I'm legitimately surprised they never put these in to begin with. Seems like a no-brainer to me.

I heard that if you say the word "farm" in-game NCSoft sends hired goons to your house to take you out.
True story. -
Yeah, the devs are clearly trying to push VIP players onto Exalted. Discounted transfers, special events on Exalted at level ranges that you'll need to transfer a character to participate in.
Before you know it, jerk hackers will be dupin rares. -
Pinnacle is cliquey? With the exception of a very small handful of people (and I'm reasonably sure you're not one of them), anyone can join and chat in its biggest channel (it's only silence-upon-join because of those few people, as long as you're not one of them an op will unsilence you). And no, it doesn't have anything to do with RMT spammers. Just a couple rotten eggs who had to spoil things for everyone else.
Anyway, people don't use LFG because 1) it's new and 2) it's useless.
EDIT: Wait, there's an LFG channel??? Maybe nobody uses it because nobody knows it exists. I thought it was just the tab thing that you use for trials. -
Throwing my hat in with the folks who don't like Exalted getting all the special events. I can't afford (nor do I want) to transfer my characters off Pinnacle, please don't kill the non-VIP servers.

Some of the more common criminals actually do believe that Batman is just one of many Batmen, but this is probably just a coping mechanism because if they accepted the fact that it's just one man who does all this they'd have a mental breakdown.

Hey look, a locked thread.
Word is banned because children abuse it. It's a shame but what are you gonna do. -
Quote:They're just flavor text. They don't occur anywhere on the map.Related question, about the "mirror self" arcs:
Are the "Mirror's Objective" objectives actual mission goals that you can complete, if you somehow trick or outrun the system (in the same way that people sneak into cutscenes), or are they just timers that list flavor text instead of a countdown? -
I only do that for bad ideas. This is an excellent idea that should be mentioned not merely once per month, but once per post. Literally every single post on the forum needs to make this suggestion until the devs implement it.

Quote:No, but that is an extremely easy way to dismiss another person's argument. Clearly I must not want any change since I think your idea for change is bad.yeah, I'm aware that there is a portion of the userbase that is extremely hostile to any sort of change.
Even if you go with the premise that this change will happen I don't know that this will help much. The griefing is really the big thing, if you can pose as another person while that person isn't logged on (and how difficult is it to work out another person's play schedule?), you've completely broken it. The only way to offset griefing at all is to make attaching globals mandatory, and most players don't want they (probably because they hate change
).
Then why didn't you say this in the first place????Quote:I don't think it likely for anything to change in the near future, but thought this was an interesting idea if one starts from the premise that some sort of change will probably happen eventually. -
Oh good, this thread again.
...Was going to be my initial reaction, but you seem to be new, so instead I'll say that this suggestion comes up often, and is often shot down for the following reason:
No. I want to be unique. I don't care if my global is hidden, I don't care if I never run into another character with the same name, I want my characters to have unique names on their server. If there were some other dude going around calling himself Wolverine, you'd better believe Logan would head on over and give the dude a well-deserved beatin' (or worse). Never mind the potential for griefing (copy the costume of someone you don't like, use the same name, log on when they're not on, act like an unrepentant jerk, ???, profit!).
There are plenty of good names available. Yes, the "obvious" ones are pretty much all taken, but it doesn't require being that creative to name a character. There was just a thread about this, although apparently it was on one of the other subforums as I don't see it here (although I am being lazy and not checking thoroughly; sue me, I'm getting ready to go to bed), and I saw somebody make a number of suggestions for ways to name characters. Among them: referencing song titles/lyrics, famous quotes, puns based on the aforementioned, and that's just for starters.
Sadly I expect the devs may eventually end up having to do this post-Freedom. Before that, they at least would have had the option of wiping out trial accounts, if nothing else, but with a F2P model (okay, hybrid model), you can't wipe out anything ever. Makes me think people will start making free accounts solely for name-camping. -
I might roll something on Exalted but I can't afford to transfer all of my Pinn toons in one go, nor am I likely to use my monthly transfer token to do so piecemeal.
Given that free players won't have any access to global channels and PinnBadges/Coz is where most teaming on the server happens, I'd like to think that most people won't find it necessary to leave. -
I really hope this isn't leading to "team up with your enemy to fight the greater enemy". We've already had that garbage once; it's boring and does a disservice to all characters involved.
Yeah, I'm real sure Cole's helping us out of the goodness of his heart.
The only difference between what's actually happening and what Cole wanted to happen is tactics -- Duray's plan was stupid, but basically the same as what Cole had in mind anyway. He still wants to conquer us, and will exploit any opportunity to do it. And hey look, here's an opportunity!

Quote:I haven't seen any spam in this game in years. Maybe the spammers have just all moved to Freedom server, but as far as I'm concerned it works perfectly.Ummm... No.
While no system is perfect, the amount of RMT spam in CoH has been cut back dramatically over the past few years.
I don't want anything done to undo what has been put in place, especially not simply to please players who haven't spent a dime to support the game. -
New sets. But I had forgotten that post.
-
A little of both, I believe the article was guessing but I wouldn't be surprised at all if the rights to the Skrulls were tied in with the FF (I'm sure FF3 would have featured them, or at least Super-Skrull, if the second movie had done better).

You joke, but Invulnerability's mez protection toggle originally DID immobilize you. That's actually what I assumed you were referring to.
-
Are the licenses seriously monthly? I was under the impression that you bought it once and that was it.
Anyway, the game is balanced around SOs, so I wouldn't agree that there should necessarily be certain powersets that should be avoided (at least, not because of a lack of IOs). I guess you could mention sets like Dark Armor and Fiery Aura and point out that their inherent lack of KB protection would likely require Acrobatics from the Leaping pool (because what sort of moron melee fighter hovers around?).
There are certainly some powers that perform best on 6 SOs, but is that any different from many IO builds that require multiple 6-slotted to get the elusive 5th set bonus? Some powers have higher-than-normal accuracy and might not need any slotting there, some have low end costs that don't need any endurance reduction. People got by before IOs, and new players will do the same.
Can't find anything about PvP but if they were making a new PvP zone for free players (in I21 anyway) we would know about it by now. I would assume nothing's changing because why would the devs address a broken system, that would be silly. I could see it going either way: free players are blocked off from the zones, or they're not.
Two final notes: In doing a search for another thread I got logged out of the forums so thanks a bunch for that, forum. Also, I'm sure my long-winded and mostly useless post has been scooped by the time I post this.
EDIT: Correct on one count. -
Quote:Yes, Accolades will be listed separately, below the set bonuses I think. Accolade powers are listed by name ("Born in Battle", "Earned the Statesman's Star", etc.) rather than their effect. If you're talking about the things in their powers that say something like: Luck of the Gambler Global Recharge Bonusx5, Tiny Increased Health bonusx2, etc. those are set bonuses from using IOs.
To answer your other question, it really depends on what you're trying to do. In general though, IOs can do a better job of increasing any character's survivability if you shoot for defense set bonuses, and other set bonuses can make your character more powerful (ex. recharge set bonuses on a Dominator to get perma-Domination). Non-melee archetypes can get to the defense softcap (45%) for either two damage types or a single position (melee, ranged, AoE) with varying degrees of ease, although sometimes this means making sacrifices and having your powers not fully enhanced to the ED cap. It's up to you to decide whether or not the trade-off is truly worth it, but I think most would agree that the set bonuses you can get more than make up for the 1-10% enhancement you might lose to some of your powers.
If you don't already have it, Mids' Hero Designer is an excellent tool for planning out builds or even just taking a look to see at just what's available for a given archetype/powerset combination. -
Quote:I believe they can't use the Skrulls proper since they're tied up in the rights to the Fantastic Four, but apparently Ultimate Skrulls are called something else? Also, who knows if they have their facts straight about the "alien soldiers?" Could mean Asgardians by the movieverse's definition. Unless they're just going to mash all of Millar's Ultimates run into this movie by having Loki work with Skrulls or something.
