If the Dev's decided to add a few settings, fine as long as the time spent on something that only few people could use doesn't detract from the time spent on what most, if not everyone can use.

In any case, I'll wait for a game which is worth upgrading my rig for.

I'd like to see both Crusader games available with XP/Vista compatibility. Had the boxed versions a long time ago, lost them over time

Thanks, tempted by Fallout but I have quite a few offline games to keep me occupied too. Just need to find the files needed so I don't need to take the discs with me.

Ha, oh well I've never been technical minded anyway. I think that both parts of the original question have pretty much been answered, I'm sure I can put up with a long loading time (might stick the kettle on for a brew while waiting) and I'll mess about with the IG settings.

A new PC is out of the question at the moment as I intend on buying a laptop soon for when I'm working in the Falklands, no online games for 4 months

Ah, I believe my nVidia 7900GS is a 512mb card so going by that it's probably why I can't get more than 3Gb.

Actually it's probably my processor. I'm still running on a single core 2Ghz. I could upgrade my RAM but it's an old MB with only two slots I have 2Gb already, I could go for 4Gb but doesn't XP cap it at 3?

My ISP is Plus.net which prioritises online game traffic and they've got the specs for CoX and I'm connected at 5Mb.

Perhaps I've just been spoilt by other MMO's who's design doen't mean a lot of loading right at the start.
I guess what I'd really like to see is a progress bar when it's loading!

Understandable for established players but not for newer players. While I agree that one would have to establish their heroic or villainous side first they shouldn't have to wait til lvl 50. Around lvl 15-20 would seem fair.

I've never had any issues with either setting up access to the test server or transferring a character to it. The longest time in setting it up is the actual copying of the files followed closely by the test server client checking that all the files are present and correct.
The instructions presented are quite clear and concise imo, and no, I'm not a computer genius either.

But 5 hours?! Not even a fresh install took that long for me!

Are there any commands users can use, for example adding to to a text file in the game file directory, which would give greater control over the appearance/setup of the game on the client side?

Other MMO's have the ability to enter a commands which would disable any intro movies or remove certain visual (non-interactive) elements or even allow a powerful PC to exceed the settings (view distance etc..) available from the client options.

Does CoX have anything like that? I have a fairly decent PC although it' getting old now but I find that CoX's initial loading times are extremely long compared to other MMO's I've played and am wondering if there is any way to speed it up so the login screen doesn't take so long to load up.

Well as I said, the command can have other uses other than for when you get stuck. Also a penalty would give a dev more to do, but again, as I said in the last part of my previous post simply putting together what already exists under a new command (without a penalty) shouldn't take up much in a developers spare time, even adding a suppression on abilities which could be exploited. In fact the most time would probably be taken up with the confirmation box if one were to be implemented!

Kind, I know, I was just relaying on to others who may not have thought about the other possibilities for a suicide type command.

I guess one person's waste of time is another persons worthwhile. If it can be made without opening itself to exploiting, I'd say the small development time would be worthwhile for it's use in rp, being stuck etc..

Rofl, I can see who's never been stuck in MxO before! /suicide was quite useful at times be it leaving a mission area quickly or if you can't be bothered to travel all the way to the entrance/exit point or even a purely RP standpoint (/zomghekilledkenny).

Obviously there would have to be a penalty (other than XP debt) with using it, and taking a note from MxO where death causes a -15% attribute to all stats (reducing over 5 minutes) why not have a penalty which reduces the effectiveness of all Def/Dam/Acc etc.. for a period of time?

As for the suitability of the command name, the game is rated Teen, lets not mollycoddle people pls.

And /wasteofdevelopertime is a laugh.. /selfdestruct much? Creating a command which instantly (you could have a confirmation box in case of a change of heart) reduces health to zero and uses the death animation can't be too hard to cobble together in a 5 minute coffee break. No need to make it send you to the hospital either as that happens on death anyway when selected, or you can use awaken/get revived as you would normally.

Be happy that this game still has some sort of development. There is at least one other MMO out there who's players are crying out for development.
You may not all like new developments, you can't please everyone, but zero development pleases no one.

That's ok. I'm actually not really wanting cape for my main or alt at the moment, was just wanted to know how they and other items were accessed other than the mission at lvl 20.

I did get the Cyborg pack though, that's pretty neat!

Ok, so I know you can run a mission at lvl 20 to get a cape for a character, but I see pictures of people with wings, I've seen (low level) people with flowing scarfs etc..

How do you get these other items? Are they merely choices you get when you complete the cape mission? Also search function being what it is brought me to a thread discussing a VEAT costume.. whats VEAT?
