  1. And it's true. You really shouldn't pass the star.
  2. You'd probably have to be careful about custom Minions. The customized Bosses will probably put a strain on people's computers similar to that of player characters due to the customization, so a mission full of customized spawns could bring a lot of people's games to a crawl, just as if the mission were full of dozens of player characters (think Freedom Atlas Park).

Personally, I think getting the ability to customize Bosses and the like is plenty. And we almost didn't even get that much (but now we do-- yay!)
  3. It's a great guide, but TT: Leadership is way better than CT: Offensive. CT:O is giving you about 20% Accuracy when fully slotted (one DO's worth of Accuracy), while TT: Leadership is giving you 16% ToHit (ToHit is far more valuable than Accuracy), and giving it to your pets and teammates, too.

I went with Mace Beam on my build. The two powers (Mace Beam and Bash) are actually very equal overall if you factor in the advantages Mace beam has: range, more reliable secondary effect and smashing/energy damage (one of the most potent damage combos in the game). Bash is an equally good power however, it does a bit of Toxic and has slightly more damage overall. Having tried both powers fully slotted, I'd never want to be without Mace Beam again, but Bash is every bit as good a pick. My point though is people seem to think Bash is greatly superior to Mace Beam, but if you really compare the two they are very much on even footing, and Mace Beam is an equally valid pick.

And yes, Banes are getting compared to Night Widows all the time. But ask yourself: why is the Bane compared to Night Widows, while Crabs and Forts aren't? Crabs and Forts would also look bad in comparison to Night Widows' strong points! (NW damage is greatly superior to Forts, NW survivability and single target damage is greatly superior to Crabs, yet no one ever holds these facts against Forts and Crabs only against Banes. Who ever said Banes were supposed to equal Night Widows? It was an assumption made by some players based on nothing more than speculation and is really unfair to Banes. Banes bring their own strong points that the other VEATs don't: better single target damage than Crabs, better pets and mez than Night Widows, better single target damage and pets than Fortunatas. All VEATs can be compared in this way showing where each is superior. The bad rep Banes currently have is entirely unjustified!)

BTW Banes are the most Endurance-friendly of all the VEATs.
  4. If Arcanaville's anti-Defense idea got implemented, I might die of pure joy and delight. Very little chance of that, though.

I'd look for Aim and Buildup to be much less potent in PvP. After all, if I invest my entire secondary in gaining Defense, why should someone be able to overcome it 100% with only 2 powers? The answer of course is, they shouldn't. Aim and Buildup should improve your chances of hitting in PvP, but it shouldn't necessarily guarantee it.

And I can't believe the PPPs are going to be buffed. That's long overdue and beyond fantastic!
  5. That is one of the most charming pieces I've ever seen.
  6. Yep, no one will be using that to power level as it's giving only half XP.

And I love the multi-build feature. I don't care that you have to buy more enhancements, I expected that. I may even just go with pure Common IOs for PvE.
  7. Moving MA back to get it right was the right thing to do.

I'm happy that side-switching is nowhere in sight at least for the next 2 issues. I really hate the idea of having a revolving door, where your character wakes up and says, "I feel like being a villain today!" or "Being a villain was so this-morning! I want to be a hero again!" It's immersion breaking, it hurts the variety of game play we currently enjoy, and it's just a plain old bad idea which I am strongly against. And again, fortunately, when asked about it they didn't say "it's coming" they said, "we'll focus group it more and we'll see". Here's hoping it never happens.

Back on topic, multi-builds is a great new feature. I always build with an eye toward PvP, now I don't have to. I can build PvE and PvP specific builds and stop worrying about it. PvP is looking up in this game!

    City of Tribute

    Hey, those aren't Sentais!

Very well done. I never get tired of that Self Destruct animation. BABs outdid himself on that one.

    I give it: *****
  9. I was shocked to see a new episode in iTunes and came here just to say I'm shocked to have seen a new episode in iTunes. Funny how that works, isn't it?

P.S. TWiT sucks very badly this week. That show has been losing the plot recently, I may unsub. They should study the Jerks to see how a podcast is done (not audio lol).

I know what you're thinking. "Did she fire thirty-six shots or only thirty-five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a 9mm Uzi, the most powerful submachine gun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?
  11. It's a charming piece. I like it a lot.

My existing characters have the prompt on, because I turned it on for them. It's always been the case that when I create a new character, I have to manually turn that on. Been that way since day 1 for me.

[/ QUOTE ]If you click the "save options to file" button, you won't have to any more.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My point is the article says the prompt is on by default. As far as I can tell, it isn't.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
If you log into an existing character, switch characters and create a new one, it inherits all the settings of the previous character.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I didn't do that. Started the game, created the character (didn't log any existing one in first), and checked the settings. The prompt was off.

New Characters inherit settings from existing characters now.

  14. Yes, they either die, quit or move on to a different city/country. The medical teleporter is just like automobiles. Usually gets you to where you want to be, and is ubiquitous and reliable, but there are still thousands of accidents every day.
  15. The Teleport prompt is on by default?

*goes to check on a new character*

    LATER:

Nope, it's not on by default. The article either got that wrong, or something on my end is borked.
  16. Since my Fiery Scrapper is in the upper levels, I've been looking to get another Hero in my lineup. Scrappers are far and away my favorite Arch blueside (in fact, they are just about the only Arch blueside I can stomach) and Spines seems to offer a very different kind of Scrapper experience from any other set. That it PvPs well (for a Scrapper lol) is a side benefit.

Based on this fine guide, I'm going to roll Spines/WP and follow this build exactly (using the 26 and below build, then respeccing at 28 into your final build) and then probably put my own spin on it at 50 (should I find it necessary; I probably won't).

I'm usually an opponent of putting both Stamina and Quick Recovery onto a character, but given the AOE nature of Spines I think it's warranted (AOE is so very Endurance heavy; one reason I shy away from it usually. I'm a big fan of single target.)

P.S. I believe Resurgence has a +100% Recharge bonus as well. I'm a fan of self-rezes, so I may switch up a bit and take it, but I'll try the build as shown first.
  17. What costume creator are you using because mine's broken (apparently lol).

You've got what is perhaps the best collection of costumes I've ever seen.
  18. Are you god? Because based on your work, you must be god.

    Two thumbs up. Way up!

    Cyborg costumes!

When I think "cyborg", I think of Terminator and how Arnold had half of his face missing, showing the underlying endoskeleton. I thought that was the kind of thing they were aiming for with the cyborg costumes, but obviously I was mistaken. Don't get me wrong, they are good, but I don't look at that and think "cyborg".

I will say the HUD is all kinds of awesome. They outdid themselves with that one, as well as the self-destruct animation (with the caveat that jerkwads are already griefing the markets with that power).

BTW, your costumes there all look great. Especially #3.
  20. Well I liked it a lot. The cover is epic, and you really gotta feel for Stalkling. No wonder he wants a rename token! The costumes are very nicely done. Seeing Stalkling as a n00b and then as a Hero in his own right was very interesting.

The commentary on how the medical teleporter isn't a 100% thing was a great perspective on it. If you think about it, every time a character is deleted, you can think of that as that character having died. The medical teleporter fails, and fails on a daily basis.

I like that you have ads for other CoX comics, too. I wasn't even aware of cohcomics.com. It's a nice site.

All in all, issue 3 was definitely not the "barf" issue. And thanks for the shout out in the quotes section.

P.S. Sparky's screen caps were great. He got a fantastic shot of those missiles.

    Grats 8 Baller!

Donuts and Infinite Dark were my favorites to win, and it doesn't surprise me at all to see 8baller take the top spot. I thought the judges might have a strong preference for comedy based on the example movie they gave, but I'm really happy to see a serious piece take top spot. "It's time to turn on the lights!"

Donuts got an honorable mention at least, and it truly was one of the top 2 videos in this contest in my opinion. It was expertly created and fit the theme of the contest clearly showing the dark side of the main character.

Baby Toons is a bit of a head scratcher. There was no dark side to the character shown at all, and though the children were setup in the beginning, they had no payoff. Donuts was better. Way better.
  22. It's a great idea, and I think the reason it's not been done to this point is because it's a very, very tall order, depending on how you go about it. Do you want to show every powerset? Every power? Things like that.

Happily, Lord_Apollon is working on it, and it can be in no better hands. I can't wait to see what he comes up with!
  23. I wouldn't mind if Hurl was that big.

    And that's some great work!
