This season could have been if anyone who ever whines about needing more PVP or a League or Ladder actually ever followed through and did it. The Freedom League sat on our forums for almost a year while others talked about creating one but never did. Good thing people who volunteer and invest hours and hours of their time usually get their satisfaction out of seeing the majority enjoyed the experience because waiting on anyone to actually show any appreciation of the effort would be a lost cause.
Quote:Quote:The everyone get to play rule need another look into, because right now it's pretty retarded. If Random Joe Strawberry showed up for one practice and vanish, then during game day pop up in PD, if I was a captain I wouldn't want to play him. If that mutation 1k HP ice/rad with fly fail to fix his build after been told to change it, I wouldn't play him. Yet the whole team get penalize for it when their's a few that do make the effort.
You can't please everyone, but enforcing rules that hurt the whole teams need to be change or find a middle ground. Only people that puts both effort and time should be protected by the "Everyone get to play rule". When Random Joe Starwberry decide to get accolades and show up for more then one practice should that rule apply to him.
While D6 is suppose to be more fun and relax, it's still competition so you can't fault people for wanting to win. Being force to play people that don't give a damm will cause more harm then good in the long run. -
Quote:The rule in general is not lame. Again the reason for the League is to get casual pvpr's interested in highend pvp. Its difficult to find a balance that allows the new guys to partipate casually but also keeps the "I dont care mentality" off of the teams. Every league in the past has allowed all to partipate regardless of time constraints/build issues/attitude problems. Not allowing everyone to partipate ='s a ladder. Hopefully this will build up enough interest to make a Ladder feasible. While it is frustrating to have to deal with no shows or people who don't care realize that every team has the same issues. The 'everyone must play' rule is obviously pretty lame. I don't know that there is anything that can be done about it, unfortunately.
Psoma pretty much hit the nail on the head. A d6 member who cares, works hard at getting better, and shows up consistently is given the same credit as someone who goes AWOL and then shows up to a match ready for action and is detrimental to the efforts of everyone else on the team.
It's good to give everyone an opportunity to play. Frankly, however, someone shouldn't expect to play if they blow off their team. -
Quote:Even with my team being the victim of some very bad D6 matches due to them not participating and showing up in advance or not taking advice on changing their builds but then us being required to play them in the matches.....I still think it is the best thing.I realize that the supplemental draft is likely necessary for some teams, but what bothers me most about it is that it's potentially going to hurt the playing time for a number of original, committed and reliable, D6 people on each team. We, for example, have a number of draftees that have been active on our GP site and in-game chats, and they have shown up to everything PvP-related (like practices, scrimmages, KBs, etc.). We also have a couple of people that have been active but are keeping themselves out of matches until they have readied their choice of PvP toon.
That's the way I was assuming we wanted this to work, but maybe I'm wrong. We are trying to teach people how to be semi-competitive in our D6 team. As things are now, the casual zoner just looking for PvP can say "The rules didn't say anything about me having to join dUmb chat, dUmb GP, or practicing. I'm here now, and I want to play my flying regin!!!" We haven't had this happen to us YET, but other teams have, and with the new draft, it could happen to us soon...or other teams could be getting more of the same.
I guess I'd just like to hear some thoughts as to what can be done to make things a bit better for the D6'rs that are trying to compete.
Before I13 I probably would have never supported such drastic measures as requiring teams to play every single person no matter what. We need new pvpr's if we want to ever be able to have competitive team pvp on a larger scale again. There just are not enough people to support a ladder.
We were all flying noob scrappers at one point or time. I think the difference is that back then there was lots of pvp to be found every where so the learning curve was a lot different. Also we didnt have DR, TS, HD in zones. Now the new pvpr's are being dumbed down essentially and not required to learn the best tactics to survive in zone.
So to get them to a decent level of competitiveness is going to take more time and attention. The League was designed the way it was to attract new pvprs and require the Vets to teach them to have any chance of winning. That requirement unfortunately is necessary because 90% of the teams wouldn't bother taking the time if it wasn't a requirement to have a chance at winning.
I suppose next season we can discuss working in some type of rule requiring them to have a certain percent of participation in practice before having to put them in matches. Not sure how we could work that because it would open the door to teams not having to play really crappy players that try hard which defeats the purpose of this being a casual team.
Quote:Can we at least not have to play a non-50? There are some of those in round 2 as well. -
What are your in-game Globals?: @Konquess
What characters do you have on Freedom?: 50 spines/ninjitsu, fire/fire scrapper, spines/regen scrapper
Are you willing to respec into a PvP build?: yes
Are you willing to roll a new character if needed?: yes
Briefly describe your PvP experience: Nub Sauce -
Quote:Ice/Rad & Psi/EM with incredibly low HP. This whole thing is supposed to be about teaching new pvp'rs. I am in support 100% of every D6'r having to play, in fact I was the one who pushed hard for that rule. The problem our team had is that for whatever reason none of our D6'r have made it to hardly any practices. The few that have been making it are the ones that couldn't make it to the matches this week. So then on match day we are having to field guys that not only have no clue what to do, but have no HP, fly, etc.We were running FC, only dUmbies can get sweep combos on 2 ppl at the same time <_<
Psoma refused to heal me cuz she "was busy observing FC".
Honestly though, i am still surprised by lineups RAFTW brought...
I understand we have to play all d6ers but apprently Kat was forced to put ice rad corr with 1105 HP that just dinged 50 on team. That is why i asked Peril if we can remove people from the roster that don't contact and show up for practices. Otherelse you just give other team glowing farm target.
Oh, and Kat was emping :>
Barrier you can have my cold shoulder to cry out btw.
Our first match failed simply because of a risky lineup we decided to try. Everyone that bothered to show up for the lineup discussion knew we were going in with a risky lineup and that it might not work. Second match was more competitive. By third match because of internal drama the team just pretty much had given up and didnt even try, myself included.
I must say though I am proud of the team. Besides the couple of people that had rage quit after the first match they all stayed and practiced to work with our D6 guys, help create them viable builds and teach them to spike. So all in all it was a lesson learned that brought about some positive results by the end of the night.
p.s. while I admit i suck anymore on emp ummm I wasn't even in the first match. :-) -

The rule is going to stay as posted as 6v6 this week. Once the rest of the drafts are divvied up a Captain may make a motion to move it up to 8v8 at that time.
-
Trying to get Captain votes now but I just remembered that even if I get enough votes to switch it to 6v6 the new rule change wont go in to effect until next week matches. So dUmb, sadly either way you will be fighting 8v8 tonight. Good news is you are fighting my team and we might not have 8 either, lol.

Quote:As I told you that night on vent there was no re-write. The rule was there you just didn't read the entire thing to see it.guess what, the 5 or 6 captains thing is there too.
have you ever read contract in your life, kat? just because it says "to be determined" doesn't mean you or peril get to play "decider" without asking for a vote from the captains (which should have been done, well, yesterday).
same thing happened when the whole "hey guys, i didn't say 5 minutes before match" line-up submission thing happened. even though i warned you guys the day after the rules were posted and asked for a vote on a few line-up submission ammendments. peril pulled a rewrite out of his *** and pushed it into the rules to make the OP more like the original intent of the behalf of the pvpec (without casting an actual vote amongst captains to make the change).
Secondly "to be determined" does not mean by Captain vote. What it means is that at the time that the rules were written we had absolutely no idea how many people were going to sign up or how many teams were going to sign up to know what sized matches the D6 teams would be able to support. "Prizes to be determined" did not mean Captains would get to vote on what prizes would be given, it meant we would announce the specifics at a later time. Just like team size "to be determined" does not mean by Captain vote but that it would be announced at a later time.
If a Captain wants a rule change all they have to do is do exactly what I suggested be done, make a motion. However the PVPEC made the original rules and yes we will enforce the rules based on our intent when we made them until Captains make motions for changes. We are not going to put every tiny little issue up to a vote when no one really wants to be bothered with the small little ******** rules. When they do care, they will ask for a vote. -
Quote:I will log on in a bit and get a vote on your motion.I make the rule (not) change proposal then to keep it as originally written.
dUmb (of course) votes yes.
I have no issue of 8v8s but we seem to average 4 d6s showing up at any given time. All have been contacted. I nor anyone else have the time to hunt them down.
Having said that I'll probably (ironically) have 15 show up tonight. -
Quote:Its in the rules that the size would be determined based on signups ********.it's sort of funny that the OP is getting changed over and over and over to clear things up without discussing "intent" with the captains.
technically any changes to the league rules requires that the 5 captains agree to it. might as well just take this rule out since we're wiping our ***** with it. -
Silit just hasn't updated the original posting yet.
Quote:We had a significant number of signups to warrant the 8v8's. Sadly my team and your team seem to be in a bind of fielding that at this moment but the rest of the teams seem to be doing great.Division 6 match format may increase depending on sign-ups, i.e. 7v7 and 8v8.
They will be 8v8 and after tomorrows matches we will be dividing up the extra signups to teams that need them.
You could make a rule change proposal but being no other team seems to be having d6 problems not sure if you would get a majority vote in support of it. -
Yes I fail at pvp. I admit players are good at losing LOS a few times so therefore that means I can't play a tanker. Hahaha CriticalKat is no gud pvp'r. Hahaha my team made me play a tanker cuz I suck. Any more lulzy comments you care to make to somehow make your shriveled up e-peen seem bigger? Atleast come up with something new rather than the same old refried ******** please.
-
Quote:Perhaps instead of asking for a retarded nerf that would suck for every other AT you should just take a Patron set that has a freaking immobilize in it? Better yet try pvp'n something else. Challenge yourself. It is not slow enough if a scrapper can EASILY run away, and if I try to run to catch up, I'll lose my pets he'll one shot me. It is NOT fair and balanced and YOU know it.
On a side note the delay time that it takes your pets to spawn next to you as you are running is really not that significant. If you are chasing a fleeing target that is almost dead chances are they are not going to turn around and kill you in that 1 whole second your pets take to spawn in BG range. -
Quote:lol wut? I will give you props, you were a pain in the *** to keep taunted. However you taunting our blasters off 5-10 times total in a match is 90% better than the 100+ times you would have taunted otherwise.Comeon now, you're both easy to farm, also, you can't taunt me kat i r runnin 2 gud
WTT Mind/Rad for a blaster that can outkill a brute
You weren't as hard to taunt as Dex was the other night. I think that SOB has turbine in his nike's or something. -
-
I will talk to Peril in a bit and see if there is something that we might be willing to allow. While we totally feel your pain we also have to make sure things are fair for every team across the board.
-
Quote:First of all following the rules is not an option that you can choose to do or not do. Those people are on your roster, period. If they show up Thursday we'll will put them back on the roster.
But Kat I'm not holding my breath.
Those of us that have working our fingers off practicing every night for several hours, the d8 and d6 (save eagle) are trying to make this into a real team.
I for one do appreciate you claiming to sandbag during our practice match. Play us for real or don't play us at all. We do enough internals practicing evasion and spikes.
The Team Stands behind Divine and his leadership, Eagle was practically begging him to be Co-captain the first practice.
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the purpose of the d6 team is to teach PvP n00bs, like myself, how a real ladder and team PvP is played. Divine is doing just that. If you aren't teaching your d6 nooblets how real team PvP works prepare to get wrecked.
Oh and Kat just so you know the second match we had someone who never called targets before doing it, you know for practice.
Secondly I did not claim to sandbag crap. I said in arena chat before ever setting up matches that we only had 4 of our people show up and would just throw in some extra bodies to similate a real practice. You played 5 blasters. We had 1 blaster in our first match and 2 blasters in our 2nd and 3rd match. Our 4 D6 people were playing their little hearts out. The 4 d8 players were bodies filling in and doing nothing really. In the last match I switched to my tank and taunted a blaster for the first 4 mins of the match and then switched to taunting your healers between spikes because I was bored.
I said that in arena chat before the matches so if you agreed to do the matches without understanding that then that is on you. We did not have enough people there to do internals and said as much. NOt my fault your leader agreed to conditions that you chose to take offense to after the fact.
Now again I will say your team did great and the spikes were pretty clean and had we actually had enough people show up to do a match it probably would have been a pretty competitive fun D6 match. We thought it was better to let our few D6 people get some evasion practice than throw in our 4 best D8 players with them trying their hardest too against a D6 team. Shame on us for trying to be considerate. -
What they have been denied is not the issue. This is your teams official roster and you guys have a crap load of people publicly listed as being removed. This is an example of exactly what shouldn't be happening on D6 teams. It is meant to be fun and relaxed and geared more towards the casual pvp'r. So that people with no experience or even no time could get to pvp and experience some team arena matches.

All players removed were agreed upon by the people that actually show up for practice and try to improve and work as a team... so we are not adding them back in. kthx. =)
Ok I missed this post apparently. Now i know what everyone is griping about. Your team cannot just arbitrarily agree to remove people who don't show up for practice. Perhaps you guys should read the rules. This is D6, meant to be fun and allow EVERYONE to play. I would suggest that you adjust your roster to show only people who have asked to be removed, are perma-banned or who's global is coming back as non existant as being removed.
After your first match on Thursday you may only remove the people who have never been heard from. If they responded to a tell or an email etc and just didn't show up for practice they are still on your team. If they never show up for a practice they are still on your team. If they show up for one single match the entire season you must play them and they are still on your team. -
Actually they are not supposed to boot any players until after their first official match if they have not heard from that player at all. The only other removals that should have happened already are people requesting to be removed. Period. Players are also not allowed to be removed just for not showing up to practice. This is not the Ladder where you randomly just boot people. EVERYONE gets to play whether they show up for practice, have a decent build or whatever. If they show up for one single match the entire season, they get to play. Any D6 team not allowing them to play will be Dq'd.
