Actually that is fairly inaccurate. Before I13 when pvp was at its prime and most of the hardcore pvpr's had 3-5 accounts each and 50 times more active pvpr's than there is now..... it still was only 1/1000th of their revenue.
They could certainly develop it to be as profitable as it used to be, and maybe even more so if they really invested some time in to developing pvp and adding fun content. Still being more profitable than it currently is wouldn't compare to what the pve and badge clientele bring in revenue wise. It doesn't take a genious to figure out where their man-hours and resources are going to be concentrated on.
That being said doesn't change the fact that a companies "minorities" should be just as important. Not building pvp up to attract additional revenue makes sense from a business standpoint to some point being they have already seen how low the profit margin is compared to pve subscribers. However leaving it alone as it was before I13 would have only had most pvpr's feeling slightly neglected due to no new content. Instead they all feel like the company took a big crap on them. Not good business IMHO.

Generic responses are generic.
I have always had the attitude that every one should quit their griping and move forward and lets try to make the new system fun. Responses like this make it impossible to support that concept.
We don't care about the powers team. Their JOB is to make this a fun game for their patrons. That is also your job. Because it is "easier" or gives them more "flexibility" doesn't mean it is the right way to do it, or the best way to keep your customers happy.
I would respect a more honest response such as "pvp revenue is 1/1000th of the incoming revenue in this game and our man hours must be focused on aspects of the game that make NC more money". That would certainly be more honest than some generic blowoff like what you posted.
P.S. Bringing out new content all the time without fixing the broke stuff is lame. Quality > quantity.
Quote:DR is a tool that gives a lot more flexibility to designers when they are creating powerful effects. Without it, PVP would just come down to who can buff the fastest to get off their killing blow.
I understand a hatred towards DR, as it really does monkeywrench a lot of builds, but it does give the Powers team a lot more flexibility in what they are allowed to create. -
Odd that Tony was your first meeting. Mine too! I was probably around lvl 27 on my namesake scrapper and we were on the same team and he was trying to figure out why I was doing so little damage compared to him. He finally figured out I still had DO's in my toon because I didn't have a clue what SO's were or where to buy them. Then he took me on my first shopping spree and even sprung for the bill . :-)

Actually we did one time that I know of. Me, you and your wife and I dont remember who else ended up on an ITF. I remember it specifically because someone (I don't remember who) kept going on and on about being on a team with so many celebrities. I remember feeling very awkward at best.

1. Favorite Toon
HotRadKat ... previously SetUrAzzOnfire (grrr @ nerfs)
2. Memory (s)
Probably the best were the 100-200 person hami raids during hami school month.
3. First Meeting
Amygdala. I think my first memory of actually teaming was an STF that Allakard put together. He was telling me how bad *** these 2 dark defenders were he had done an STF with a few days before that. I remember on vent thinking the one guy playing the dark was a cocky annoying individual. However Amygdala was cool as hell, and as promised a badass dark fender that knew how to play her toon. -

I just don't want to see the draft postponed another week if not absolutely necessary. Hopefully we can promote enough in the next couple of days to get more signups. I just know that interest subsides quickly, especially being most pvpr's seem to be hardly holding enough interest to play this game most of the time.
Quote:I think people would be less likely to sign up after an initial draft. It wouldn't matter if teams would be filled, but personally I'd like the first to be sufficient either way. If that means 12-man teams or whatever we end up going with on the fly.
We still have a lot of sign-ups missing that seem likely, not counting the random people most of us don't know. -
Can we consider doing the draft on schedule and having a second draft the week after thus giving teams the opportunity to start practicing with at least some of their picks and getting some nightly arena matches going for now so interest doesn't subside maybe?

You go back and edit your original beginning post of each thread. You click the little bluedot with the linky thingy that is right to the left of the picture icon thingy and you paste the link to the other thread in it. Do that to each one.
-
Dex can you link the 2 threads together so those of us who want to help advertise broadcast one link its linked to the other for easy reference?
-
Hold up, are you the retard with the glad javs in your emp? The one who just so happened to get one kill shot when a TEAM killed me? You don't know what the word farmed means apparently if one kill = farmed. You don't have any community relations skills because all you do is talk **** in a pvp zone in an MMORPG and having glad javs on am emp and being a zoner doesn't make you good.
Quote:The lack of player signups has little to do with community outreach...
Be smart.
As proof I'll spam Freedom/Virtue RV broadcast and a few Freedom/Virtue channels with a link to this thread.
I probably have better community relations than you do because I don't get farmed by an emp on my Stalker... -
I imagine that just broadcasting in Freedom, Virtue and maybe Victory RV with a link to the thread would make a significant difference. Only a small percentage of the players actually read the forums and an even smaller percentage actually have the arena channel on an active chat tab. Maybe we could do that the next couple of days and see what the turnout brings before postponing the draft. Vex has a valid point, people may lose interest if we postpone it.
-
His math was correct. However perhaps another week extension may be in order for some more advertising. Right now we need 11 more signups for the bare minimum and being a few said they are not sure if their schedules will be viable it would be nice to have some extras to choose from.
Quote:I dun want to be debbie downer - but I thought the goal was 14 on each team? with 5 teams at core 6 people each you still need at least 40 sign ups for the draft.
If you shoot for just 8 per team - you are more than likely not going to get 8v8s as not everyone can make sundays every week (ala fatez who says :don't pick me bro-
I think you need to extend the draft time longer or people start shaking trees to get people to participate - maybe talk to the devs and see if we can get something on the loader like they did with test pvp league - cross post in other server forums to see if people are interested in server move to join. .. -
1. Ernesto Hess -- Always been my favorite though taking away the actual death and explosion at the end definitely dulled the shiney for me.
2. Apex -- Its a slight challenge and hilarious to watch people having a hard time evading in the Battle Maiden battle.
3. Any of the Shadow Shard TF's. Not because the tf's are actually that fun, I just love the Shadow Shard. I totally resent the fact that the dev's haven't given us more content there.
4. StF I love AV's and this one has plenty. -
