  1. Some of the voice overs I've heard on YouTube have me a bit concerned. Stiff and unnatural. Maybe those are just alpha build placeholders?

Don't they have Jeff Grubb as a writer? I'm impressed as heck with that, if true.

Guild Wars was a successful niche title and GW2 will be the same, though it has the additional unfortunate task of living in the shadow of that one glow stick game. Didn't GW account for 5% or so of NCSoft's revenue at its height? Might be misremembering that. Kind of telling that the industry hasn't embraced the B2P business model (Freemium seems to be the most effective approach with western players).

At any rate, game will be solid as heck but I'm not too impressed with a giant monster in the tutorial zone. Even this game will be doing that very soon.
  2. With the relaunch of the game I thought I'd make a fresh start for myself and dump all current leveling alts and move all but two 50s to a tertiary server (the two 50s will act as representatives of the "old guard" of Heroes/Villains. The Obi Wan Kenobis, if you will).

In addition to all that, my current main MA/SR Scrapper Daemodand will take a career ending injury in the Galaxy City Incident and live forever in the Galaxy City Echo in an unending loop of his early career when he first came to Paragon (reunited with the deceased love of his life Ms. Bush Ranger). His mantle to be taken up by his daughter when Staff Melee gets released. Staff/SR...mmmmmm. Um, what were we talking about? Oh, yes, what everyone is doing with their lineup of characters (if anything) when Freedom launches.

So the question will must be asked:

Who is going down with Galaxy City?
  3. Never ceases to amuse me how hard ghost town server people try to get people to roll on their ghost town servers in a desperate bid to gain some semblance of population. You want teams? You want to see another living soul? You know where to roll. Choose responsibly.
  4. Reroll to INV/SS, SD/SS or FA/SS.

A Scrapper doesn't even have to do that much. Just Confront the Guardians and kill them at leisure. It's the best, and maybe only, reason to take Confront on a Scrapper.

I wouldn't call making Stalkers into Scrapper clones a solution. Stalkers need to be their own Archetype. Hit Points aren't what's wrong with Stalkers. It's the lack of damage that is the problem.
  7. You want Ecto-Cooler green? Here it is!
  8. If you want ranged damage, crowd control and stealth, a Fortunata has all these things. You can even choose the amounts of each (especially # of ranged attacks and # of controls). Kill speed is a bit on the slow side (think Tankers, especially level 20 and below Tankers) but you will only faceplant if you play badly as your Defense and controls are a very potent combination for mitigation.

    Ma/sr

You're mistaken. SR is one of the best secondaries. Not top-tier, no, but beautifully balanced and elegantly simple in design. Few would argue that its not an absolute beast in late-game.

I have a fine sense of balance. When a set is just too weak or just too strong, I don't like it (Willpower (overpowered), Shield (overpowered) and Energy Aura (weak)...I'm looking at you!) SR is neigher too strong nor too weak. Like Invulnerability, it is very well balanced. If it has a bad reputation at all, it's only because of outliers like the aforementioned WP and Shield being allowed to steal one of SR's best tricks: 95% DDR (only Shield "steals" 95% DDR, not WP. WP is just straight up sick).

    Fix that bug, dern it!
  11. I deleted mine. Despite thematic awesomeness, the mechanics of both sets combine to make one of the more difficult to play Doms. This is Doms on hard mode. I'll take another run at Ice/Ice in the future, but for now I'm completely over it.

You were playing her all the way to 21 with basically nothing slotted? *sigh* TOs and DOs have value, people! USE THEM!
  12. This game is like a supermodel. Gorgeous but high maintenance, and totally worth putting up with.

Put me in the "do and complain about it" category. Sorry if I'd rather make my money by being a superhero in a superhero game, but the market is just so much faster it's very difficult to ignore. But yeah, I signed up to be a superhero not a commodities broker.

I don't see why these attacks shouldn't work like the attacks in the rest of the game. I can understand them being high damage, sure, but one shotting someone with capped resists? It really just feels like cheating.
Getting destroyed by BadBABs just because he chugged some beer really doesn't do anything for me as far as feeling powerful. I felt more powerful at level 1. I haven't touched the iTrials in a long time, and might never again.
  15. Two things bother me:

    1. They are using that sub-par artwork where Statesman is busting a bowel to beat down a minion. If this piece is to be the face of Freedom, it needs to be redone.

    2. There's no "1970" on their birth year list.

This might be an easy adjustment to make, then again it may prove to be such an ingrained idea for the vets that we don't shake it that quickly. Fact is though, come Freedom, blind invites will be the only way to roll for the majority of players. Free players won't be able to communicate with us and vice versa. It ceases to be 'rude' when it's the only option.
Good riddance to this very stupid piece of this game's culture. "You invited me to a team in a multiplayer game! How rude!" always struck me as very WTF. I do put teams together when the mood strikes, and this cultural quirk always made it much more work than it had to be. Just join the dern group, if you're not into what we're doing, just say so and part ways amicably. It isn't hard. With this aspect of the game's culture dead or curtailed, I just might put teams together more often rather than soloing so much.

Well if you don't want a challenge arc just make sure to tone your customs down to whatever level still grants 100%XP. And you're right, a single EB doesn't make it a challenge arc.

    X/Ice armor

I seem to be getting Placate crits just fine on KM/IA. What I notice is you lose the defensive aspect of Placate as the aura reaggros mobs pretty quickly.

I've been debating whether to keep the aura in my build. Don't know what I'd take instead that would be worth the trade, and I'd miss it. It's the keystone of the set. Been debating whether to keep Placate in my build as well, but the burst crit, and every other crit it provides, is just too good.

The combo of KM/IA with help from the Fighting Pool really took a lot of bite out of Miss Thistle's Knock Out Blow. Almost completely neutered it.

Overall, I've probably been having more fun on my Claws/Regen Brute, but I'm sorely temped to roll this as my main Villain when Freedom launches.
  19. There's nothing wrong with a challenge arc, if that's what you want. They just don't get a lot of good ratings, so it's up to you.

I wouldn't take Malta out. I think they're fine. I guess their unusual difficulty was a result of the room they were in as you mentioned.

The mission text for mission four explained Longbow's presence? Hmm. May have to go back and check it out again. I'm usually pretty good about reading mission text as I enjoy it a lot when it's well done.

Anyway, good luck and keep up the good work!
  20. Looks like I got approximately 3,400 tickets? Bah, I don't remember how many tickets I had before starting, but I don't think it was very many.

  22. Play notes:
*Completed on Daemodand, my 50+1 MA/SR/Body Scrapper (only Alpha slotted no other Incarnate abilities). Difficulty +1x8. No defeats.

*Morality. I like an arc to choose a morality and go with it full throttle. Neutral arcs I normally avoid. Most players like to feel villainous on their Villains and heroic on the Heroes. Neutral doesn't feed into that.

*Archvillains, EBs and Extreme Elite Bosses? There's a lot of players who wouldn't even look at your arc based on that (I'm normally one of them but I'm making an exception because I'm feeling helpful today).

*Mission intro text looks well written and sets up an interesting situation with the flame traps.

*The customs look good. It's questionable, given their background, if they should be this strong, though. Look at similar-background critters in the game (e.g. Infected).

*First mission outtro text has an error: "IGive me the camera".

*Second mission gave me a tough time in the final sewer room (I seemed to pull the entire room down on my head at once) but I survived. I like that I didn't have to take the hostage to the entrance. The Malta were tougher than usual; were those customs or am I paranoid?

*Third mission gave me a good scare in the last room as well fighting Longbow and Malta simultaneously, but I came through without defeat. My main Daemodand really is a solid performer these days.

*Final mission. Why are there multiple Dr. Jennings? And they have "This civilian is in over his head" as a description. Final fight was once again a scramble, but made it through undefeated. Why is Longbow involved? Arc didn't explain their involvement very well as far as I noticed.

*Gave 5 stars to start you on your way. These days I use 5 stars as a thumbs-up and 1 as a thumbs-down, no middle ground.
