Quote:Those ultra-light backpackers overdo it, IMO. For your weekend/day hiker, it might be something to consider, maybe even so far as thru-hikers, but the guys who plan out every gram of weight? Ya, it's not for them.I don't know of any self-respecting backpacker who would take an AEROSOL CAN with them for any reason. Heck, the super serious ones even remove the tags from their clothing to cut down on weight.
And if you're "car camping", well, I still don't see a need for it.
Useless product is useless. -
Dr. Impossible just isn't the same without Colbert voicing him.

For anyone looking for recipes, I would recommend the magazine, "Taste of Home". It's got a lot of good stuff in it. Granted, sometimes they focus on stuff you might not like, like for me one of the recent issues focused on pumpkin, which gives me the heebee jeebees.

Quote:I direct you to the comic "Empowered". Covers this in a slightly more...risque...fashion.Um... I don't think this would work on someone like me. I've basically got a sweater on at all times. Spray on stuff bonding together skin tight would probably bond my psuedo fur into it. I just see that ending poorly.
*The comic is fairly NSFW, but a pretty funny spin on superherodom. -
Captain Ron - 90 minutes - PG13 - Be quiet. I liked this movie.
Cannonball Run - 96 min - PG
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - 120 min - PG13
Great Outdoors - 91 - PG
Princess Bride - 98 - PG
Titan A.E. - PG
I would list The Gods Must Be Crazy, but iirc, there's indigenous nudity in it, so I imagine that would be a no-no. -

The day that the last Venture Brothers episode airs, the Earth will be a sad, sad place. It's amazing that the show continues to be funny as hell after four seasons. Here's to as many seasons as the Simpsons, but with more than 8 actual funny seasons!

Could just be that gamers have gotten to the point where they're more apt to go with their gut instinct or intuition rather than sitting there dickering about something for ages on end. Your first instinct tends to be the right choice, IMO.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I can't decide between spaghetti and udon noodles for dinner... -
When we say, "Jump!", they say, "Which shark?"!
Butter glider song = awesome. -
The rest of the season starts tonight. Discuss!

Stay through the initial part of the credits. There's a scene in there.
At the very end of the credits, there's Milla saying that line that she used in the beginning about not being very nice.
Did anyone else think "Gravity Hammer" when they saw the boss battle? -
Quote:You can buy MS point cards in the store (1600 = $19.99) of varying denominations and they have a scratch off code on the back that you can either redeem directly through your xbox or on the marketplace website (can also choose stuff to buy there and when you hook up your box and sign in your gamertag, it automatically starts downloading). Or you can buy the points directly from MS on the marketplace website in either 400, 800, 1600, 4000, or 6000 pt packs. And MS points are gained with money? I know with our PS, we can add money via the PC or the PS Store. There are some difficulties with both though. One only takes increments of $5 and the other has issues with debit cards. That's neither here nor there though.
The only problem, IMO, is that occassionally there will be the DLC that is like 240pts. Hate those odd numbered ones as it leaves you with leftover points or you end up buying stuff you may not actually want, just so you even out your remainder. -

Quote:Or you could get the 4gb slim version for $199 on Amazon. With the RROD and the lack of warranty support, I will never buy a used X-Box. Just not worth the time.
I sent in my original for the E74 error back in December-ish of last year. The refurb I got back works fine. I'm still planning on selling it, even though probably won't get very much for it. Got an Elite in place of it. Have no real desire to get a slim as I don't like the glossiness, though the Reach special edition is...tempting...me. Considering I've already spent $150 on the Legendary edition though... -

Quote:*shrug*Hmm.
Thanks Candlestick. I might have to look into it then. I know Mod 8 is going to nuke this thread, but...
This is why we talk about other games in this forum. We can trust one another.
I was just going by what I could find. Check out that site I mentioned earlier if you have questions about games that contain SecuROM.
I don't actually use Steam and refuse to have it on my computer (don't try and talk me into it, I don't want it. Period). Just going by what I've heard. -
You can play them in offline mode, but not without the launcher, ttbomk. You can add games not purchased through Steam to your profile and have a shortcut to 'em.

Quote:Steam itself is the DRM. Since games bought from Steam need that launcher/whatever the hell it is, iirc, in order to function. The Steam client itself is the DRM. At least that's my understanding of it.Steam is great. I love it. You can get so many great games at low prices. I would never have paid full price for most of the games I got off of Steam for a song (Ghost Master, Freedom Force, X-Com, Uplink, Spellforce, etc.). As for DRM, it doesn't seem to have any except what's native to the original game. If Steam has its own, then it's damn unobtrusive.

Quote:The normal Mass Effect PC version has SecuROM v7.37.0012 w/5 activations. According to ReclaimYourGame.com. I see no indication that they would remove it from the Steam version, IMO.This will get locked, but what I am looking at is buying Mass Effect 1 and 2, and I do not want SecureROM on my system. Does anyone know if they will be included should I buy through Steam? I do not own a 360 yet, so am unable to go that route.
edit: Nice to see familiar posters chiming in. We don't know each other personally, but I have a fair amount of respect for most of you. -
Quote:*twitch*Yep. This issue. And yes, it's true for Brutes (and Scrappers) as well - I believe the Blaster version still has it though (seem to recall them running from the patch on my fire/fire.)
Friend of mine was giggling maniacally with her /FA brute when she found out. I was going to do a respec it in to my namesake (and old) Fire/SS, but I'm waiting for I19 to do so.

Huzzah!
Thank you VERY much for this information. I think I need to go lie down now as I do declare, I have the vapours... -
Quote:In some cases, you get to have both Steam's DRM and whatever else that particular publisher deems necessary, iirc.I have a question about the use of Steam/Valve as a download site. Does it include DRMs of the games you buy?
IMO, go with Good Ol' Games (gog.com) rather than Steam. Granted, it's a much smaller catalog, but there's some good stuff in there that you may have missed. -
Wait, what? They removed Fear from Burn? How did I miss this? Is that effect carried over to Brutes?
I play a DM/FA Brute and I quite honestly, love the pairing. Granted, native Resists (even with Tough) are quite low and makes for a squishy Brute. But the -tohit from DM makes it seem as though I have actual Defense at times. Survivability also gets a nice boost from working Siphon Life into the regular attack chain. I'm guessing it would be a nice match for a Tank as well. AoE isn't all that great though.
I've also got a Fire/Ice Tank that used Ice Patch + Burn. Fun combo to take into DA for some work. -
Quote:Skilled players have actual skill. One friend in college was able to easily pull off 10-hit combos against other players, can't remember the game though.this statement is contradictory or poorly written. people who develop skill in the game can easily slam button mashers because they have control of when and where they pull off their special moves. scrub players take saturation characters, like maxi and eddy gordo, but they use combos that skilled players can counter because they know how the combo is going. they dont emulate real skill, they become roughly equivalent to a player who is learning the characters, but ince they dont spend the time learning how the characters play, and what predictable holes are in their defenses and compensate for them, they can be taken down by an actually skilled player.
ultimatelythe author writes from a position of ignorance and his contribution to serious discussion is moot. its the internet, everyone has a voice, and shortly we learn that everyone doesnt really have much to say.
as for whether fighting games are evolving, i really reel i just need to point to arc system works stuff. the myriad of systems in guilty gear and later blazblue introduced so much depth and paper rock scissors to the genre that it evolved the genre significantly.
People can fake being "skilled" by performing the same BS combo, or few sets of moves over and over. To the average player who button mashes (like me), that imitates the people who are actually skilled, to a degree. When you are lying face down at the end of the match, there is no real difference. You lost, they won. Against actual skilled players, they won't, but that doesn't matter. They won against you.
