((cheep rename of another joke topic i made ages ago))
Please hear me out!
Back Ally Brawler has been on a roll, each new update just more and more awesome. But no human being can handle all that awesome. We're reaching the point of critical mass people! Not even those fancy gloves will be able to hold back to Awesplosion and take it from me, none of you will survive a awesplosion.
FOR THE GOOD OF ALL OF US NERF The Brawler before it is too late!

Quote:completly agree, it really sad what became of Cryptic, banging out a new mmo ever 24 months has turned them into a MMO factory with low quality products...it's sad how the mighty have fallen...Just to compound the effect, here is an example as to why good artwork and honest labour always trumps any alarmist fears of genre. Seriously, I know we've strayed far from the original topic, but there's one thing we have to keep in mind in terms of where this discussion is taking us - almost any genre and filed of artwork, regardless of how many people may "hate" it, has the potential for greatness when given to a good artist.
For my money, I trust BABs, Jay and their minions to be good artists and bring this specific, seemingly minor addition into the game with flying colours and much inspiration, not just as one more amazing piece of the costume creator, but as a symbol that, no matter how odd or minor our desires may be, someone's listening, taking notes and trying to do a good job. BABs in particular has taken a lot of heat for refusing to do things that don't look good, but that's kind of what makes the game so great, in my opinion - everything we get is not just "there," it's good and worth the wait.
That, in fact, is why I'm still sticking with City of Heroes despite trying Champions Online. They may (or may not) have more variety of pieces, but their artists just aren't up to the task. Despite the game's (supposedly) superior graphics, their artists dropped the ball, and so the great graphics are left not amounting to much. Cel shaders and ambient occlusion do not good visuals make, not on their own, at the very least. You need talented artists to make use of this more complicated tool kit. I thing City of Heroes is one of the relatively few games that do.
Then again Jack is at the helm.... -

Quote:i added tigra and cheetah...so yeahmore erotic as in his FFXI web comic. Wink wink. Final Fantasy with epic humor and sex appeal, for the ladies and guys and the cat.
by the way has anyone started to read all the tags this has. It sums up all the furry hate and misconceptions quite nicely.
Oh I had to add my own sorry. It is the random one. -

Quote:in the book i'm currently writing the protagonist is turned into a were rat and basicly needs all sorts of magical items to beable to think normally...but still looks like a monsterby the way anthro does include "were" creatures. aslong as it is more of a shape changer or a mixture. not just stuff being slapped on.
But overall i dont like alot of the transformation furry stuff. But then all my werewolf toons dont shapechange much. there stuck in a half wolf/human state as such they would have to find ways to hide there animal side if people in the stories had trouble.
I have a D&D socerer who is a werewolf that is dragon desended. Oh and is andro.
and yes i have pictures

Quote:funny i had people call my renders "slipping into the Uncanny Valley" for a completly different reason (their so real i can't tell!)It's true, taking it too far slips into something called the 'Uncanny Valley', to get all film/animation technical on ya'll.
It's the reason we tend to see humanoid robots and things like zombies as freaky.
I even have a graph! *gasp*
Basically, certain styles of anthro can sit etiehr before or after the valley. They tend to have enough human traits and aspects that make people able to sympathise with them. The ones that people tend to find repulsive are, usually, the ones that have slipped into the valley. Either that, or the viewew is simply that intolerant that they label anything anthro/furry as evil and wish to burn it.
The first three pictures Lycanus linked are basically humans with animal parts stuck on. The shape is the same, its recognisable, and thus within peoples comfort zones.
Out of the second trio, the first and third I didnt like. For me, they've gone into valley territory. The second is less of a hybrid and doesnt suffer from that, because its not yet gone into the valley. If the face was a mix of human and animal (Like the third picture) it would probably come across as more unsettling.
See, there's even Science behind all this stuff!

Quote:Maybe Nala, 5 years later, can finally look like a red cat glowing in black pulsating mystic runes? One only hopes. The animal bits we have right now are old and intentionally ugly (monstrous, one might say). And as much as I like the Xtreme Overbite head or the Serious Claws feet, some more... Appealing pieces might be in order. The Dragon head is a good example, as despite being way monstrous, it does the monster thing with style, panache and a seriously toothy grin. A few less aggressive and more animalistic heads would be in order, as well as paw feet at the very least. We have cloven scaly feet, but we don't have any feet that match the family of animals that cats, dogs, rabbits and such belong to. We do have bovine hooves, but being able to put patterns on them would be nice, too. And being able to put patterns with skin on upper legs with hoofed feet, too.
Basically, if the tails are as good as people expect they will be, we'll see a lot of renewed interest in animal parts and characters. -

Quote:Meh it's not that great, a lot of power are dependent on others to get their best effectsThe only advantage CO has over CoX for me...is the ability to make a toon that can fire dual pistols, a fire ball, shield others, and shield itself! Basically, a free form power selection, that I can't have here (though hope they one day implement, or come closer too).
Basically CO will allow the Assault/Defense/Buff+Debuff Epic set I want for an AT here.
Other than that, I prefere CoX's game play, animation/art style, and basically CoX in general over CO.
Hell, for all the talk of CO having better costume creater, I found CO limited you just as much as CoX on costume items! "What do you mean I can't use these gloves with this costume option?! It doesn't make sense! I thought it was suppossed to be better!" was my CO experience. :P
"oh you want fireblast? Well you will need imolation and conflagration to get the best out of Fire Blast!"
but yeah i had the same idea, I even mad a suggestion about it!

Quote:I liked both, until the CO Devs tried to pass off a newzone with a lvl 37-40 mission arc in a game with already BARLY enough content to hit the level cap as a Paid expansion...i wasn't the only one and they hemoraged subscribers and made it free to try and save face but stepped in it again saying "but more paid content WILL come!"CO still has advantages over CoH. They just aren't advantages the general CoH forum users care for.
Like...different style of play!
And that will continue to be CO's selling point.
Some people also prefere CO's open world. Why people want to see CO crash and burn, doesn't make any sense. Don't like it, fine no problem. But others do enjoy playing CO. And the competition is good for both games.
Honestly if CoX were to remove the costume limit, the only thing keeping me on a priferaly with CO for Project Nine Thousand I'd never look back -
Quote:you use Furry and Marvel in the same sentence and thats the best you can come up with.Indeed. After rifling through your link, I found her name was Hepzibah and a bit of trivia on her, but I wanted to share another pic... This one:
Just to emphasise that, even sticking to the pure source material, comic books have not exactly shied away from sexualising anthropomorphic females. Even though in these case she's less anthropomorphic and more just a greenish woman with a tail.
I call your green chick and raise you Tigra (Marvel) and cheetah (DC)

Quote:I love you man....Animated tails are not capes. They're nearly identical to how we do wings, but a much simpler rig. (Not too much more expensive than a bow when you really get down to it.)
They've also been put on their own costume node and will now show up under "Lower Body". Which will mean you can do a Belt and a Tail (animated or static) on the same character. Unfortunately, that means the tails under the belt category are being flagged as legacy. So if you want to keep your current, non-animated tail, you'll still need to go in and select that costume part from the lower body the next time you edit your costume at the tailor.
now....animated hair?
