I personally enjoy my DM/DA Brute, because even though he's difficult to play he's lots of fun. 2 heals (one a PBAoE), 1 PBAoE end booster (slot heavily for recharge, you're gonna need it as often as possible, and also the animation/sound is just cool), and a PBAoE enemy-based damage/tohit buff.
Don't buy into the hype about the mez toggles interfering with Fury; I haven't tried running both because I don't have both yet (and I'm on the fence about OG anyway - see below), but there's no noticeable difference with Oppressive Gloom alone. Which isn't to say it doesn't have its own issues -- wandering enemies is a little annoying and occasionally causes problems for Soul Drain, Dark Regen and Dark Consumption, and the Razzle Dazzle Immob proc doesn't seem to help much (although it's tough to tell when it procs since it has no visual effect). And to echo what Aett said, the mez toggles probably would suit a Tanker better. -

The only problem with the Eye of Leviathan is if you've got a group of melee characters that can't fly. IIRC There's a ledge right next to it where you could get one or two melee characters to attack from. -

I'm a toon hoarder. I've got a few toons languishing in the teens that I just can't bring myself to delete. I took advantage of the recent free server transfers to move a few of them off my home server though.
I don't think I can ever bring myself to delete a character after I ended up picking up my level 15Inv/SS Tanker after a couple years, actually learned to play him (after a much-needed respec), and got him to 50 pretty quickly. The only exception I might make is if the toon is lower than level 10. If I've only invested a few hours in the toon and I'm not getting much out of them, then I'll save the costume, free the slot and maybe reroll at a later date.
And yeah, concept often keeps me going on a toon. That was certainly the case with the aforementioned Inv/SS. -

That just isn't true. Faster cast times usually mean higher DPS....and for the record Dual Blades is a great set if you know how to use it.

Making sure to sell DOs and SOs to the right vendor in order to maximize profit (otherwise I might not be able to afford my next round of enhancements in a few levels!).

Fast animations generally gets you a weak powerset. Take a look at Dual Blades.

The dark powers are fine, and as said you can keep the fade off, but I can never get the dark energy to look good white or a lighter color.
(Note that this character also has a smoky costume aura of the same color.) I tried to get shots of Dark Regen/Consumption on this mission but they didn't turn out very well and I was too lazy to go find lowbies to gank. -

XP on outdoor mobs was explicitly reduced quite some time ago (along with halved debt inside missions) in order to encourage instanced content.
So don't hold your breath, is what I'm saying. -

The OP may have missed the "return home" portal due to the fact that it doesn't seem to appear until you get pretty close to it. Also it's been exhibiting some buggy behavior lately, mostly with repeating its animation and sound effects.
