Looking at the character builder, I can get both, the psi resistance and the regen by removing one rechredux from BU, increasing its recharge slightly... Which isnt that bad in PvE. I think the extra recharge was 5 seconds when hasten is up and 8 when it isnt. Making it recharge in 48 seconds without haste and in 35 with haste.
-
I really think invuln should only receive a slight boost to the passive resist powers. For scrappers they aren't worth anything (5.63% resistance to few damage pools at the cost of one power, who wants that, eh?) and for tankers slightly more useful (7.5%).
Just a slight boost to those and invuln is just fine against other things than S/L damage, too. -
Oh, forgot to mention which resistance it was
We're talking about psionic resistance here. Sacrificing that 3% would drop the resistance from 20.3% to 17.3%. And my regen would rise from 240% to 268% -
Hehe, I'm settled on taking aid self. It helps me reduce downtime between groups and helps mitigate damage done by any type of damage
Last question is, should I sacrifice 3% resistance to get 28% regen? -
:/ I expected some more replies on this..

I have one request I think should be quite simple to make Pious...
Recently I've got 1 more 50 so I'd like it if you could make the GIF avatar say 50 x6 instead of 5 -

Well, tbh currently I'm not using FA very frequently and I can hit very reliably with divine avalanche. The 40% acc buff is the same as having 1 lvl 50 acc IO in divine avalanche by default. I could hit them without FA or acc enhancements in DA so I'm keeping it this way. Besides, most of the time I'm not fighting high levels, whenever I solo I got the difficulty set on rugged at maximum, and when in teams I expect there to be enough -def or +acc going around that I dont need the acc there.
-
First of all I want to share with you what I concentrated on this build. I wanted to be as survivable as possible against as many types of damage I could (including psi). So I went for +rechg (to get perma dull pain), +recovery (no end, not much resistance), +acc (if I cant hit, I cant damage. And for a scrapper best defence is a good offence), +regen (to reduce downtime and to reduce the need to use aid self) and finally psionic resist and defence.
Feel free to give your opinions of this build but keep in mind it is for PvE

Yay! My guide is being liked
type Anyways, for the resist energies and elements part, I rated them low (elements 1 star, energies 2) because you can get much more useful powers instead of those two. For me, it was either those two passives or aid self... And 5-6% resistance to some not-that-common damage types isn't quite as good as medicine*. Though, that's just my opinion and they may differ
Even with the psionic resist set bonuses and all, I can qitoe easily put myself to around 15% resist and defence without those two passives.
I agree with the stuff about presence pool you put down. It was ok'ish for my MA/regen to level with (those fears really eat your endurance...)
Medicine pool part, I have near perma dull pain on my /invuln (think I'm at about 8 seconds downtime) and I mostly use it for the HP boost. Even with the significant recharge reduction, you can only use it about each two minutes. That's a 1.1k heal each two minutes which seems high - BUT I can heal 530something with aid self about each 10 seconds which is a lot better for healing than using dull pain.
Anyways though, dull pain is very good power whether you use it as a max HP booster or an emergency heal - and as such, it should never be skipped.
* Although, from a mathematical PoV the passives - yes you read right, the passives - should beceome superior in terms of damage mitigation the harder your opponent hits.
Statistics: Aid self - heals 536 damage each 10 seconds.
Passives: 5.63% resistance to toxic/fire/cold/nrg/neg. nrg
So, if my opponent damages me for over 10000 in 10 seconds, the passives become superior:
(10000 * 0.0563 = 563 damage) versus (536 heal).
Now, that's when the passives start overshooting aid self. Quite late, aye? Devs have been speaking about buffing up these passives a bit so more people would pick them. Right now, a pool power (one pool power) proves to be much more useful than two powerset powers!
In that kind of a situation you're going to go down no matter which of these powers you have, though... I just thought I'd put down some statistics on how useful those passives really are. -
Nice spot on the BU rating... :P now it's there. I'll go check your guide then

And my next respec build...

The guide
So, after playing a katana/invuln scrapper for over 2 years, trying all the different ancilliary
sets and most of the pool powers with this combo I've finally decided to write a guide. In
short, I'll tell you what powers I think are a must, what are nice to have and what you
dont need / shouldnt pick.
Guide:
1 - The powersets
2 - The powers
3 - Ancilliary pools
4 - Power pools
5 - The IO part
1 - The powersets
Katana
This powerset is one of my favourites in the world of CoX. One of the main reasons is
that the set is nicely rounded; fairly quick recharges, not that high end cost, good damage, a survivability increasing
power (YAY!), cool animations, def debuffs (not that good but useful nonetheless)
... And you get to be a ninja/samurai! Woot!
The cons of this powerset are that you only deal purely lethal damage which is resisted
throughout the game and even moreso in PvP. Also, you're limited to only melee attacks
while some of the other scrapper primaries have ranged attacks at their disposal (claws, spines).
Invulnerability
This powerset shares opinions. Most people think it's either good or bad but nothing inbetween.
I think this set is good, it offers a nice challenge (not being that good against everything)
and gives you high resistances to two of the most common damage types in the game (lethal, smashing).
You also get invincibility which offers a nice defence and tohit buff and with it, you can pseudo-tank
for teams (mostly small teams though, up to 6 people) that dont have a real tank. You also
get dull pain, a fantastic power which heals 91% of your HP when slotted with 3 heal SOs
and at the same time increases your maximum HP by 66%. Great power.
Now to the cons of this set. First off, you dont have that high resistance against elemental
damage (fire, cold, energy, neg. energy) as a scrapper (11% with unyielding slotted
with 3 resistance SOs but no passives and about 17% with the passives with 1 resist SO).
Second, you got no resistance against psionic damage which may prove to be a challenge
later on in the game (against carnies, Rularuu, psi Clockwork and the likes).
2 - The powers
[u]Katana[u]
Sting of the Wasp
Type: Click
When can you get it: Level 1
Effect: Melee, moderate damage (lethal), debuff Def (-7,5%)
Recharge and endurance cost: 5 seconds, 6.03 endurance
Description: Get this power, it's better than gambler's cut. This power does more damage and
is an important piece of your attack chain.
My slotting: 3x DMG, 1x ACC, 1x RECHG, 1x END
Rating: ****
Gambler's Cut
Type: Click
When can you get it: Level 1
Effect: Melee, minor damage (lethal), debuff Def (-7.5%)
Recharge and endurance cost: 3 seconds, 4.37 endurance
Description: This power is only useful in the lower levels and becomes quite useless
compared to Sting of the Wasp when you get SOs. Only use it at lower levels to fill
your attack chain.
My slotting: 3x DMG, 1x ACC
Rating: *
Flashing Steel
Type: Click
When can you get it: Level 2
Effect: Melee cone, moderate damage (lethal), debuff Def (-7.5%)
Recharge and endurance cost: 6 seconds, 6.03 endurance
Description: This power is great. Just great. It's the other one of your two real multitarget
attacks. Increases your DPS and DPE quite a lot when there's multiple opponents near you.
Not too shabby against single foes either.
My slotting: 3x DMG, 1x ACC, 1x RECHG, 1x END
Rating: ****
Build Up
Type: Click
When can you get it: Level 6
Effect: +20% ToHit, +100% DMG for 10 seconds.
Recharge and endurance cost: 90 seconds, 5.2 endurance.
Description: This is a power everyone should get. While not necessary for PvE, it's always
useful and sometimes even needed (against MoGed / eluded PPs, for instance). +100% damage
for 10 seconds is always nice.
My slotting: 3x RECHG (for PvP you should add ToHit as well)
Rating: ****
Divine Avalanche
Type: Click
When can you get it: Level 8
Recharge and endurance cost: 3 seconds, 4.37 endurance
Effect: Melee, minor damage (lethal), defense buff (self, melee and lethal, 15%)
Description: Now, with invulnerability as your secondary you dont only get high resistance
to lethal damage but high defence too! And being a scrapper, the melee def part of this power
is going to help you. A lot. Get it as soon as it's available and love it.
My slotting: 3x DEF, 2x ACC, 1x RECHG
Rating: *****
Calling the Wolf
Type: Click
When can you get it: Level 12
Effect: Ranged, taunt
Recharge and endurance cost: 3 seconds, 0 endurance
Description: Standard taunt, even if you are going to tank it isnt that needed. You
are going to get invincibility anyway. Dont get it, unless it's for concept reasons.
My slotting: 1x RANGE (for pulls)
Rating: *
The Lotus Drops
Type: Click
When can you get it: Level 18
Effect: PBAoE, moderate damage (lethal), debuff Def (-7.5%)
Recharge and endurance cost: 14 seconds, 13 endurance
Description: While the endurance and recharge may seem high, this power is excellent.
Hits everyone in melee range around you. Your only AoE, get it, slot it, love it.
My slotting: 3x DMG, 1x ACC, 1x END, 1x RECHG
Rating: ****
Soaring Dragon
Type: Click
When can you get it: Level 26
Effect: Melee, high damage (lethal), knockup, debuff Def (-7.5%)
Recharge and endurance cost: 9 seconds, 9.36 endurance
Description: This attack deals good damage, offers soft control and is a very important part
of your attack chain. Be sure not to miss it.
My slotting: 3x DMG, 1x ACC, 1x END, 1x RECHG
Rating: *****
Golden Dragonfly
Type: Click
When can you get it: Level 32
Effect: Melee cone (very narrow), extreme damage (lethal), knockback (the mag is so low that it's actually knockdown),
debuff Def (-7.5%)
Recharge and endurance cost: 12 seconds, 11.9 endurance
Description: Woot! Your most powerful attack and it has a soft control component! It can also
hit multiple targets! Nothing bad about this power except that it isnt up every other second :P
Get it, slot it, love it.
My slotting: 3x DMG, 1x ACC, 1x END, 1x RECHG
Rating: *****
[u]Invulnerability[u]
Resist Physical Damage
Type: Auto
When can you get it: Level 1
Effect: 5.63% Resistance (Smashing, Lethal)
Recharge and endurance cost: None
Description: You have to get this power... Not much to comment here. Not worth putting extra
slots in it. You can chuck a resistance SO or a unique IO in it.
My slotting: 1x RESIST (or a unique IO)
Rating: **
Temporary Invulnerability
Type: Toggle
When can you get it: Level 2
Effect: 22.5% Resistance (Smashing, Lethal)
Recharge and endurance cost: 2 seconds, 0.26 endurance/second
Description: This is a fantastic power, offers great resistance to smashing and lethal
damage when 3slotted with 3x resistance. Get it. It's a must.
My slotting: 3x RESIST, 1-2 END
Rating: ****
Dull Pain
Type: Click
When can you get it: Level 4
Effect: Heal 40%, +max HP 40% for 120 seconds.
Recharge and endurance cost: 360 seconds, 10.4 endurance
Description: This power owns. It increases you max HP to tanker HP levels and can be used
as an emergency heal. Nothing bad about it, except that it's hard to permaGet it.
My slotting: 3x RECHG, 3x HEAL
Rating: *****
Resist Elements
Type: Auto
When can you get it: Level 10
Effect: 5.63% Resistance (Fire, Cold, Toxic)
Recharge and endurance cost: None
Description: I didnt take this power in my current build and still don't think I should've.
This power isn't good, too low resistance to be worth it. I didn't take it, but hey, it's your
choice if you want it.
My slotting: 1x RESIST (or a unique IO)
Rating: *
Unyielding
Type: Toggle
When can you get it: Level 16
Effect: 3.75% Resistance (Smashing, Lethal), 7.5% Resistance (Fire, Cold, Toxic, Energy, Neg. Energy),
-4% Def (ALL), Status protection (mag 10, KB, Repel, Held, Immob, KUp, Stun, Sleep), KB -10000%
Recharge and endurance cost: 10 seconds, 0.26 endurance/second
Description: If you only were to take one power from invulnerability, this should be it.
Protects you from being mezzed and gives some resistance to nearly all damage. The
-DEF part was what put me off from this power and I didnt take it till I respec'd at lvl 36
and never looked back. This is THE power from invuln.
My slotting: 3x RESIST, 1-2 END
Rating: *****
Resist Energies
Type: Auto
When can you get it: Level 20
Effect: 5.63% Resistance (Energy, Neg. Energy)
Recharge and endurance cost: None
Description: I dont have this in my current build. Although, I may replace Focused Accuracy
with this power in my next build because my current set bonuses provide me with so much
acc that I dont really need Focused Accuracy.
My slotting: 1x RESIST (or a unique IO)
Rating: **
Invincibility
Type: Toggle
When can you get it: Level 28
Effect: 3.75% Defense + 1.125% per enemy up to 10 of them (all but psi), 2% ToHit + 1%
per enemy up to 10 of them
Recharge and endurance cost: 10 seconds, 0.21 endurance/second
Description: I love this power, it's a really nice tohit and defence boost for you and
often doesnt even break tanking if the tank has a taunt aura + taunt (which IMO, they should
have). About half of the /invuln scrappers I see don't have this. You should.
My slotting: 3x DEF, 1-2 END (and maybe Tohit/taunt if you feel like it. I didn't)
Rating: ****
Tough Hide
Type: Auto
When can you get it: Level 35
Effect: 3.75% Defense (all but psi)
Recharge and endurance cost: None
Description: I took this power at level 49. It's not necessary, but it's nice to overcome
the -DEF from unyielding. And to chuck a LotG: +rechg IO in it.
My slotting: 1x DEF (or a LotG: +rech / unique IO)
Rating: ***
Unstoppable
Type: Click
When can you get it: Level 38
Effect: 52.5% Resistance (all but psi), status protection (mag 17, repel, held, immob, stun,
sleep), (mag 100, KB, KUp), +100% end recovery. All that for 180 seconds. Drains all your
end and 90% of your HP when it drops, though.
Description: This is a power which I rate to be the best tier 9 power of the scrapper secondaries
along with elude (I have a lvl 50 /regen, /SR and /invuln). Most types of enemies
will only be able to scratch you when this is on. Lovely power.
My slotting: 3x RECHG, 1x RES (or if IOs, 2x RECHG, 1x RECHG/RES, 1x RES)
Rating: *****
That's it for the two main sets then. Now to power pools and ancilliary pools.
3 - Ancilliary pools
These pools I wont go power by power but give a general look over each of them.
Body Mastery
This power pool is what I rate to be the best out of the 3 scrapper ancilliaries. I got this
on each of my 3 lvl 50 scrappers. You get a nice tohit buff toggle (30%. 30%!),
conserve energy (-117% base end cost for 90 seconds), a single target ranged attack
and a cone ranged attack. Nice set, has pretty much everything you might need.
Weapon Mastery
If you have enough acc from set bonuses and you dont feel like you need conserve energy
get this. Web grenades and caltrops offer really nice control over your foes and you can
get the shurikens to pull enemies. Not that good set but IMO, it's better than dark mastery.
Darkness Mastery
I tried this pool only briefly and respec'd it out. It isnt that good really. The acc debuffs
arent good and require redraw. Tenebrous tentacles may look nice on paper, but it's
an annoying power. The hold is only mag 1 and as such, it's useless.
4 - Power pools
Concealment
Eh? You're an invuln scrapper! Not a SR or regen ninja! You're supposed to scrap, not backstab!
Fighting
I couldnt find space for this in my current build but it should help nicely if you can.
Boosts your smash/lethal resistance past the 70% mark which is nice. Not necessary, though.
Fitness
This power pool is a must for you. Just take it for stamina, 3slot stamina and you're fine.
You also get 1 or two nice movement boosting autopowers and health which has a minor boost
to your regeneration rate (40%).
Flight
If this is what you want for travel power, get it. I'd take hover instead of air superiority
because whenever you use air superiority, you need to redraw katana. Besides, hover is useful
for fights like Hami.
Leadership
You dont want more endurance draining toggles in your build. Your endurance is ok as it is.
I used to have assault but it ate all my endurance having it, FA and invuln toggles so I gave up on it.
Leaping
This is what I use as my travel power. Easy to use, quite fast and vertical travel. What's not to like?
If you're getting this, get combat jumping instead of jump kick. Combat jumping gives you
a minor (2%'ish) def buff, combat mobility and you can put a LotG: +rechg in it.
Acrobatics isnt needed for you.
Medicine
This is a set I like to have. Dull pain would be a nice heal but the recharge is quite long
so you arent able to use it always when it's needed. Aid self makes up for it. With 2x
interrupt reduction enhancements you're perfectly able to use it in combat.
I love this pool.
Presence
Not that needed... Really. Except if you plan to PvP. You dont want to make your opponents poop
in their pants. You want to scrap them!
Speed
Ohh, with this pool you get the almighty hasten! Not necessary but it's a really nice power to have.
Super speed is a nice travel power too. I picked this powerpool only for hasten.
Teleportation
I never liked this power pool. Too tricky to use for traveling and the prequisites arent useful
for a scrapper. If you like it, feel free to take it. Not my favourite, though.
5 - The IO part
This is a part of the guide I thought I should add after I posted the 4 previous parts... So here comes.
As an invuln scrapper you should focus on getting your max HP to as high as you can. This can be achieved in two ways.
[1]: Get loads of +max HP IO set bonuses
[2]: Get loads of +rechg IO set bonuses and have dull pain perma.
Having dull pain perma effectively raises your HP from 1600 (assuming you have all of the +max HP accolades) to 2400. this is nearly a 50% +max HP buff, and effectively raises your damage resistance to all damage types by 25%.
Other things you should focus on are +psi resist and recovery.
Sets that work well for this are crushing impact (quite cheap, too), doctored wounds, impervium armor, scirocco's dervish and luck of the gambler. I use those sets myself and they work well.
These are all just my opinions and they work for me. Hope they work for you too.
------------------------------------------
So, that's it then. My first ever guide so feel free to point out mistakes, spelling errors
(quite possible, I'm not a native English speaker) and other things like that.
Also, all other feedback and questions are welcome.
Thanks for reading!
-D
P.S, my current build and my next respec build will be included in the next post. -
Ok well... Looking at all the advice and my wallet I have come to this. What do you think?

Dark Embrace==> DmgRes(1) DmgRes(13) DmgRes(25) EndRdx(33) EndRdx(40) EndRdx(43)
Murky Cloud==> DmgRes(4) DmgRes(15) DmgRes(15) EndRdx(31) EndRdx(40) EndRdx(43)

You dont need that many end redux in those toggles... 1 should be enough tbh. If you really feel you need lots endredux put 2. 3 is overkill.
[ QUOTE ]
Follow Up==> Acc(8) Acc(11) Rechg(11) Rechg(13) Rechg(43)
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd add a tohit buff there...
[ QUOTE ]
Obsidian Shield==> EndRdx(10) EndRdx(25) EndRdx(37)
[/ QUOTE ]
I think this power needs 3 resistances for enemies like carnies and the likes. And again, all that endredux isnt necessary.
[ QUOTE ]
Dark Regeneration==> Acc(16) Acc(17) Rechg(17) Rechg(37) Rechg(37)
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd slot this 2x acc, 2x rechg, 2x endredux. This power eats a third of your endurance bar if you dont put any endurance reductions in it.
[ QUOTE ]
Cloak Of Darkness==> EndRdx(24) EndRdx(39) EndRdx(40)
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd remove one of those end reductions... 2 if you dont use it in combat.
[ QUOTE ]
Acrobatics==> EndRdx(28) EndRdx(34) EndRdx(42)
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd remove 1 of those end reduxes.
[ QUOTE ]
Soul Transfer==> Rechg(38) Rechg(39) Heal(39) Heal(46)
[/ QUOTE ]
You plan on dying a lot? If not 1 rechg is enough for this power.
Other than those, I think the build is fine. -
Looks quite good... But am I not supposed to have swift / hurdle 3 slotted?
-
Yeah quite sad that if you instantly dont get the best leveling build that's out there you give up on a game
Go play WoW, that's where you find people like yourself -
[ QUOTE ]
Ah, in this case, I have a few of my blaster builds around ... let's see...
[/ QUOTE ]
Ice/devs? AR/ice?
Oh well, back on topic then. Why would you want a build just to lvl as fast as you can? I mean, that sounds like n000000bie to me (no offence intended here).
If you're an ex-WoWer I gotta tell you a few things first: if you pick certain powersets you cant change them anymore. Ever. So you gotta stick with what you pick so it's best to ask yourself what do you want? Do you want AoE or single target damage? More control over your target or more damage?
EDIT:

0 replies? brilliant awswome community this game has glad i already gave up on it

Lol @ this.
Brilliant awesome player, glad you gave up on it so I dont have to play with people like you >.>
Seriously, you should have a little patience. In this game people might not want to reply to posts like that. "i wanna have a fast lvling build plz".
Any build can level fast in the appropriate team sizes and builds. -
Well, at least one problem is solved so far: the MA/regen is lvl 50. 'Yay!'
-
IMO an important part of playing a MM is the need to control your pets. That's what makes the MM special, the ability to control your pets. I found bots way too passive, more like a controller with out control powers.
The sets I regard as 'fun' for MMs are those that need the most control. Ninjas and zombies. What is the fun in playing an AT if you're practically missing the thing which makes the AT in question special? In this case the ability to control your pets.
None of the MM primaries are bad, it only depends on the player how they work and that's it. I dare to say that I could play a MM very well some months ago, which now isn't possible due to the fact that I abandoned the MM for months. The ninjas in my control worked as they should, I kept my eye on them to avoid getting extra aggro, and in the case that I got any I'd warn the team about it with a simple bind.
There... My 2 cents. -
Well currently I got quickness, sprint and swift all slotted for 2x runspeed IOs and it gives me a nice mobility. I also got hurdle and the speed doesnt seem bad at all. I'm also looking to put gift of the ancients: +7.5% runspeed on my passives and maybe on 2 of the toggles as well.
-
Well yes, for the maneuvers part I was told it's much more useful than assault. Mainly because you can put a LotG: +rechg in it.
I guess you're right about the tactics / SJ part and I'll swap them around.
The thing about the fear / tactics / cobra is that I can only fit a combo of 2 of those. To fit all of those would mean [1] no stamina [2] only one travel power.
And as it is, my primary doesnt have fear unlike DM.
Anyways, I want cobra for the stun because the animation is much much faster than eagle's. -
So how about this? I couldnt squeeze in cobra before lvl 30 and I doubt I'll be around that much in WB so this is the decision I did.
