  1. You've never heard of the Human Torch? Really?

You would have gained in the process a hold, two chances for sleeps, and a chance to knockback. Those three powers have a lot of mitigation and activate very quickly to apply that mitigation.

You don't need to change powers, you need to learn to better utilize the melee. Elec has some very fast, high damage melee attacks that are worth learning to use.
I don't even use Thunderstrike that much, I only kept it for the knockback. I took Lightning Clap for the mitigation and...I don't know, the second one must have made room for something else in my build, since I don't see what actually replaced it.

By the way, I played up into the mid-30s (and that's before they smoothed the level curve) with the melee attacks, so I'm not unfamiliar with them. I just don't like to be in melee with such a squishy character. I respecced because my character sucked on toast. He doesn't suck on toast anymore.
  3. I'll second this thread. I got my Warshade up to 22 with the expectation that I might start to suck slightly less with Stygian Circle, but I think I actually started to suck more by that point. Put him on the shelf and haven't played him since. Such a shame...
  4. Personally I respecced out of 2/3 of my melee attacks on my Elec/Elec (I kept Thunderstrike) and haven't looked back. Either I used them and they got me into trouble, or I didn't use them and had an incomplete attack chain. Elec/Elec is the only Blaster I've had any significant play time with (got a Psy/Mental up to 10), but it works fine for me.

    The End is near.

I don't know why everyone is so quick to disbelieve this, a Stone Brute was made to jump over on Pinnacle a while back. It takes a lot of Kins to overcome the -fly and -jump, but it can be done easily enough.
  6. I have a bind file set up to do precisely this. Well, not exactly this, but for combining inspirations (anything -> blues, for end-heavy characters). I actually have it set up to generate macros in my power tray, so YMMV.

    Quote:
    $$macro T1 "insp_combine "Insight" "Catch a Breath"$$insp_combine "Enrage" "Catch a Breath"$$insp_combine "Luck" "Catch a Breath"$$insp_combine "Respite" "Catch a Breath"$$insp_combine "Sturdy" "Catch a Breath""
    $$macro T2 "insp_combine "Keen Insight" "Take a Breather"$$insp_combine "Focused Rage" "Take a Breather"$$insp_combine "Good Luck" "Take a Breather"$$insp_combine "Dramatic Improvement" "Take a Breather"$$insp_combine "Rugged" "Take a Breather""
$$macro T3 "insp_combine "Uncanny Insight" "Second Wind"$$insp_combine "Righteous Rage" "Second Wind"$$insp_combine "Phenomenal Luck" "Second Wind"$$insp_combine "Resurgence" "Second Wind"$$insp_combine "Robust" "Second Wind""
    $$macro END "insp_exec_name "Catch a Breath"$$insp_exec_name "Take a Breather"$$insp_exec_name "Second Wind""
(no underscores in the names because I forgot about that when I wrote it, never got around to fixing it; BFs and Awakens left out because they drop so infrequently)
  7. With the exception of a few problem NPCs (Lady Jane, Fusionette), I've never had much trouble with allies.

I should probably just stuck to other mmo's

It's my last call is anyone out there willing to send me a friends reactivation!
FYI 2XP weekend has been extended into Monday.
  9. It's baaaaaackkkkk.....

At least it seems like it is. For the past week or two things were going great, no more DCs, but since 2XP Weekend began it's started happening again. Wondering if anyone else is having this issue or if it's really just me this time.
  10. This isn't the first I've heard of people not reactivating. Someone on one of my global channels said his friend was having an issue with the game not accepting their username and/or password, despite resetting the password and triple-checking to make sure everything was being input correctly.
  11. Bug maybe? I encountered this myself a while back on my 50. Petitioned it and got the merits. Odd that you haven't heard back. By the by, are you *sure* you didn't get the merits but not the reward message? I know there was recently a bug on TFs where you wouldn't get the "Merits Rewarded!" message but they would end up in your inventory anyway.

I had thought that Stone Mallet was technically a power effect, not a weapon like War Mace, Axe, etc.

The entire reason Pain Domination exists is because Empathy was considered to be conceptually impossible for out-of-the-box villains. The devs have said as much. Now, you have a hero who goes rogue, that's another story. (I wish I could use a comic book analogy here, but Empathy as it functions in-game is one of those powersets that is rarely seen in comic books.)

A majority of Pain Domination is mirrored in Empathy. Empathy has the RAs and a very minor effect differences between the shared powers, but that's really the only difference. I seriously would not count on Empathy ever being proliferated.

    Corruptor: Empathy
    Mastermind: Empathy
Masterminds and Corruptors already have Empathy in the form of Pain Domination.

Speaking of Masterminds...Nictus Summoning primary! You've thought it, you can't un-think it!! (Think of it as trans-archetypical power proliferation.)

    Possible typo?

Yet another area of the game sorely in need of revamping.
  17. What do you mean Statesman has "defeated" Lord Recluse? Put him in prison? He could (and let's face it, will) break out. Beat him into submission? I doubt that very much, Recluse yields to no one. Killed him? Looks like Statesman's on the road to becoming Tyrant, in which case heroes are definitely still needed.

Also, SPOILER ALERT! There is no utopia. Evil in the world will never fully go away because good is unable to take the steps necessary to do so without violating the principles which make it good (i.e., evil will always win because good is dumb).
  18. Just discovered this myself, was going to come here and post about it in fact. It was extremely jarring the first time I heard it. One thing I would add is that the sound actually stops once you get out of range of the mobs, defeating them isn't necessary.

You had your powers, you had Enhancements, and... that was it. One of the few things I really liked about Jack's management style was the dark glee he seemed to take in keeping the min-maxers in the dark as regards the actual numbers happening behind the curtain. That's all gone now, of course, and too bad too, but I see no benefit in making building a character even more like doing your taxes. If I wanted to play an MMO that was like doing my taxes, I'd play EVE Online.
But you can still play the game the way you described. It wasn't made any harder with the inclusion of Real Numbers, Inventions, and Set Bonuses. You can still level up to 50 with nothing but TOs (lawl), DOs and SOs. (I speak of the PvE game of course, PvP of course is another matter entirely. lolpvp) It's fine if you don't see the benefit, but as long as there's no detriment in not taking part, I can't imagine why this shouldn't be done.

As to the OP, /signed. More customization = good, it bugs the hell out of me that my Robotics Mastermind, who is a robot "him"self, doesn't share "his" henchmen's resistances and weaknesses. of course, this could be really easy to manipulate if done carelessly (*coughAEcough*). What I envision is an option available at character creation - along with Archetype, Origin and Powersets, you have another option that lets you choose from several options, like human (the default, no particular strengths/weaknesses), robot, etc. Enemies have these sorts of classifications, why not us?

It also doesn't add up that people who have rigs half as good as yours aren't experiencing the same or worse problems. If you haven't already done so, I'd recommend hopping over to the Tech Support forum, what you're describing is truly bizarre and obviously not what most people are experiencing.
  21. I actually haven't had any problems lately. Used to be I was DCing at least once per game session.
  22. I was having this problem the other day myself. Was at the Pocket D tailor and none of my power effects were showing up. Switched characters and everything was fine. Switched back to character #1 and the power effects were showing up again. Haven't encountered it since, not that I've done a crazy amount of power customization since. Definitely sounds like an intermittent bug though.
  23. You have it a bit mixed up -- the devs said they didn't want Ice powers to look like jewels.
  24. The only power customization-associated lag I've noticed is in the costume creator itself when testing out different colors. Default colors work fine, but any custom setting slows things down a bit. I was also on a Rikti Raid shortly after I16 came out and as I recall the performance there was far worse than usual.
