    Illusion/Cold

I did mean AoE damage specifically because Illusionists generally don't have access to multiple AoE attacks. Two long recharge AoE attacks hardly cause enough AoE damage that containment would make it spectacularily better. Sure, on a relative scale it's double the damage, but I don't really notice the difference in AoE damage between my Ice/Rad/Psi and Illu/Therm/Psi.
  2. WP vs Invuln is pretty much a flayed-to-the-bone horse. They're pretty much even sets, pick whichever seems more fun. Personally I like Invuln better because of the shiny graphics.

As for tank vs. brute, it's a question of defensiveness and offensiveness. Which one do you want more?

    Boxing vs Kick

    ^This.

If your build absolutely requires it, you can use Boxing as a mule for a Stun set (+Rech bonus with 5 slots), Kick as a mule for a KB set (very cheap +Rech bonus with 6 slots) or either as a mule for Kinetic Combat (3.75% S/L def for 4 slots). Even after slotting I wouldn't give them a slot in the powers tray, though.

I don't think containment is that big of a deal for an Illusionist because of PA and Phantasm. They deal most of the damage and don't benefit from it.

What is this madness? Price caps... NOT WORKING?!
  6. I think a price cap of 2 billion should be put into place so that no one can sell the PvP 3% IO for more than that.

    First 50?

I'll add my voice to those saying play whatever is fun. On top of that I think the character should also be fun when solo, teams aren't always available. I don't know your playing schedule or if you have to take short breaks often, so you might not want to disrupt teams if that's the situation.

Thanks for reminding me about Eradication. Didn't remember it had that 3.13% AoE as 6th bonus. Build is now soft capped with no real sacrifices, woop!

I use Mu Bolts instead of Chain Induction because with MB I can run a gapless single target chain and get better single target DPS than with Chain Induction and a gap. I really don't want to make the already anemic ST DPS any worse. Besides, I have to take Mu Bolts anyways.
  10. Here's my Cold/Sonic's current build. I haven't tried soloing anything harder than a Rikti pylon, but she can beat those easily.

  11. So despite the couple of other Elec/Shield topics I decided to create a new one for mine because none of the others seem to be looking for an I19 respec build.

The build I'm currently trying to improve is soft capped against Melee and AoE and just shy of the Ranged soft cap, but because I'm a bit OCD about stuff like that I want it soft capped, too. I'd like to get those last drops of Ranged Def without hurting my Regen, maxHP or Rech bonuses much. I also want to keep Aid Self in there, but with a good argument you can most probably convince me to drop it in favour of something else.

    Here's the build:

  12. I would, unless Captain KB was an idiot. If he proceeded to toss everything out my melee character's range or out of debuff patches, I'd probably quit mostly because I wouldn't feel useful.

Here's an answer I thought a friend who is very casual approves of.

If the casual player bothers to learn the secrets of the market, he can get phat lewts and the best gear even if he only has very little time to play. This means he can totally skip all the big team events he doesn't have the time for and still be able to get the same gear, it might just take a bit longer. In that other game, it is impossible to have the same gear as the HC players if you can't find the time to participate in end-game raids.

Even if they had the same price, both are functionally the same assuming you can slot them right now, and as you got them for free you wouldn't "lose" anything by selling either.

Not necessarily. Maybe what you said was composed in a way that it implied something you didn't mean. I do stuff like that all the time, I say something and people interpret it differently from what I had meant. It might even seem I clearly meant that, so there was no "need" to ask for clarification.

ETA: If you really wanted to get into the "accuracy of an expression" territory, you'd need to ask for clarification every time someone posted something to be absolutely sure.

So you're just getting uber loots only in order to have uber loots? I guess this is the problem, or at least a large part of it.

It may very well be that the devs didn't even intend the "best" (best is very difficult to design, but I'll just define it as best all around) builds to be those that were just crammed full of the rarest stuff. This is quite visible in purple sets alone where pretty much all of them have similar set bonuses. Why'd they do this? So that even the less hardcore players could get the "best" builds available for their powerset combinations.
  20. I like it.

It would really help with acquiring lower level IOs as well as take influence out of the system with no downsides.

I often use less expensive IOs just because I hate spending money, virtual or real. Best solution, IMO.

And if necessary, aren't there sites where you can purchase Influence?
Yes, but that's stupid for two reasons. 1) If you get caught, you get banned. 2) By buying influence from RMTers, you give your credit card details to a shady company that can do pretty much whatever they want with them.

Basically, you need to be a villain to get the badge. Once you have the badge, it stays with you even if you switch sides, and allows you to continue to respec into the powers.

I'm hoping that a new mission (and possibly some new patrons) will be added hero side so the switching will no longer be needed. The problem has nothing to do with the powers, it's that heroes can't do the mission.
Yeah, I wouldn't mind a "steal Arachnos tech/magic" type of story arc that would open PPPs without needing to switch sides.

I don't think those-who-lurk-under-bridges do even that much. They spend a few seconds reading well-written counter-arguments, realize they cannot refute the evidence posted, think about 5 seconds and decide the best rebuttal is not to respond at all. This tactic also makes them look smart because if they never post any responses, none of their counter-arguments are ever wrong!

    Max scrapper dps

I guess this is the thread you're looking for: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...ighlight=pylon

The lists of set combination and DPS are located somewhere in the last 10 pages of the thread, IIRC.
