  1. There was also that one where Magneto rips out his adamantium skeleton too...
  2. Looking up a girl's skirt is reason enough for dying...not that I'd know anything about it, of course. :-p

I've yet to talk to an artist here or on DA who wasn't interested in talking about their work.

    Quoted for truth!!! QFT!!!
  4. Hmmm...well, a few questions first.

What style (anime/realism/comic/etc) are you going for?
What media (digital/traditional/B&W/etc) are you looking for?
    What's your price range?

As for payment, most of us artists tend to have a preference for Paypal, more or less because of its ease of use. As for payments, there's generally 2 methods - you can either send half upfront and half at completion or full at beginning.

As for searching for an artists...I'M AVAILABLE! Haha. Well, you can try the City of Artists like Kerse said (I'm not on it, though..boo!) or better yet, just hit up some of the veteran commissioners for info (TA, Buckey, Rowr, etc or just goto their gallery and see their list of hired artists)

And just for the record but I'll probably wind up starting a sale at the beginning of December (gotta finish my current 2 first).

It baffles me how many people request to have their characters beat to a pulp.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can sorta agree to that...but think about it this way...it's free art...unpleasant as it may seem but...it's still free. =p

    [/ QUOTE ]

True. No offense, but I still don't think I would request it, though. xD

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Ditto!

How hot would they look? Like Damsel in distress type of beat up, or completely had the sh*t kicked out of them beat up?

    [/ QUOTE ]

They'll be hanging on a stick, beaten up...like, nearly crucified. =p
  8. I'm doing this picture for a contest and was in need of a volunteer(s) to have their character(s) beaten and hung out to dry, literally...it must be a humanoid character (sorry, no robots/mecha/tech-armors and preferably male). Please post screenshots.

    Thanks!
  9. This is an exercise I used to do sometimes back in the days.

Get a black pen (preferably a pine point one as opposed to a ball-point), close your eyes and draw about 20 dots on random places on the paper. Then open your eyes and try to "connect the dots" and create a picture from it.
  10. Well, with the Xmas season coming up, might as well jump onto the bandwagon and draw Xmas-y stuff.
  11. I got a Canon LiDE 600F. I think it's the best (and coolest looking) thing in the world!

    It's fast, it's small...and it's so neato!

You can experiment anytime with TA LJ!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Man...I have to say...I miss drawing TA/AoT too...kinda ironic in a way considering how many times I've drawn them...but one of these days, I've gotta do a digital AoT (probably my favorite CoH char I've drawn to date)...I'll probably even resort to doing it free if I have to. LOL!
  15. Totally agree with Morgenstern. This pic looks good but some line weight will definitely enhance it dramatically. Line weight helps to create a sense of volume and definition.

and hey Daos, anytime you wanna write a how to paint metal tute, you just let me know!

    Hmm...which medium? Digital or traditional?

LOL @ the comment on metallics...

Me and you are like, TOTALLY opposite on this...I do metallics every chance I get while shying away from other stuff. IMHO, metallic/shiny stuff is the easiest...main rule of thumb for drawing metallic structure is basically, freakishly high amounts of contrast.
  18. Oooh, I found a great inking tutorial done by the great Jeremy Farlow!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLFqzSJcvfg
  19. Well, if you have any specific questions regarding inking, I'd be more than happy to help out....

Here's a few examples of my work that's inked in Photoshop just to give an example of where I'm at...not QUITE as good as Baquitania but I'd like to think I'm pretty decent too. =p

I also have the inks for a TA pic lying around somewhere but can't seem to find it right now...
  20. Well, you "deposit" them at a bank....they're just like a check. =)
  21. Oh btw...just wondering but what kind of style, media type (digital/traditional), and price range are you aiming for?

...I uhh just looked at Gabriel Seraph and he looked like he might be fun to draw........
  22. [ QUOTE ]

Taste and art style are factors as well. I could do it myself, but I'd still hire Alex Ross if I had major coin to drop. There's something kewl about other artists doing your character.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Agreed. David Ross would be awesome...I'd still vouch for David Finch though or Bryan Hitch though.

    coloring?

I highly suggest Painter...it's what I use the most...although, recently I've been trying to switch over to Photoshop. Painter isn't a bad program...although for comic-book style coloring, Photoshop is better.

It's not that noticeable though, but Photoshop gives cleaner results than Painter...although Painter is ALOT easier and user-friendly than Photoshop. It's sort of a tradeoff so you'll have to ask yourself which is more important.
  24. Dang...Paypal got hacked...man, that totally sucks. I use Paypal to pay for almost everything...so I can imagine how hard it must be. Can't you get it straightened out with the bank/credit card though...since they're kinda acting as a relay point?

    [ QUOTE ]
Just out of curiosity, what is the average commission these days?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Although I notice that it does vary on the artist, one thing seems to hold true...you get what you pay for...unless you catch an artist that JUST started doing it...in those cases, you can get some incredibly pieces for cheap as heck.
