Has anyone else experienced this issue? I've recently gotten a new system, Win 7, 5870 vid card, 10.4 drivers, all up to date. CCC is set to defaults, which I think are to let the program control. In game settings are Ultra, generally maxed, but with AO off.
When I access the drop-down list for my badges, for example, and use the bar to scroll the list, the screen will periodically have brief jitters while I'm scrolling. When I close the list and am just flying around, everything looks good.
It's got me bumfuzzled (which is a technical term). -
Quote:Didn't see any posts on this yet, but I'm having a graphics crash issue where the game just freezes and the sound is stuck in a loop. Seems awfully odd because I'm trying it on my brand new laptop and it crashes after 45 minutes every time I play the game. My 4 year old rig with an older GEforce graphics card is handling the game fine, so I don't understand what is wrong with it on the laptop. Have checked the settings and have the most up to date drivers. Another weird thing it is doing is I can't see any profile images when I talk to a contact or look up info on another player. Anyone else having this issue?
I've had periodic sound loop freezes on my laptop for a while now. It's aggravating because I can't find any one thing in particular I was doing at the time, so I cannot narrow it down. I know it's a troublesome intermittent bug, though.
If yours is a regular occurrence, I'd check your drivers and make sure you're up to date - I've not heard about a regular looping freeze in a while now. -
Used to use AVG, but I use Avira and Avast now. All free.

Quote:I keep getting this message right after I enter my login information.
The game client was unable to connect to the login server. This may be due to a local network issue such as a firewall block, or may be because the login server is down for maintenance. Please check your network settings and try again, or check http://www.cityofheroes.com/servers/index.html for current server status.
RK,
I was on tonight in Pinnacle and elsewhere, so something in your router or firewall was updated or corrupted or something of the sort.
Edit: Just noticed you'd posted this a few other times, and started a new thread on it, to boot. Probably best if you put all your eggs in one basket, so to speak, so you're not getting the same things repeated over and over in various threads. -

I keep getting this message every time I try to log in.

Sounds to me like you need to set your firewall to allow connection to the updater and the CoH servers. Did you update/replace your firewall software or something of the sort? -

It's just what I wanted - no huge light show, no jet noise, no nothing.
It just kicks butt and stands there, like the monolith from 2001.
FYI, I have it setting on the side of the computer desk for the moment, just to the side of my monitor and keyboard/mouse, and all I hear is the game.
Oh, hey, CR - that ZoneAlarm deal is about to drive me to axing it. I keep telling it to allow stuff and remember the settings, and it's managed to pop up and stop the game from launching and such. It might be great, but I'm not sure I'm doing it all right.
Anyway, thanks again for your time and for putting it all together for me! -
Sorry, it's not time for this thread again.
Please wait until the full two weeks has passed since the previous merge thread and then make your post. -
This is madness!
Seriously, you've never had a pie with maple syrup used in it??
I think if I could I'd even slap a piece of cherry pie between two pancakes and smother the whole thing in butter and syrup ...mmm...piecakes...mmmm... -
Quote:Sounds good - I'll shoot you the inf once the email system gets stabilized. That's okay, I can wait until they make sure the Gleemail is working properly before you have to cough up the inf.
BTW, Black Pebble, we getting an official vid from you guys for the sixth anniversary? (It'd be especially neat if you included stuff from the Dev Q&A, like the Nemesis Horse, people getting turned into Televisions and High Rollers, and the Jade Spider killing everyone in Pocket D...)

Figures, the one time I had faith in marketing...<sigh> -
Just to eliminate a possibility, can any of you plug directly into the router with an ethernet cable, or are you on an external (to you) wireless provider?

I'm gonna be right there with you, albeit at 1920x1080, on my 5870, as soon as it gets done updating. And I tweak the settings. And I get the latest drivers. And I get more iced tea.

Got my new 'puter!
I had CR piece me one together so I can Ultra with the rest of you all. Just trying to get the game installed/updated atm - I copied all the pigg files over, but it still insists on fixing all of them. <sigh>
Anyhoo, probably be on the fast machine for our next foray into TFedness. I actually had it for the one last Saturday, but there was lightning moving in, so I didn't want to chance it with the new precious.
And thanks to CR for working with me on this. And cool background - looks familiar!

I remember the rescued citizens in AP wouldn't move along, so when you made a new character and entered AP you'd have a throng of citizens on the stairs welcoming you.

And yes, you can open an email while dead - we tried that to make sure.
Unless someone complained and they patched it away. -
