I'm a complete outsider here, so this may be a stupid suggestion, but why don't the GG heroes just arrest Tomb? Yes, it's a free game world, but in-character actions are supposed to carry in-character consequences, aren't they?
Because most attempted arrests at GG usually end with the arrestee godmodding their way back out either right then or the next day. Then showing their face at the statue again.

    Need a break :/

Union RP's been feeling like a constant uphill battle lately, what with ignored Open RPs, moronic excuses, general epeen waving and some frankly Richard Craniumed comments, among other things, so I'll be taking a couple of months off.

    Glad you like 'em.

As I've said before, the attribute bar wasn't drawing properly in IE, and misaligns slightly in other browsers, so I've been playing around with using GIFs instead.

The progress I've made so far can be seen in the Sandbox I've set up here.

There is still unresolved stuff in this story. A couple of you have even received pms concerning these details. Any chance this can get cleared up?
Molly's team's now pulled out and ready to fly the dropship away as soon as Chimera's extracted (She trusts Mechano will pull her out, but she's ready to strike back if any funny business is pulled). They'll be taking Britanic to their own sickbays to get detailed scans of him before shipping him off to a regular hospital the next day, as well as submitting their findings. >.>

The events in the hallway from Julia's perspective roared through her head like a bad dream, but Vix managed to blank it out as she absorbed the frantic panic. She'd had worse days. Much worse days, especially in the warzone.
"There...that'll either calm her down, or knock her out...either way the panic should be gone...I hope," she added. "But she'll need someone to talk to, after."
The Chief kept hold of Julia, careful to be gentle with the young woman, while Wolf moved over to help Masha to her feet.
Molly rushed over to Julia as she gradually slipped into a peaceful sleep and moved to take her off the Chief's hands. "Okay, I got her now." Behind her, Masha slowly pushed herself onto her feet with Wolf's help, which she quietly thanked him for. "It's sad, but this is probably the high point of her life, you know? Getting some decent zees and everything."

Sophie? She called out to the dropship. As she did the rest of the team gathered together.

    Yeah, boss? Sophie responded.

    Six to bring home.

...Just six, boss? And hey, still picking up the big bad down there!

Yeah. Chimera's being extracted. Florian's walking.

"WHAT!?" The German yelped as he suddenly stumbled mid-climb onto the stage, to which the pink-clad genius merely glared at him.

"Call in a fifteen-strong medical team to help clean up this mess, then walk home." Molly ordered, somewhat bitterly. " No cabs, no flight, no nothing, just walk. And I want to see you in my office tomorrow noon, or I'm restructuring your sorry butt to the mailroom!"

With that, the entirety of the Stiletto team, sans Florian, plus Julia, began to disappear in a slow flash of light. Of course, not before Molly turned to Vix and added: "Thanks, guys, I owe you three. No, make that five!"

Florian, on the other hand... he was left to do as he was order, silently calling in the medics as he stormed out of the hall.

    *********************
    The skies above Kings Row...

"DON'T scare the crap outta me like that!" Sophie barked before the team even had a chance to get their bearings after being teleported back aboard the Schmidt.

"Sorry," Molly groaned. The genius then leaned over the hacker to take in the sight that was the finished scanning script. In the place of the circle was now a green line pointing from Soap Box's position to a building overlooking the alleyway. "Right, forward that to the PPD and we'll send someone to investigate tomorrow. Whoever was there'll be long gone by now."

"Reckon it was a backup plan on Mechano's part?" Sophie asked. At the other side of the ship, Erica helped Masha and the sleeping Julia find a spot to rest near Britanic.

"Probably, but I wouldn't put it past Partisan either." Molly sighed. "In any case..."

"Oh!" Sophie interrupted. "I, uh, tried to check Captain Faceplant over there, but I think the scanner's broken. Might wanna check it out."

Molly appeared puzzled for a moment before turning to approach the fallen hero. Picking up the tablet from the floor, she attempted to run a scan for herself and garnered the same results as Sophie's, regardless of how much she adjusted the thing.

"Okay, that's real oddball." Molly muttered. "Everything checks out here. He's all nice and healed up and all, but... he's out real cold for I don't know how long."

"Glad to hear, boss." Sophie yelped back, her attention fixed to the scanner screen. "The, err, fact that it wasn't anything I was doing wrong, I mean. The coma thing... not so glad."

"Right," Molly uttered, rolling her eyes at Sophie. "Pilot, head back to the tower as soon as Sophie can report Chimera gone. We'll take a closer look at him at the sickbay before we consider sending him to a regular hospital and passing on our findings. Masha and Julia could use a ward bed too."

    *********************

    "Let's get out of here..."

    ((And that's Molly out.))
  11. I'm starting to think the EXCharacterBox's attribute box in its current form just isn't going to work out. The more I fiddle with it in the hopes of IE drawing it properly, the more IE wants to do its own damn thing, and more it's becoming apparent that the attribute bars aren't quite lining up right in the more standards-compliant browsers either.

Basically, it's becoming more trouble than it's worth, so I'm left with a few necessary evils:

    A) Cut it out entirely - not something a lot of you peeps that have adopted the new box would be too happy about

    B) Drop the bars approach and go for numbers.

ON THE PLUS SIDE, I did manage to get rid of the bevelling in IE. Thank flip.

At the very least until someone's brave enough make or nick a template to do it, like the one Wikipedia has, because I'm not feeling it yet. :\

Just stick the gobbledegook below in the Age field within your character box and replace the stuff in the rounded brackets, those brackets included, with their respective details.

    All numbers.

Months are in a 2-digit format, so for January, instead of entering 1, you'd enter 01 instead.

That doesn't apply to days - if it's less than 10, make it 1-digit.

    Full 4-digit year, thank you.

    {{#ifexpr: {{CURRENTMONTH}} = (birthmonth) | {{#ifexpr: {{CURRENTDAY}} < (birthday) | {{#expr: {{CURRENTYEAR}} - 1 - (birthyear)}} | {{#expr: {{CURRENTYEAR}} - (birthyear)}} }} | {{#ifexpr: {{CURRENTMONTH}} < (birthmonth) | {{#expr: {{CURRENTYEAR}} - 1 - (birthyear)}} | {{#expr: {{CURRENTYEAR}} - (birthyear)}} }} }}

And yes, I am aware that this is about as elegant as a wet fart, but it works for now.
This is now a Template. Now all you have to do is stick the following into the age field of your character boxes:

    {{CharacterAge | birthday = XX | birthmonth = XX | birthyear = XXXX}}

    Same numbering rules apply.

    Anyway:

In the blue corner (left), Internet Exploder. In the red corner, Firefox. Firefox is displaying the box, along with the attibute meters properly, where as IE insists on trying to bevel EVERYTHING, ignoring some of the font formatting and just doing what it likes with the attributes.

The old one's still there, don't worry.
Unfortunately, it's turned out that the template doesn't quite draw properly in IE8, and I've still yet to find a solution to the problem that doesn't involve me suggesting those still using IE get a better browser. Crud.

She started to panic. No matter how hard she struggled, she was too weak to break free, even when she went as far as kicking her feet about. An exercise in futility.

    Then she started screaming.

"Let me GOOOOOOOO!!!" she shrieked as she continued to try her utmost best to squirm her way out of the Chief's grasp. "LET ME GO LET ME GO LET ME GO..."

    *******************
Though Masha was no longer wounded, a combination of shock, fear and simple diziness kept her pinned to the floor. The Russian simply laid there, staring at the tiny bean-like device laying next to her in an equally tiny puddle of her own blood while she tried to compose herself. Not an easy thing to do when someone you went out of your way to help shoots you in the head. Nevertheless, she tried, keeping her attention fixed on what remained of her monitor in an effort to ignore distraction.

Suddenly she felt her ears come under seige from a piercing scream up ahead. Julia. She couldn't ignore that. The robot had seemingly done the right thing in trying to restrain her, but he hadn't seemed to have taken the possibility of her current reaction into account.

As if the bullet wasn't enough, Masha felt a new headache coming on.

Julia needed to be put on mute and the Stiletto agent knew just the ticket. Lazily, she reached out for the busted device and picked it up by her fingers.

"Guuuuuuyyyyssss!" she groaned, still not feeling a hundred percent and that number started to drop once more. "GUUUUUUUYYYSSS! Use this on... on her!"

There should still be one or two more opportunities, to be of help, Devious. Masha's still got one more thing he could assist with.

Vix and Julia are separate chars. Julia shot Masha and Vix rushed to help Masha.

    "Move!"
It wasn't so much a word as a spoken and mental order to the reptile, the doctors eyes already glowing as she skidded onto her knees beside Masha. She cradled the fallen woman carefully, hissing between her teeth as she inspected the wound.
"This is gonna take a bit..." she muttered, before resting her fingertips gently on the skin.

The wound began to knit and mend instantly, skin and bone repairing as if in fast-motion, blood multiplying to restore that which was lost. Eventually, it was as if the wound had never been there.
Vix slowly slumped onto her back, breathing as if she had just run a marathon, clutching at her arms like they had just been put through a blender. In the upside down view she had, she spotted Julia, making her way towards the stage. She could feel the fury there, the driving urge, no, need to kill.
"Chief!" she managed to shout, or at least croak loudly.
Fortunately the Kaarinian Hero had sensetive audio receptors, turning to first Vix then, when she gestured weakly, Julia.
"Friend of yours?" he asked Molly as he strode past her, en route to intercept the glassy eyed young woman approaching them.
"Huh?" Molly glanced behind her to see what the Chief was on about when she caught sight of Julia on the approach. Her eyes were fixed on The Pink One as she attempted to storm past the scene on the stage, either oblivious to everything that went on or ignorant. It was hard to tell. "Julia! Oh my gosh, are you okay?"

"...Monster..." Julia simply uttered as she continued her approach.

"...Julia?" Molly asked again. Something wasn't right. She looked around quickly. Who was the monster she was talking abou- "Oh. Aw nuts. Stop her! Don't hurt her, just stop her!"

    *********************
    The skies above Kings Row...

"Aaaand... yes!" Sophie hissed again. The teleporter successfully locked on to the signature and started to beam it aboard while the hacker triggered a script on the wireframe map and rushed to dig out the dropship's First Aid Kit while it ran. "Right, let's see what the hell's up with you, buddy!"

The Katana chief turned back round to be greeted by the fallen and unconscious Britanic on the dropship floor. "Okay, -not- quite where I wanted you to land, but it'll do."

Crawling over, Sophie then proceeded to fight with a small tablet-like device in her efforts to scan the hero. "Ooookay... let's see... this doesn't make any sense. No sign of injury at all!? Jesus on a jetski, I've gotta be screwing this up."

Sophie tapped a few buttons on the device's touchscreen and tried again. Same result. No sign of injury.

"...NOT MAKING ANY SENSE, DAMN YOU!!" Sophie screamed at the device before calming herself down with a few deep breaths. "I'd suck as a field medic."

"Yes!" Sophie hissed, quietly and victoriously as she continued hammering away at the touchscreen. "One big-***** Negative Energy signature found, attempting lock!"

Molly pinched the bridge of her nose as she listened. What a load of bull!

"Spare me the speeches already!" Molly then snapped, herself appearing far more enraged than she ought to be. "There're only a few words to describe Doctor Edward Mechano and you know what they are? Madman! Insane! A total off-his-rocker sicko hellbent on causing as much chaos, panic and disorder as he damn well pleases, and as long as he's not rotting in deepest, darkest corner of the Zig, a constant threat to everyone's lives!"

The now-angry hero then looked around momentarily, showing quite some concern for Vix's condition and casting a cold glare at Mister Rogers before returning her attention to the Mechano crowd.

"There's no compassion or bravery here. Not tonight. You just dropped your deadliest and most destructive weapon in here to murder a bunch of... -unarmed- men and women! And in a hall full of innocent members of the public as well! That's just cowardice. That's -BEYOND- cowardice."

Molly then threw her rifle to the floor and slowly approached the stage.

"Lilly, Splitter, stand down and go find Masha. Make sure she's okay." She quietly ordered. The two of them looked at each other, somewhat confused, but they complied nonetheless and soon disappeared round the back. Molly then looked at Mechano's goons once more.

"I'll let you go this time. You've got what you wanted, even if Daddy's Little Angel didn't get to deal the killing blow. The man you were after? Just got himself well done out the back."

Molly took another look around, brushing her hair away from her face before continuing: "You got what you wanted, but guess what? Humanity First just got what they wanted too. I hope that makes Old Fart Eddie happy, giving his enemies more fuel for their fire. Giving those misguided morons a fresh excuse to make every metahuman and non-human's life hell, innocent or otherwise. I hope that makes him feel -real- fuzzy inside. I bet he's feeling proud of himself today, isn't he? Get the hell out of my sight."

Having gotten her point across, she then turned for the nearest exit, but stopped herself just short of her first step out of there.

"Oh, and one more thing. A personal message for the bad doc himself." Molly piped up, glancing to the few HF recruits remaining. "I suggest you both start writing this down pronto. I'm coming for you, Mechano. I will do everything in my power to hunt you, find you and -bury- you, you got that? Start preparing for the inevitable."

Molly then turned back to the exit and crouched to collect her gun, picking it up by the barrel before storming off.

"Start by praying. See where that gets you. That goes for Partisan too."

Imagine thus his surprise when the gunshot sounded and he didn't feel any pain associated therewith. He blinked, head snapping about to look at the source. What the heck has just happened? Who else was still around here to shoo-?

"Oh, hell no!" he exclaimed in shock and anger at seeing Masha's form and the wielder of - quite literally - the smoking gun, whom he immediately attempted to get a hold of by snapping a detention field around her, "You are kidding me! Did someone drop a crazy bomb and I didn't get the memo, or are you people just bonkers by default?!"

"Yo!" he shouted out into the alley at Alphaea and Hailey, "Tweedle Dum an' Tweedle Dee! If you're not gonna move to get out of a sniper's LOS, can ya at least do it to fetch'n ambulance?!"

Both the Mobile Microwave and the man who took off with the arm of Soap Box forgotten for now, the Khelari moved swiftly to Masha's side, snatching something from an inside pocket of his jacket on the way, and placed a hand on the woman to try and assess her condition in detail. He outright ignored Julia for now - unless she'd managed to evade the detention field and kept shooting, of course. In that case, he'd protect both Masha and himself with another wall of force. Either way though, the shot hero was his prime concern.

What had the bullet managed to do...?
Masha laid face-down on the floor. The shock of seeing Julia pull a gun on her and open fire did more to keep her frozen than the open flesh wound below her right ear - thank goodness she heard Julia's mutterings in time to look behind her, ruining the girl's chance of a lethal headshot.

Fear and the horrific realisation that the shy girl in the canteen, the one who consider Masha her closest friend, tried to kill her did more to make her breathing almost impossible than the non-fatal but otherwise still nasty-looking wound that girl just dealt her.

"No more monster..." Julia quietly chimed. Despite losing her gun to the strange reptile's field, she seemed to be under the impression that Masha was on Death's door. Assuming she had gotten what she wanted from the Russian, she simply proceeded to skip past the reptile.

One monster down, another five to go. Find something to kill them with.

You'd be surprised at what mundanes are truly capable of, girl. Masha thought to herself, ignorant of a lone figure that stepped up behind her as she re-entered the building and pointed a small revolver at Masha's head, a look of morbid determination on this new would-be assailant's face.

I think not, so I strongly suggest lowering that forcefield right now, mister!"

    Agent: M. Romanenko
    Callsign: Mashup
    WARNING: FLATLINE...

Sophie looked on in horror as the words flashed up on screen in a bold, bright red font, burning its morbid alert into her memory like a powerful laser.

"No..." Sophie uttered, the first tears streaming down her eyes as she rushed to regain contact with the operative. "Masha? Are you there? Masha?! MASHA, PICK UP!! PICK UP, DAMN YOU!!"

    No answer.

Screw it, Sophie. Job to do. Call Molly.

"B-boss?" the hacker stammered, barely containing her panic over Masha's flatline. She new that it didn't necessarily mean her death - maybe she just lost her monitor device somehow. "M-M-Masha just flatlined... I c-can't..."

Dammit! Molly yelled over the two-way connection. Okay... I need... uh... okay... I need your help. We've got a fallen cape here, and I don't know if he's okay or not. I need you to try and beam him to safety, okay?

"A-any idea who i-it is? Just so I can... can figure out what to lock onto, you know?"

Does the name Britanic ring any bells?

    "Y-yeah... I'll see what I can do..."

Great. And Sophie? Don't worry too much about Masha. She's not the sorta person to just drop dead without a damn good fight.

Sophie slammed a finger down onto a key to disconnect the call and, doing her best to put aside her concerns for Masha, turned her attention back to the wireframe map.

"Alright," she muttered, wiping the tears away from under her eyes and silently wishing herself the best of luck in finding Britanic's body. "Let's find us some negative energy traces, shall we?"

Nope, nope, nope and nope. In the one case I mentioned, it was him against one of Stryke's characters (Khan) in Warburg in an RP battle, whom I think it was safe to say Pious knew very well was going to floor The Priest no matter which alt or how many he was going to throw at him that night.
Hint: Always assume Stryke is going to cream you. Why? Because he most likely will. o_O

If anything, the events that played out that night seemed to be just for dramatic effect and little more, considering he chose to kill off the character on the hospital bed Khan sent him to the next day. A one-off event that'll probably never happen for another few years, if at all.
