The Cassini-Huygens probe is still operating out by Saturn.

Quote:Same thing that happened to the people in the first farm house that Rick encounters on his way to Atlanta. Taking the express lane out of this life. I could easily see the researchers, who are human after all, doing so. Or they might've decided that they would rather be with their families and headed off like Random Family did. Or they just didn't get to the lab before things went kaput and/or they were the Sunday Brunch.Well I will say that one of the things that bugs me is the convienience of no zombies around for "important" yet long-winded scenes. But I just re-read the first TPB (forgot I even bought it) and the book was guilty of this as well. I bring this up because like Sleestack, I too wondered where the rest of the CDC staff was. I would assume a couple of them were the "fresher samples", but one guy was able to clear the CDC to a level that he could move around? I want him on my team! Until he turns into a zombies from the acid/contagion cocktail that I dreamed up.

Quote:Sorry Lumi, but I have home-canned food from about 5-6 years ago that is still good. It all depends on the quality of the canning process and the quality of the containers as well as the item being canned. Glass jars will last longer, in terms of storage time not in terms of durability, than a cheap can. I've had different types of soda last for different lengths of time. The lighter-colored, non-cola-based ones tend to last the longest, with the cola-based ones eating through the can relatively quickly.
Long-term survival depends primarily on your location. In the show, the group is scavenging supplies from Atlanta. This gives them approximately 18 months of available food, minus however long they were there before Rick joined them. That's the average shelf life of canned food, 18 months. Some is only good for a year, some is good for 3-5, and there have been examples of canned food still being edible and bacteria-free for as long as 46 years, but a good average is 18 months. After that, they'll start to run out of readily available food and have to resort to what the land provides, even if they've been supplementing their canned food with fish, game and edible plants.
Anecdotal, I know. :/ -
Ok, Volkov = teh crazy. The Die Hard spoof, especially the taping to the back (though I wonder how he managed to tape it there...) and the tacks was pretty dang funny.
The product placement is getting a bit...excessive. Now, seeing the characters eating the food is ok, it's when they do the equivalent of the old-timey fourth-wall breaking bits of the actors turning to the camera and hawking whatever product is sponsoring the show.
Jeff and Lester have to be two of the dumbest crooks I've ever seen. It's a wonder they can find their way to the store for work.
I find it funny that Ellie is basically equivalating spying to drinking. Making it sound he fell off the wagon. I could just see him saying, "I promise Ellie, just one more mission! I don't have a problem, I swear! I can quit any time I want!". -
Quote:slee man, you gotta watch them spoilers there. That's a pretty hefty thing.IIRC, all of the dead bodies we've seen just lying around were in places where there was a military presence. That is, all of them were shot in the head.
* * * *
In the comic Andrea shot Amy in the head immediately to keep her from reanimating.
*SPOILER REMOVED* -
Not the closest...the freshest, I think is what he said. To me, that meant it was brain tissue from a person that was bitten, but hadn't yet turned. He mentioned that the other tissue was necrotic, aka dead, meaning from a walker. I'm fairly certain that was brain tissue he was working with.

Well, I think we can throw comic continuity right the hell out the window. >.< There may be little nods to the comic, like with Jim, but who knows what's going to happen.

If we are going by WWZ rules, the infection speed is based upon how badly the person infected was wounded. A scratch or graze from an infected will result in a "slow burn", meaning there can be a good portion of time from initial infection to the fever stage then death and reanimation. But a bite to a close spot, like Amy's, will result in a much quicker death and reanimation.
Presuming the quarrel was, at minimum, wiped down to remove a good portion of the infected material, it could result in a slow burn if the impact site was away from major arteries and veins. There'll still be virii on it, but not to the extent that it would be. I seem to remember Redneck wiping down the bolts after removing, if only so that material on it wouldn't affect its flight pattern.
Had a spoiler written up in a different color, but thought better of it. >.< -
Didn't that room blow up? Isn't that what killed them? I don't recall them dying from viewing the intersect.

Ah, it's that time of the year again...when we can say goodbye to seeing our toes again until spring.
My Turkey Day feast contains...
A full turkey plus a pork boston butt. Each were brined for 3 whole days. They both just came out of the oven (a little early I know), but OMG...the turkey is so nice and crispy and flavorful. The pork is sooooo juicy.
I was going to smoke 'em in my smoker, but it's more than just a little bit cold outside, so I had to make do with the oven. I know it's not the same, but I set the oven at about 225 and let it go for ~7-8 hours. It is still durn tasty. -
Quote:She was bit on the neck and bled out. She wasn't alive at the end, iirc.Loving the show so far but I'm curious and my brain can't remember right now: is Andrea's sister the first one we've seen bitten on the show but left alive? Have they shown that the infection (presumably) is spread by bites?
Should we expect the survivors to freak out if the birthday girl revives and tries to take a bite out of her sister next week or will she already be head-shot?
P.S. I am also of the opinion that this was Merle's doing.
Edit - There was Morgan's wife, back when Rick was still in his hometown. They said she was bit, went feverish/sick, died, came back. That's why they were restraining Rick because of his wounds. They thought he was bit. -
The one that always gets me...
When non-supers get thrown at a concrete wall...and the concrete breaks. Ya...no. Now, I'm not an expert on civil engineering, but one would think concrete with rebar innit would be a bit more sturdy than the meatsack that comprises your average human being. -
Is it just me or does the guy in green look a lot like Nathan Fillion? And the guy on the left reminds me a little of Turk...
-
Or, they simply didn't cover all possible access routes. After all, Rick & crew got there without setting off any alarms. They didn't, seemingly, alarm the road. Iirc, they started setting up those alarms AFTER Merle was already gone, so it's very conceivable he didn't even know about them.

"Geeks" could be like a military-style usage of the letter "G" for "Ghouls". Kinda like WWZ used "Zeds".

Quote:Toxoplasmosis. It causes mice to become less fearful of cats, leading to them frequenting cat-infested areas, leading to the mice being eaten and passing on the parasite to its preferred host, the cat.Yeah, I've seen stories about parasites that can force or induce the host to do things it normally would not do, for no other reason than to benefit the parasite. Eating sure doesnt' seem to provide much in the way of nutrition or sustenance for the decaying zombies, lol.

Yes, they do. Just look at Fox. However, [as] is a nighttime channel with few actual shows other than reruns. VB is, arguably, one of their best, if not the best. VB and Robot Chicken are about the only things they have that are worth a damn anymore.
They USED to have a plethora of good shows, but not anymore and I believe they know it. -
I don't think [as] is that stupid as to axe one of their greatest shows. What would they replace it with? More Tim & Eric dreck? It's not like the channel is swimming in quality shows.
-
That would get me to at least stop in and see what they were offering...even if it was just tires or dentistry...

Is it just me or is having an Xmas special before even frickin' Thanksgiving just a little bit...much? I mean, dang it, they've been advertising that holiday since Halloween. A local place already has Xmas trees available (and not the fake ones, real trees!). I'm just waiting for the point when they start advertising on Dec. 26th as "JUST 364 MORE DAYS TILL CHRISTMAS!!11!11!1!!".

Quote:No, I don't think so. Previous episode had Hatred spying on her and she was in basically the same situation with whomever she had hooked up with.I think Hatred was lied too... Heh, I feel kinda bad for Tinyfeet. XD
Though, granted, at times her eyes seemed to be saying she didn't like it.
Ya, that was pretty much epic and yes, it kinda felt like series finale, but it did say that they will return in the credits. Glad to see Dean grow a pair and tell off the Outrider. -
Brock's description of a Rusty Venture seems to be quite more...appro...than the others.
-
Dr. Mrs. The Monarch with wet hair was awesomely hawt.
Nice to see Vatred get back together with Princess Tinyfeet. -
Hah! Brock running over the dead Associate. Trianna is stone cold.
