Villain Side SF for the missing gaps.
New Villain zones
improvements to merit earning potential Redside. -
For Cities,I think CoH was designed using the Tank/Heal/DPS formula because of the Devs inexperience at the time. And while the game did a lot of things different, too much difference could be scary. Once they were more experienced we saw CoV where everyone was designed as a fighter/* or a */fighter.
As for why this general rule of damage dealing vs support exists, I believe it originally stemmed from balance considerations and then continued to be done that way because it was known to work.It then moved into the realm of being a traditional design.
Since you mentioned D&D ,I think 4E is pushing in the direction you want as all classes can deal damage and are all quite capable of other things. Yes classes still have thier roles, but with the right choices you can branch out into other areas. I think the problem of Tank/Heal/DPS is slowly being resolved. -
Quote:Of course, I have now generated a proof to explain how you could have two proofs. Does someone else want to come up with a second one so that we can have two proofs explaining how you can have two proofs?
In addition to mathematical proofs there are also logical proofs. While the two follow many of the same conventions a logical proof doesn't need to prove something valid, just logically sound. Generally this is used for statements and one sentence can contain multiple statements, requiring multiple proofs be used for that sentence.
We now have two proofs proving the existence of two proofs -
Quote:People were excited for Soldiers and Widows because it was something new for Villainside. When the VEATs were released CoV hadn't really had any content updates since I7.(To me, and a significant amount of Redsiders, RWZ and Cimerora didn't feel like Villain content.) People also thought we'd be getting a full and engaging storyline to go with those Veats which didn't happen.IF they're bland then giving players the option to have this person would maybe broaden there horizons, i mean im sure people were excited when they released i13 when you could be soldiers and Widows. Why not try it out?
Powersets are close but they can't replicate a few things
for one
The eagle jetpack.
The spec ops rifle
The Warden helmets
and other things.
Now then as for Longbow EAT powers wise just about everything they have can be replicated using current AT's. as for the Jetpack,Rifles and helemts, those could easily be made into unlockable costume items(except maybe the jetpack, but that's because of problems with back items in general.)
PPD on the other hand could easily provide a nice way for heroes to gain a branching EAT. At the same time you could make Nictus available to villains and then more people will be happy. -
This was very awesome Steelclaw, but now I'm wondering will we ever see the Back Alley Baby list. And if we do how many new chalk outlines will appear in Galaxy City?
OOo idea
List of things that would cause new chalk outlines in Galaxy.
and of course item #1
Back Alley Baby list. -
While I was never fond of DB especially on a Stalker I've heard lots of good things about it.
In regards to the no travel power, don't worry about that Lightning Reflexes+Sprint+Swift with some slots is about even in speed to fly so getting around won't be a problem for you at all.
As for this challenge, are you allowed to respec your build later on?
If so then I'd suggest picking up Ablating Strike in the beginning for the Sweep Combo (BU>Assassins>Ablating) remember the combos aren't target dependent and I've found Sweep useful the few times I've tried DB.
At 32 You'll get 1Kcuts which will change everything because you can use that as an opening move for massive AoE and plenty of crits. I also remember many Stalker players saying that for DB, the combos shouldn't be a priority (other than AV) so definitely stick through it and show your friend why Coh is a superior game to WoW. -

I fail to see how merging the markets equates to merging the zones. Could you clarify why you think that?
-
The biggest issue is availability.
In fact currently Villains are already paying more than heroes. The image on the previous page shows it. So if Villains already pay more than heroes we can't say that Villains don't have the money. Now I have no reason to disbelieve that overall heroes have more inf than villains(duh 2:1 population + 2 year headstart on existing), however the inf disparity can not shift drastically with the markets being separate. -
Dumb question but why wasn't your Jewish friend ordering from a kosher Pizza place?
to Silverage fan:
a White Pie, although that wouldn't help the Gluten intolerant friend. -
This may have been mentioned earlier in the thread but...
New Ways to complete missions!!!!! New Mission types!!!
Levantera's Arc was a good start(til you went and put Drones in it)
I Was like awesome a mission where they want me to stealth through it without drawing agro. Then I found drones in every spawn and I was like that's just great, you can't stealth past those!!!
Reichman in the Cuda SF was also a good effort but probably too much so. -
I know that Avilans were originally going to be the way to get wings. Then the Devs figured out how to make wings work as a costume piece, and removed Avilans entirely.
I believe with wings being used as a costume that there COULD be an interesting gameplay mechanic introduced by having wings that can actually be used in combat with powers incoproating wing based attacks.
This would be where Avilans could stand out, but they've been removed from the building. -
-
Well for the Kheldians, since it's a union of two beings the changes could be reflective of the hosts personality causing a change in how the energy of the Kheldian is manifested. The two eventually become one whole being so it makes sense that aspects of the host would become more apparent.
for PPP's it would simply be the Villain learning the power and working with it to make it their own. Another possibility(which I think many of the Rp'ers already use) is to simply ignore any inconveintly shoe-horned game explanations/mechanics that do not work well with the character they are creating. -
Quote:Seeing as there are no connections, channels or sg's involved inexperience with the redside game would have no bearing on Wes' ability to form a team. My conclusion is that the exception is being made because of the known population disparity.
WRONG! I have virtually no friends in game. And I haven't used any global chat channels in months. Haven't had any luck with SGs either, too much work.
I play in nothing but pick up groups, almost always have. So I KNOW what I'm talking about when I say anyone can get a team together -
I don't think people are giving the Avilans enough thought. Yes originally They were going to be the only way to get wings, then we got costume wings and Avilans were removed from the building.
But I would still like to see Avilans though. Why? Because the wings we have are costume bits. I would love to see wings(and flight) actually integrated into combat.
Yes we have wings, but they are vestigial. Even with the ability to fly the wings we have are just there. Why not have an AT that could actually use them in combat? -
Definitely an interesting proposal.
Although I would like to point out you've already made an exception for Redside.
Well if the proposed 10-15 minutes won't work Redside that would be indicative of a decline in Redside activity. A decline in activity means less players overall, less players overall can lead to game dying.
Not saying I believe that though. -
A conclusion we can draw from that though is for the items examined Villains are either paying more than heroes or the prices are fairly close.
Also for certain items a potential merged market is superior to the current
Look at the Crushing Impact
Hero Price 5 mil _________ Vil Price 3mil-6mil
Bids 27 ________________ Bids 0
For Sale 11_____________ For Sale 23
If these were combined there would be
27 Bids with 34 for sale
I think it's a fair guess that some of the villain ones are in the 3 mil price
these would probably be sold instantly to heroes bidding at the hero price of 5 mil. So we've just sent 5 mil from heroes to villains probably several times over.
This won't be true in all cases in fact several of the Io's shown would actually transfer inf from villains to heroes, however the Villains would be gaining Purples,Miracles and LOTG's -
I think it's a very good idea and would do a lot to improve the complaints about the Devices tier 9.
I would want the same treatment given to Corruptors /Traps and also to Defender Traps/. -
Not nearly as funny as the fact the Champions files have hogg as an extension. So with all the duplication Champions has done even the file extension is sort of a duplication.

The thing with Nemesis involvement is that people have become quite sick of him. Because most people don't want Nemesis involvement, and the information that we do have indicates no Nemesis involvement people are quite happy about a significant change in the games story, which we haven't really had since I10.
Because people don't want Nemesis plots they're not going to try and develop them.
Now then moving on.....
The promotional stuff we've seen for Praetoria has Emperor Cole's city looking really clean and shiny.Kind of like Brass. Who do we know that uses Brass? -
There is no Praetorian Nemesis, because Praetorian Blue Steel is actually an active member of Law Enforcement.
This same reason will be keeping our Nemesis at bay. -
Quote:Well the reason I said Powerboost was I wanted to avoid adding a passive, and Powerboost makes the most sense for an additional way to add +defActually, I think that would be an interesting passive power. Make it be power boost type effect but only for +def, so it increases the power of all of your defense boosting powers. Like defensive Quickness.
Of course, if that's not really Castle's preference, it could simply check for each of the other toggles and provide a defense boost to the defense type of that specific toggle. Re: If Deflection Shield is active, 5% +def(s/l); If Insulation Shield is active, 5% +def(f/c); If Absorption Shield is active, 5% +def(e/n); If Dispersion Bubble is active, 2.5% +def(all)
so Powerboost at 7 and this new knock towards power at 8? -
Quote:7. Field Stability(basically power boost but not permable I'm thinking 2 minute recharge,30 second duration assuming powerboost still works on defense)
1. Deflection Shield: toggle, .18 end/sec, 15% +def(s/l), +res(def debuff, tox)
2. Insulation Shield: toggle, .18 end/sec, 15% +def(f/c), +res(def debuff, slows)
3. Absorption Shield: toggle, .18 end/sec, 15% +def(e/n), +res(def debuff, end drain)
4. Dispersion Bubble: toggle, .21 end/sec, 15% +def(all) to allies only, +prot(hold, sleep, stun, immob, repel, knockback, knockup) only to self
5. Pulse Field: toggle, 2 sec cycle, .15 scalar smashing damage, 10% chance for mag 4 knock up
6. Guard: click, 60 second recharge, 8.75 sec duration, .67 sec animation time (.924 sec Arcanatime), 20% +def(all), 20% +res(all)
8. ???
9. Profit
