Quote:GG at being consistant at offering nothing positive. Being its that simple then make it happen. A league and ladder are nothing alike so how you figure the rules are the same I am not sure. Opinions are only relevant when you do something with them. Just talking trash about something and not doing anything about it is about as useful as hitting phase when you have no endurance.
The rules for the newie league need to be the same as the ladder league.Simple.
Being your rage posting is only to get the ball rolling as you said, dooo ettt. There is interest, its simple, what are you waiting for? -

Quote:Please refer to the other thread for my response to ^^^^^^ that.Quote:Thats all well and good but most that pvp now are doing it for the fun(dimished as that might be compared to before).I don't see how prizes matter one way or the other. I also don't see how waiting is a good idea when free transfers are up pretty soon. Rules? By pvpec...?C'mon(we all know how great thats worked out in the past)? No offense but Pvpec as lead by RaidController was horribad.......Hell? I have a sneaky suspicion that buncha bs is why we all got stuck with this sort of pvp in the first place. The rules are the rules accepted by the official ladder. There's your rules. Because the whole point is to make a tball league to prep people for AllStars.Whats so hard about understanding ANY of THAT?If its in the works.. then dooo it...... Gawd.
People always want to talk **** about those that actually try to do something while they sit over in a corner and contribute nothing but hot air. Personally I think the PVPEC has always done a good job because regardless if they hosted events the way you wanted them to be hosted, atleast they are volunteering to do something to enhance pvp. Silit is right the PVPEC is now under new leadership and about half of our current reps are brand new. I dare to dream of one single mention of the PVPEC not drumming up an lolpvpec comment, imagine that.
Furthermore if you think Raid or the PVPEC had any impact on the changes made to PVP then perhaps you will believe my NC accounts are free and they also pay my mortgage for me.
Now back on topic. Being that when we worked out the rules for the league things were different, different leaders etc we need to go back to the drawing board and tweek what we have. As soon as we do that we will post it, get input from everyone and probably tweek it some more. In the meantime everyone knows its going to happen, go ahead and move your toons while you can for free.
Let me reiterate what Silit said, this is about a league, not a ladder. Two different things that have nothing to do with each other. -
As stated in the other thread there is something similar to this coming out soon by the PVPEC. We have a couple more kinks to work out and then will be implementing it on Freedom.

I wasn't though. I know why elf stalker is the fat kid more than most being I am from his same home server. I am talking more about the people who nobody knows. Because they are not known, in a good way or a bad way, they are last choice usually. Not saying people are necessarily wrong for that, but its not exactly a good way to make new people feel welcome either. I am guilty of it too. First picks will always be the people that are known to be good. If we all make a concientious effort in not only kickball but in pvp events in general to be a little more noob friendly it can only benefit us as a whole. More people feeling welcome ='s more pvp'rs ='s more competition.
While we might not be able to get rid of the habit of wanting to team with those we know are decent we can kick the habit of making rules in events or making leagues / ladders that do not give new pvpr's a fair shot. -
Yes we do. We have the rules all worked out, have for months now but got sidetracked between waiting for prize support and our now ex-leader taking a hiatus. I finally got us some pretty good prize support just this week. We need to set up a meeting with me, Peril, you and Sneaky to go over the rules again and I guess get it moving forward.

Quote:That would be the whole purpose behind the "everyone" plays rule. If you have a 15 man roster, 10 team roster picked players and 5 drafts. That is 15. First match half play, second match half play. Of course common sense tells us if a 3rd match is necessary then any team is going to send in their heavy hitters. Chances are everyone isnt going to show up for every match so then maybe the draft guys get to play a little more than anticipated or visa versa. Point is everyone plays and you don't have to be a "kool kid" to get to play.dUmb challenges whoever has a team for initial 1/2 rankings. Lets start this. Feel free to debate hypotheticals ad nauseam in the meantime.
I'm all for a supplemental draft, but frankly if you have 10 PvP players you know and 5 new players, who's going to start? Also, if I have 15-20 people I know/sort of know, I'd rather that be my roster.
There seems to be this habit that noobs have to earn the right to get to pvp with the veterans. I see it in kickball every night. The people that come that no one knows get picked last, or not at all. Even if their toons are a better choice for the team. Even if they have fabulous builds and HP. Ok cool, I get the point of people wanting to team with those they trust. However pvpr's are an already dieing breed in this game. We need to open up and present everyone with more opportunities to learn and join in on all pvp. Our events, leagues and ladders need to be put together in a way that embraces new pvpr's. -

Quote:This.Getting participants will involve getting groups of people into PvP. There is word in the air of League (separate from the ladder) in the planning stages.
The league would allow people to enter themselves into a team PvP environment via drafting pool. This way people could enter without actually needing to have a team of 8 ready to go. Hopefully, such an event would increase external interests in a ladder. I'm not a fan of draft picks, but if a draft-league gets going it would be good for the stagnant but ambitious PvP community that exists now.
I'm personally against running ladder officials, or even announcing that a ladder official exists until there is strong internal support for it. That said, I'd be glad to schedule unofficial pick-up matches with anyone who has a team of 8.
75% of the pvpr's that are newer to the game do not have a team, or even the knowledge it would take to form up a successful one. By running a league, lets say with a 10 person roster with 5 drafts for a total of 15 with a rule that everyone plays I think we have a better chance of getting something going.
Having 3 teams that will just beat each other up occassionally just isn't any fun. It was one of the worst aspects of the test ladder. I can remember a month or more going by on many occassions with no offical matches.
Not only that but lets be honest here. If 3 teams scoop up all the decent players there isn't any reason for anyone else to make other teams anyways. They will have nothing to look forward to because they will stay at the bottom forever. However if we break up the bigger teams in to smaller rosters with draft picks it spreads out the elite and gives the noobs a chance to actually experience highend pvp without being nothing but cannon fodder on the bottom of the ladder. I mean who the **** wants to pvp to just be stuck at last place all the time? Also who wants to spend the time and dedication it takes to build a team, pl, farm for builds and IO out toons to fight the same 2-3 teams every now and then? Especially with this being on live where building toons doesn't have an easy button like test would have for copying over what we need. -

We have several events planned for the next few months and several new reps from various servers have volunteered to help rebuild the PVPEC so that we can continue to bring you quality pvp events. Unfortunately we still do not have one single Virtue rep. Sure could use the help, please? :-)

PVPEC is still desperately seeking reps to help promote pvp on Protector. Anyone? I have pie and bacon. :-)
