Yeah, I guess I phrased that badly. What I meant was, when I exited and went back to the contact he never had any options other than 'Start Mission.'

I could not find a way to autocomplete that mission when I was stuck in it. At that point, the only option the contact seemed to have for me was "Start Mission."

To the OP, I had to petition twice on my recent jaunt through Praetoria (once in that mission and once for the final mission), and in both cases was helped within 10 - 15 minutes. If you are not even getting an automated email response, then I suspect, as somebody else said, that your petitions are somehow not making it into the support system. Which I know is not a very helpful answer, unfortunately. Perhaps you will need to open a support case via the website.

I'm sure you must be very frustrated. Best of luck getting it resolved.
  4. Well, it's good to know I'm not alone. Perhaps I'll experiment with using the mouse to select. Thanks to all who replied for your feedback!
  5. I have the numbers 1 - 8 on my numeric keypad bound to select team members 1 -8. Playing my sonic/pain corr, I got very used to looking at the numbers on the team list, and then just hitting that number, when I wanted to get to a teammate fast or use a power on them. Now, I can no longer see the numbers on the team list. I've tried both new and legacy interfaces; finally settled on 'new' as I do think it's pretty, and I wasn't able to see the numbers in the 'not really legacy' interface any better.

I'm finding this change is really slowing me down though. I just don't seem to be able to make the mental correlation quickly enough to figure out that that dropping health or end bar belongs to the 1...2...3...4th person on the list. Okay...so maybe this is a problem with my brain and not the interface, I'll admit that. But I'm wondering if any of you other healer/buffer types have had to change the way you work in response to the interface change. And also, do you happen to have any tips for me, i.e. do you use the mouse to select your teammate? Is there some other trick I'm not privy to? Thanks for any feedback you have to offer.

  6. Wow, I don't now how I missed this for so long. Fantastic!

  8. I don't have an actual obsession, but when I look at my relatively small roster of characters, the pattern that emerges for me is "weapons." I have a dual blades brute, a war mace brute, a claws stalker and a broadsword stalker. I may be creating a new scrapper or stalker who, purely for concept reasons, will also be broadsword, and I love the set enough that I won't mind playing it again.

I suppose claws is not necessarily a 'weapon' set in the same sense that the sword and mace sets are, but I view it as one on that particular character.

I so get that. I started the game as a committed melee player, as might be obvious from my love of weaponry, and I also solo a lot. But as far as teaming goes, I'm probably going to bring my Ice/Dark corruptor or my Sonic/Pain corruptor. And I do call the /pain my "healer" but that's largely a concept thing; he's really doing so much more than that.

I haven't run any of them yet but I wonder if the situations in those tips just don't lend themselves to a rogue solution instead of heroic one without being too villainous. I consider a lot of the rogue missions in the Isles to be pretty heroic, the line is very thin with the only real difference being the way it is presented as an opportunity for gain vs something altruistic. And what about the morality mission? Do you go back to the Isles to get that or get something different in Paragon and what sort of mission would it be?

There is also the fact that no one who actually lives in Paragon would gain anything by joining a team where you were running Rogue tips since heroes can't go that direction. It would fill up their fame without gaining them any progress.

As much as I'd love this to happen I can certainly understand why it wasn't done and why I suggested some contacts that give similar missions outside the tip-system.

Regarding the morality missions, I think I was just assuming that (to use rogue/hero as an example), you would get a mission drop based on the points you've accumulated, i.e. you either confirm as a rogue or switch to hero. There could be some obvious problem with that that I'm overlooking.

And regarding your suggestion about contacts, yeah, I would also like to see some facility implemented that allows us to take contacts on the 'other' side. Wouldn't have to be new; opening up a few existing contents would be fine with me, if there are any that would make sense for.

Just to be clear, though, I'm not complaining. These are things I'd love to see happen, but overall, I am thoroughly enjoying the new system.

Was it Castle that made EA strong and pretty? I already said he'd be missed, but now I have to reiterate it. My stalkers will miss you, Castle!

Completely agree. I very much hope to see that implemented.

Couldn't agree more. In my highly subjective and entirely personal opinion, Cooling's arc and the previous 'mirror' arcs, especially Dean MacArthur's and Leonard's, qualify as awesome. In fact, I don't think our new intro arc to the Incarnate system compares at all well.

If you trust the source of the program (and I assume you do as we're talking about the Mids folks) and don't mind allowing a program to always run as Administrator, I found that you can work around the problem by right clicking on the shortcut you're using, or on MHDLoader.exe, and selecting the Compatibility tab. There's an option at the bottom to "Run this program as an administrator." After that, you'll get a little confirmation box when you run the program; click "Yes" and it will open and run just fine.

EDIT: Oops, forgot to add a word of thanks to the Mids developers. I love this program so much now; tweaking my characters builds in Mids has become its own little mini-game to me.

  15. I do it fairly frequently, often because I love SuperSpeed in missions but loathe it as a travel power. And I'm addicted to Hasten, so I often already have the prereq (I don't have the 'travel power at level 6' vet perk yet). I can't argue with the idea that characters I do this on would probably be slightly stronger with a different power choice, but I enjoy them; I guess it suits my playstyle.

Only once, however, have I ever given a character 4 powers from travel pools at the lower levels, and that was because he had very special conceptual requirements. And yeah, it definitely gimped him in the low levels. But he still blew through those levels pretty quickly and now that he's in his 20's it's all starting to even out.

I second this. It's amazing how little you actually get attacked when all the enemies are quaking in fear, encased in ice, or trying desperately to escape your tar patch/ice storm.

Regarding some of the OPs other questions, I never felt the need for Hasten, but of course, ymmv.

I skipped Petrifying Gaze, so just have the two ice holds and Fearsome Stare, which seems to be plenty, especially after you get Dark Servant. Bitter Freeze Ray does have a really long cast time, so I could see an argument that it would be more efficient to take something else, but I like the ability to stack it with Freeze Ray on hard targets. Personal Quirk maybe, but I just find it gratifying to see that boss encased in ice throughout the fight.

For other pools, I like Assault and Tactics on her, and love Power Sink and Charged Armor from the Mu Mastery pool.

Hope you enjoy your Ice/Dark as much as I have mine.
  18. Just to throw my $.02 onto the pile, I adore my Ice/Dark corruptor. She mostly duo'd her way to 50, but I have played her on larger teams, and I now solo her quite a bit. She's great at crowd control and as Steeple alluded to, there are few opponents she can't lock down with stacked holds. She had end problems in the early game, but none for many levels now. I strongly encourage you to try it. Great fun.

    BS/ and /EA

I recently created one too. I am heartened by the positive responses in this thread. Mine's still a baby so don't know how she'll mature yet, but the sets seem quite fun at low levels. And /EA is pretty. Got to be Strong and Pretty.
  20. Wonderful thread. I'm greatly enjoying it. And you've inspired me to treat my new stalker as a bit of a project, which I'm finding to be a lot fun. I'm taking tips on marketing from this thread (as well as the Market & Inventions forum, and the very helpful people I play with), and am planning out some goals for her to hit as she progresses (as opposed to the..shall we say..."free-form way" I usually approach the game). Thanks for taking the time to post all this. Looking forward to seeing Fara hit her goals.

That would be Venture saying that easily. Which is crazy since you can just as easily RP it the other way by saying you are calling in a favor from one of your alts for something thus the transfer of inf.
I actually do like my characters to "stand on their own two feet" unless there is an IC reason they'd be receiving inf from other characters. Hard to see it as a cause for complaint, though. It's easy enough to just refrain from clicking the email button if I don't want to, but it's nice that the option is there, when I do want to.

Not really relevant, but I like this note in your sig. I recently spent almost my character's inf on a recipe for a proc I really wanted. Then I noticed he had some merits and decided, just for kicks, to try a couple of rare recipe rolls. He got two recipes and sold them for 80 mil (combined). Small beans to some, but quite the thrill for me.

Makes trying to buy and build a few common a frustation I'd rather not bother with. Taken with all the other crap you pull on me it just makes purchasing anything so frustrating.
I could not agree with you more. I can deal with the fact that clicking on the field titles on the left no longer actually restricts my search to that category. I can deal with having to constantly uncheck Autocomplete, and with automatically filled in bid fields, and with the items I bid on dropping to the bottom of the new vertical layout, and with the fields that pop open when you click them but can't be toggled closed again. But the having to repeat the same action over and over and over again until it 'takes' is what makes me want to put my fist through the screen. And it happens constantly. When I post something, when I try to get something, pretty much every time I try to interact with an object in the market.

This is the one thing that is most likely to make me stop engaging in parts of the game that I have come to greatly enjoy, the marketing and crafting. For the first time, last night, I started thinking about giving up on my plans to IO out one of my main characters, give up on the rest of his crafting badges, and just go with vendoring and SOs. And yes, I realize that's no great tragedy, even within the context of the game; he'll do just fine with SOs. And it may not happen anyway; perhaps upcoming patches will clear this problem up. I'm simply expressing my frustration that this part of the game that was once so enjoyable to me, personally, has now become something distinctly not fun.

And also, if anybody reading this is one of the people whose game used to crash when they opened the market window, I truly am glad that that issue is now resolved for you (or so I hear). I suppose I just wish that problem could have been resolved without introducing so many new ones.

But it's not an aesthetics issue; it's a usability issue. While people in the thread have expressed the opinion that new interface is ugly, I don't think (without going back over the whole thread), that is has been the primary focus of anybody's complaint. Most of the complaints, including my own, are primarily related to the degraded user experience, as well as the possibility that there are lingering bugs. Enough people have posted to this thread about having the wrong items put up for sale that it makes me afraid to put up anything really valuable, at least until I've waited to see if a new patch is forthcoming.

On to another subject, though. Has anybody else noticed an issue with a bid delay, that can result in your bid just being cancelled? Let's say I bid 500 each for a stack of 5 Temporal Analyzers. I've noticed that I need to watch my bidding ( or ALL ) tab. If I immediately see it switch to "bidding 2500 inf" then I'm fine. But if it says something like "bidding 0 inf(2500)" I've noticed that after a few seconds, it will just go away, and I have to place the bid again.

Oh, so glad to learn it's not just me. Ran into that last night. I realized I had accidentally bid on several enhancements when I was sure I had selected "Recipes" then typed in my search parameters. Granted it wouldn't have been any great tragedy, had they filled, but still ... let's just say, it came as a surprise.
