The PvPEC is pleased to announce the beginning of a fun and exciting PvP league that will be taking place on the Freedom Server.
The League is designed with the player in mind. By creating a system where each team is composed of two squads, one drafted squad and one selected squad, we have joined the competitive nature of the PvP Ladder with the easy going format of the PvP League into one style of play that everyone can enjoy.
- Division 8 teams, which are selected by captains before the draft, will run in the traditional 8v8 format only against other Division 8 teams. This provides a medium for those wishing to participate in the fast and highly competitive nature of arena 8v8 matches.
- Division 6 teams, which are composed of drafted players, will play in 6v6 format and only play other Division 6 teams. With this system, Division 6 will fight other squads in a no stress scenario that welcomes any and all players, no matter their powersets or PvP experience.
- Both squads compose a single team so everyone is contributing no matter what division they belong to. Rounds will be scored for wins/ties/losses and the team with the highest cumulative score at the end of the season will be deemed the winner!
We are always working to get some sweet prizes for you guys for showing your support of the PvPEC and it's not gonna stop here. The League will have more prizes than any event we have held before! The details will be announced later so stay tuned!
Don't let those free server transfers go to waste, transfer a character over to Freedom and come join in the fun! Everyone is strongly encouraged to participate!

(as a dedicated healer you'll probably find it difficult if not impossible to be keeping buffs up and still contributing to a damage spike).
Truff. -
Depends on your definition of broke. Based on what the Devs consider working as intended, most things are not broke. Based on those of us who remember brighter days of frollicking in the fields of non diminished bliss, everything is broken.
Being dwelling on what "was" doesn't help matters any I am going to go with the concept that most everything is working as intended. -
Quote:Here is the official word of the PVPEC being it doesn't seem to be clear.Still like to read a PVPec official explanation. I don't care if they ban patron powers, you shouldn't be relying on patron powers as a handicap with the exception of shields.
All a rad is, is a debuffer. They are banning one of rads most useful powers of its debuff trifecta?
NO POWERS ARE BANNED.
Team Leaders will vote on the "suggested" banned powers when the time comes to do so.
It has been stated many times over that what we came up with is not the final written in stone version. We are here to serve the pvp community and in doing so realize we have to take that communities wants and needs in to consideration.
From what I understand though Peril had been in contact with several team leaders already to discuss the suggested banned powers and that is why they were added in there to begin with. Just saying.
As far as LR being broke or not broke, I haven't a clue. Looking at what is being posted about it, seems like some are saying it is and some are saying its not. If its deemed to not be broke then I am quite sure the final decision would be to not ban it. -
I don't know why it was banned. I do know 2 things though. No one is arguing the fact so I am assuming there is something legitimately wrong with it. Also the other day in KB I had LR on me and had no powers up and could barely move for like an entire minute so I am going to assume its not non-existant.

Quote:When you type I can hear your voice in my head. Its very odd.psi ems and sharks are realted...cuz since ppl cry that you can be killed by shark in hiber you can be ALSO killed by psi/em after being in hiber for 1000 years. The whole convo "omg shark killed me in hiber let's bann them" is just stupid just due that many other delayed powers can kill you in hiber also like shout, PB's TF etc. Should we bann those?
I agree on limiting amount of stalker per team. Realistically though 8 man stalker team would never win a match, 8 stalkers trowing sharks (3 sec duration hai) would die eventually if the team that is fighting them is not retarded. If team IS retarded they would lose regadless.
pfft i would even throw taser dart if necessary to get kills for my team :P
does Gale still have unsupressed kb? -
If you leave the map random it will put you on any map regardless of how many people. However now if you only have 2 people you can only select the maps for 2 people or more.

Quote:The sign up thread is there for this exact purpose. Everyones toons are listed, if you see someone you think might work on your team just shoot them a p.m. and ask them.Since i guess i'm one of the captains for this ladder thing.... i need emp's. Most of emp's that know what they are doing are taken. Emping is one of those thing's you either have it or you don't. Think of a emp as your left tackle in football...if your left tackle blows more then likely your team is going to blow. If you are interested let me know. I'm going to have some sort of try out. Post here if you are interested....
We havent gotten to advertising this across all the servers yet so I am quite sure there will be many more to choose from soon. -
Quote:I already mentioned the same thing about Hanks team. Ego is not exactly a fair example because her friend was Brynn, who was friends with Reaver who was friends with...you get the point. We are not talking about the average new pvp'r when you talk about how A.S.S. was started. Not all vet pvpers quit showing up in test pvp league..it was the vet pvpers who signed up for something know it was supposed to be fun, lost and took their balls and went home. TPVPL was the reason PE joined the test ladder...speaking of which Kat no one had to try out for every team. Some people like Ego created her own team to enter.. AA was specifically created by Hank to get new people in to ladder pvp...get them used to it and let them go join other sgs. Even during the start of the ladder - a lot of new sgs showed up...(I think there is still a match listed for ESK).
Either way I wish you guys luck with the ladder/league!
I cannot speak about every team. I can only speak about what I experienced on test. I started out with PCJL which was a team from Champion and I was friends with one of the leaders. I had to do internals and practice with them for quite some time before officially being allowed to join the team. When I left them I had to try out for PE. When I left PE I had to try out for A.S.S. I posted on the boards before ever finally making it to test that I was lft and not one single person sent me a p.m. They didn't know if I was good, sucked or whatever at that point. Now of course all of this was before Hank formed his team. I suppose had his team been in existance when I started on test maybe it would have been easier to get in. The only experience I had with a test team offering spots on their team was Ressurection when it first started when I joined(and I played on Champion with both the leaders and knew both of them) and Renegades when they asked me to join after Res fell apart. Scooping up what was left of Res was probably just a tactic to try to rebuild the lack of villain pvp on the ladder on part of the Renegades.
New pvpr's needs to be the focus when we create events/leagues/ladders. Or we could just keep fighting the same 16-25 people on Freedom day in and day out. That is bound to get boring. If we don't find a way to entice new people to join the community that is exactly what we will be stuck with.
Yanno what I am thinking. I am thinking that any type of organized competitive pvp that isn't just the same 10-20 people fighting each other every night should be fun and appreciated. I know I am looking forward to it. The great thing about test was logging in for practice and knowing that some other team was willing to do matches. Knowing that there were other like minded teams that just wanted to pvp. Win , lose, or draw. -
Quote:NO plan is full proof. I mean look at IPvPL's last season. Ajax was the best team captain. He picked the people he trusted the most first, those he knew were the best. His team was slightly stacked. They didn't win because his team was slightly stacked though. They won because he took the time to mentor his noobs a little. REalize the draft part of this is going to be kickball style. Any team leader is only going to be able to get so many good players on their division 6 team before the good ones run out and all that is left is new players. EVERY team is going to have that same problem.
If it ends up that every knowledgeable PvP'r is on a single team, then how do they end up losing? They would dominate the D8 portion (which counts for more than the D6) and then they draft some players for the D6 league and likely end up dominating it as well because of their likely advantage of being able to spot more knowledgeable draft entries. True, they would likely mentor their draft picks, but this only helps a handful of less-experienced players; actually, they could likely win most of their matches with a few small instructions vs detailed explanations.
Just like on the ladder. "Most" teams formed up with the best of the best. Anyone who was not the best couldn't get on the team. There were some honorable teams captains such as Hank that was willing to mentor and teach the new players and take the risk of being in last place. Sadly most teams are not willing to do that.
With this format we were simplay trying to find a happy medium. Something where everyone would be happy to a certain degree. Is it designed to make the test pvp'rs dominate? No. Is it designed to make the new pvp'r stand a better chance? Yes. That was the goal, and hopefully that is what we will achieve. -
bump.
I need to get an idea of how many participants we have for this for me to request the gold title prizes. I know teams are not required to sign up in advance here, but please just give a shoutout on the thread if you intend on competing. -
Quote:This format is designed to make both the hardcore pvp'r happy, and the new pvp'r happy. This is a combo ladder/league. Teams will organize, a few already are. They will put up their roster just like on test. Then they will draft out of what is left that signed up.How many knowledgeable, team-arena PvP'rs do you guys have at this point? Maybe I'm missing something, and not to insult anyone, but doesn't this format allow for everyone in that group to just enter on either 1 or 2 preassembled teams? It just seems that the most likely scenario here will be that only a couple of knowledgeable PvP'rs will be willing to captain a team, and then those couple of captains will recruit every other decent PvP'r before a draft ever occurs. Correct me if I'm wrong in thinking there are less than 24 upper-end PvP'rs now; I'm basing numbers off what I've been reading on the boards.
The PVPEC has to put together events that embrace the new pvp'r. This event is not only meant to embrace them, but is also designed to make it where the Veterans teach them. Where its in their best interest to do so. If your Division 8 team does not mentor and help the Division 6 team then you will not win the season no matter how good your "stacked" Division 8 team is.
The problem with the test ladder is you had to try out to get on a team. If you were not known or were not that great you didn't stand a chance of getting on. The problem with the old league was being it was all draft the good players wouldn't show up because their teams sucked. The not so good players didnt stand a chance because they didn't have anyone to mentor them. This League is designed to be a happy medium to hopefully solve both problems to make a viable team competition.
No matter what format we chose there is always going to be one or 2 teams that are going to dominate. That has been true for every organized pvp event in this game. Atleast this way though its not just an "elite kool kids" society, everyone gets to play and have fun.
Furthermore, as far as the powers that are banned......this can be voted on before the season actually starts. No rule is written in stone. Team captains are the final deciding voice on this. -
Quote:Pretty sure banned powers does not mean you cannot have them in your build. It means you cannot use them. Other team showing screenshots of the damage log would be needed as proof that a team was using a banned power. My only input is regarding sharks.
Keep in mind, you're doing this on Freedom, not test. Also keep in mind, like 95+% of stalkers have sharks.
So what do you expect people to do? Specifically respec their character JUST to play in this league? Not gonna happen. As broken as sharks are, they're a big part of some people's builds. No casual or semi-casual player is going to waste 2 respecs just to attempt playing in this league, the success of which is unknown to anyone.
Basically, if you really are interested in getting new people into this thing, don't ban one of the most popular powers in the entire game. A 2 stalker, or maybe even 1 stalker limit would work much better, I think.
Kind of like vengence on test. Lots of people had it for the bonuses to their builds but you just weren't allowed to click it during a match. -

What are you in-game Globals?: @CriticalKat, @Kitkat
What characters do you have on Freedom?: Emp & Therm. Currently working on finishing and moving a thugs/poison and cold/ice as well.
Are you willing to respec into a PvP build?: yes
Are you willing to roll a new character if needed?: yes
Briefly describe your PvP experience: Test pvp'd for a little over a year. Stopped pvp'n when ladder crashed. Just started back team pvp'n on Freedom a few weeks ago. -
During my nap just now I figured out what all we need to do differently to make it work villain side. A few small adjustments and we will have it. Those interested in doing it again go ahead and get your goodies. I will schedule it again in a few weeks.
-
Nice try guys. First mito phase went incredibly quick. We just didnt have enough damage to get hami in the end it seems. I don't take failure very well though so stay tuned and we will give this another attempt in a few weeks.
-
Quote:Not necessarily true. As an emp my number one priority is to give cm to the blasters. Second priority is the other emp or therm. Last priority is everyone else. So if the other teams disruption is doing a good job or if I am dieing a lot.....as a blaster your cm would be a priority. The cold however, not so much.I don't have Tactics on my Blaster and i have no problem. So going with defender with phase would be fine.
*i'm talking team matches not 1v1's...
Of course ideally everyone would always have cm, doesn't always work out that way though. -
Quote:It is really a toss up. I need 2-4 more brutes than we normally need for a raid. Then again we also need a few extra healers and kins. So its about equal in need this time.I haven't been around much but I can show up for this.
I've got a brute with taunt or pain corruptor, whichever'll be needed more.
Anyone who has a brute, kin, pain or therm please bring them as a priority. -
Fabulous! Welcome to Champion and glad to have you!
-
Quote:Ok general run down of how this is going to work. We start out with all teams how they are normally ran. We clear the first set of mitos. The MM stream is still going. At that point I will coordinate between the MM leader and the taunt team leader for a brute to take over taunting. Once that brute has hami aggro the MM stream will close down and join the rest of the spike team.Hmmm, okay ... am I understanding correctly that the MM team then attacks the yellow mitos, at that point? I've never done a Hami redside on anything but Geni, my MM, so I am VERY ignorant of how other ATs/teams work.
In any case, I'll be there and I will do my best to follow your instructions.
Geni
2 Brutes will be cycled in to taunt hami. One dies, the other one is running in. Just like how we do on blueside except being all the mitos are dead. We will not do anything at this point until that team is stable. We may possibly have to adjust and have another brute or 2 to cycle in. I know nothing about brutes so I am not sure how long they will last or if it will be long enough for the dead brute to be tp'd, rezzed, buffed and sent back in.
So once that team is stable everyone but the hami taunt team will gather on one side of hami. The hami taunter will be on the other side of hami. At this point I will call for single target buffs only.
This is where everyone needs to pay extra close attention to instructions.
This is the order of instructions so that everyone will know in advance what to expect. The following instructions will be one right after the other and all be done in less than one minute.
- Do not attack or debuff hami at all.
- Aoe buffs fired off (A.m., etc.)
- Warburg buff nukes (I will call for certain teams only to fire them)
- Warburg debuff nukes (I will call for certain teams only to fire them)
- Yellow taunters run out quickly and get in position ready to taunt yellow aggo off of us, this includes their support team.
- EVERYONE Pop an EOE and a Break free.
- I will then call for permanent AT pets to be brought out. (imps, jack, drk servant , thugs, bots etc.)
- Shivans, Mechs, any other temp pets out. (Including taunters, yours can help keep some extra mito aggro off of us.
- Attack hami with everything you have. Please have either accrobatics on or hover during this. The KB will be bad. When you are kb'd you can not attack.
- Warburg buff nukes (I will call for certain teams only to fire them)
- Warburg debuff nukes (I will call for certain teams only to fire them)
- Hami should be dead here if everything goes right.
- Collect your reward and have a fabulous evening.
