Shiver that does nothing but slow when everything else already has the targets at the slow cap??? PB AoE hold and aura when everything else is ranged control???
The best ice control character I ever made was earth control with the crystal power effect colored ice blue. -

With I21, it was moved to a premium set. No buy electric, no play electric.
That's what happens when things became pay-for services. You create 'haves' and 'have nots'.
I enjoy electric and have an elec/earth/primal who stomps the yard. I recently made an elec/ice who's lvl 30. It pairs best with melee oriented assault sets imo. -

I'm going to toss a wild speculation out along these lines: Dark Control = Inky. Dark Astoria revamp = Tsoo revamp. Discuss.
My criteria for being officially pleased with this announcement after having to wait this long are:
1. animations and fx are new
2. dark assault is also released
3. both are released before another AT gets another set (Staff melee for stalkers only I could accept, but we all know that's not going to happen or if MMs get a 4-legged pet summoning set). -
Apparently is coming around I22. Great. I'm all for new dom sets.
However, is it the "something special" you were told was the reason doms were not getting new sets or any proliferation with I21?
From the surface, darkness control sounds like it'll be some cobbled together set using powers already in-game. I'll also assume we'll be getting Dark Assault and that'll be a cobbled together version of dark blast, dark melee and dark manipulation. If that's the case, then color me unimpressed. -

Is Darkness Control 'special' or time-consuming? Sounds like it's going to be the cobbled together set that people have been asking for for years. Maybe I'm wrong, but we'll see.
Aside from that, I want to know when it's being released. If doms are back-burnered so melee ATs get yet another set first (Staff) and then DC turns out to be nothing more than a cobbled set, I'll be emoting the proverbial Slap in the Face. And after that I'll email you all my stuff and /ragequit. -
What's the word on the new stuff for dominators that was mentioned months ago? Is Darkness Control it? Will it be free or premium? Tell them from me I'm not impressed. Darkness Control could have been added years ago. Along with Dark Assault. Also, if it's being added any time after Staff Melee they 'can haz my stuff'.

Almost managed that myself, but he was on almost no health, hadn't fired, I hit him for the final damage, and BOOM, he just manages to fire it off. :/

I guess I'll wait a few days and hope they fix it. I'm not really in the mood to go play one of my alts... -

I believe I have found the cause and the 'fix' for this bug:
When I first ran it yesterday (11/11) on a lvl 42 character the PGA bug prevented me from completing the first mission. I then tried again today (11/12) with a lvl 50 character, but his PGA was still perma and again the mission wouldn't complete.
My friend I teamed with said it was odd because he had just run the thing on the 11th and Alexis followed him just fine. So that meant the patch from 11/10 didn't break it for him.
I considered the problem as one of 3 possibilities:
a) my account was bugged and my friend's wasn't
b) the bug is completely random
c) there was a problem with the way I accessed the mission
My gut told me choice c). Recall this new update added a feature for accessing the SSA missions by phone. You call up the SSA contacts and launch the missions.
This is what I'd done for both my attempts that were bugged. So I told my friend I was going to reset and "try something". I went ahead and physically got the mission from the contact this time and voila' the PGA arrow disappeared like it should have and I was able to do the mission. I asked my friend if he'd done the same thing with his working mission and his answer was yes. So 2 attempts with the call up feature didn't work. And 2 attempts with direct contact did work.
Try it and see if it fixes your problems. -

Forget "months"; its already been over a year, a year in which everyone else was given multiple new sets. Even if Doms were given a new set tomorrow, they'd still be far behind. At this point I have serious doubts that there ever was anything new in particular planned for Doms, it seems more likely they just tossed out that line to placate people who were disappointed at Doms being left out.

If I may make a few suggestions:
1) I like the use of Kinetic Crash for the big recharge bonus. But wouldn't it be better off in Power Bolt, since it reduces the damage of the power its slotted in? Then again, maybe with the big two (TF +ET) you're not relying on Power Burst for damage like I do.
2) Volcanic Gasses could give you an extra +7.5% recharge if you slot it 4 Basilisks and the Lockdown proc. I cant quite remember what you'd be losing (+3% Damage?, some AoE defence?) but youre missing the big ranged defence bonus from Lockdown anyway, so I'd switch if it was me.
3) The Build Up proc in Decimation works kind of nicely as a replacement for the A/E/R piece in a blast you regularly use. You'll probably have enough end, recharge and accuracy anyway to skip it. I imagine it's even better if you have the big two (TF + ET) to fire off during the build up when it activates. I have my damage bonus on the combat attributes monitor and often notice it going off.
Basilisks were a bit pricey, and the Lockdowns are higher level. With the pseudopet hold (no domination or PB boost), I went with more powerful numbers than expensive less powerful set.
BU proc could work. Just going with better overall stats with that set was all. Dmg seems good enough as is without relying on the proc to boost it.
I could easily get more rch in there with more cash and some purps. The build was more an 'average man' permadom. It's fairly cheap and doesn't rely on any really crazy to get/buy sets. Most of this stuff could be had for reasonable prices as you level up to 50. -

I havent tried Energy Transfer because I didn't have enough slots to dedicate to it. How did you find the endurance cost, DarkCurrent, and also how did you cope with the self-damage? Was that significant or did natural regeneration heal it back easily enough?
The self-damage is just part of the attraction. Considering I have no shield, it makes it even more fun. With the layers of control though, it's fairly safe. But I'm okay running from mob to mob in the orange for HP. Pop a green here and there seems to cover it.
For AoE in early levels, I've taken to crafting hand grenades, stun grenades and plasmatic tasers. The stun grenades stack even more with all the other stunning you have. Good stuff. -

Bone Smasher, Total Focus and ET all by lvl 35. That's pretty much 3 dead minions in a row right there.
I'll throw in a vote for whirling hands as well. It's pretty solid damage and better range these days. Combined with the above stunning hits and stalagmites, it gives you lots of extra control.
You already have QS, EQ and VG. Toss in Stoney, plus the kb in your blasts and you have lots of control, lots of debuff and lots of damage.
Snagging Energy Torrent and the energy targeted AoE (name escapes me) with 41 and 44 picks for major dps boost.
I will take the smash/lethal resist just to have it, but really who needs a shield with all that? -

11.9 is very fine for me!

I dislike your lvl 41+ picks. Seem to be a ton of wasted potential just to get some more rchg. This is the prototypical gimping oneself for the sake of permadom.
You could get perma without diving into the concealment pool headfirst and refusing to come up for air.
You're missing out on some nice powers in that Mu set. -
Anyone else think doms are a no-fit for the new 'playstyle' choice during character creation and the potential forum bloat reduction being considered by the dev crew.
Doms can be found under crowd control only as a playstyle. That doesn't fit half of what the AT does. It also can be ranged. It also can be melee.
And for the forum category, placing them in a Support AT forum is really demeaning imo. I don't know about you, but my doms provide very little support in regard to buffs. They control, then destroy. The end.
Maybe there's needs to be a Hybrid category or something. IDK. Just the current and potential future characterization aren't cutting it for me. -
On a side note, it's really sad that in order to get the game to work with an ATI card you have to use a driver 4 updates old.
I sure hope this gets fixed before Freedom goes global. Otherwise you're going to have a lot of new folks getting ticked that they can't play using their newer card and updated drivers (something that's preached as a 'must' for this type of game).
A lot of the newbs will have no clue to come to this forum to find out how to 'fix' the problem. -

You'll see a gravity control revamp before any new control set, I'll wager.

Where's Build Up?
Weave isn't as useful as any of the other DEF powers like stealth, maneuvers, or CJ.
Acrobatics can be replaced with a KB IO or putting a Kin Crash (?) set in Lift.
So you could swap weave with another def power and acro with BU.
Volt Sentinel isn't that great.
Where's your cone blast? It's the only real AoE you have until PPP/APP.
Combined with a dmg proc'd crushing field, you can get some decent AoE damage from range. Then, add in Ball Lightning from Mu. You'll be able to WH into a corner, CF, cone, Ball... charge and Thunder Strike! -
