Quote:Yup. Same thing.I do something similar sometimes when I make grilled cheese sandwiches. I like to butter the bread and then sprinkle Parmesan and garlic powder onto the buttered bread. Forms a nice crust of cheese on the outside of the sammich.
For the cheese inside, I also sprinkle in Italian Seasoning and some dried, grated lemon peel. Gives a real nice flavor other than just cheese. -
Mmmm...tarts....
Oh wait...you're talking about the food. Nvm...
Tried something new tonight. A parmesan-crusted hamburger.
It was yummy.
Make your standard hamburger patty. Sprinkle on seasoned salt, garlic powder, a little bit of onion powder, and then roll/coat with grated parmesan cheese. By the time the burger is cooked, the cheese will have made a nice, crunchy crust on the outside of the burger. Just don't make the burger too thick or otherwise the timing will be off. I did it with a fried burger, so I don't know how it would work grilled.
I also put parmesan cheese on the outside of grilled cheese sammiches. Again, makes a nice crunchy crust on the outside. -
I do agree with some of his points. Take DOA4 for example. What actual storyline is there? There's some incomprehenisble quick cutscenes between a few of the fights, but it basically amounts to nothing more than win <x> amount of times. If you don't win, hit Continue till you do. Though one even more incomprehensible is BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger. My word, I don't think I've ever encountered a game with a more incomprehensible storyline.
PvP fights basically fall into spamming the same move or the same character over and over. I tried Naruto: Rise of Ninja PvP and that was singularly unfun. Knock someone down, perform a jutsu.
However, the players who are truly skilled are just that, skilled. One can imitate skill by move spamming and twink-dom. -
I do believe that at one point WAAAAAAYYYY back in time, that the full damage counted. If you got hit for 180k pts, you'd get 180k pts progress. This was back when the buildings first came out.
May be mistaken of course. -
Put 'em in a dehydrator and make prunes out of 'em? You could always see if a local retirement home has need of fresh fruit for its residents and donate them.

Quote:Simply put, IMO, he isn't ready. He hasn't had a real wake up call yet. And until he can be brutally honest with himself, he won't. The wake up call is different for all of us, but it will happen eventually.Well, Dur, you say you don't want to die young...
...but you're not willing to take any steps that will change that.
I'd say pick up a pack of smokes next time you're at the store. Might as well.
I hate to say this, but if you keep doing what you are doing, you will die young. Look in the mirror and tell yourself, "I will be dead in 15 years unless I control my own life."
If you can live with that, stop worrying and do what you're doing.
If not, then start changing things.
I want to help you, and there is a lot of great advice in this thread. The problem is within yourself, and you are the only one with the power to change it. But until you do, you're wasting our time.
The only question then is, is it too late? -
Quote:To some people, the idea of needing a visible form of assistance is very humiliating, especially if one is still "young". At the opposite end of the spectrum, you have the George Costanzas of the world.Nothing wrong with a cane.
Get one of those awesome ones with a skull on the end of it. -
How about a back brace or a lifter's belt as an added method of support when walking?
And I hate to bring it up, but maybe consider a cane or a walker or a walking stick. Yes, it might just be embarassing as hell, but if it helps, it helps. -
A big thing about losing weight is the psychological battle. Yes, set your long-term goal at losing 200lbs.
HOWEVER, you need to set short-term goals so that you can see progress. If all you have is the long-term, you will, most likely, get disgusted part way through and quit. But if you can meet goals regularly, then you have a much better chance of finishing the plan.
Long-term: Lose 200 lbs.
Six month plan: Be able to walk five miles, regardless of the time it takes
One month plan: Lose 4 pounds
One week plan: Learn how to cook one meal decently and have leftovers
One day plan: Ditch the foods that you know are problematic
Stuff like that. I'm not saying do what I listed, but break it down into steps that are more easily accomplished than your long term goal. -
This.
Well, at least for Marvel.
What is ruining comic books is the price to amount received. $4 for a 22-page comic that is read in minutes? Not very much value received for the cost.
And then we have the inevitable multi-mega ultra-zord THIS WILL CHANGE EVERYTHING!!!1!1!!11 crossover event that happens every year. Which means that a person needs to buy 20 books of titles they may not normally want, just to get the full story. And in the end, the crossover event ends up getting retconned out of existence.
Go back to decent prices and telling stories that are relatively self-contained within the title they are germaine to. Don't put part of a Detective Comics story arc within Supergirl or Wonder Woman just to boost sales of those books. -
Quote:You need to make the conscious decision to override your prelearned notions about food. If you have leftovers and you start to eat them then and there, you need to make the conscious recognization of what you are doing and stop.I wouldn't have mentioned those 4 things if I didn't think they were a problem.
the problem with what you suggested is not that i don't know it's a problem but rather the problem loops in on itself.
I don't like cooking and i really don't have anything that is 1 meal only in my list of things my brain gets... So I'll make up a meal that could have left overs...but i don't want to cook again and left overs generally aren't as good as freshly cooked, so i eat it then. Makes sense to me. Reheating something 3 times in a day is an awful waste of energy (save energy for the environment trying to lose it for myself lol) So I just eat it all then. So those 3 problems are just tied together and it has to do with selection and my thinking and addressing them one at a time is not going to help.
An awful waste of energy? Two minutes in a microwave is more than sufficient to reheat pre-cooked leftovers. You probably use more energy having your computer on than you'll spend reheating stuff.
Quote:As far as the fast eating is concerned. It's not a psychological thing. I talk while I eat and such and I'm not gobbling my food down or anything like that. I just eat amazingly fast and as of current I've yet to figure out how or why. All explanations and all methods of trying to eat slowly have thus far failed for me.
Look at those societies that take the time to enjoy the meal with the company around them. Taking more time to eat the meal means that overall you'll eat less since there's more time for your brain to recognize you are full.
Quote:Yes, I'm 6'4or5" I weigh around the 400lbs range. Calorie intake for a sedentary life style for someone of my height to weigh 200lbs it's 2300 calories. Apparently it's quite bad to cut out more than a thousand calories below your need for maintaining your current weight and to maintain my current weight I should be eating around 4000 calories. So I'm actually under eating by a lot by some accounts especially if you factor in that some charts and such say i should weigh around 240/260...
Also my weight is a guess as i haven't come across a scale that can measure up to where i am as most stop at 300lbs. -
Try an exercise bike or an elliptical walking/running machine. You might also consider seeing a chiropractor if your back is too out of whack. And yes, it will take a while for breathing/heartbeat to return to normal. Your body is not used to the exercise.

1) Learn to leave leftovers. Put them in the fridge for the next meal. The problem with cleaning your plate anymore is that the portion sizes are too stupidly big.
2) Learn to like cooking. Make a game out of it. Watch Good Eats on Food Network. That show turns the act of cooking into science. If you learn more about WHY something does what it does, you may be more apt to learn more.
3) That's one of your biggest problems. You need to take time and think about what you are eating. If you have the choice between an apple (provided you aren't allegeric) and a serving of cookies, which do you think is the better option?
4) Slow down. Like A LOT. No one is going to come up and take your food. And unless you are in the military, no one is going to make you go out on patrol or PT. The reason competitive eaters can eat so much is that they do it quick. It takes about 20 minutes or so, iirc, for your stomach to tell your brain that you are full and should quit eating. If you are eating quick, you aren't really tasting the food.
Eating only one meal a day will slow your metabolism to a crawl. Might as well have popsicles before bed.
Smaller meals at regular intervals is a better, IMO, way to go.
No offense, but honestly, your biggest problem is seemingly you. Saying you want to lose weight, an admirable goal, but not doing the things that you need to be doing isn't going to help you. No one starts off being able to run or walk 10 miles at a sitting. Start small and work your way up. This isn't going to be something that'll be done in a month. This will most likely take you years to accomplish.
Also, one of the biggest things you can do to start is to cut out any and all regular soda. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. Empty sugar calories with no redeeming nutrients. This also includes "energy drinks". I lost a pretty quick 20lbs just from switching from regular Mt. Dew to diet (and don't give me that "metabolic syndrome" nonsense about the diet stuff). If the caffeine is what you need, switch to tea. I have about 15 more lbs to go (to get to about 165) before I'll finally feel comfortable with myself. I did manage to finally be able to wear L-size shirts as opposed to XL (just a couple weeks ago), and that was one of the best feelings I've had in a long time. -
Tried it again today with two different methods. The first was defeating Nerva Spectrals along the beach around Thorn Isle.
No luck.
Second attempt was defeating them up on the actual grass bits.
Again no luck.
Flew around constantly hitting the bind key for Caleb and didn't see a bloody thing. Went up to the ceiling, went to the War Walls, went through the forest on the adjacent island a bit. Not a sign of the bugger.
I'm fresh out of ideas and patience to deal with this. -
-
I just tried it solo. In one sunup-sundown cycle, I accounted for, going by the combat spam, around 250+ Nerva Spectral kills. With no Event Message of the spawning of Caleb.
I wonder if he's borked in that he'll only spawn after a server reset/reboot. -
So...which is it? Event message or no event message? Because that makes a MASSIVE difference to the hunt. And yes, I have villain zone event messages turned on.
-
Did that a couple times. A full team defeating them. Not getting 100 would be more of a shock.
-
Tried spawning him tonight and I have no idea how many Nervas my team defeated. But it was a lot. Heard a report from a member that had tried previously with zero success of spawning him.
Is he broken or have they changed the method? -

Quote:Like I said, that monitor is over 8 years old (has a manufacture date of May, 2002), so you need to keep that in mind. In terms of size, the new one is widescreen vs traditional square-ish shape. The new one's diagonal is about 18.5" vs 17" or so for the old one, so not that much bigger.Woah.. 45ms response time is uber slow and what people would call "crappy" for an lcd. Standard time is 5ms mine is 2ms, maybe that has something to do with it but other than that.. Is it a lot bigger of a monitor in terms of screen size compared to your old one? When I got a new much larger monitor it did take adjusting. Hope ya get it fixed.

Quote:That reminds me of something else I do...There's nothing wrong with easy and quick as long as it tastes good in the end (unless you're Rachel Ray, with the annoying perkiness and lame jokes and putting extra-virgin olive oil on everything).
French Bread + Olive Oil.
I found these little shallow bowl/saucer type things. They're only about a half inch deep. Take some extra virgin olive oil and put some in there (will work with any small dish). Mix in some garlic powder, parmesan cheese, oregano or basil (or really any herb mix that suits you), red pepper flakes, etc., in the oil and then dip the bread into the oil.
It's tasty and good for you. -
I've got it set at the 1366x768, with the Contrast and Brightness turned down to about 25 and the Focus turned down slightly. It's quite crisp, in terms of text, but the colors seem a bit washed out.
Still getting slight eye strain/headache, but I'm wondering if I've got it set too far back, or possibly too close.
Edit - As for price...*shrug*. There's only one place nearby where I can purchase a monitor and I had the choice of a $129, $149, $169, or $219. Failing that, I could drag out an even older CRT-type, but...eh.
