Wow...ummm...I can haz old forums back plz?
Not a fan of this new setup. Seems to me it has a lot more, well, fluff, I guess I'd call it.
And frick, I've got a dang _NA after my handle. >.< -
I must say, I am disappointed about the decision to only take 2 years worth of messages.
For me, it's not so much the actual content of the messages, but rather the fact that rednames deigned to respond to me that I find important. That can't be replicated by copy/pasting info to a text file.
In a way, I liken it to the difference between buying a game in a brick-and-mortar store and buying a digital download from Steam or some other service. In both cases, you have the data/info, but IMO, the game disc is a lot more...meaningful...in terms of ownership.
*shrug* -
I'll definitely keep him in mind for when it comes time to actually DO this.
Thanks all. -
Don't worry about it Wassy. I've been responsible for a lot of threadjacks. At least this one was productive, unlike mine, which usually end up being:
/em Robot Chicken Nerd
Booobs...
As for what I meant by "action", well, it was going to consist of one character in the middle of a Total Focus pose, while the other is doing the pose for Power Blast, and both would be in the air. Power effects would consist of Snow Storm, the glowy fists of TF, and the glowing for PB (possibly with one or two of the balls of energy in the air). -
Well, I do have another scene in mind that would work strictly as a pin-up. (Git yer minds outta the gutter...
)
And really, this isn't something I want done NAO, but rather to give me some ideas as to who to go to, turn around time, etc. -
See, what I like about their styles is that they make the ladies look like women. Not stick figures with a pair of boobs attached.
What I'm looking for, potentially, is sort of a combo action/pin-up piece. The two characters are fraternal twin sisters who somehow ended up on opposite sides of the fence (cliched I know). There would be power effects (not many, just enough to differentiate the two) and a semi-detailed backdrop.
I would want something suitable for framing.
Again, this is just throwing something out there. I've had this stupid scene in my head for quite a while, just like how some get a song stuck in their noggin. -
Hello all. New to this part, but I needs some halps...
I'm thinking about getting a commission done of two of my characters. I've had this idea bouncing around in my head for quite a while now, but the thing is, I need someone to draw it.
What I'm looking for is a Frank Cho/David Nakayama-esque (tried asking DN if he did commissions, but no response. It's cool, I know he's a busy guy.) draw-er of females. Naturally, I'd want it colored and probably of the 11x17 size with a fairly detailed background. I don't want to go too much into detail here as I don't want someone stealin' mah ideas.
What/who would be a good place to start, in terms of availability and prices?
Thanks for your time. -
If you're doing it in a mission, then there's no logout. Unless that's been changed of course.
-
Or, you could get someone who is working on their Damage badge. Have them get walloped, and you turn on your ST heal on autofire.
But ya, the Tyrant map is what I was getting at, in terms of lava. -
If you have an emp, you'd be better off doing the Fire Imps/Tank in a lava bath than the Arena. Arena is only really useful for those that don't have an AoE/ST non-interruptible, non-target based heal.

One of the requirements that I found, was that the mentoring character needs to be doing something that affects more than just themselves. Namely, you can't just turn on your shields or Healing Flames, for instance, and stand there.
I was doing some SK'ing with my Brute and my alt account (this was a good long while ago) and while they weren't doing anything, no progress would accumulate. However, once I put Burn on autofire, progress started accumulating. This was one the first few Mentoring badges, so there was not really a chance of it not ticking over in the first place. Ergo, in my limited experience, you need to be doing something that affects more than yourself. I didn't do any extensive testing, such as whether Blazing Aura would do, or healing the sidekickee, or with other characters. -

4. Arena Survivalist - needs minimum three people for a Battle Royale match.

Nope, needs 2.
Custom, Individual Kills, 1 Kill, slider to 2 people, whatever level range you want. -

Not everybody lives their lives according to what mythology dictates.
[/ QUOTE ] They've done it before ... waaaaaay back at the start. Gravity used to have no pet power. They removed a team recall power called fold space if I remember correctly and replaced it with Singularity.
Which is both a good thing and a huge shame, as I really wanted that power on my grav/FF controller.
[/ QUOTE ]
The original CoH manual also has something like Resist Holds in /Regen for Scrappers. (And yes, there was a power called Fold Space in Grav Control.)
That power was rolled into Integration. Can't remember what replaced it. Resilience maybe? Dunno. Don't have my manual handy.
So, there IS precedent for the wholesale removal of powers. -

Then where does the rewriting to suit a viewpoint end, exactly? Your hero/villain "wasn't around" for an anniversary. Your hero/villain may also have not gotten Empath, while another of your toons did. Why not change that too?
Here is the basis of the argument: "We know the badge means this. But we WANT it to mean THIS." What is the benefit of changing the badge's intent? What is it you're "looking" for? It's not the original intent of the badge, because you're saying "that's unfair because a toon wasn't there to get it".
So, what is it? What's driving the need?

It's called a 'retcon'. Quite common in comics.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's a what. I asked for a why. Try to be more informative and less dismissive, eh?
[/ QUOTE ]
That is also a why.
As to your specific thing, what is the benefit of leaving it as is?
What about for those people who made characters using the original powersets, but there are now more thematically appropriate sets?
Then there are also those (like myself) who are stuck with characters that are pretty much unfun, but can't/don't want to be deleted due to having the 1st/2nd anniv badges. I've got about 5 heroes on my main server that simply aren't fun to play, yet they have those badges. I don't want to spend $50 moving them to another server, but would like those slots for ones that would be fun to play. If I could delete them without fear of losing those badges, I would do so. But I can't, so those slots are wasted.
And then there are those people who are around, with active accounts, but for some reason can't login. If they can get it with 1 char, then they shouldn't be penalized on the rest of their chars.
Finally, since this is a game that encourages many characters per player, what benefit is there to making a person login an absurd number of characters just to get that badge? I've got around 50 alts, no they aren't all active, but they are made. That's a decent chunk of time JUST to log them in.
It's a quality of life feature. Sure, there'll be a minority that aren't happy with it being account-based, but the benefits outweigh the downsides. -

Thematically, the Rogue Isles "existed" during the 1st Anniversary. Just because they weren't 'playable' then, doesn't mean they just poofed into existence in the fictional, Co* universe, during Issue 5 (or 6, can't remember exactly).
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, but the badge isn't for the Rogue Isles celebrating the anniversary, it's for "my character" celebrating. My villain wasn't "around". Thematically, as it stands right now, it makes sense. I don't see a need for making it global. I see other people desiring it, sure; I just don't understand that desire.
It's okay to disagree. If it passes, yay you. If it doesn't pass, yay logic.
[/ QUOTE ]
In a way, unless your villain is a robot/dimensional wanderer/etc, then they were 'around'. Since the villains were all in the Zig, then they existed prior to CoV coming out for some <x> length of time. Now, granted I don't know for sure at what age they throw people into the Zig, but one would think they'd have to be at least a mid-to-late teenager (or developmental equivalent) to get chucked into there.
Again, that whole poofing into existence thing.
And as for the badge text, *shrug*. Text can be changed. It's not like they are unalterable. -

While I like how the Anniversary badges can currently kind of tell you "how old" an individual character is I don't think I'd be real upset if these badges became account based. Making them account based would certainly solve the "have to log in dozens of alts" hassle some people have.
My guess (and this is purely a guess) is that if this change happened it would NOT be retroactive.
But once again I would not really be upset if they figured out how to award them retroactively anyway.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm pretty much in the same boat here. The anniversary badges were designed during a time that precluded Vet badges, and were meant to show a given toon's presence during an anniversary period. That's the "design", which is fine with me, and makes sense. Vet badges fill in the "global account" call.
If they did do this, however, it wouldn't faze me. It would just make the anniversary badges feel a touch more homogenized, that's all. I just don't see why a Soldier of Arachnos would qualify for the 1st anniversary badge, for instance.

If I am reading you right, you are looking for Hall of Fame missions to get the badges associated with running them.
Unfortunately, Hall of Fame arcs do not stay that way for long due to the actions of the 0 & 1 star cartels that see fit to vote down any that make it there. When a HoF does make it, it is located on the default searching method under the Dev Choice arcs. Front page type of stuff.
Those badges are also going to be disappearing (with the exception of playing a single HoF arc, iirc) with Issue 15. Don't worry yourself about getting them. -
Honestly, I'm not too enthralled by the Dev Choice arcs. There's what, 1?, that's a Medium length. No Shorts or Very Shorts. And given the "Play <x> Dev Choice" badge series, makes playing the...rather bland IMO...DC arcs a pain. I haven't run across one that I'd like to play repeatedly.
Have there been any new ones in the last 2 weeks? -

I didn't quite understand this one. I mean, maybe my brain hasn't started running for the day, but it seems kind of.. wha?

I believe it has to do with one of the powerlevelling methods.
Namely, train till level 39, stop training and you'll still get xp from level 42 MA mobs even if your actual, non-trained level is like 48. -
Pretty good hoax then since Castle confirmed it's not a joke.
-
Or that it was just sent out early and the website isn't going to be up till later.
-
There's going to be a massive downside, such as losing all (or most) attained badges?
For those who are wondering, people are starting to receive an email from NCSoft announcing the new expansion, entitled "Going Rogue". Side switching and all that. It appears to be legit.
Why do I think that? There's always a downside. Nothing can ever be complete win. -
[ QUOTE ]
The possibilities are: 1) someone accidentally rating it zero, or there is a bug that causes zero ratings if you just exit, 2) someone is intentionally running around rating arcs zero for whatever reason, 3) some aspect of the arc really ticked the person off and he zeroed it out of spite.
[/ QUOTE ]
My arc got torpedoed by the 0/1-star brigade. Not once, but twice.
It had made it up to 5-stars overall and was on page 3 of the basic listing.
Three 0/1-star rates (it was at least a 2 as there were no tickets waiting for me), no feedback, no progress on the "Players have completed your arc <x> times" badge, and my arc dropped down to 4-stars and was put down to at LEAST page 250.
Second time it had made it back up to page 4. Scenario repeated itself.
The only reason these people are cowardly enough to 0/1-star something is that they know they can get away with it. They know there is absolutely nothing that the owner of the arc can do. They can't ask them to rerate, they can't ask them to actually play it, they can't ask them WHY they 0/1-starred it.
