Quote:No matter what format or how strict rules are people are always going to find a way to manipulate the system to be in their favor.back on point...I would say gl with a league but a partial roster partial draft sound sketch at best...Just to play devils advocate...suppose you get 10 man teams 5v5 6 weeks of matches and it's 5 roster, 5 draft? Even if you do everyone plays you can (and you know people will) do roster/picks/roster to win.
Plus what is to stop anyone from stacking? say I register with 5 people roster then get 4 or more to sign up as picks...even If I am late in the first round I am going to end up with a team of 6-8 people I know who can pvp...
I would say you have to go captains and full draft...
We spent HOURS last night working through what we believe to be our final draft for this league idea. I believe Peril is working on the artwork and it will be posted before you know it. I think that the people that want a ladder and the people that want a draft will be pretty happy with what the finished product is going to be. Silit, Peril and Sneaky used some pretty good creativity that is for sure. :-) -

Quote:I would appreciate the build ty.ice blast on a defender can work.
kat, i can send you my ice/ice dom build when i get back and you can take a look at how i'm slotting things for a few ideas.
basically you're gonna want to go heavy on procs, and not just the dmg ones.
the problem still is that defenders don't get hiber and you're gonna have to sacrifice perception in order to make one work. i'd really go with an ice/cold corr if i had the option (assuming you're set on ice blast). sonic is still the mother of all corruptor primaries though. stunning a emp mid spike is essentially the same as a cage.
at the same time, defender power boost + benumb coupled with a good emp that can keep perception and heals on you, means there's a good argument to be made for using a cold/ice defender in an OPTIMAL teaming situation (which is rarely the case at kickball).
I am set on the defender only because I already have one at 50 and the idea of leveling up a toon any more is very ehhh to me. I typically don't pl and the few toons I have had pl'd were pl'd by people no longer in the game. So I am trying to work with what I already have for a while until I find some renewed interest in pve'n or until I can haz new friends who will pl me. -
So here is my problem. I know all the obvious powers from the pool powers I need to take. I know my attacks I need to take. My question is on my primaries. With all the nerfage to slows and buffs etc I am not sure which I should / shouldn't take. So in order of importance which should I take on the primary? Also is either of the freeze rays worth taking if I have room?

Sadly a kb can only hold 16 people and we need even teams. So if there are more than 16 people or an odd number some one gets left behind. Even the very best pvpr's have experienced being the fat kid in one match or another.
On another note ANYONE who quits out of a match because the team isn't in their favor or because someone is on the team they don't want to team with is a tard. That goes right along with the mentality that you wont fight anyone or any build that you can't beat. -
Quote:Every team lead will do exactly the same thing you normally do. The only difference is while forming up you will get a tally for how many of each warburg nukes your team has total. After the first wave is done I will be giving detail instructions on the nuke part of the raid.Unfortunately, I am unable to attend any of the separate events, due to previous commitments. However, I will be there to lead the MM team on Saturday. Y'all are going to have to give me EXPLICIT instructions of what I need to have the team do differently. Otherwise, I'll probably have a panic attack and mess it all up!
Geni
Yellow taunt team is really the only team that has an extremely different role at that point. The MM team will become the spike team at that point. Brutes will be taunting hami once we start the nuke portion of the raid. The yellow taunt team will also be having to grab the aggro of the yellows as the are respawning which is going to be a little tougher for brutes than it was for the tanks on blue side. -

Quote:.WTF are you talking about...i never quit out. Hell, last night i did not load on my team and i just went rogue the whole 10 mins.
I forgot to look at the final scores. I know we lost that match but did you get any kills and if you did were they counting for our team or does that bug make it where the person not on the team kills doesn't count for the teams? Did you die any and I wonder if those deaths counted for their wins? -
Quote:/agreedin the commie's defense... last night we were doing set, balanced teams, and it was a lot more fun that kickball...
Though there were still several matches that people still managed to get their teams stacked, but was better than usual.
I think the biggest thing we need to do is a last call for kickball and then set it to invite only and not invite anyone unless its going to fit in with the balance we already have. Stop letting people change their picks just because someone new comes in the match. Also stop letting the people who consistantly try to stack their teams have any say over them. Ohh yeah and stop with the whole " I gotta be on my bfff's, buddy's or whatever's team" stuff happen too. In all out reality nothing will unbalance a random kickball more than having one team having a bunch of people on it that consistantly pvp together. -

Quote:I don't play stalkers so I might sound like a tard here, but isn't it the same for trowing sharks on stalkers? More damage than anything but maybe AS?Think I hit Jaws for about 300 damage on the initial tick (this is before the DoTs, not counting procs, not in Scourge range) on a debuffed squishy. Of course that's not the norm but it's kind of sad when a patron attack does more damage than pretty much your entire primary.

Quote:Yep and Yep.Question for Clairification:
It says 1 emp and 1 thermal per team. Is the below team acceptable then?
1 Son/Emp Defender
1 Ill/Therm Controller
1 Fire/Pain Corruptor
1 Psi/Em Blaster?
Also, Is this team acceptable?
1 Ill/Storm Controller
1 Storm/Psi Defender
1 Fire/Storm Corruptor
1 Bots/Storm Mastermind
I would love to see that storm team, bet it would be pretty painful to watch on the right maps. -
Its only 25 mil a person which you can make in a matter of minutes. I am broke on freedom too, so yeah gotta do the entry fee if there is to be a prize.

Quote:I'd agree with your argument, If this event were not being hosted by a rep of a community PvP group.
PVPEC: A player committee formed by Ex Libris to create and promote PvP events on the Live servers and the Test server. This community project, while started by a NCsoft Community Rep, has always been intended to be run by the players and thus was turned over to them shortly after creation.
Retrieved from "http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Player_Versus_Player_Event_Committee"
While Bitter is doing a fabulous job at answering questions / concerns I wanted to intervene a bit here to make a few points.
While the PVPEC is here to try to make our events so that the "majority" of the community will be happy with the rules, at times it is just not feasible in order to make things fair across the board. TS is going to be turned on for this event to make it where a huge array of teams can compete fairly. While it is annoying to be suppressed, it is even more annoying to be the team that is a stalker/blaster or tank/scrapper combo that doesn't have a chance of getting a kill because any team with an emp or therm will have a huge advantage. (Yes I realize an experienced team will work around this, but our events are not only geared for experienced pvpr's). An emp or therm could be invised the entire match and heal at range and never risk being killed with travel suppression turned off. The last thing we want is for all the teams that want to compete but don't have access to a therm or emp to not have a chance at winning.
We have a Tournament Chair that is responsible for designing our monthly cross-server feature. His name is PerilX and I am sure if you have any questions or suggestions about any rules or even just to ask him to do a specific type of event he would love to hear from you.

Quote:I wasnt flaming I was just asking how you got these titles as PVPEC it may have sounded out of line but I don't feel it was in the least. Apparently some event committee gave it to you maybe you could point me in the direction to find more about the event committee.
Again this wasn't flaming just stating my opinion about the subject because it didn't sound like you were speaking for the community in the least.

Quote:Anyone can apply and I believe Critical Kat posted asking for reps on freedom. It's not an easy job so I would like to commend anyone who steps up and runs an event. Re the person running the event makes the rules...I THINK (may be wrong) that the committee actually makes the rules for the PvPEC cross server events but any rep who runs an event on their server makes their own rules.
As far as event rules, to clarify. This particular event is known as our montly feature. The rules are made up by PerilX (with input from the entire committee). Events that are posted that are not ran across all 11 servers are just regular rep events that they come up with themselves and they are free to make whatever rules they want to without interferance from the committee. If they want to add in a rule that you can only snipe while standing on your head and chewing bubblegum that is their perogative. Of course they might not get many participants that way, but still they are volunteering their time and are free to call the shots in their events.
DitzyBlonde,
Ty for taking the time out to explain about the committee to those that do not know. Much appreciated. :-) -
wow take a nap and the thread goes in to drama overload.
