  2. Well, the email restriction was nice and all....until the institution of the ability to email stuff to someone. If you had the friends list restriction on and asked if someone could send you a wakie, for example, they couldn't unless they were on your friends list, if I'm understanding that correctly.

So the tool that's there to greatly restrict unwanted email is now hampered by a new feature.
  3. Looking very nice there, Wassy!
  4. I'm guessing that's why it's just a pair of boots, not colored, as opposed to a likeness of your character.
  5. I know the aliens in The Arrival (with Charlie Sheen) had legs with reverted knees and I believe they ran on their toes. The didn't know a ton of them moving around like that, but the locomotion looked a lot like an ostrich to me.

    I'm back!

    Welcome back, Tal!
  7. That wouldn't be a bad idea in principle. There are enough of us that are on the forums for a while every day, but there are likely issues with control and appearances of favoritism that might be too large a hurdle.

I suppose they could set up a number of "pink name" (not a red name, but not a white name either) accounts with limited abilities to mod, but I'm not sure what abilities the forum software give.

    New LJ Art

Nice inkies on the nice sketch!
  10. Congrats to Shia!

Well done to the rest of the gang also!

  12. 1. Get more mods.

    2. Make sure those Mods will mod.

    3. Success!

And I've decided that after I've PMed every red name I saw on last night about "that thread", and got a reply that it looked like a Mod had taken care of it, and then it still being here today....I'm going to keep that thread front and center, since they don't seem to be able to find it as easily as I can.

I'll also add that most spammers are like ninjas. They come out of nowhere, strike and disappear. This one showed all the subtlety of a circus clown, and the intellect of a can of soup. One or two messages might have flown under the radar for a while, half a dozen might have even gone unnoticed by most posters, but blowing your wad by starting a thread so obviously spam that Hormel tried to put it in a can, that's dumb on par with covering your body with chum and going swimming off the Great Barrier Reef.

It's the new pattern. This is the second one I've seen today doing exactly the same thing.
  14. Here's a great movie, in quick time: 52 second Clue.

The whole movie is great, too!
  15. I was tempted to get a shirt, but ended up going with just the hugger, water jug, mousepad things.

I wonder if you could do a Freem one, or of NCSoft trademarked that?
  16. There are some can huggers, mugs, mouse pads, and the like, too, so something for everyone, and every budget! (hint, hint)

I had to look up a few of the references to stir my memory, though...I'm getting too old to be hip...ow, my hip!

Something in the back of my brain stirs, and I remember a thread on Virtue's server section of the forums (I believe) that had a contest about that, for the CoH types. There was some great stuff, as I recall.

Might be an interesting idea here to get more folks involved who may have missed that, assuming you're talking about CoH. That lets everyone play, using the costume creator.

That worked fine! I scrolled down until the face was off the screen, and all I could see was the black stripes and the logo, and I think just that could do it...either way works, I think.

    That Iconic Look

But thats not to say I'm just hitting "Randomize" and taking it, either - I pick and choose, and hem & haw over it until I get something I like. I just don't tend to think "Will this be Iconic enough???"

    If that makes any sense

Makes sense...I don't normally plot out a costume before I get into the creator, trying to make "that look" that I could consider an iconic one. I tend more to make something that looks okay, and it may be a few costume slots later before I find something I stick with.

I know for the Dark Ether character, I don't think I have a single costume look now that I had as the character was levelling. I never was as satisfied with the look as being something other than just a current look. I think once I got the trenchcoat and started with that, that it started coming together, and I think that's the first look that I made that I still have.

Same thing for Tanks...I think all the costumes I have now are not the ones I made while levelling up - they're ones I've made since then, experimenting as various new options came out.

OTOH, I made the first look for Ms. Frost with the leather bits, and still have that. I think all I've done is lighten up the blue color in it somewhat, and add a cape. But I doubt one could do one of those little minimalist pieces with that and anyone would "get it". I mean, I got those from Suichiro right off.
  20. Hehe - gotta love the ragdoll physics! Nice screenies, Amy Jade!
  21. You should be okay - it's been done before.

Sorry to read about your mother...I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

I'll go check out the store and find something to help out whatever bit I can. Hopefully you have tall sizes.

Take care, and I hope everything turns out well!

Edit: I must have failed my geek cred - I didn't get some of those references. Still, neat stuff! The Spoilers pad is cool looking.

Edit 2: Great stuff - I can get the can huggers and cups and stuff, and know they won't shrink on me! Everyone please check this out - there's more than t-shirts, if you're not in to tees.

    That Iconic Look

The Minimalist art pieces got me thinking...

Do you all think of this as you create a costume/character, or do you combine stuff into a look, which only later becomes iconic?

I've pondered my characters, and I think I only have a few that really have an iconic look that would even be discernible in that format. I think I do more the latter...I try to put something together, but I don't really start out with a concept usually beyond colors and a few costume bits, and sometimes not even that much.

Oops...this was a sort of threadjack on a related notion...I'll post it separately.

    Mea culpa.

Move along, nothing to see here in this post...
