  1. The only thing I'd like added to Regen is -Rech and -Regen resists. If only one of those, -Rech resist. A well played and built /Regen can survive insane things. I would probably like playing a Regen if I could stand the clickiness and redraw when paired with Katana which is the only set I'd like to pair it with.

WP on the other hand, it survives better when on "autopilot". When fit hits the shan there isn't much WP can do to help it because it's all toggles and autopowers outside SoW. Regen on the other hand excels in this kind of situations because it can push the limits of its survivability very high.
  2. I roll because I don't need influence. If I get unlucky and get complete trash, it doesn't really affect me in any way. If I get lucky and score 5x LotG +rech on each roll, I'll just be really happy.

I'm still debating whether I should start up a character and level it by doing TFs and tips only, though. I should have a nice stash of A and R merits when I hit 50, so I could probably outright buy a PvP 3% Def IO and even then have merits to roll.
  3. So, here's what I'm planning to pick power-wise until APPs. When I hit 41, I'll most likely respec out of Combustion and Incinerate and concentrate on ranged attacks instead. With all of my 3 AoEs working from range as well as controls, I don't really see a point in picking Incinerate as the only melee attack (I really don't like Combustion's long animation ). Slots I'll use as I see fit.

Going to use Ninja Run as travel mostly, only picked SJ because there was nothing else I would've taken. As for sets and what I'm going to do post 41? I'll start playing with a build that has loads of Rech and possibly some Ranged Def...

I relisted to sell for 22k each. I went to farm with my cousin for an hour. Went back to WW and they had all sold for anywhere from 30k-50k each and i made somewhere in the ballpark of 1mil inf on all of them.

Small number indeed. I make a ton more selling recipes, but its easy inf. Not really worth it for me to search thru for pieces to play with. Id rather play my toons and just sell drops. Though i can't complain because imma buy it nao guy usually but the stuff can be bought easily with time invested. Salvage wise, recipes are different due to drop rates and all.

My conclusion is that flipping isnt all that bad because people decide to pay more for getting it asap. But i still dont like the idea of buying up ALL of stuff in order to just raise the prices for everyone else. That to me says alot about someone. And i hope they arent like that in real life. That's all for now.
If you can clear a million in two hours flipping low-end salvage (buy at 2k, sell 30k+) with no previous experience of flipping, just think what you could do with certain recipes (buy at 5mil, sell at 20mil+).

That's why marketeering is so popular amongst those who discover it and don't mind using the market.

    Pricing oddity

As others have said, it's a valuable set for anyone chasing S/L def bonuses. What's better, the only thing you can slot in most +ToHit powers (BU, Aim, etc) for Defense is the 6 piece Gaussian for 1.25% against all types. If you're only going for S/L, you can only spend 2 extra slots on BU and get more S/L Defense doing that, too. On top of that a lvl 50 Rech IO and the ToHit/Rech from that set offer about as much Recharge enhancement as the whole Gaussian's set.

I used two of these sets on my Ice/MM Blaster to get her to soft cap (Perception + ToHit/Rech and ToHit + ToHit/Rech). Then again, I fished the ToHit/Rech's at odd levels and got both of them for 2.5mil a piece a week or two ago.

Most sets usually are most valuable at their highest level which might explain this one being most expensive at level 20. I've also noticed any IOs at levels divisible by 5 are also more expensive than others. I guess people just like to see those nice 5s and 0s when they look at their enhancements. I don't mind because it lets me get my pieces at lower prices!
  6. Sometimes IOs have that effect. Especially with characters that have been IO'd since I9. I really don't have a good picture of how they were before IOs were introduced. However, I play all of my characters to 50 using generic IOs from level 27, and only start dabbling in set IOs in the high 30s or low 40s, so I usually have a good idea how the sets perform without being excessively boosted through IOs.
  7. I thought I already replied to this...

Guide (with builds) in sig. Feel free to send me some inf for them if you want to!
  8. I'm 99.9% certain you can't. Because the US and EU operate off of different servers, you could have two accounts with the same global chat handle.
  9. As far as I know there is no way to do an off-market trade between a EU and a US player.
  10. /Signed.

There is pretty much no reason to use TAoE sets than Positron's or Ragnarok because the bonuses for Air Burst and Detonation are not useful for just about anything.

What I'd like to see is a set with stats like Thunderstrike (good Acc/End/Rech, ED capped Dam, but no procs) with approppriate bonuses like +regen and +HP and maybe +Dam.
  11. I guess you generally transfer 2billion or the PvP IO to a character on the server where the other person is, then you trade the 2billion for the PvP IO and then whatever else was promised to be paid. At worst, you'll get 2 billion for the 3% Def IO (200mil more than the highest possible from market), and if you're trading with an honest person you can get more than 3billion.
  12. I've only been on one CoP run so far and it was against the purple guy. We were unsuccesful despite having quite a bit of -regen, Shivans and nukes. I guess you can make it without the nukes, but I'd still like to see the purple guy toned down to a level where just about any team can do it without nukes.

    Sounds good to me.

  14. IMO: Sonic isn't that bad, it just isn't that good.

I have a level 50 Sonic 'fender, can't imagine it being any different on a Controller unless you solo much.
  15. Against a single position or against a pair of typed Defense, yep. Doing that could restrict the build somewhat, though.
  16. QR:

Instead of Touch of Death, use Kinetic Combat (2x the S/L Def) or if those are too expensive, use Smashing Haymaker + 2 frankenslots for similar S/L Def but better attack stats.

Same for Mako's swap for Kinetic Combat or Smashing Haymaker.

Swap Obliteration for a combination of 3 Eradication + 2 Scirocco or 3 Erad + 3 Cleaving Blow.

Only slot 4 pieces of Reactive Armor because the last two bonuses aren't very efficient for an /Inv. The 4 pieces should be Res, Res/End, Res/End/Rech and either Res/Rech or End.

If you aren't yet soft capped to S/L/E/NE, don't slot for F/C. That is to say, swap Aegis for Reactive Armor.

Other than that the build looks solid.

  18. So... Taking all the +50 Stamina boosts, you'd have a base recovery of 5 end/sec. Without IO boosts. Without Stamina. Without any buffs whatsoever. OP much?

    This.

With the default setup, the "minimize chat windows" arrow shaped button is right under the claim button causing it not to work.

Exactly as I thought, but different people benefit from different markets. A wildly fluctuating market is more pleasant for the person who is never in a hurry to get his items and knows what is a "realistically low" bid whereas a stable market benefits the people who treat the market as a store.

Basically, if I'm given a choice between making life hell for newbies and people who don't have the time or inclination to think about the market, or mildly inconveniencing a small number of people who don't care about the newbies and casuals... I'll take the latter.
Me, too, but appears many players think that a wildly fluctuating market would be more newbie friendly, which is something I frankly don't understand. If I had joined this game today, I'd be much happier if the markets were easy to understand (quite stable prices) so that I could easily tell the value of most items. How the heck should I be supposed to know which piece of salvage is valuable if the prices shift between 1 inf and 3mil on a constant basis? What if my salvage was full, should I delete some to make room for possibly more valuable salvage? If every single time I visited the market and the prices of the salvage were hovering between a 20k range (say, 50k-70k or 10-30k) I could easily tell which of them was more valuable or if they had no value at all.

    It's not "buyer" vs. "seller".
Certainly seems very much so. From what I've gathered, the anti-flippers think that the buyer gets screwed because of the flippers. If flippers didn't exist, they could get their stuff at a cheaper rate than what the flippers are willing to pay currently, provided they waited a few days at most. Then again, the seller would get screwed which seems to be something they don't mind at all.

Threads like this always remind me why I don't like economics in real life. People are stubborn and believe what they want, and because I don't have a degree in economics everything I tell them is non-sense, because their no-degree tells them the contrary. Then again, if I had a degree I'd be just another brainwashed citizen. Time to head back to maths land...
  22. Posting this before people start attacking me because of "believing marketeers are for the good of everyone".

    Quote:
    B) Flippers compete against, and thus "hurt", patient and intelligent buyers and sellers.
    Quote:
The people who are getting stuff for half its usual price are getting it by paying someone else less than that person would have gotten in a more stable market. They're hurting someone. The people who are selling stuff for twice its usual price are getting it by charging someone else more than that person would have gotten in a more stable market. They're hurting someone.
Let me say that I agree with both of these sentiments before moving on to some questions.

If both ways of marketing hurt someone, why is the other "better"? Why is it that hurting the buyer is worse than hurting the seller? Both are most likely the same person. The net effect is the same. Scenario A) patient buyer "rips off" a quick seller who gets so little influence out of his sale that he can't afford current prices for item X they otherwise could. Scenario B) flippers compete against the patient buyers who now can't afford item X for the price they otherwise could.

If the net effect is pretty much the same, why are flippers bad and patient/intelligent buyers good, when both take advantage of the same thing: patience and intelligence? Is it because you (general you) don't flip and you are a patient buyer, so the flippers are the "opposing force" = bad?

ETA: I believe flipping overall produces the better result by ensuring supply and a minimum value for items. Stable prices are easier for (new) players to understand and keep track of, even though they might look high. If your argument is that "but they perceive them too high and never come back to market", the same can happen without flippers, too. The player comes to a market and sees an item going for anywhere between 1 inf and 20mil in the last 5, he bids up to 5mil and doesn't get it and calls the thing broken because someone else got the item for 1 inf and he didn't get it for 5mil. Stable prices at least offer the player a way to know about how far they are from getting the item. I believe wildly fluctuating prices put the players who don't want to spend time learning the markets off even more than slightly elevated but stable prices. Oh, and that kind of players seem to be the majority judging from multiple threads where people are raining hate on the flippers' parade.
  23. ITT: it's pointless trying to teach people who aren't willing to learn.
