I still don't see why the devs can't just cook up a batch of code on their stoves at home. Seems pretty simple to me.

Quote:That's an automated message. I'm not even sure there's any GMs left to respond to those manually anymore.sigh, depressing the GM answered me and didn't even answer the topic of character transferring, instead they said;
quite depressing, I really was trying to forget it was closing in 3 months.. grrr all the reason to fight stronger to try and keep it, keep making noise people let them hear us roar! the moment we stop making a fuss about it is the moment they think we don't want COH.. -
Dammit, you made me think Dee was back.

Quote:Somehow you dislike the idea of promoting a game you love (a dead one, at that), but I'm not entirely sure why.I'd buy one if it didn't have the advertising on the back. I dig the basic star/Arachnos logo on the front, but I just don't like shirts with stuff on the back. And I'm def not a fan of walking around with a blatant product name on me, either.
What if you had a Superman emblem shirt, with the "SUPERMAN" comic book title on the back? Would that also be advertising? -
As I noted earlier in this thread, this belief is short-sighted. Paying money for these shirts only shows NCSoft that there are still people who love this game. They've made it clear that they're done with it no matter what, but continuing to show your support may at least push them toward allowing it to live on elsewhere.

Yes, I should note that I ordered mediums. Also, their sizing chart is completely wrong, even when you convert from metric to Imperial.

1) The original launcher, probably, but it wouldn't work anymore. Even if you bypassed the launcher, it wouldn't let you log in because your version of the game wouldn't match the current version.
2) Not without servers, no. -
Quote:He was 12.5, between the Doctor's 12th and "final" incarnations. Of course, now you have the Doctor claiming that there's no limit on regenerations in The Sarah Jane Adventures, and the Time Lords were the ones who put that restriction in place originally and they're long gone. So really who knows what the hell's gonna happen.Indeed it was the Trial of a Time Lord. That incarnation of the Doctor was 10.5 or 11.5 I think - it was the excised evil portion of one of the future incarnations of the Doctor and was called the Valeyard. I may have referenced it earlier in the thread. The Master was hiding away in the Matrix and showed up to help (and double-cross, of course) the Doctor.

Fair enough, but I'm still positive there was at least some technical reason why it couldn't be done (and I'm sure someone could still find a way to exploit the system).

Quote:Just want to update this thread. I put in an order for both shirts about 2 weeks ago, and they just arrived today, no back-order issues (at least, none that I was made aware of).I have the blue, but it's worn out a bit. Jumped in and tried to order a blue and a red. They do not have them in stock, but you get a backorder for them. I do not think they will come through and send any, but if they do they will be my honorary t-shirts.
And I hope the message comes clear to NCSoft that I am willing to spend money not only on the game but on CoH merchandise too.
Amusingly, they still have the Cryptic logo on them, which tells you how old they are. They look nice, although I have my doubts about how long the detailing will last. -
I started a #pinnbadges IRC channel (the hashtag is for an IRC channel, NOT Twitter nonsense) on Foonetic, all Pinnacle-ites welcome (and what the hell, non-Pinnacle-ites too).

Okay, now imagine the ability to pay someone on any server to roll and PL a character for you, then transfer it to your account. (Copying would be much worse as you could duplicate 50s from your main account to a secondary account which is just begging for exploitation.) Not to mention the possibility or even likelihood that it might be flat out impossible to even move that kind of information between accounts.
I'm certain this has been addressed by a redname in the past but I don't have the time to research it at the moment. -
Someone should make this Loregasm thread sticky.
*ducks out* -
The wiki page, sadly, lacks newer tracks used during the trials and new story arcs.

Honestly, I trust a robot car more than actual drivers based just on what I see on the road every day.
-
City of Heroes may be saved, but it will almost certainly not remain within the walls of NCSoft. But even if it did, this will never happen for a bunch of pretty obvious reasons (enabling RMT/PL services, for starters).

It was awfully nice of them to take the time to redirect an e-mail address directly to the trash bin.

Quote:Yes, the write-in campaign only served to briefly postpone the show's demise by a single (inferior) season. Only in reruns did the show become popular enough to warrant a movie (and so on).And the original Star Trek got multiple movies, several spin off series, some of which also had movies, all from a simple snail mail movement.
As long as we continue to make noise, and I mean continue, even if the game's plug is pulled, someone may eventually here our united voices and do something about relaunching the game.
(Also note that in Star Trek's case it's popularity INCREASED after the original show's death.)
It's also worth mentioning the flipside, that a similar letter writing campaign failed to save Enterprise at all. -

Maybe that's the tweet people were referring to. *shrug*

Quote:It was Joel McHale, but he wasn't talking about dubstep.I'm rather fond of whoever it was that described dubstep as "two fax machines ****ing."
Kids today and their music, muttergrumble. -
Quote:I saw it said that the addresses were also posted via Twitter. Was that you, and if so have you removed those tweets as well? (And if you have -- will removing them make any difference?)Hey everyone, please note the update in the top post. I have voluntarily removed the e-mail addresses. I think this project has been successful in its goal, and at this point, I don't think any further e-mails will get read. Also, I want to minimize the possibility of trolls getting the addresses at some future point and using the addresses to grind an ax.

Quote:Much worse. As much as I've been bouncing back and forth between hope and crushing despair, thank you for the reminder. Just remember, the silence could always be worse.

I have all you guys topped. City of Heroes was my first MMO. The person who got me into the game basically held my hand for my first play session as I worked with the costume creator and started to learn about enhancements and all that. After maybe an hour or so I needed to go to the bathroom or was gonna grab a sandwich or who the hell knows, so I asked him "So hey, how do I pause?" "You don't", he said.
