You had better luck than me, Dechs. Two of my four runs were bugged. I think it's a fun little event when it works though; just hope they get that kink ironed out (and also the issue with not being able to put the enhancements on the AH). I like the rewards too. That proc is actually something I'm willing to 'farm' for, if I need to, which doesn't happen often.

Perfect! Just what I was looking for. Thank you very much.

I've looked through the preferences in the User CP but have not found a way to do these things, so am hoping the forum community can help.
1. Is there a way to change my username on the forums? Not a big deal, but I'd prefer it to match my new in-game global.
2. Is there way to indicate that, by default, I do not want to be emailed about updates to threads that I post in?
Thanks, in advance, for any help or advice. -
Quote:You're right. I added a note to the discussion page on the wiki.If they get downgraded to Bosses based on those settings then several of the missions must have them hardcoded as EB's. Since the missions don't follow the No Bosses setting for the Minotaur's and Cyclops, I don't see why it would on that one specific Keres in that mission.
-
Quote:I've only ever seen Keres as EBs in every mission they appear, including that one. Maybe they get downgraded if you have 'no bosses' set, but I didn't think EBs ever did that (hence, the several mentions of them in this thread). He spawns with the Keres (ParagonWiki claims she spawns as a Boss, but I thought I'd seen her spawn as an EB) and several Minotaurs and Cyclops Bosses in a tight clump.

Quote:Couple of minor quibbles with your breakdown. The "loathe" and "want" errors may be spelling errors. They would have been correct as "are loath to owe" and "are wont to do."
In a noble quest to accommodate the benefit of the doubt, I researched the word "loathe" to see if it could be used as an adjective and if, through some fluke of interpretation, this sentence might actually be grammatically correct. Nope.
And honestly, what must have been there before this easy-to-proofread mistake occurred? "The Spirit Stalkers are uncomfortable owing anyone anything"? Given the flow of the sentence, I can't place where that "are" came from.
...
You mean as they are meant to do? Or maybe as they are wanting to do, which doesn't make a lot of sense but is grammatically correct? "They are want"? What the crap? How do you do that even by accident? I am loathe to see such a pathetic error get published.
EDIT: Rats! Beaten to the punch not once, but twice. And edited again to correct my own grammar. Oh, the irony.

Quote:Completely agree. RWZ was my favorite zone since the first time I played through it and I still do the arcs on almost all my characters, unless it really, really wouldn't fit them. But I am now just as much in love with DA. I think they did a great job with both the zone and the missions. For a long time my favorite zone was the Rikti War Zone. It was really their first concentration of new interesting content. The storylines were interesting and epic, the villain was classic City of Heroes fare, it had an alternate currency mechanic, and the Vanguard were surprising nasty.
Other things I really like...
- Pretty much all the new low and mid-level content that has come out since GR, particularly redside. Loved the most recent two arcs.
- Side-switching
- Super-sidekicking/exemping. Love being able to play with my friends no matter what level our characters are, without any of the old hassles (like getting suddenly whalloped if I got too far from my mentor; I still have an amusing memory of that one.

Quote:I agree the bug is making an enormous difference. The two trials I was on last night were like night and day compared to my first couple of attempts. With the league size limited (one run with 15 and one with 18) and with no pets for the last battle, it was easy. I was at +9 for most of the fight, and I assume the rest of the league was as well. The bug is making a more significant difference than many people were acknowledging. I imagine that the cries of "Tyrant is too hard! I will never run this again!" will cease entirely upon the correction being applied.
Quote:Why would you take someone who has their entire primary removed.
Would you take a blaster that has no ranged attacks?
MM's secondary is quite a bit weaker than a controller or a corruptor.
Im not trying to be mean but an MM now is more a liability than an asset, good play cant overcome this kind of disadvantage, im not saying it cant be overcome, but you are essentially pity slotting them.
Sure, I suppose a league composed mostly of MMs who couldn't use pets in the last battle would have a problem (until the bug is fixed), but how often are you going to see that? I never have. -
That was hysterical. Nicely done, Arcanaville. And congrats, Laz. Gloating looks good on you. Well...you know, on your character. :-)

Well, as others have said, what's fun for me will not be necessarily fun for you. But since you ask, my favorite character for both solo and team play is my Ice/Dark corruptor. I love that she has so many tools at her disposal to keep a mob on the ropes while she cuts them down. And as Bill alluded to the scourge is glorious.
I love all my characters, so it's hard to limit myself to a short list, but I'll throw in an honorable mention for my Illusion/Storm controller. Also great on teams or solo, although on teams you'll need to try to control your chaos a little. Cons are his endurance drain, and the fact that he's pretty fragile if he does come under fire, but the fun he brings more than makes up for that.
What both these characters have in common is they have a lot of tricks up their sleeve, and they both require me to be a little bit on my toes. They allow me to play aggressively, so long as I'm making good use of positioning and picking the right targets. If you like that playstyle, you might give them a try. -
Haven't done it blueside yet but did redside last night and quite enjoyed it. Like others in the thread, I half-expect that we'll be turned on in the end, but only half. I'm holding out hope that it won't happen. I absolutely loved the tie-in to a particular NPC that I remember fondly from lower-level arcs.

Thanks so much for posting this! Excellent info. I am curious about the fix for item #2, regarding pets. Are pets intended to be affected by the level shifts, thus, post-fix, will we see all league members and their pets getting the shift?

In terms of IC grudges, my RP main, Thomas Harper and his 'brother' Amairgin both have a deep-rooted loathing for Carnival of Shadows and Circle of Thorns, for story reasons that are too long to go into. I was pretty happy to be able to give Thomas Carnies as Lore pets though; that really messed him up, the first time those manifested.
My Praetorians feel pretty strongly about Devouring Earth (no surprise there), but now that one of them has been living on Striga, she's also developed a healthy disrespect for the Council.
As for just 'loving to fight,' Amairgin (Illusion/Storm) loves to fight the Pantheon in DA. Ravagers are his new favorite pet. -

Quote:I'm with you on that.Honestly, just have it start filling in from DA once you have the bottom slots unlocked. I don't understand what the problem is with that.
Regarding the trial itself, I've only done it twice so far, and both attempts failed. I just found the Tyrant fight tedious (although I always do my best to contribute, despite my personal feelings about the activity). I suppose it would be marginally less tedious if we'd succeeded, solely by virtue of the fact that it would have been over faster. But I'm becoming more and more ambivalent about Hybrid and the future Incarnate powers anyway. Currently, I have far and away the most fun on my Incarnates while playing them solo. But frankly, I'm just not sure how much more powerful I need them to be. Will doing X to obtain Y increase my enjoyment by a factor that was "worth X?" At this point, it's not seeming that way to me, when we only have this one trial to stand in for X. That will certainly change though, when I can earn Y through an activity that I enjoy doing for its own sake, thus making the entire experience, the 'earning' and the 'getting', enjoyable. -
Not sure I follow what could be considered cheating about it? Is it because it can be used to level up a lowbie very fast?

Oddly, on the rare occasions I do PUG, I'm the team leader more often than not. I say 'oddly' because I'm not in any way a social or outgoing person. I don't think I've ever typed 'lft' in this game, although I do occasionally join things when I see them forming, or more frequently, respond to somebody's request for help. But once in a while I want to get something done, like a TF, so I'll put out a call. So far I've been really lucky, on Virtue; most people have been pleasant and helpful, or at the very least, quiet.
I've definitely seen the behavior Forbin describes though, and pretty frequently. I do find leading, and sometimes even just grouping, draining, so I understand a reluctance to do it. And I really don't see anything wrong with somebody not wanting to be the leader. What I have a more diffcult time understanding, though, is why you'd then waste your time waiting around for somebody else to do it for you. If I weren't feeling up to leading the effort, I'd go do something else.
* Note that's a generic "you." Not directed at any particular poster in this thread. -
I have an EM/SR brute and I do enjoy playing her, but I find her far, far more enjoyable solo or duo, than on a full team. On a team, the corpse blasting gets very old and I find myself more or less just using Barrage and Energy Punch and sometimes Whirling Hands.
Regarding Energy Transfer, I recently respec'd her out of it, and took the lower tier attack I'd skipped (can't remember which one it was). I find it much more beneficial to be spamming attacks; almost never found ET worth the long animation or the self-damage, even against a hard target.
While I wouldn't complain if its overall damage got boosted, these are the changes I'd really like to see:
* Cut the animation times way down, particularly on Total Focus
* Expand the radius of Whirling Hands.
* I'd like to see Energy Transfer become more relevant; it is the T9 after all. Currently the Extreme damage against a single target is not, IMO, sufficient to warrant the self-damage or the long animation. Perhaps, as somebody else in the thread suggested, it should become a cone or AoE, making it more of a "melee nuke." Combined with the changes to Whirling Hands and Total Focus, you'd then have a set with several decent ST attacks and two good AoE attacks.
* Either make Stun AoE or add an additional utility to it such as -DEF (Because it's hard to be dodgy when you're stunned) or life/end suck ala Life Siphon or Dark Consumption ( You drain some of your foe's energy and transfer it to yourself ). -

Quote:I'm hard-pressed to understand why you'd find the Rogue Isles any less coherent than Paragon City. As a collection of islands, yes using ferries and where available, helicopters, to travel makes perfect sense. There is a map of how the Isles are laid out, just as there is of the City zones; it's not like they're free-floating rocks wandering around the Atlantic. IMO, the islands are at least as thematically connected with each other as any of the zones in Paragon City. That is of course, just my opinion and yours obviously differs. Is anyone else of two minds on the whole portal system?
One of the things I like about Paragon City is that it has placement. Perez Park is South of Steel Canyon, which is south of Boom Town. Atlas is West of Perez. The zones flow. All the zones make up the city.
The Rogue Isles are just some random places connected by boat in the least convenient way possible. There's no structure, and all you have to remember is that you have to go to the boats to get anywhere. This is one major reason why I dislike redside so much.
As to the new tunnel system, I'm all for getting from one place to another as easily as possible. My only slight worry is that the tunnels might use the same effect as the Shadowed Paths in First Ward (granted I haven't checked this out on beta). That's only because entering one of the Shadowed Paths can come dangerously close to triggering my motion sickness, but I can usually tolerate it. -
Quote:Funny, I just did that arc again recently. And yeah, the only reason it wasn't mind-numbingly tedious is because almost anything is fun on my Illusion/Storm. And I used Giovanna Scaldi to test my first AV solo, so that was a kick. :-)Came here to say this.
Harvey Maylor's interminable arc about the Bands of Shu and so on is also incredibly tedious.
One of the projects on my list is to clean out all the high level blueside contacts that I have piled up on the Ill/Storm and my EM/SR brute, so I anticipate experiencing quite a bit of "vintage" content, like Unai Kemen's missions. Haven't done any of them in ages. -
Scroll of Tielekku
For some reason it's one of the few arc names I remember, even though I haven't done most of the blueside content since my first (maybe 2nd) time through. Maybe I'll do it again with my new hero, unless he too falls the dark side. -
Quote:Ah, okay. I did understand the system correctly then. Thought I had missed something. Thanks for the answer, Chad.Steele misspoke. The repeatable consumables are Tier 9.
The unlockable, cycling costume sets are Tier 9 VIP, the top tier of the tree.
You have to fill all the way up through Tier 8 in order to get any of the Tier 9 or Tier 9 VIP stuff, sorry. There's no repeatable stuff below that.
