over 28 Billion. I currently have some 27 million in prestige waiting to be used and I can't calculate how much time it would take to rebuild the base anything like it is now... Not to mention the fact that the SG is not a dead SG. We still have some, not many, active members and to sell it out from under them?!?!?
So while I could do this, I won't. -

In this case it is a safe assumption. Further, actual income generated could drop a lot and there still could be a surge in prices as players use accumulated wealth to make purchases. Not to mention you can buy 1 billion for 15 bucks. You can bet those guys are not going to leave the game until people stop buying Inf from them.
Given the current state of CoH I think the only thing that would drive prices down would a change in the drop rates. There is just way too much money sloshing around the system. -
Iron you suck at reading, apologies and insults.
The point in the market observation is this: A rapid increase in prices indicates a reduction in total play time. A reduction in the amount total time played (all servers) leads to a reducion in the amount of supply, a reduction in the amount of supply would (my assumption w/o data other than indidvidual observations) lead to an increase in prices. Price increases would be driven by well off players willing to spend whatever needed to obtain particular IOs. If total hours played over all servers is dropping then it is a reasonable leap to assume that the same is happening at the local level.
Of course I really shouldn't have to spell this all out should I? -
My line noting that market changes are not related to specific servers was apparently a bit obtuse for some readers... "...the server population (and general population in the case of the market changes)..."
This doesn't instill confidence that some people can actually read, as for their observations? Meh...
