Incidentally, while we're on the topic... why haven't we seen any effort to transfer Electric sets to Heroes? The devs constantly cry "Balance!" and yet they leave this little discrepancy hanging out there...

    [/ QUOTE ]
They're the only two powersets signature to Brutes. Electric Armor would also be weak as a Tanker set, and Electric Melee would give energy damage to Scrappers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yet there's the continual stallage on bringing Energy Aura over for Tanks. It only makes sense as they already have Energy Melee. Tanks have no 'signature' powersets (not counting Ice because of the issues dealing with Fury and the Slows in Ice which is a game mechanics issue of why Brutes don't have Ice). Scrappers have no 'signature' powersets. Brutes get Electric and Stalkers get Ninjitsu.

The only problem I have with it is that it's a second Issue that's giving new powersets to both Brutes and Stalkers. The only Hero AT that has gotten four new sets is Defenders and that was way back in Issue 5.

    Nore invasions please.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So, I stayed online in Freedom from 10pm to 10am CST, managed to get the 25 bombs, and the 100 rikti, but despite being on 8-man teams for those 12 hours, and attacking the heavy suits, only got 6 kills total.

Is there going to be a once-a-month or once-a-week event possibility for those of us still trying to get the badge?

Any time some team completes (I'm not sure if it's a 'complete' or at some other point in the TF as I haven't done it yet) a Lady Grey Task Force (the coop TF), it will trigger an invasion to a random CoH or CoV zone. It's only a single zone and it's random, but it is a complete invasion including bombs and potentially heavies.

Okay, forgive me if this has been said, but an idea just hit me:

If there's a parallel earth where outbreak was never contained, might there not be other parallel earths where other major game events never happened?

Like, say, the rise of the council?

Might we be getting access to a world where the 5th column never went away?

(Okay, I know it's a stretch, but still, it's not as crazy as some of the other stuff I've come up with...)

    [/ QUOTE ]

If we could get duplicate 'worlds' that include all the zones (altered to fit the theme), rather than just the small instanced zones of 'different worlds'...

Well...that would be AWESOME! To the MAX even.

I think it's very possible that a portal that connects two dimensions together could connect one at 2007 to the other at 2107 or beyond.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Time could be moving relatively slower or faster on any given parallel Earth as compared to Earth Prime ('our' Paragon City Earth)

    [/ QUOTE ]

    A couple of things:

    1) We keep talking about the "Rikti homeworld" as a parallel Earth. Why can't it be the same Earth, just different times. We're still talking seriously about time-travel, right? Maybe the Rikti believe that something done in our time will permanently unmake theirs. That would mean they are the ones messing with what has been.

    2) Assuming my above statements are correct, Rikti AT's anyone?

    [/ QUOTE ]

We figure it's a parallel world because of all the other parallel worlds that we've seen: Axis Amerika, Hydra Homeworld, the Praetorian worlds, etc.

There won't be Rikti ATs before Villains get their EATs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What if Rikti AT's ARE EAT's?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Possible. Very possible.

    But not probable.

Given what has been stated about the difficulty in making an Epic AT (powers, animations, storylines, contacts, etc), it is much more likely that Warshades and Peacebringers will be ported over as Nicti and Hatebringers since all that would have to be done is probably change a few powers, put in the contacts and write the storylines. As compared to building an entire AT from scratch.

The Ouroboros is clearly wood. As mentioned above it has grain, and shows mitre work on the corners. What that might mean is beyond me though.

Perhaps Sally has been taking woodworking classes at Croatoa U. and it is a self portrait.

If it's wood work, wouldn't that signify the Circle?

After all, they do have the Thorn Tree....

    Gonna talk spoilery things.

    Turn back now.

    You've been warned.

    Last chance.

I always thought they did it themselves, like the Lost. Which, the Lost are just proto-Rikti anyway. The same thing that drives the Lost to mutate themselves could've been what led a small group of Rikti to start the process on their world which mutated into Outbreak and then changed everyone, slowly, over a couple hundred years. They've managed to speed up the process though with regards to Honoree.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Umm...didn't some extraterrestrial force start the mutation on the Rikti? As in the black rectangle ala 2001?

I don't believe they did it to themselves, at least initially.

"In this issue ... a hero dies!"

    [/ QUOTE ]

My thoughts on that are reflected in the quote in my sig: "Death is not a career ending injury around here." - Bob the Necromancer

Wonder if anyone can identify origin of that quote (with or without Google)?

I recall something like that being said in the Angel series... maybe by someone who worked for Wolfram & Hart?

Something about their contracts with the company extending beyond death...

    PsychoChronoMetron

    [/ QUOTE ]

That was my reaction reading this.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I thought we took care of that in Faultline. The only way that could be used to get rid of us is if we weren't here to need to be gotten rid of.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nemesis (or Villain <x> whomever you prefer) subsumes the Recluse's Victory temporal technology to go back to just before you 'destroy' the PsychoChronoMetron and substitues a fake (or a copy) for you to destroy.

The villain then uses the PCM to complete the erasure of your personality.
  12. [ QUOTE ]

I can add it later if anyone requests is, but from my knowledge i don't believe i know anyone who still gets it.

/Energy Melee Tanks are forced to take Barrage, so you still might want to include it just for comparisons sake between Tanks, Brutes, and Stalkers.
  13. Thank you very much for your contributions to the Game Arctic Sun.

    You helped bring things alive.

We've lost WAY too many good people over the years, and it's sad to see another one go.

Good luck in your new job!
  14. Someone definitely needs to check the Heavy spawning script.

Been on several 8-man teams (with others around) and there have been no Heavies in multiple zone invasions. Other times, only a single one spawns and that's it.

    It just seems hinky. *shrug*
  15. You have decent points there.

    [ QUOTE ]

I think Creole Ned brings up a good point. They could return in a small way. Time will tell.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If they returned in anything less than game-wide, it would be worse than if they didn't return at all.

    Case in point: RV Isolator.

Were the 5th to return in some mediocre fashion, as in a couple missions in a TF, rather than something like what the Rikti had, it would an extreme disappointment and letdown, given just how long they've been absent from the game.

But that's the end of my threadjack.
  16. [ QUOTE ]

Sure there is how about a different storyline advancement like say the Rikti. I didn't really go to indepth on the hints that I reported because I couldn't remember all the fine details, but Posi did say that, had they not did the Rikti the 5th may have had a return by now.

You can take that for what its worth, I guess.

    ~MR

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nevertheless, it's been said that the 5th will be returning for two years now. And it's always 'something else' coming in the way of them coming back. Some other storyline rather than what people have been wanting since the 5th went away.

It wasn't so much a dig on you MindRipper, but rather the whole sorry tale of the 5th in their entirety.

I've no doubt something else will come up that will prevent the 5th from returning for Issue 11, 12, 13,...35,...,52...

What I find funny is this:

    [ QUOTE ]

Then, Mindripper asked about a favorite villain group, the 5th Column. That question garnered a big, fat YES! They shall return! Mr. Ripper reports he had the impression the 5th would return in Issue 11. That’s just an impression--no confirmation. Just more grist for the Mill.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They've been saying 'The 5th will be back' for two years now.

I'll believe it when I see it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, they have. The 5th, unknown to the rest of humanity, have admitted to being horrible procrastinators.

Ok, joke over. If they have planned all along for them to come back, as they've said, then why not say the 5th are coming back? Granted, it might not be the next issue or in the next 5 issues, but that doesn't mean it'll never happen.

I imagine there'll be much fanfare when it does finally happen. As for when, the thread I gathered the info from for that article had no specific hints so I have no idea.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh, I've no doubt you did your best on info gathering.

It's just that, to me, any comment that 'The 5th will return' is suspect simply because they have been saying it so long and it's yet to materialize.

I think it was Manticore that said way back when, that the 5th will return.

And ever since, every issue we get our hopes up, only to never see them come back.

Edit - While it's one thing to say things like EATs get backburnered, storyline advancements such as the return of the 5th shouldn't get bumped back for anything less than massive bugs and stuff that needs to be patched.

Given that we've seen probably the limit of sweeping, widescale changes that affect the core mechanics of the game (Special ED, GDN, Inventions, PvP, Villains), there is simply no real reason to delay bringing them back or for continual storyline advancements, IMO.

Something I feel needs to be added here:

Sometimes selling at a contact is the best idea, say when common drops sell at terribly low prices, or when a rare drop is one not many people need. More often in my experience, however, is that you would get more influence by selling salvage at Wentworth's/the Black Market. Off-level enhancements/recipes should most often be sold at a contact, but that's another story.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's an excellent point, and well worth noting.

My experience has been that recipes on the 5's tend to move relatively quickly at auction (level 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50), but everything else is best sold at a contact or store.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Off-level recipes can, in some cases, move better than the 5's.

For example, a lvl33 Set IO recipe is useful for Siren's Call, since the zone auto-exemps/sk's to 30. Same with a lvl28 for Bloody Bay and a lvl41 for Warburg.

Now, granted that's only useful if the character plans on spending large amounts of time in those zones.

Find out what salvage is necessary for those level IOs and you'll profit pretty well.
  24. 'bout time...

How long have they been saying the 5th will return?
