(Thought I'd responded to this...)
But yeah... I don't even know the first thing about using IRC outside of using Pidgin to get to a channel. :\ -
Thin Air
On the other side of the portal was the pocket dimension Thin Air, a seemingly empty void bereft of anything at all, barring Richie's own apartment, which was previously torn from his world. Looking outside its windows or even the many holes left in its walls revealed that the apartment was now resting on seemingly solid ground, a field of what appeared to be pitch-black grass surrounding the structure ahead.
"Well, that's our destination, kid." Shadowcrash announced as she squinted at the obsidian fortress ahead. Richie stood some distance behind her, keeping his left hand in the portal as he tried to see the fortress for himself. Literally 'holding the door open' as he promised.
"Looks proper dead as a dodo." Richie piped up. "You're deffo sure we couldn't have just done this alone? I mean, these guys could get a little tetchy if they came here expecting a monster job and only seeing a 6 minute suckfest, you know?"
"Trust me, Richie," the ghost responded. "This is in no way gonna be a six-min-suckfest if we're not careful." -
Okay, after an event that I outright refuse to go any further into before anyone gets any ideas, I decided to put together some logos for a few SGs I run. Okay, admittedly they are mainly just a bit of text making use of one or two free fonts with a GIMP filter run over one or two parts (although in some cases that's omitted) but... they look good, I reckon.
Anyway (I would have just posted this in the RP forum since they were really for the Union Handbook) if anyone needs a logo for their SG, be it for the Union Handbook or for something else CoX-related... just poke me and I'll see what I can do. Just don't expect a masterpiece, okay? >_>
Examples:
Longstaff WarTech, my AR/Dev Blaster's corporation
RAPIER, one division of the aforementioned corp and an SG on Union
Stiletto, another division and SG
Rescuer Records, my MA/WP scrapper's Record label
Wrong section? Well, I did ask a few peeps about it first and it was suggested I post here, so... :\ -
See peeps are making edits again, so... just for the sake of certainty:
"Is it safe?" /marathonman

A fully-kitted-out Molly rushed up to a position next to Sean's chaser and fired off her boots.
"Okay, okay, okay! Moving!" she yelled as she lifted herself a few inches from the floor. -

Sorry, i think the ironic humour of that comment has been lost on you, because, y'know, that's what WE'RE doing

I just got up. My excuse. >_> <_<

Start by talking to Gordon Bower, who'll be at Salamanca Uni. Do his missions and he'll introduce you to Skipper LeGrange, who in turn will introduce you to Kelly Nemmers.
Kelly Nemmers will eventually point you to Buck Salinger, who will, after you finish his missions, introduce you to Katie Hannon herself. -

Shame you're not going with the original idea of a chatroom, text or otherwise, i wouldn't of minded getting Eve in on it, as part of her 'education' involves being connected into the internet.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, a text-based chatroom would have just been a bit... Meh, if you ask me, and I'm not entirely certain if a chatroom like in GitS would even happen in CoX's world. Look at most of the civilian computers, most of which still make use of old CRT monitors and show what look like your mundane old HTML sites on them. Hence the idea of going for the Second Life-esque MMO thing.
[ QUOTE ]
But where the fun in RPing a bunch of geeks playing an MMO?
[/ QUOTE ]
Change of pace? An excuse not to blow **** up or not see **** blown up for once? Seeing what the civilian masses think of the nutjob? :S -
*Waves a large banner about that reads "Congratulations!"*

He always seem to fly when I see him... even when walking would be more normal...(On TV I mean...) Now Clark Kent walks but then this isn't City of Some Random Reporter!
[/ QUOTE ]
Bad example, but he has in fact used his feet on more occasions than there are days in the year. In his Superman guise.
What about Batman? Cyclops? Hell, even The Shadow? Don't see them being able to perma-run like everyone's characters seem prefectly capable of, right?
What about having the ability to get to a spot just outside aggro range of you? Or even just chilling in PD? Run around any nightclub in this world and you're guaranteed to be dropkicked out the door, you know.
Need I rail off any more excuses for a walking option? -
[ QUOTE ]
There is one animation for walk which relies on the size of the NPC that is walking, if you make the NPC bigger you'd need a faster/slower animation (I forget which). Ergo for players it would be extremely difficult with the current animation system. Perhaps in the future if they update the engine it might be possible but TBH I don't think they'll update the engine to allow people to be 'less' super...

So Superman doesn't walk? o_O'
Just saying. -
Okay, so I've got an idea for an Open RP thread, one which for once would have little to no fighting whatsoever, and even if their was it'd hopefully remain purely verbal.
So the idea's based on an episode of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (The Complex Episode "Chat! Chat! Chat!") which takes place almost entirely in a cyberspace chatroom with everyone discussing the subject of the Laughing Man.
Now, my idea would be everyone discussing Dr. Mechano's recent antics, and initially was just going to be a mundane physical-world room full of civilians forming part of some club whose primary focus is discussing stuff like this, but Omy suggested in GGOOC that I have it in an online game, like Z's recent thread.
Okie dokie, so... how should I go about it? I'm assuming even with all the reversed-engineered Rikti and other such supertechnocrap in CoX's world, the Internet would be almost as lame as it is in the real world today, if not equally, right? And if so, how possible could it even be to have something like this in an MMO? Okay, we've got Second Life out there, but I was hoping to stick with characters chatting vocally. Logic (or at least my oddball form of it) would dictate that not everyone's gonna be in a position to use voice chat, even in CoX's world, correct?
(Maybe I'm thinking too much into this... )
[EDIT] In case everything said in this post has completely gone over the heads of everyone who's read this thread I'll narrow it down to this: LOOKING FOR ADVICE ON THIS SORT OF THING BEFORE I END UP MAKING A MAJOR SCREWUP SOMEHWERE AND FINDING MYSELF GETTING MY GROIN STEPPED ON.
^(Also for those incapable of reading posts properly) -
"A few seconds, man" Richie answered as she held his arms out to the sides slightly. "Hang on..." Richie then closed his eyes, what appeared to be a dark mist forming under the lens.
The lens then glowed an eerie purple, causing the mist to explode into a large orb, big enough to engulf two people completely at a time.
"Right, there's the flamin' way in, if you're still for this... I'll be holding the door open." Richie then casually strolled into the orb, failing to come out of the other side. Shadowcrash watched before rolling her eyes.
"Well, you heard the man." She added before rushing in herself. -
Ditto that. I'm not sure there's really that many legit changes in the past couple of days that are gonna be lost anyhoo, is there?
-
I think he means leaning to the side, in the direction you want to turn. Kinda like how a plane leans to the side to turn in the air. Sorta.
...
Right? -
((Woah, this is getting a bit... o_O))
Right before Calm confronts Ed...
Momo slowly started to hate herself as she continued to get some distance from the warehouse, having shuffled away quietly, not really caring if anyone had seen her leave. She needed to get away from there and that's exactly what she did. To hell with anyone who had a problem, in her opinion.
"I need to get out of this stupid city..." she thought to herself as she kept her attention on her own shaking hands rather than the path ahead. Going back to Fukuoka right now seemed a better idea than staying here. -
Ack! Everyone whose out of the game for whatever reason are gonna be proper shafted, aren't they? o_o'

Understatement of the milennium. Then again, everything appropriate I can think off just isn't appropriate for here. :\
Seriously though... WTH? -
"We could always get Mr. Boneblade to provide the distraction." Shadowcrash joked. "How're you doin' with that, Richie?"
"Aye, gimme a flamin' sec, willya?" Richie barked back, before continuing with whatever it was he was doing. -
"Just whatever works for you," Richie piped up as he pulled what looked like some kind of lens from his jacket and laid it on the ground in front of him. "In all honesty I doubt anyone besides those directly involved in this are really gonna give a flyer, ya reckon?"
-
Shadowcrash nodded as Richie grumbled to himself, fishing into his jacket for something.
"That we are!" Shadowcrash answered with a slight wave, before turning back to Hellskeeper. "How does a crazy-lookin' goth chick that -probably- knows a lot of magic kung fu sound?" -
Momo simply stood on the spot as she stared at the fallen Maniacal, her hands shaking as her bow disappeared in a burst of flame.
"What... what the hell did I just do?" Momo muttered to herself. Although a bow - potentially lethal if in either the right or the wrong hands - was her weapon of choice, up until this point, she'd made an effort to avoid killing anyone with it, despite whatever chaos could possibly distract her. Yet somehow, she lost that control, and now the result of her own failure to maintain it was in plain view right in front of her.
As she kept her eyes fixed on the corpse in front of her, she was rapidly starting to beleive she fell under the "Wrong Hands" category. And she didn't like it one bit. -
Richie rolled his eyes at Tzadi.
"Thanks for the vote of no confidence... The plan is, we get in, grab Isabella, and get her the hell out. After that we can take on her guardian if need be, but frankly I'm kinda hopin' to sort her out without violence." Richie finished off, gesturing toward Shadowcrash, who continued.
"I've been in there a few times myself, to check it out. There's some kind of fortress in there, but from what I've seen of it, seems to be pretty empty, besides Isabella and her guardian. Now, if we're gonna be able to get Isabella out of there with a far lesser risk of detection, there's a hole in one of the fortress's walls we can shufty on in through, and if we're all sneakier then Solid Snake, we should be able to get to her room without much, if any trouble." Shadowcrash then place her hands on her hips. "Or we could just charge in through the front door. Oh yeah, don't worry about Richie's skills. the worst his last magic screwup did was give birth to a girl-Richie. Long story, but that was months ago."
"Did you really need to tell them that!?" Richie barked.
