That's perfectly all right. Great work on this - I can tell you put some time into the costume pattern - it's not an easy one.
Looking forward to more!! -

I was thinking we name a bunch of our favorite artists and use them as our basis...

Nagel would be cool to see. -
Very nice work! I'd like to encourage you to do more - that looks good for the first in that long.

I would like the idea of tossing out a theme rather than a style. After all, an artists style is what it is. Maybe we can modify this to a theme or concept or a quote or something to inspire the piece.

But don't you already have that in the monthly fan art contest already? I was trying to get something that was not going to step on those toes.
And shouldn't artists be flexable?

The montly FanArt contest is something Juggertha came up with and has its own set of rules and such. -

Like the recent quote in the Scrapper section from a wonderful citizenwhen referencing a taunt power on a Scrapper: "I figure if the foes can't tell my Scrapper is their main threat, they're too stupid for me to care about." What would that lead to? Or just a word, like 'valiant'... what would that inspire?
The art would be in their styles, but inspired by the <whatever> was chosen. -
I'd like to start things off by nominating "The Pride" (link in the Fan Videos sticky thread here.
Also, Ex, can we sticky this thread so it'll be easy to find in the future, like the 'Art' one is in that section? -

Wow. I am completely humbled by the life this thread has generated, and all the awesome support everyone has. It makes all the long hours and late nights worth it, and drives me forward to jump into my next piece.
Thanks to you all for visiting this thread for a few moments, and enjoying the art presented.

It's sure worth it - that was obviously a huge amount of work.
I hope that this will cause people to take a look at the other stuff you've done with all your post-work. Those pieces should really blow people away, as well.
And when you all get done wiping up the drool from Doug's stuff, please take a look at the rest of the wonderful artists that hang out here. And please hang around - we have the best Comfy Chairs (tm) in the whole forum! -

Yeah, welll... YOU try sucking a lollipop with that helmet on....

You know, nothing I can post here came to mind when I read this... -
Sure does! This was a major undertaking, and carried out excellently.
I hope that the Scoop folks will put this in their next issue for sure. -
Better. I'd still go a shade or two lighter on both colors, if it were me.
And did I hear you right - blue makes you look fat? -
I wouldn't recommend going with black on black - try using a dark blue with accents on one of the colors on the right side in the lower half, for example, or one of the greys, etc. You'll be able to pick out more detail and it'll look better.

Here is a reference of some of the Vanguard pieces using a silver-grey with black.
Dark Ether - Vanguard
Didn't use any of the head pieces, cause I don't really care for them much, and I couldn't bear to cover up my mug. -
No, I was more thinking of some of the Samurai or Anime-looking stuff you get later on. What level? Some of the Vanguard pieces you can buy at RWZ look nice, and you can get just the pieces you want. Also, the stealth set has some good possibilities. Lemme grab a screenie of the Vanguard and Stealth "armored" Dark Ether...

Great deal indeed, I was tempted to commission but I'm saving up for that big Maidens of Flame commission still which I think I'll have Liz do to fully parallel the Ladies of Frost piece.

Ooh, I could dust off screenies of my fire/ice blaster then. J/K. -
I can see them fine. Sometimes the wrong version of the links are chosen from the ones they give you, and it causes issues viewing them.
Re: the costumes - what Vet rewards and other "extra" costume pieces? -

Wow! Four rednames so far - this one is bringing them outta the woodwork!!
And here I wasn't even sure most of them knew there was an art forum.
I'm hoping you can take on Tanks soon, as well!

It's like having a bunch of weird strangers roaming your neighborhood...

So it's like trick or treating on Halloween?
I'm hoping for just the treats, though. -
Oh my - a Dev visits Pinnacle server? I need to start wearing my clean costume, then.

Yeah, I jumped in there with both feet! It's a great deal.
Between these, Starchasm's, and several other DArtists I've commissioned, I think I'm gonna be broke for a bit. -

Wow! Great one!!
I love the guy on Luska's head - I had to back up and watch there again to make sure I wasn't imagining things. -
Wow!! That's awesome, DJ!
I love Vexi's stuff, too - I'm thinking about seeing if she'd do another one for me, too using one of her new packs.
