My thoughts would be to go with a power set that would add some more debuffs, like the -To Hit in the Dark attacks or the -Rech in Ice or Psi, or -Def in Rad or the -Resist in Sonic.
For a controller, I'd look at the pets as well - I prefer Ice's Jack for the hold plus range and melee attacks, and the Dark pet for the heals and immobs and debuffing. If you want damage, fire would be the way to go. For overall mitigation, I like Earth for the mass knockdown from Earthquake...it's worked wonders against mobs, keeping them from attacking at all for a while. The stone pet is durable and does decent damage, but is as dumb as a box of rocks, and may well decide to just run off and aggro another mob instead of dealing with the one you're engaging.
If you're wanting Cold primary for a Def, and were it mine, I'd probably go Cold/Dark or Cold/Rad, or Ice/Cold or Fire/Cold for a 'troller if you wanted /Cold there.
But, really, all the sets have something to offer, and I think you could make them work just fine. -
The answer is that those other floating islands with the pools and waterfalls aren't there just for looks.

Take care of what you need to and what's most important - we'll keep a spot warm for ya!

Now I want Decapitating Kick for my scrapper....

While I appreciate the new Ocho TF where you join with Lusca to fight against the Coralax Megalodon invasion, I'm still hoping the devs find the time to give us a new look for Baby New Year.

I liked the female, male, and huge walking animations. Thanks to the animation team, BaBs!
I did /bug the backwards walk - not sure if it's a bug or the way it needs to work, but you spin and walk towards the camera, so you're not too aware of where you're going.
The stairs are a bit jittery, but I'm liking it a lot!!! -
Quote:With that kind of budget, there not much you can't get. I'd probably start off with the latest in motherboards
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD4P - Has support for SATA 6Gb/s and USB 3.0
Base all your other components on that.
CPU - Intel Core I7-860
Memory - A-Data 4GB (2x2GB)
Case - Antec Three Hundred
Power Supply - Antec TruePower 750 Watt
Graphics -EVGA GTX285 (for this game) or if you can find one, an ATI HD5870 for all other games. It should also be noted that the new expansion, City Of Heroes: Going Rogue apparently has resolved many, if not all, of the issues that CoX and ATI have had.
HDD1 - Seagate 320GB SATA 3.0Gb/s - This is your OS and game install drive.
HDD2 - Seagate 1.5TB SATA 3.0Gb/s - This is your storage drive.
Optical Drive - LG 22X DVD Burner
Speakers - Logitech Z-5500
Monitor - Hann-G 28" 1920x1200
Operating System - Microsoft Windows 7 x64
All totaled, we're looking at $2137.12 shipped (using the EVGA GTX285). There's still plenty of room in your budget to up-(or down-)grade. This is just a build I'd consider if I were buying.
-Wolf sends
With the I-7, wouldn't it be ebtter to get RAM in multiples of 3? So maybe get 6 instead of 4?
Heck, with that decent budget, I'd look at adding a SSD to run maybe the OS and this game.

Quote:Thanksgiving isn't a proper holiday. No-one outside North America celebrates it.

Obviously there should be a St Patricks Day event instead. Involving copious usage of the vomit animation.
Actually many other countries have what is essentially the same thing, but at different days. Fall harvest festivals of some sort are rather prolific.
I agree about the St. Pat's event - that would be cool to have in some fashion.
While we're tossig out ideas, maybe have the 5th of May trigger one of these? I know it's a Mexican thing, but many other places have taken it up informally as another excuse to drink.

Nah, it's the costumes. Always the costumes. Need more slots!!!
<leaves warm cookies and cold milk> <- that's the best! -

The event is cool, but only for Halloween. It's already getting tough to get teams for it - people are done with it for now on my main server.
Now if it were to be only a couple times a year outside that and maybe in one zone each side each time, I'd be for it. -

Quote:Make sure you're not logging the character in during one of the events for Halloween. I don't know if it effects the tabulation of credit, but I do know the icon doesn't appear if I happen to enter a location during an event.
I noticed this the other day and did a /bug report on it. I had some characters hit their 20+ day mark yesterday, and logged in to receive the daj job badge, so I'm hoping it's just a graphical side-effect. -
I'd like to work in a place where none of this is nsfw.

Nice job! -
All right - to your corners, and come out sketching!

Great video -thanks for sharing!
This will make me consider one for one of the hard drives on my new system. -
Quote:I for one got it immediately, and applaud your situational awareness.
Did you broadcast a warning for any noobs or lowbies in the area though? Or just sweep on by?
Ditto. Some people need to visit Croatoa more.
Also, Eek, if you're high enough level, they wouldn't aggro on you, so no worries. Unless your taunt aura is goin'.

Yep, still going. Look for us on Infinity Thursday nights. There's a chat channel that you can get in to, as well.
Edit: My global is @DarkEther ... if you can't find anyone on, beep me. -
I'm not in the game, so I can't look at the recipe and crafted prices, but I would look at sets that aren't top end that provide a Def bonus and/or a Recharge Time Reduction. Acc bonuses are another good one. Stuff like:
Crushing Impact
Recactive Armour
Serendipity
Scirocco's Dervish
Posi's Blast
Mako's Bite
LotG
Thunderstrike -
I could be mistaken, but I believe if you're on trial you need to buy a full version of the game. Those include a month of time, so the net cost is like $5. I'd recommend the Mac special edition so you get the mission teleporter and a costume set. The Architect Edition one unlocks one costume set of your choice between two previoue add-on packs, but doesn't have the teleporter.
You can use the Mac edition on non-Mac's. It's just the code for the goodies that will apply to your account. -
There needs to be some sort of happy medium here. On past events, it took a long time to get the vampires done. As it is now, zombies are the last ones I get, which were the most common previously.
For characters past a certain level this is usually not an issue. For lower levels and for squishier and many defender/controller types, there isn't the level of damage available yet, nor the HPs, to handle bosses, particularly ones that debuff and/or cannot be held/immobed.
On one of my lower level controllers I clicked one door, got two werewolves, and promptly got smacked, and hard. I fortunately had my Raptor pack already, so I could fly and keep on one enough with my vet powers to take it down. The other I had to drone before it could hit me with another boulder. If it had been the normal zombies and one werewolf I might have been okay, or at least had a chance. If it had been even one vampire (let alone Vamp Lord) or a Crone, I wouldn't have even managed what I did.
As it's getting late in the event, people are not wanting to do the banner event or the ToTing nearly as much, so teaming is much tougher.
I know why they extended the event, but the people on my normal server are pretty much done with it by now, it seems. The banner events, due to damage scaling issues, are not workable with one 50 and the rest lowbies, because the damage dealt is nearly negligible, except from Nem Staff, etc. Yesterday, all but one of these was a total failure: due to the lack of higher level people, the banners were never vulnerable.
Some thing to take into consideration for next time:
1. Damage scaling with SSK does not allow a lowbie to deal any reasonable damage on their pool powers, only on vet powers.
2. The longer an event goes on, the less people are interested in doing it later on in that event.
3. ToT door foe scaling and numbers or Lts and Bosses is too much for lower level characters, even when SSKed (see #1).
4. ToT Lts and Bosses with mezz powers or other special attacks versus a lowbie is no fight at all - it's a visit to the hospital ward they'll name after you for your frequent visits. -
