It's been that way since last night, I dunno what's up. Just be patient and you'll get on eventually (emphasis on eventually).

Hoping for a Red Name to enlighten us as to the goings-on of CB is a pipe dream at best I'm afraid. What happens in CB, stays in CB.

Quote:Repulsion field is better for teaming: it can save a squishy from being insta-gibbed by melee in a pinch. I don't blame you for dropping it though, it's situational at best.Hmm... OK, that actually does answer most of my questions.
On Repulsion Field: I understand that I'm supposed to use it like a click only in short bursts, but even then, it still costs a lot and doesn't really do much. Not much that Force Bubble can't, at any rate, and I've already managed to corner-pin a few spawns with the large bubble - something I've never managed with Repulsion Field. Keeping enemies away from me doesn't really seem like such a useful skill, particularly since I can turtle up in Personal Forcefield, call up Bodyguard, Hover straight up or, you know, turn on Force Bubble
I'm dropping Repulsion Field first chance I get. It just costs far too much for what it does. -
To quote Kheldarn:
Quote:As I said, I17's CB really hasn't gone much longer than the average Issue. Also, we should expect this particular Issue to take a bit longer because Ultra-Mode is a large addition in and of itself (plus an MM primary (among other things) which the devs have said are a pain in the *** to make). I can empathize though; it feels like it's taking an eternity to me too. DS Nao!OK, I'll use up my usefulness for next quarter now.

Unlike Closed Beta, Open Beta seems to last approximatly bacon days... o.o
Adding it all up and dividing by 8 yeilds an average of 25.125 days of Open Beta. -
Quote:It may feel like it's been a long Beta, but it's actually only gone a couple of days more than average (Avg= ~28 days, I17CB= 30 days thus far). Comparatively, CoV was in beta for much longer (almost three months).Ill be shocked outta my mind if they OB today and i mean shocked. Considering a red name said they arent quite ready but....they invited either loyalty people or 60+month vets not too long ago. I mean I know this is a beta to go down in CoX history books but damn its a long one.Someone already said the graphics overhaul and email system may be one of the reasons its such a long one. Which I completely understand but the CoV beta wasnt even this long was it?

I also just logged in and it's showing one of the Training Rooms as "Full-Queuing Players." Wonder what's going on today...

Ya I think you did something wrong. Make sure you copy all of the files in your CoH directory to your CoH Test directory. After that run the Updater and it will just download the latest Beta patch.
*Edit* Oh, I forgot people are having issues connecting and updating atm, that could be your problem. I think they're applying a new patch to the servers today, or they're just having some technical difficulties. -
Do you have dial-up, or a really old computer? It only took me a few minutes to update with a broadband connection.

Quoting Chad Gulzow-Man:
Quote:This worked like a charm for me.The super easy way to get the Test Server set up is to copy the City of Heroes launcher shortcut that you have on your desktop. (Rename the link something like "CoH Test Server" so you know which is which.) Right click on the copy, and select Properties. For the line where it lists the link to the program, encapsulate the whole thing in quotes and add -test to the end. It should look like this if you've installed it to your default location:
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CoHUpdater.exe" -test
Hit OK to accept the changes, then double click the shortcut. It will ask if you want to install the CoH test client, and let you pick where you want to install it to (default is "C:\Program Files\CoHTest\"). Let it begin the install, but when it begins to download things, immediately cancel out.
Navigate to your City of Heroes install directory (default "C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\") and hit Ctrl+A to select everything. Copy everything in the directory.
Navigate to your CoHTest install directory, and paste the contents of your CoH directory there.
Go back to your CoH Test Server shortcut and run it again. It will do a repair (takes no more than a few minutes) and then only download the updates beyond what is available on the live servers.
This will save you several hours and a lot of bandwidth.
(Just to make it extra-easy to differentiate between the two shortcuts at a glance, I also changed my CoH Test Server shortcut to have the City of Villains logo as an icon.)

For the last week if you tried to login to one test realm you would get the message that it hasn't gone public yet; if you logged onto the other it would tell you that you had the wrong version.
Last night a lot of people had trouble connecting to the Test Client. This morning *both* Training Rooms give you the message that they haven't gone public yet. Do you think that the Test Client was patched last night? If so, does that mean we'll be waiting longer than we thought for the OB? Does this confirm that one Room is being used for I17 CB and one is for GR F&F?
Personally, I'm not totally sure what this means (my guess is they finally patched that second server, but what were they using it for then?); feel free to speculate. -
Quote:I think you meant to quote the other guy, rather than yourself. May want to delete one of the posts and edit the otherIf it's the MM equivalent to Dual Pistols, I'll be very upset. You are one of the few that believes Dual Pistols to be impressive. Visually it's impressive, although sometimes overdone. But as far as gameplay is concerned, it's rather weak and underwhelming.
I hope Demon Summoning is not just a shiny, pretty set that isn't going to have much substance when it comes to numbers and playability.(Not that it's a big deal or anything, just kind of funny

I saw him using Ice Sword/Greater Ice Sword in one of the screenshots, so he is either melee or some sort of hybrid like the Oni.
http://goingrogue.na.cityofheroes.co...summoning.html
He's using it in the last screenie. -
I don't think she can login at all. It was my understanding that she's getting the "wrong username/password" message.
-
Quote:Ya, I would have preferred they just left it at the PAX demonstration; I think a lot of players (especially prepurchasers) are going to take the latest Going Rogue site reveal to imply that they will be able to play DS "soon" considering how close to "in April" it was shown, but maybe that's just me. I'm not sure how much more teasing I can take.Wouldn't it have been crueler (maybe not to you personally, but to players in general) to continue keeping us in the dark about a feature we already know is coming and haven't seen more than preliminary artwork for in the past?
Quote:Well if "a way" is the same as "not quite." I take the latter as being fairly soon, but the former as being much longer.
Either way we don't know until we know, and a little speculation isn't hurting anyone. I predict it will come one day after the day after... global warming. Which is supposed to happen two days before the day after tomorrow, according to southpark. -
Hmm, I'm not sure what the problem could be. Perhaps a poster more knowledgeable about such things than myself could fill you in. Failing that you should contact customer support.
*Edit* You can log into the actual game right? -
Are you saying that it won't let you login at all? It is still CB, but you should be able to login and try to get on the Test Servers (one will say it hasn't gone public yet, and other other will tell you you have the wrong version).
-
*Edit* I cross checked what was coming in I17 and GR, and it appears there is more coming with I17 than I thought. It still seems to me that there is less content coming in this Issue than most because of Ultra-Mode (and I'm sure DS is taking a huge amount of resources to put together and test as well, considering it is an MM primary), but I will concede that point. I still highly doubt it will take more than another week for I17 to hit OB. It would have been quite cruel to reveal such tantalizing information regarding DS this week if we still have several weeks before we (other than the privileged few) can test it out.
