Okay since this thread is not going to get locked... What is up with the thread derailing with recipes, not that they havent been useful. (my fiance thanks you for giving her ideas on what she wants me to cook)
-
Good Lord! Ladies, Gentlemen, and Catgirls I'm beginning to think Mr. NoPants was right. If the 6-7 of you who have regularly posted in this thread are any example of the forum population at large then I really do think the Moderators were just overwhelmed. I'm not saying you eat kittens when no one can see you do it. I am saying that the sheer amount of venom directed at your fellow human beings in this thread would be enough to kill 10,000 kittens. My cruisers can't repel kittens of that magnitude!
This thread has devolved into an arguement over how a real man solves a problem. That was never the point of this. My issue has been and will likely for the rest of life be with the abusive trolls and thinskinned snowflakes. (thanks for that term Forbin)
Mods please lock this thread before it devolves further. Sorry to bother you.
p.s. I still want my rep comments (good or bad) back. -
Its not like I will die from lack of attention. It was just a nice feature I enjoyed using. I'm sorry if the forum cartels and other people with a high post count got hated on by idiot trolls. (at least thats what I'm guessing based on the amount of dislike some of you pillars of the community seem to have for the rep system) It seems there are two major problems with it. First is that rep is completely anonymous between non-mod users unless you choose to self identify. Second is that the mods are very lenient with the forum rule #16 The Zero Tolerance Policy which I'm sad to say after rereading it some of my comments if taken the wrong way would violate it. I cannot undo whats been done so if I get banned or suspended as a result of this next bit so be it.
Enforce the rules instead of taking away some of the forum functionality. Use that Mod Stick! Abusive forum trolls are immune to flames but not the epic greatclub that is the Mod Stick. -
I miss reading them. I got more constructive criticism out of it than anything which to me was very useful. I didnt know they were disabled till today. I just thought no one was repping my posts. Why is it that people who are offended by something always seem to get whatever offends them removed. Fine I'll play by their game! I'm offended that they're offended and want the removal removed!
rabblerabblerabblerabble.... -
Actually I like this thread because no one takes the suggestions in it too seriously. I've posted two suggestions in here and they haven't gotten anything near what you can usually expect from the suggestions and ideas forum thrown at them. That combined with the OMG a dev read some of the thread pretty much ensures I'll be posting more ideas here. Speaking of which...
I have an idea that combines the desire for a GM that can wreak noticible havoc on an area with the desire for a destructible environment and with the desire for new zones. Mayhem in Suburbia. A zone that is one of the suburbs of Paragon City built from the ground up to be destructible from the street lamps to fire hydrants to the cookie cutter housing everything in the zone can be destroyed. The zone would reset on a set interval. A GM can spawn as part of a zone event and go on a rampage across the suburb. The GM of course can and will destroy houses and anything else it can lay hands on. Or alternatively the DE could take an interest in the zone from time to time and send several of their monsters in to attempt to reclaim the land. Of course Rikti raids must happen there and take full advantage of the zone's destructible environment. Can you imagine a Rikti Dropship doing a bombing run and actually destroying parts of the zone as it traveled. Of course you could take advantage of the non events times and do things like getting a kitteh out of a tree (possibly cutting the tree down in the process, morality possibility there) or rescue citizens from the rubble and wreckage of the last zone event. -
Quote:I personnally dont see this as being unbalanced as long as its in PVE only. A level 50 isnt going to get any xp from using one of those powers. Sure teams might take the time to get all the big explody type powers and simul-nuke a AV but Moments of Awesome like that should be reserved for teams that want to spend the time or money getting those powers. In the end that's what having end game powers like that are about is generating Moments of Awesome.Your suggestions fall solidly in the "too awesome to use" category: once every 50,000 or so mob defeats, you get a one-use "I win" power. I'd go the other direction: a greater variety and frequency of crafted powers. They'd drop often enough that when you use one up, you can count on getting another soon. They'd also be powerful enough to be worth using: attacks that can one-shot a minion or put a solid dent in a boss, armor that gives five minutes of near-immunity to one damage type, and the like.
And for a new suggestion for the thread - Tramp Stamp tattoos for females. -
Some new one time use craftable temp powers. The new ones should use the same drop table as purples and be only be craftable by level 50 characters. I have several ideas so this may be long.
All these powers should have a 50 endurance cost and a much higher target cap more in the range of 32 enemies. You cannot stack these powers so that you have more than one use of any given power. Example: if you already have Pyre of prometheus on you and you craft another Pyre of Prometheus it will replace the one you currently have.
Some greek themed ones:
1. Pyre of Prometheus - 35 ft radius targeted aoe burn patch, 2000 dmg over 10 seconds with a 90% slow
2. Rite of Dyonisus - 50 ft radius pbaoe 90 second confuse
3. Summon Polyphemus - speaks for it self, hope I spelled it right
4. Strength of Hercules - click buff puts you at your AT dmg cap for 20 seconds
Some Tech/science/natural themed ones:
1. Plasma bomb - 35 ft radius time delayed explosion, 5 second delay, 1000 dmg, 50% resistance debuff for 2 minutes, 1000% regeneration debuff for 2 minutes
2. Guass Rifle - once again hope i spelled it right its a railgun, 200ft range snipe, 3000 dmg, mag 75 knockback, mag 10 hold, if its interrupted the power is used up
3. Variable Phase Force Field - Click buff makes character invulnerable for 30 seconds.
They are ridiculous but they also are balanced in that only get that one use and then have to find/buy and then craft another. -
Okay I'll accept the arguement that serum is useful when its active, and can be used for placing useful set IOs. However its usefulness as a power and not a set bonus mule is limited to when its up and running which is 60 seconds out approx 500 seconds when slotted with basic SOs for recharge. That more than 7x its duration in downtime. Am I the only person who see that as a problem?
I still want Gun Drone but I'll be realistic, tweaking Serum to be more useful is much easier and will likely result in a better pleased vs pissed players ratio. -
I get the feeling that you post means "doom on you" but I'm not sure. Could you please clarify your post?
-
I can hear the suggestions forum groaning now. Please replace serum with Gun Drone. I think it would be a huge improvement to merc mms. Of course it might make them go from underpowered to overpowered but I have no data to go by just play experience.
-
Just adding my opinion, I'd like to see serum affect more pets for its recharge or be replaced with gun drone. Actually given preference over the two I'd like to see gun drone more and I dont mean some watered down version of the blaster pet. I want the same gun drone devices blasters get. Just my opinion of course. It would be nice to see a dev opinion on this.
-
I guess I should be more specific on what I'm tweaking the build for, going for increased survivability and moderate damage.
-
Just looking for tweaks to this claws/invuln build. I tried to make it affordable.

Good grief I'm only level 20 and when hasten is up I can alternate between earthquake and stalagmites for controlling most groups. You may be right Local Man, power boost may not be needed but it would be a ton of fun. Of course dropping a few fireballs into a spawn thats helpless for the next minute could be fun too. I'm just gonna have to play it and see. This may be one of those cases that the numbers on the powers won't add up to the total sum of the experience.
So far this toon rocks. -
There are a few specific situations that I would need that level control, romulus phalanx, bad pug, etc... and I'm the type of person who carries backup weapons for my backup weapons in pen and paper rpgs because if I didn't have it I'd need it. To put it in nerd speak I'm the guy who goes on a quest in the forrest and carries a +3 longsword, a +1 silver good aligned shortsword, a +1 cold iron shortsword, a masterwork mace and a masterwork bow with several variants of magic arrows. That not including things in magical storage.

The idea is to post moments from your time in game that a noob corrected or gave you some help. Here's mine:
About a year after CoV came out I'm on a team in cap au diable and someone sets a mission and I for some reason cant find the door. I kept looking for it and didnt have any luck. One of the guys on the team who had no vet badges sends me a tell, "Check the nav bar. The mission is in Port Oaks." Doh >.< -
Luminara, I agree that shivans are awesome but I do have a problem with the idea that they are limitless. While they may be easy to get for you and me there are some people who do not like the pvp zones and wont go in because there is the slightest chance of encountering the lrn2play crowd or whatever their own reason is. My suggested npc teammate while not as powerful would require say a simple trip to Hero Corps and the variety of choices you get would in my opinion outweigh the bruiser that the shivan is.
je_saist, Not everyone likes to or wants to participate in Mothership Raids. On some servers it may not be a choice as a raid may be a once a week thing. More than that the HVAS, which is guilty of making assault bots cry tears of oil in jealousy, is very expensive and eventually it will go away and you will have to buy a new one. Lets not forget that you need to be 35+ in order to buy one as well. No such level limit on my suggestion.
GrinningSpade, I wouldn't simplify the system into rent a thug because the idea is that the npc teammate would have access to the same powersets as players get and would have access to similar powers to what we get our current level. The customizable npc would let you pick and choose the powers they have at the various levels. As a MM player I wouldnt mind having an npc Fire/Pain corruptor tagging along even if at times he acted like a complete noob.
Forbin_Project, why not do both? Make the gladiators into mutually exclusive summons that reset each others timers and limit them to being summoned every 30 minutes. I need to hire me some sheep and teach them to chant "New options good, More new options better."
Sharkbait, Thanks for the rep.
Techbot_Alpha, Sorry if I dredged up bad memories of Fusionette shooting at and aggroing everything on the map and then chasing them everywhere agrroing even more things before being defeated and letting you have all 16 enemies she aggroed. I used some bad examples there. Better examples are hard to come by and I just woke up so I'll think of some more later.
Thanks for the responses everyone. I appreciate the input even if I don't agree with it. I'll be adding and improving on this idea when I have time but probably not until much later today since I have been volunteered to build a doghouse. Never let anyone know you know how to use hand and power tools if you value your weekend. Argh
Edited to fix punctuation. -
Now thats pets zone with you would it be possible to rent a NPC hero to help you with your missions. Kind of like getting Faultline or Fusionette to team with you. There are a couple of things that should be done though.
1. The npc teammate should take a share of the exp and influence you earn.
2. The npc teammate should cost a set amount per unit of time to rent in addition to taking a normal team mates share of the exp.
3. The AI would have to be improved a little bit. Maybe from complete noob to recovering AE junkie. Example the npc teammate would want to leave toggled armors on unless endurance falls below x% at which point he would drop toggles if health was above x% to continue attacking.
4. If the npc teamate dies he respawns in approximately 1 minute 30 seconds. This simulates a trip from the hospital for someone who has a travel power and a resonable load time.
5. If the teammate has click buffs, the AI would use them under the condition that they were not in combat and their teammates were not buffed.
6. To simulate the need to rest and recover the npc should have an increased regenration and recovery rate if they have not attacked or been attacked for 20 seconds. The increase should be enough so that they could be back at full in 45 seconds from 10% health, 65 seconds for full recovery time sounds reasonable and should prevent abusing your npc teammate as cannon fodder.
7. There would need to be a way to alter the AI on the npc teammate to handle different situations. A system similar to wingman commands in flight sims could work: Attack my target - Obvious, Cover me - Attack who ever is attacking me but not neccessarily my target, Break Away - Attack as you please anything in your aggro range. Note that these are not commands, they are just like the tank in a regular team asking you to not aggro before him.
8. You would need to cover multiple archetypes on each side of the game. There are two ways to do this and I think they are not mutually exclusive. The first is to have several premade npc that you can select from. The second is to have an npc shop that will let you make a customized npc teammate for more influence.
9. The npc teammate should also increase the difficulty of the missions being done. Npc teammates should only be allowed to influence the risk vs reward less than a normal teammate.
10. Only 1 npc teammate should be allowed on any team. The team leader should have the option to disable npc teammates. The mission owner is the only person who can have an active npc teammate.
11. Npc teammates are either even con with the player or in the case of a larger team -1 con.
Hope this is detailed enough. Note that unlike controller and MM pets this npc acts like a full teammate with regards to the difficulty of the mission and the rewards gained for defeating enemies. Dont worry about flaming me. I can take aggressive criticism. -
I was working on mids today and nearly fell out my chair when I saw the hold duration I could achieve with a power boosted EMP. Is it actually gonna be useful as a power, for the massive hold, or is it gonna be the most awesome power I never use?
-
Memphis_Bill you just gave me a great idea for a suggestion. Thanks.
Sorry Forbin_Project but the next part of my post wont be near as mature as the last one.
To the OP: Dude what is wrong with you. You last post made very little sense. In the process of trying to read your post I was reminded of the trial of Charles Manson. You post made about as much sense as he did then. Maybe you should go have a chat with him since I'm sure you two will understand each other. He also got mad when someone didn't want to team with him. As a plus for you since I'm sure you have a problem finding a date too, I hear he's good at talking women into things. Just remember Helter Skelter.
Thanks for the correction Captain Photon. I have spent the majority of my day in an attic running cat5 cables for a customer so I'm tired and not playing with a full deck of cards right now. -
I guess I should clarify the intent of the sentence you quoted Memphis_Bill. I was trying to make the point that he should move on to a brand new suggestion thread, hopefully with a different topic and a detailed suggestion. The problem is that the tone of the OP's post is innappropriate for making a suggestion.
Since this is the suggestions forum, I suggest that he start over in this thread stating the exact incentives he suggests be added for teaming and not make comments about what he does or does not like people doing with their time. The fact that he doesn't like people finishing their mission before joining his team or that he doesnt like people hanging out in pocket d should never have been brought up.
Of course even if he does start over it will unlikely change my opinion as I have no problems with teaming as it is.
TL DR version: Thank you for pointing out the flaw in my previous post Memphis_Bill. I have now revised the sentence into the paragraphs above. -
Sorry dude but my thoughts on your suggestion are no as well. My opinion is that the current incentives are enough. Just a suggestion, if you want more incentives to team play a peacebringer/warshade. They directly benefit from having teammates. Oh and dont let people's opinions keep you from coming up with new suggestions.
-
I gotta wonder if I phase and then they phase and then I hit them with dim shift if they unphase or if they go to a different phase.
-
I've worked out my ranges could use some corrections on numbers if I'm wrong. (still at work) My 2 single target mezzes and lift gonna be at around 124ft range. Not gonna use propel due to its range being too short at 93.6ft. My toggles I can get to 109ft. I'm not too sure what the standard pvp set-up is for ranged powers. I'm hoping these ranges will be far enough to keep anyone without a snipe from hitting me.
-
On the build I'm planning out (in my head currently, still at work) I planned on using phase shift for running if someone gets the drop on me and grounds me. Grav/rad is the combo I'm thinkin up. Gives me something pleasant to think about at work.
