I liked it too. It must of taken a long time to put together.
If you're looking for more material in the future, holler on the forums. I'm sure myself and other roleplayers will be only too happy to contribute. -

The Militia
Confusion and mystery still abound as the team looked further into the ‘Shadow’ creatures that had attacked citizens last week. Establishing that the creatures seemed to be attracted to objects that had come from other dimensions, their first target was to contact various collectors of other-worldly curios in case they were attacked. Most of them reported burglaries of some kind but one collector had already been killed by the Shadows whereas another, Robert Hemlock, set his security force on the Militia and fled.
As he ran, he taunted them, claiming that they would never save the ‘Isotopian’ world. A quick check revealed that he was referring to a dimension found by Portal Corps that despite being dangerously radioactive, was a paradise, inhabited by people unaffected by the radiation.
When they arrived, they found a world on the brink of collapse. Blackened, bleak and desolate, it was infested with the Shadows. Unable to stay long due to the radiation, the Militia were able to save five citizens in danger of being eaten by the Shadows and retrieve a journal detailing the coming of the creatures before they had to leave. As they prepared to go, Crimson Archer saw in the sky a huge ‘crack’ through which millions of the Shadow creatures were pouring. That was enough for the team to exit, immediately.
Within 12 minutes of returning home, contact was lost with the Isotopian world, never to be re-established. -
Hmmm.... very tempting.
As I already write little stories for my daughter's bedtime, this idea appeals although she's way below your prospective age range.
If I can find some inspiration, I'll PM you with some ideas. Let us know how it goes.
Good luck -

My Sonic/En has hers 6 slotted and at 50, going back to Atlas Park and punting Hellions to the other side of the map never gets old. Makes me giggle every time.
For me, Fearsome Stare. It's still so awesome to just walk up to a spawn and shout "FEAR ME!" as it goes off then sit and laugh while they cower. Mwa ha ha ha!!! -

We have EU overlords? I work next door to NCSoft EU and I barely see anyone go in and out of the offices these days. Hasn't been the same since the cull a few years ago. *sigh*
Still, I'd rather they made us all one community too and then we wouldn't have these crazy issues. -
AnnaMk2 listened to the replayed recordings and made her avatar shrug as if the media was proving her point. Even so she still turned her digitised face to Morpheus108.
"I don't condemn heroes for fighting back. I condemn them for acting with brutality. A hero acting as if they have the divine right to torture a prisoner, potentially a prisoner of war if we choose to go with that definition, will do more to undermine public support for heroes than losing this skirmish." -
AnnaMk2 popped a 'giggle' emote.
"Please, this is the internet. There's no such thing as truth here, only opinon. The legalities of this conflict are a side issue I'm sure. The fact remains that our city was attacked but the invaders repelled, taking out a dangerous 'hero' along the way. It seems like a win/win situation to me." -
The avatar of the user known only as 'AnnaMk2' is dressed in a red and white suit and has the appearance of a shy looking woman peering out from a mess of red hair. Although coy and meek in appearance, her user profile contains very little other than stating that she is a Paragon City resident and works in the medical profession. The only comment on her profile reads "Not for you!!!"
"I have to concur," she states. "An arms trader would clearly have a conflict of interests in this incursion. One can imagine them attempting to sell weaponry to the losing side, citing their poor defences as adequate reasons for purchasing new armaments."
She then fell silent, expecting to be talked down to. -

Quote:Well I have seen that too, most famously during a debate between my Illusion/Kin Controller and a Scrapper who had Stealth as to who could ghost a mission better. On the contrary, many people tend to attribute the actions of debuffers to their own awesomeness - this sometimes happens with buffers like Force Fields too. It's a case of people having blinders on and not knowing (usually, not caring) what anyone's powers do outside of their own. These are the sort of people who tend to believe adding more 'healers' is the solution to any encountered difficulty. A player who is looking for healers isn't going to value the contributions of a Dark because he won't understand them.
Fortunately, if I have ever met anyone with the kind of arrogance you describe on the EU servers, they have been mostly quiet about it. The one time I did feel slightly put out was when an Empath with Healing Aura on auto and following the Tank kept getting complimented for their healing. I took a quick AFK and came back to find the team dead. I didn't feel the need to say anything after that. -
Given that we know that the Praetorian AVs from the Portal Corps missions are getting a revamp (at least I think I'm remembering that correctly...) then it's entirely possible that they could be reworked in line with Going Rogue. Despite their tough AVs, the Praetorian arcs as they stand are fairly standard fair as they go. If they're getting a remake, they could easily be turned into huge, epic sized battles with characters who get established early on in the 1 - 20 levels of Praetoria.
However I tend to think there's even more to that than just a reworking of some end of game arcs. I suspect Coming Storm plot developments but then that could just be wishful thinking on my part. -
((*Casts Howling Twilight on the thread.* Time to bring this thread back to life methinks. It's hard to keep track of events in the Unionverse without a dedicated thread to post recaps in. Please ignore the thread's tendency to shuffle, moan and declare its desire to eat brains... I'm sure it will pass.))
The Militia
Responding to a report of Kings Row citizens being attacked by 'shadows', the Militia deployed to discover strange, dark beings chasing civillians around the streets. Although the creatures could be attacked, they also absorbed energy and rebuffed any attempts to scan them for information. As the attack spread throughout the area, the Militia were able to locate two objects, an urn and an obelisk that seemed to be motivating the shadows. Once reclaimed the attacks stopped for no apparent reason although it was too late to save two victims who had been reduced to nothing but bones by the Shadows.
Still recovering from their disturbing encounter, the team were relieved to respond to a request from Portal Corps to retrieve a probe sent to another dimension that had stopped working. Dealing easily with the werewolves that roamed that world, they found the probe, broken and in pieces only to be attacked by the mysterious shadows again.
Consulting with their allies in the Shades of Darkness, the team were able to establish that the Shadows were not magical but had been summoned by magical means. And although the objects they had retrieved were unusual, they all had one thing in common: they had come from other dimensions not out own. But the still the mystery continued, what are the Shadows and what do they want?
The Cadre
Conflict abounded as rivalries between members of the villainous group came to a head on Thursday. Deva, still recovering from her attempted suicide had to deal with the dual annoyances of Little Death and Lily Pink goading her while remaining furious at The Atavist, who was responsible for saving her life, much to her chagrin. Warplocke just about managed to keep order, mainly by ordering the team out of the Devil's Candy strip club (which doubles as the Cadre's base) and into battle against the Malta Group. Despite bruised bodies, nothing was as bruised as some people's egos once they emerged. -
I did the same (stubbing my toe) last year on my daughter's bouncy chair. It was such a lightweight, flimsy item I couldn't understand why I had to sit down because the room was spinning and I felt nauseous from ridiculous amounts of pain.
Three weeks after the injury, I finally went to the doctor to get it confirmed that I had broken it on a child's plaything. I couldn't bring myself to tell the truth to anyone about why I was limping so I said that it was a skiing injury. Sounded a lot more manly. -
Also consider that it's possible to go for Bare Hands and apply a pattern over the top of it that may fit the rest of the costume. I've done that numerous times where there aren't matching gloves or boots to match the costume.

A tough question. As someone that frequently makes missions for my RP group, I've come across this problem before. The real restriction is that if you want your boss to have dialogue, they have to be allocated as a mission goal. If you go with the idea of making it on a very small map, you may well find they still spawn separately and even then you're leaving yourself at the mercy of the random spawn points of the map.
The only alternative I can suggest is to resign yourself to having the captor and captive separate but have the captive only spawn when the boss is defeated. So you may not be able to have a situation where the boss is guarding the captive but you can have one where the boss is holding the keys for the captive's chains/knows where the captive is etc.
Sorry I can't be more help. -
I'm not familiar with CO (I didn't stay long enough to try Sorcery) so I won't try to cover that as others have done so better.
However, I would suggest that with the ability to colour powers, you don't have to stick to the 'theme' of that powerset. I recently made a demon character who is a Fire/Radiation Controller but by recolouring Radiation from bright green to dark red, I was able to make it a 'demonic aura' type power.
The powersets are just that, powersets. What you call them or use them as is entirely up to you. Feel free to add whatever RP elements you wish. I hope you enjoy the game and feel welcome here. Enjoy your stay.
P.S. My own Mage type characters are a Dark/Dark Defender and a Mind/Ice Dominator, both characters that are good at controlling the enemy - perfect for dark sorcerers. Hope that helps. -
My first 50 was a D3, my namesake and it was a hell of a ride. But what I learnt was this:
When it comes to being appreciated in a team, people notice big orange or green numbers. What they don't notice very often is not being hit, something which doesn't have any big flashing lights attached to it. People are very fast to say 'Nice Healing' but I don't think I've ever seen anyone say 'Nice Debuffing'. -
Regen by its very nature is 'squishy'. You have to be a little bit more cautious than the average Scrapper especially as it can't take 'Alpha' strikes like other armour sets. But like most powersets, once you get into the 20s, it becomes a lot more solid.
That said, it has distinct advantages over others. You never have to worry about the 'type' of damage coming in because you heal it straight back. You get a very nice God mode at level 28 and once you get to 38, you even have a power that helps mitigate the dreaded Alpha. I love regen (especially on my Claws/Regen), I think it's unique in being able to counter damage in an inventive way without relying on outside sources. But you'll just have to get used to not being able to dive into a spawn without thinking about it. Defence, Recharge and pulling are your friends. -
Mwah ha ha ha ha ha!!! Feel the awesome power that is FURY!!!
Yes, yes and yes. They really are that awesome. I used to be a Scrapper addict but these days if a set is available for Brutes, I roll with them instead. I remember when I rolled my first one and took to the streets of Mercy, looking for heads to crack open.
Twenty minutes later, everything was conning grey to me and I was grinning like a loon.
A tip you might like to consider is that the Brute's worst enemy is lack of endurance. You've made a wise choice with Willpower as it has good Endurance recovery.
No End = No Killing. No Killing = Less FURY!!!
-
I think a lot of the choice comes down to what you want from your Patron.
Mu gives respectable damage.
Soul debuffs accuracy (which helps if you've layered Defence ontop of Fire's resistance)
Scorpion allows knockdown.
Not sure about Leviathan.
Personally, I went Scorpion on my SS/Fire as I like to use Footstomp as often as possible and find the mitigation of knocking folks over very useful. However, if does have a long animation time which can get annoying.
