  1. *claps hands together loud enough to wake up the whole buggering forum*

    RIGHT!

Forum's set up, the link's right near the end of page 1, but still: http://s1.zetaboards.com/RAPIER , there's a couple of threads in there, feel free to comment if you feel something needs tweakage or anything.

Updated the Handbook page as much as I could tonight before I ended up confuzzling myself, Bolt got Grimface into the SG, and if anyone knows anyone with a char that would suit RAPIER, feel free to tell them the poke me either ingame or via these forums, because that'd kinda help.
  2. Happy Birthday Tyger!

Actually, funny thing is, I'd have thought Defender (the character) was owned by Hero Games. Maybe they never bothered.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If Wikipedia's beleived (uh...) Cryptic bought the whole Champions IP - not just the rights, the whole... flipping... intellectual property, the PnP game and everything - and sold the rights to publish the 6th Edition of the PnP game back to Hero Games.

    In a word: o_o'
In more: Cryptic own the Defender character proper.

    Screenshots

The only trick I know works is this:

Hit Print Screen. Yes, CoX won't save a screenshot, but Windows will take a screenshot and slap it onto the clipboard. Then fire up the image editor of your choice (Even MSPaint if you don't have anything else), paste the clipboard contents and save the image wherever. It worked for me before, when I needed to remember the scales of one of my characters.

I think what Rapier is missing (and someone hit on it in the GGOOC channel) is a purpose, a driving principal that guides them. Currently it's Longstaff owned, security force and before that a US sponsored military outfit which is good but they need an enemy or rival to fight (GGOOC suggestion was a team-mate who wanted Rikti-spanking). So the two groups could be some kind of civil defense program, one of which is to help fight off Rikti but they just happen to be able to take out other threats too (although several threats are Rikti in origin anyway like the Hydra and Lost).

I might see if some of my main's groups have alts they'd like to try out for these groups, since they've got the TF thing going for them

    [/ QUOTE ]

    *poke*

Yay for trying to juggle several things. >_<

I'm all for the fighting Rikti focus, I could go for that.

Uh *thinks* RAPIER deals focusses on the Rikti threat more while Stiletto focusses on other threats more or both focussing on the Rikti while dealing with lesser problems in the City?

Since when is TP prompt on by default?

It was on by default when I started CoX (Nov/Dec 2007).

    Cyborg Auras?

They should be immediately available as soon as you've done the City Rep's mission to unlock Auras in the first place. Once that's done, and you've applied the Cyborg Pack code to your account, just pop to Icon and look under Aura, find Combat Aura in among the different types (the first list full of Electric etc) and it should be close to, if not bang on at the top of the list.

If it isn't, then there's a problem. In which case poke support.
  8. Happy birthday!

  9. Well, they were already going to be less 'army boy', given that the original intention was to gear it more to investigation etc.

Of course that -could- change, so we'll see.
  10. It works like regular Teleport, only with a shorter range, and carries any teammate within a small radius of your starting position with you. So where Teleport would just take you from point A to point B, Team Teleport would take you and whoever is both in your team and close to you from point A to point B instead.

    Hope that was clear enough.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
    Are you thinking "Military" again?

    [/ QUOTE ]

R.A.P.I.E.R would remain Military-esque, Stiletto on the other hand would pretty much be more geared toward casual outfits at worst.
  12. Right, despite my efforts, life conspired against me in various ways, including keyboard-borkage and burnout, and the R.A.P.I.E.R SG kinda went silent. Too silent.

I want to give the SG another boot up the backside again, so I could really do with some help here. I could do with not having to handle just about everything, you know. >.>

I could do with members having their say about what happens concerning the SG, which hadn't happened last time and left me doing very little for a month because I was worried about going ahead with a decision that would force most to pull out.
That's open for discussion anyway, and if in the end I do adopt a more "Like it or get out!" approach to running things it'll be your fault.

Secondly, I got the idea of setting up another SG to act as another division of Molly.EXE's company, Longstaff WarTech. Stiletto would serve as the division handling the corporation's internal affairs which, given this is Longstaff, isn't totally internal. I formed it tonight with Crash Leadfoot and will be getting Mashup in there too, but it's an idea that could work with other peoples' chars in it as well, so why not expand on it?

SO! I kinda plan on getting the following done:

    1) Setting up a forum for both SGs and any future ones, which I reckon would help a great deal better then a single thread that constantly falls to page two and leaves about 2 people discussing -everything- on an ingame channel that otherwise never gets touched. Then again there'e the chance nobody will register despite constant harassment to do so, like what happened when I tried to run a Guild Wars guild.
    2) Bin the Rapier channel and set up a new one to accomodate both SGs and future ones. Makes sense.
    3) Attack Merrow with a cattle prod. (I kid, I kid)
    4) Work on getting some new peeps in. (Because there's only like what, 3 peeps bothering at the moment?)

What d'ya reckon so far? >.>

GALAXY APARTMENT DESTROYED BY UNEXPLAINED DARK CLOUD
Many of Galaxy City's residents will have noticed the damage to one of Freedom Court's many buildings today, caused by what appeared to be a strange black cloud that appeared seemingly out of nowhere and disappeared within seconds, but not without making its presence known. The cloud wiped out the apartment belonging to one Richie Stacker, who operates as a hero within Paragon City, leaving nothing behind, not even its floor or cieling. It is not certain whether the cloud has destroyed the contents of the apartment or simply teleported them elsewhere.

Mr. Stacker was available to comment, however what little comment he offered is unfortunately unprintable.

  16. "Okay, Molly," Richie piped up in the hallway of his apartment, away from Isabella. "What the hell were you playing at?" Molly, herself leaning against a wall with her arms crossed, seemed reluctant to answer. "Well?"

"You mean the whole 'let's detain her' thi-"

"Yeah." Richie cut in. "The whole 'Oh, let's ignore that she's just thrown herself out of one prison and is completely scared half to death, let's toss her into another one' thing." Molly facepalmed.

"Okay, okay, it was kinda stupid of me, alright?"

"Yeah..." Richie answered, prompting Molly to look at him through the gap between her index and middle fingers.

"Rub it in, why don't you..." she muttered as she pulled her hand away, "I'm sorry, okay? I guess I kinda had my 'commander head' screwed on there, if you know what I mean."

"Commander... head?" Richie raised a brow. Molly, on the other hand, couldn't keep her laughter in for very long, but managed to keep her trademark giggling quiet.

"Yeah, it's been a totally messy month, you know?"

    "Right... anyway..."

"What are you gonna do with her?" Molly asked. All Richie could do was shrug.

"I've no idea, to be honest. Although something tells me it's going to involve a shedload of paperwork..." Molly frowned at Richie's, who responded with a raised brow. "...What, Molly?"

"Well..." Molly tried to answer without annoying Richie again. "Don't you wanna know why she was in there?" Now it was Richie's turn to frown.

"Yeah, but there's an easy way to find out."

    "And that's..."

"Talking to her." Richie's comment simply made Molly roll her eyes.

"You already tried that, haven't you?"

"Yeah..." Richie scratched his head. Molly raised a brow at him. "Okay, she says she can't remember much."

"Right... I'd suggest getting her checked out at the lab, buuut... this is all magic stuff, I doubt I'd find mu..." Molly stopped herself and facepalmed. "There I go again! Okay, I'm shutting up now!" Richie couldn't help but laugh.

"Don't worry. You're probably right. I know someone who might be able to, though."

    "Who's that?"

    "Shadowcrash."

    --------------

    Several days later...

Selina Barton stared at the cup for some time, deep in thought. When she finally returned to the land of the living, she prompty downed the remaining contents, before placing it onto her desk. As her hands left the cup, it swiftly faded from existence in front of Richie's eyes. The cup wasn't real, Richie was certain of that. As much as he was certain the woman called Shadowcrash wasn't among the living.

"Damn, Richie." Shadowcrash announced as she watched the cup disappear. "You really have that knack for getting yourself into some crazy situations, don't you?" Richie facepalmed. That wasn't what he wanted to hear from his tutor after he railed off everything he could to explain his situation. "Okay, okay... I think it's safe to say you did -a- right thing by coming to me, I guess."

"For once." Richie answered as he rolled his eyes. Making the right choices wasn't quite his strong suit - if the past eight months working in Paragon taught him anything useful, it was most certainly that. Shadowcrash frowned at Richie. He could never do a good job of hiding his frustration at his past mistakes or the fact that he was doubting his own abilities more and more by the day.

    "Will you stop that?"

"Stop what?" Richie blinked at Selina's sudden response.

"That. That whole 'I suck!' attitude you've had since you started coming here. It's starting to get on my nerves... well, if I still had nerves, it would, but it's... you get the idea."

    "Well, it's ju..."

"AH-AH-AH!!" Shadowcrash cut in before Richie could continue, before placing an elbow on her desk and resting her head on her fist. "Richie, lemme put it this way, if you truly sucked you wouldn't have lived long enough to run into those Malta goons the other week. Am I right, or am I right?"

"I suppose..." Richie muttered. Shadowcrash rolled her eyes.

    "Am... I... right?"

    "I could ha..."

"RICHARD STACKER!!" Selina bellowed. He voice must have echoed across the whole of Salamanca's campus.

"YES!" Richie yelped in shock as he fell backward in his chair. It wasn't every day she got ticked off, and when she did, boy did you know about it. "You're right, okay, okay, okay!"

"Good." she said with a smirk. "Now, here's what I'm gonna do. I'll be in the city in a few days, so I'll pop by your place and have the girl checked out. Sounding good, so far?"

"Aye..." Richie was still trying to pick himself up from the floor as he answered.

"Great. Anything else?" By the time she asked, Richie was finally on his feet.

    "Not that I know of."

"So why are you still here?" Shadowcrash asked with a raised brow and a smile as she reached for a full cup of coffee that had somehow appeared on the desk. She had said it in jest, but she was pretty much right. There was nothing else to discuss, and there was little point in Richie staying there much longer. Richie made a hasty exit, muttering something to himself. As soon as he was gone, Selina took a sip from the new cup, before sitting back and staring at the cieling.

    ...

"Like a damn broken record, that kid."
  17. Well, think! What's your char? An alien? A human? A demon? A catgirl from another universe? Any excuse could be applied to aquiring Group Fly to the above and more. You just have to use your noggin!

Your origin doesn't necessarily have to affect EVERY power choice, so a Natural character could, as an example, have come across a spell that allows the effects of Group Fly.

I just think carrying somebody else is more realistic than causing them to fly by being in your vacinity.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That depends on your character concept, a magic hero/villain may use a spell to grant those nearby flight, or a technology origin may use an anti-gravity generator and set it to a large field to encompas nearby allies. And so on and so forth.

    [/ QUOTE ]
and what about natural, what if your creature is able to fly naturally, then what?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Then you can either find an excuse or just don't take it. :\

Ok, so, I don't mean to upset anyone, but seeing as it's an issue outwith NCSoft's control and it's not your fault, should you really be giving out free game-time at all? I applaud the giving of the free game time, it's a very welcome gesture but ever so slightly unfair to those people who are paying for the same time these people are getting for free.

Pardon me to be the doomsayer.

    [/ QUOTE ]

How is this unfair? A lot of just nearly lost the ability to play with barely any warning until the OP found out the hard way!

  21. The girl sat on Richie's sofa, still near as good as the day he bought it, her tiny legs dangling over the floor and a glass of filtered water in her hands. Richie sat opposite on the floor, assuming a lotus position on the floor.

"So... you, erm, up for explaining what you are exactly?" Richie enquired. The girl looked up at Richie briefly before starting at her glass once more.

"I-I..." the girl stuggled to answer coherently.

"Well," Richie cut in. "What's your name, for a start?" The girl blinked at Richie again.

"I-I... it's been so... so long. I-I can't..." The girl suddenly noticed something on her arm. Scars from long ago, but not like any normal scars. Upon closer inspection, they appeared to form the name Isabella, which she then informed Richie of.

"Isabella, huh?" Richie pondered for a moment, "Wouldn't that kind of mean that..."

"Y-yes, I-I was human on... once... I-I think..." Richie raised a brow.

"So how'd you manage to get into..."

"I-It was long a...ago. I-It is difficult to... to remember everything that has h-happened. A-all I remember is... is that it w-was not my ch-choice. I-I was imprisoned against my... my will."

"Any idea how long?" The girl shook her head at Richie's question.

"Four... Four... Fourteen..." Isabella struggled to remember the exact year, before finally giving up. As soon as she did, she clutched her glass as tightly as possible, bursting into tears on the sofa. Richie sighed as he got to his feet and stepped over to the girl.

"Okay, there's no rush, okay?" Richie tried his best to calm Isabella, who by now was curling up into as tight a ball as possible. "...Okay... I won't as any more stupid questions, okay?" Eventually, she calmed down slightly, but was still somewhat tearful.

    "I-I... I cannot remember..."

"Just... just don't worry about that now... I mean, the important thing is you're free again, right?" By that point, Molly returned to Richie's door, still wearing her trademark nanotech suit.

"Okay, I've had -NO- luck whatsoever, so I'm just gonna..." Molly stopped herself as soon as she noticed Richie trying to calm Isabella. "Ah." Richie raised a brow at Molly, before turning back to Isabella.

"I'll be back in a bit, think you can manage calming down a little more while I'm gone?" Richie half-joked, but Isabella nodded nonetheless. Richie then stepped past the girl and approached Molly, appearing somewhat bemused at her. "Okay, I want a word with you..."

    -----

    I... HAVE... FAILED...

The deep booming voice continued to repeat itself for some time, before it finally announced something else to itself.

    ISABELLA... MUST... RETURN...

    -----

Up until the first instance of Richie's troubles with Thin Air, he beleived nothing else existed in there besides whatever he sent there himself. Even with all of Richie's stuff, as well as the prisoner Isabella herself back into this world, Thin Air remained far from empty...

Within the void resided something far greater. A gargantuan construction that remained fixed in the same spot. Fixed to the same spot for centuries and will continue to do so. This strange construction resembled a fortress of sorts. However, this fortress was not contructed from any of the usual materials, it's 'stones' appearing smooth as a diamond, yet black as coal. In fact, every part of it was just... black. Even the grass surrounding seemed to be as black as it could get. Within the walls of this 'obsidian fortress' a pale-skinned, black-haired woman, dressed in a plain black dress, stormed into one of its many halls, completely empty, save for a single altar, matching the void-black of the rest of the fortress.

Isabella must return... The thought ran through this woman's mind repeatedly as she made her way toward the altar.
Isabella must return... those that freed her must pay... The woman then reached the altar, holding out both her hands. After a while, a dark, cloud swirled into existence beneath her hands. Once more, the woman spoke. However, her human voice gradually distorted into the deep booming voice as she uttered her next sentence:

    "They... must... PAY..."
  22. Irene Trenz slammed the paper down onto her desk and began rubbing her forehead.

"Which imbecile thought this up?" She muttered to herself. "I could pull a far better excuse for an ad from my..." Irene sighed as she took another glance at the paper. Well, it's out there now, nothing I can do at this point, she thought to herself. Beside complaining to Miss Longstaff about this... chances are she probably thought it up herself, though...

Irene sat silent for a while, collecting her thoughts on the matter of the advertisment, before finally reaching for her phone, yanking the receiver from the base unit and hammering in a number. After a short wait, she got an answer.

"Hello? Is that Longstaff WarTech? Good, good... I'd like a word with Miss Longstaff, please. I don't care, I wish to speak with her now."
