This needs to be sorted, allowing uploaded images and not allowing manual img tags in signature blocks.

Quote:A text search would search through all of the text in the forums and a moderator would have to trawl through posts as well as signatures plus links in text sigs don't necessarily have to have apparent descriptors in either and would require someone clicking on it and then reporting it. Plus posting an image is hard evidence for the mods in aid of punishment rather than claims of a "mislink" or quick and easy editable wording.Counterargument would be that you can theoretically just do a word search for uncensored words that routinely come up in an offensive context, such as schoolyard level insults. Unless everyone posting a potentially offensive (and I myself really don't worry about offensive per se, I'm rather dulled thanks to the internet) picture names it 'offensive_picture_of_genitalia.jpg' or so.
A picture requires you to wait until a player reports it unless you stumble across it in the pursuit of your regular reading.
Another issue might be that, as they say, you can't unsee things. Descriptions of offensive things unfold and you have the option of not continuing to read unless you're as curious as I am. But stumbling across tubgirl is just that and it's done. Which some can shrug off, while others might have a less robust stomach.
Still arguing for or against is a futile task, each has it's pros and cons. I'm waiting to see the unbiased reaction of a Mod to the issue. -
That is strange. Was checking myself, all my posts transferred from the old boards have my new sig attached. Perhaps just a forum glitch, pretty busy at the moment.
-
Try refreshing or refreshing after clearing your browser cache, I didn't have this problem when updating my sig.

Quote:All my posts reflect my current choice in signature rather than the signature they were posted with. I would say that simply refreshing the desired page would solve the issue of previous pages sigs being uncurrent.Bill, IIRC vBulletin actually saves the Sig with the post. If you edit your Sig later on, pre-edit posts will retain the old Sig and post-edit ones will receive the new Sig. Unless you do what you did. I actually like this feature because often signatures also represent their times.

Actually I believe they would require less or no more policing than text signatures. Imo, an image is easier and quicker to see in it's entirety than making sure that the content of a text based signature plus any links with it is appropriate for the forums.

I guess they couldn't differentiate AE gained XP from Non AE gained XP

Quote:Just manually type the [img ] [ /img] tags and place your link inside.I was rather looking forward to it.
Anyway, http://pages.suddenlink.net/dmweb/billz.jpg is it. Simple. Small. Only 500X75 and 13KB. Gives me invalid URL when I attempt to use it.
Also in case anyone forgets, the boards have a specific maximum size, anyone posting with an oversize image can get reported. It would be easier to moderate if images could only be uploaded in the specific sized or less rather than linked.
ASCII text images better than graphical, lol!
Lol I was a few seconds too late! -
Quote:I can do that but I'm not on board with asking the Dev's to prevent them completely. As suggested a few posts above, more options are better than fewer and I agree with that.I'm willing to chalk it up that you and I can agree to disagree if you can. .
On another subject, I like that you can see who the person was quoting now. Multiquotes are ok, but I'm used to pyramid quoting! :P -
Quote:Honestly, I have to disagree. There are many talented people out there who would probably like to have a canvas bigger than 100x100. Also, imo, text sigs running on from text posts just mean more reading rather than skimming over neat, appropriately sized images.Avatars should be enough in the way of self expression without sig image making threads longer and more cluttered.
If the Devs can allow an personal option (don't think they can with vBul boards) to turn off img tags from signatures rather than all images, fine. Rather have something available with the option to turn off rather than not having it at all. -
Quote:Don't mean for it to sound like having a go at particular people, but it would be nice if people actually had a look at the options before complaining or whining about something. It's the first couple hours with a new (for some of us) system. Maybe it would be nicer to point people to where they can change the option instead of giving them a hard time for having a different preference than your's. I finally found what you were talking about, but it took a bit. There are a lot of things to fiddle with and adjust.
But.. just for those coming in late try this link: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/profi...do=editoptions and if you don't want images turn the image options off. -

Quote:Sigh... don't like 'em? Turn off the option in your User CP. KthnxbaiSo excited about new forums. Won't be as happy if Sig Pics remain active though.
